Frédéric Vervisch und das Comtoyou Team Audi Sport feierten mit Audi Sport customer racing auf dem Slovakiaring den siebten Sieg des Audi RS 3 LMS im WTCR – FIA-Tourenwagen-Weltcup. Am dritten Rennwochenende der Saison 2019 gelang dem Belgier im ersten Rennen von Platz neun auf feuchter Strecke ein starker Start. Noch in der ersten Runde überholte er sieben Konkurrenten. In einem sehenswerten Kampf schob er sich in Runde fünf am Führenden vorbei. So gelang Vervisch sein zweiter WTCR-Sieg, nachdem er im Vorjahr beim Finale in Macau erstmals gewonnen hatte. Zusammen mit den Ergebnissen der drei übrigen Audi Sport-Piloten gelang der Marke somit das bislang erfolgreichste Wochenende in der FIA WTCR in diesem Jahr. Mit 74 Punkten sammelten alle Fahrer insgesamt einen Zähler mehr als beim Auftakt in Marokko.

„Frédéric Vervisch und das gesamte Team von Jean-Michel Baert haben eine eindrucksvolle Leistung gezeigt – herzlichen Glückwunsch“, sagte Chris Reinke, Leiter Audi Sport customer racing. „Neben dem ersten Saisonsieg freuen wir uns auch über die Leistungen der anderen drei Audi Sport-Piloten. Erstmals haben alle unsere Fahrer an einem Wochenende Punkte eingefahren. Sehr erfreulich ist dabei die kontinuierliche Steigerung von Niels Langeveld.“

Ähnlich wie Vervisch gelang Jean-Karl Vernay im ersten Rennen ein guter Start. Der Franzose aus dem Leopard Racing Team Audi Sport verbesserte sich vom siebten Startplatz auf Position vier. Sein Teamkollege Gordon Shedden kam vom 16. Platz bis auf Rang zwölf vor. Niels Langeveld vom Comtoyou Team Audi Sport fiel nach der harten Attacke eines Gegners in der ersten Runde mit anschließendem Ausritt ins Kiesbett von Platz 15 bis ans Ende des Feldes zurück. Danach bewies er exzellenten Kampfgeist, holte neun Plätze auf und sammelte so seinen ersten Weltcup-Punkt. Das zweite Rennen beendete er auf Platz acht und war damit zum ersten Mal bester Audi Sport-Pilot in diesem Jahr. Sehr gut schließlich lief es für den Niederländer im dritten Rennen: Vom siebten Startplatz arbeitete sich der 31 Jahre alte Rennfahrer in einem hart umkämpften Rennen bis auf die vierte Position vor.

Neben Langeveld war Gordon Shedden der einzige weitere Audi Sport-Pilot, der in allen drei Rennen Punkte sammelte. Besonders herausfordernd waren dabei für den Schotten ebenso wie für seinen Teamkollegen Jean-Karl Vernay aus dem Leopard Racing Team Audi Sport die ungünstigen Startpositionen, nachdem eine rasch abtrocknende Strecke im zweiten Qualifying für unstete Bedingungen gesorgt hatte. Im zweiten Rennen konnten sich beide Fahrer deutlich nach vorn arbeiten: Vernay fuhr von Platz 19 auf Rang zwölf vor, Shedden von Position 22 auf Platz 13. Im dritten Rennen holte der Schotte sieben Plätze auf und erreichte Platz 15, während Vernay ausfiel.

Den Teams bleibt nur wenig Zeit, um die Rennwagen für den nächsten Einsatz vorzubereiten. Schon am nächsten Wochenende startet der WTCR – FIA-Tourenwagen-Weltcup im niederländischen Zandvoort. Das vierte von zehn Rennwochenenden ist das Heimspiel für Niels Langeveld, der nur 25 Kilometer von der Strecke entfernt aufwuchs.

Hyundai Elantra N TCR revealed – latest addition to touring car arsenal alongside i30 N, Veloster N racers

Hyundai Motorsport has unveiled the Elantra N TCR, which will be made available to customers in markets where the standard Elantra is sold, the automaker announced. First revealed at the Beijing Motor Show alongside the debut of the Elantra for the Chinese market, the Elantra-based racer is the latest to join the brand’s line-up of TCR race cars after the i30 N TCR and the Veloster N TCR.

The introduction of the Elantra N TCR racer comes after it has undergone three months of testing, during which it has covered 5,000 km of test mileage.

The Elantra N TCR started as a ‘blank sheet’ project, where the engineers were able to take advantage of the Elantra’s chassis and sedan bodyshell towards optimising the racer’s design, said Hyundai, applying lessons learned from customer racing experience with the i30 N TCR and Veloster N TCR.

Powertrain, as in compliance with TCR regulations, is a 2.0 litre turbocharged engine that is derived from a new base engine sourced from Hyundai’s production car range. This is mated with a six-speed, shift paddle-operated sequential gearbox as employed in the i30 N TCR and Veloster N TCR racers, and like the other models, the Elantra N TCR sends drive to the front wheels.

Following its first test in June, Hyundai engineers tasked with the Elantra N TCR have visited several circuits around Europe for the parallel development of sprint and endurance racing packages for the car. The Customer Racing department’s testing schedule has also sought the feedback of several drivers, including current BRC Hyundai N Lukoil Squadra Corse team driver Gabriel Tarquini, who is among four current i30 N TCR drivers enlisted for the development of the Elantra N TCR.

“The added experience of Hyundai Motorsport Customer Racing from the i30 N TCR and Veloster N TCR really showed, and we were able to achieve good progress in developing the new car from the start. There are lots of small changes which customer teams and drivers will really appreciate, such as improvements in the steering system over the previous cars,” said Tarquini.

The most potent of the current production Hyundai Elantra variants is the N Line, which produces 201 hp and 264 Nm of torque from a 1.6 litre T-GDI turbocharged petrol engine. Most recently teased was the Elantra N roadgoing development car, which is likely to adopt the 2.0 litre turbocharged inline four engine that can be paired with either a six-speed manual or eight-speed automatic gearbox. This outputs 280 PS and 392 Nm of torque in the i30 N and 275 hp and 378 Nm of torque in the Veloster N.

Všechny tři modely Hyundai N úspěšně dokončily 24h závod s konzistentními výkony na vynikající úrovni

Hyundai i30 N TCR, Veloster N TCR a i30 Fastback N se v závodě se 155 účastníky, často s mnohem výkonnějšími motory, umístily v celkovém hodnocení na 45., 94. a 97. místě

Závodní vůz i30 N TCR předvedl své schopnosti také v pátém podniku WTCR, v jehož prvním závodě zvítězil a ve druhém skončil třetí

Akce „24 hodin zážitků Hyundai N“ s konceptem „N Homecoming“ byla velkolepým návratem ke kořenům značky Hyundai N   

Společnost Hyundai Motor nasadila do závodu 24 h Nürburgring kompletní produktovou řadu svých vysokovýkonných vozů. Hyundai Motor se legendárního vytrvalostního závodu zúčastnil od roku 2016 již počtvrté v řadě, a to prostřednictvím značky N, která nabízí vysokovýkonné modely. Hyundai Motor tak znovu potvrdil vedoucí postavení mezi výrobci sportovních automobilů.

Závod 24 h Nürburgring se konal ve dnech 22. až 23. června na Severní smyčce Nürburgringu v Německu. Hyundai se postavil na start se závodními vozy i30 N TCR, Veloster N TCR a i30 Fastback N. Severní smyčka Nürburgringu je mimořádně náročným závodním okruhem o délce 25 km, tvořeným 73 zatáčkami, úzkými úseky, členitým výškovým profilem a ostrými zatáčkami. Konečné výsledky jsou určeny na základě vzdálenosti, kterou účastníci překonají za 24 hodin jízdy. Jedná se o nejnáročnější test výkonnosti, odolnosti a spolehlivosti všech závodních jezdců a jejich techniky.

Tři vozidla Hyundai N prokazovala po dobu dvou dnů mimořádné závodní nasazení.

Veloster N TCR dojel do cíle na 2. místě ve své třídě a na 45. místě v celkovém hodnocení. Hyundai i30 N TCR skončil na 3. místě ve své třídě a na 94. místě v celkovém hodnocení. Oba vozy předváděly na závodním okruhu Nürburgring excelentní výkony a ve třídě TCR zaujaly pozoruhodnou odolností a spolehlivostí.

Hyundai i30 Fastback N, nasazený ve třídě VT2 jako ukázka vývojových kompetencí společnosti Hyundai v této kategorii, obsadil v celkovém hodnocení 97. místo. Všechny závodní vozy Hyundai tak úspěšně dokončily mimořádně náročný 24hodinový závod. Společnost Hyundai Motor se může pochlubit vynikajícími výkony v příslušných třídách i odolností vozidel při ostrém závodním nasazení.

„Vynikající výkony sportovních a závodních vozů společnosti Hyundai Motor v závodě 24 h Nürburgring potvrzují jejich výjimečné vlastnosti,“ řekl Thomas Schemera, výkonný viceprezident a vedoucí produktové divize a oddělení N ve společnosti Hyundai Motor Group. „V rámci značky N se snažíme tyto zážitky zprostředkovávat i řidičům v každodenním provozu a sdílet s nimi nadšení pro automobily.“

Hyundai se poprvé zúčastnil závodu 24 h Nürburgring v roce 2016 s vývojovým prototypem Hyundai i30 2.0 Turbo, s nímž se umístil na 90. místě. Hyundai již v následujícím roce významně vylepšil své postavení mezi konkurencí a v roce 2017 obsadil s vozem Hyundai i30 N 50. místo. Loni dojely dva vozy i30 N TCR do cíle na 35. a 58. místě, a potvrdily tak pokračující zlepšování v kategorii vysokovýkonných vozů. Hyundai Motor svými vynikajícími výkony v roce 2019 konzistentně předváděl další vylepšení z hlediska jízdních výkonů a odolnosti i spolehlivosti vozidel. Získané zkušenosti budou využity v konstrukci sériově vyráběných osobních vozů společnosti Hyundai Motor.

Hyundai Motor kromě účasti v závodě 24 h Nürburgring předvedl vynikající výkony také v pátém podniku světového poháru cestovních vozů WTCR (FIA World Touring Car Cup), v němž závodní týmy BRC dosáhly jednoho vítězství a jednoho třetího místa.

Norbert Michelisz, jezdec týmu BRC Hyundai N Squadra Corse, v pátek dominoval prvnímu závodu na Nürburgringu, a vybojoval tak své první vítězství v sezoně. Augusto Farfus, jezdec týmu BRC Hyundai N LUKOIL Racing Team, dojel do cíle druhého závodu v sobotu na třetím místě. Po pátém podniku WTCR jsou týmy BRC Hyundai N Squadra Corse a BRC Hyundai N LUKOIL Racing Team na druhém, resp. čtvrtém místě v celkovém hodnocení týmů.

Hyundai Motor poskytl během atraktivního závodního víkendu exkluzivní zážitky N 300 pozvaným hostům značky N z celého světa. Hyundai v rámci akce „24 hodin zážitků Hyundai N“ s konceptem „N Homecoming“ oslavil návrat značky N ke kořenům jejího jména „N“, které symbolizuje Namyang, globální výzkumné a vývojové centrum Hyundai, a Nürburgring, sídlo evropského testovacího centra společnosti Hyundai Motor. Program akce zahrnoval kromě veškerého pohoštění také řidičskou akademii s různými modely Hyundai N, vyhlídkový let vrtulníkem, prohlídku zázemí a večeři ve stylu BBQ na oslavu závodních úspěchů.
