Minsan May Isang P*ta
Mike Portes the writer of the short story "Minsan mya isang p*ta" is born woman but she became part of trans community because of unfortunate events. Mike Portes also has biological children. Jumping to his work, the literary piece "Minsan may isang p*ta" was written in 2004 and was modified in 2007. This short story was originally published in April 30, 2004 at peyups.com
This short story written by Mike Portes is such a masterpiece, he used the word "p*ta" to describe the Philippines and it has a lot of meaning in the story. The writer used metaphorical words that described the suffering and pain of the Philippines embodied in a role of a woman who was abused by three foreigners. These foreigners represents the three countries who tried to take over the Philippines.
The main character here in the story is the prostitute / the Philippines, the author's relationship to the main character is that the author lives in this country. The center of attention in the story is clearly the woman / the mother. The environment being described in this story is about the cruelty of the foreign countries to the Philippines.
As you read the story, the atmosphere is emotional and reflective as it digs into the harsh reality and struggles of the protagonist. The woman expresses her desire to break free from her past and stop engaging in sex work but she is hindered by the burden of debt that she accumulated.
The short story written by Mike Portes "Minsan may isang p*ta" consists of 3 pages (online) and 1,138 words. The external conflict that is being shown in the story is how the protagonist face the world and challenges in her life and family, on the other hand, her internal problems are her mental and emotional battles.
There are many problems in the story, these problems are how the Philippines is being buried in debt, how the Philippines is being destroyed in the past because of the other countries, etc.
In the story, the one who has a problem is the mother. She was molested by the foreigners three times. The mother is also struggling on how to support her children and make a living, her other children also took advantage of her and betrayed her.
The man vs man in the story is how the three foreigners raped the mother, the man vs society is the mother's children who moved to the other countries for good and it is similar to what is happening in our country because of the government, low salary, etc. , Filipinos chose to move to other countries to live a better life. The man vs nature shown is still the rapists and the mother because of how those three countries tried to ruin and take advantage of the Philippines.
This story written by Mike Portes is such a realistic story because it reflects the reality of life and it symbolizes the past of the Philippines, it reflects the history of the Philippines.
The characters in the story is the mother / the Philippines, three foreigners, and the children. The author presents the characters as the people who lived in the Philippines and the countries during the time the Philippines was being attacked and ruled by the other countries. We see here that the main character in the story is the mother (Philippines) and the secondary character is the foreigner / the last relationship the mother had, who played a significant role in her life.
This short story takes us back in the Philippine history and the author wants to show us and tell us how our country suffered in the past and how our country was being enslaved by the other countries. The author also wants to portray how much damage these events from the past left our country and the people in our country.
That is the story "Minsan may isang p*ta" is all about.

The bet is a story of a famous Russian playwright, Anton Chekhov. Chekhov is known to be the master of modern short story.
Tumblr media
The focus of the story is the bet that happened between a young lawyer and a banker. The young lawyer chose life imprisonment because he said that to live anyhow is better than not at all. The banker, on the other hand, opted for death penalty because he believes that capital punishment is better than lifelong imprisonment. The banker risked his two million for the said bet. He staked that the young lawyer wouldn't stay in five year solitary confinement, but instead of declining the wager, the young lawyer accepted it and even extended the confinement period.

The conclusion may not have fully vindicated the wager's purpose, but it did teach the readers certain lessons that are still applicable to our daily lives.

Many realizations came to me as I read this brief story. The two agreed on a nonsensical bet out of excitement and greed. It taught me that making decisions when I am overwhelmed will only lead to more complicated circumstances that I will later regret.
Aside from that, this story also taught me the value of freedom. What happened to the lawyer can be considered a perfect example of why freedom is greater than any amount of money because, at the end of the day, we will all fade into nothingness and the things we cherished when we were alive, such as money, fame, and pride, won't matter anymore.

When everything's dark
And you feel so alone,
When the rain doesn't stop
And you can't make it home,
When it feels like all is lost And you just want to run,
It can't rain forever.
Just wait for the sun.
When the family is in pain,
When friends can't be found,
When you just want to scream But can't find the sound,
When it's all your fault,
And you feel like you're done,
Just wait for the sun.
The sunshine will come.
The storm always passes.
It won't last forever.
The rain always stops and gives way to good weather.
The brightest and warmest of days are still to come.
Please wait for the sun.
The sunshine will come.
People who need you,
People who still love you
Can warm up your soul like the sunshine above you.
You're never alone,
No matter what's done.
Wait for the sun.
Just wait for the sun.
Dark clouds always pass.
I promise you, hun.
We're all waiting for you.
Just wait for the sun.

“Ang babayng way bilbil: An eye opener”
"Ang babayng way bilibil" is a poem written in a deep visayan language by Adonis Durado and translated to English "A woman with no flabs" by  Ryan Alcarde.
Have you ever felt ashamed of your imperfections and flaws? Have you ever looked at yourself in the mirror and thought " I wish I were perfect?" Well, this poem is just as perfect as you!
Nobody is perfect. We have our own flaws that make us unique from others. Mostly, people would hide their flaws out of embarrassment and that's like hiding your own identity. It is normal for an individual to act like that because of society's judgments. People who have flabs are insecure about it, especially women. They would go to extreme measures to change themselves.  But this literary text will help us look differently and love each part of us. Adonis Durado's "Ang babayng way bilbil"  induces readers that one's imperfection can also be an asset.
The poem showed that a flaw can make you glow. Our flaws have their beauty, it just takes a new set of eyes. Flaws also have their purpose, like emphasizing your assets. In the first stanza(translated), "A woman without flabs is like a shore without brink, A cowrie with no lump, a squid with no ink. In those flabs are answers to why waves run along the ocean, To why the rocks are jagged in the mudflat sand." The poem, "Ang babayng way bilbil" was compared to nature. The author is trying to convey that those defects make a big difference, it makes it shine more. It gives a sense of purpose and adds beauty. The same goes for us, humans, our flaws make us stand out more from the crowd.
In other words, "Ang babayng way bilbil" is about embracing one's flaws and accepting them as a part of our identity. A new perspective can change a person. It boosts confidence and helps find deeper happiness.
"Beauty is not flawless; it shines through your flaws"

MENTALITY IN THE DEPTH OF PANDEMIC
Tumblr media
The poem I made that is entitled "Mentality In The Depth of Pandemic" was made on October 9, 2022. It tackled a student's excitement, perishing after noticing the backfires of the pandemic. It shows in some parts of the poem where it says that the student was excited after expecting that it would be fun without thinking about any other things, but suddenly, it backfires where the mental state of the person was also an enemy that we must keep in mind. It was relaxing until he noticed the fact that a lot of people are suffering and facing the consequences of being exposed to the virus during the pandemic.
It also was draining doing things by ourselves without communication with the rest of the people. There were only limited people we could talk to and the only ones we could ever express our feelings as ourselves. Loneliness is something we can only feel when we are by ourselves, some tend to live with it, but the best way to deal with this is actually communicating with people who you trust such as your close friends.

Shape of my heart
By: Castillo, Kyle Earl A. | 12 - STEM G. Zara
After seeing the precedent of beauty as you Polygons and other planes eventually flew But one shape I can compare to your view The loving curves of heart and angles too.
I am always in my square of contention But because of you, I improved my convention So there I felt we would have a connection A quadrilateral, yet single attention
Though I am aware that when push comes to shove You'll always pick him, above my love The mathematical rhythm couldn't pick a song And it made me feel like a kite, that did not belong
But now I am a trapezoid Being the way I should be Because I realize that world is a polygon That there are no sides to be falling on
The poem entitled 'Shape of my heart" was written when I was on 9th grade during the pre-COVID time. Since I am a math enthusiast ever since and enjoys writing poem as well, I combined both of my hobbies to create this romantic poem.
The first stanza signifies the what-so-called love at first sight which was experienced by the persona. Seeing hearts and the sudden stopping of time are metaphorical way to describe the beauty of the girl he met.
There has been an improvement in the life of the persona on 2nd stanza as he chose to leave his comfort zone just to become a better man. Though she doesn't appreciate him yet, he is surely happy to watch her from afar.
Feeling your heart broken into bits is still an understatement on how devastating the 3rd stanza is. She already sets her eye into someone who isn't and will never be the persona.
Every other heart break deserves a healing from the comfort of time. The 4th stanza gives hope to be optimistic in what the future holds.
I wrote this poem because I love putting my emotions, my feelings, and myself in my works. This poem inclines that love is a wonderful thing to give and to receive, but can also cause damage when not taken properly and rightfully. I want to speak up that one-sided affection is not love waiting for something in return, it is defined as happily appreciating someone with you on their side.

Exploring Creative Adaptation: A Blogger's Reflection
As newbie bloggers with passions for literature, we recently embarked on a journey to produce a creative adaptation of a classic literary text. Among the options presented to us – "Dead Stars" by Paz Marquez Benitez, "How My Brother Leon Brought Home a Wife" by Manuel E. Arguilla, and "May Day Eve" by Nick Joaquin – we were drawn to "Dead Stars" for its timeless themes of love, longing, and the complexities of human relationships. This story, with its emotional depth and poignant portrayal of characters, resonated with us on personal levels, making it the perfect choice for a creative adaptation.
"Dead Stars" is a literary gem that showcases the mastery of Paz Marquez Benitez in crafting a compelling narrative. Its literariness is evident in the rich imagery, nuanced character development, and thought-provoking themes explored throughout the story. Benitez's use of language is exquisite, drawing readers into the world of the characters and inviting them to ponder life's existential questions. The story's structure, pacing, and narrative style all contribute to its literary merit, making it a timeless piece of Philippine literature.
For our creative adaptation, we chose the genre of spoken poetry as it offered a dynamic and emotionally resonant medium to reinterpret "Dead Stars" for a modern audience. Through spoken poetry, we aimed to capture the essence of the original text while infusing it with contemporary themes such as diaspora and identity. The deviations from the original text were intentional, serving to highlight these 21st-century themes and make the adaptation more relatable to a diverse audience. By incorporating elements of diaspora and identity struggles, we sought to evoke a deeper emotional response and provoke thought on the complexities of modern life.
The deviations from the original text were driven by the desire to update the story's themes and make it more relevant to contemporary audiences. By exploring themes of diaspora, migrant work, and urbanization, we aimed to broaden the story's appeal and invite readers to reflect on their own experiences in a globalized world. Additionally, the creative liberties taken in the adaptation allowed for a more personalized interpretation of the text, giving it a fresh perspective while staying true to the essence of "Dead Stars."
Through this creative adaptation, we believe that students will gain a deeper appreciation for literature by engaging with a classic text in a new and innovative way. By presenting "Dead Stars" as spoken poetry and incorporating 21st-century themes, students are encouraged to think critically about the story's messages and relate them to their own lives. This adaptation serves as a bridge between the past and the present, connecting timeless literary themes with contemporary issues and fostering a greater understanding of the human experience across different eras. Overall, we hope that our creative adaptation inspires students to explore literature with fresh eyes and an open mind, recognizing its enduring relevance and power to provoke thought and ignite imagination.

INTROVERT
I prefer to be alone
In my bed with my headphones
Focusing on my own life
And never to social life
-
People really annoys me
I'm shy when they talk to me
All I want is peace of mind
And not drama all the time
-
Silent is my therapy
Alone time is my hobby
Having no friends makes me free
An introvert, they call me
