Fanfic Tag Game
Fanfic Tag Game
Thank you for the tag, @jbaillier
Ao3 Name: Berty
Fandoms: currently active in BBC Sherlock, but previously I have written Stargate SG-1, Stargate Atlantis, Torchwood, Due South, some Paul Gross mini fandoms, and a Greek and Roman Mythology one off.
Number of fics: 164
1. Fic you spent the most time on: the one it took me longest to write was Hurstwood, a Stargate SG-1 AU with a nod to Lady Chatterly’s Lover - life got busy and I was writing Due South - I just couldn’t bear to leave it unfinished though. Most research time was Finding the Words - a Due South fic about aphasia and amnesia (this is ironic for reasons which will become clear later!) Longest continuous writing effort (without postponement for years) was the one I am just about to post, currently called Chances Are, which is a Sherlock fic.
2. Fic you spent the least time on: I wrote some drabbles back in the day but in Sherlock it was In Your Own Time (But Quite Quickly) which was written and posted in 36 hours.
3. Longest Fic: Hurstwood at 31411 words, which has been blown out of the water by new story at 43K plus change.
4. Shortest Fic: Many 100 word drabbles and challenge responses in various fandoms.
5. Most hits: In descending order: What The Heart Wants, Stradivarius, In Your Own Time (But Quite Quickly), A Song Only You Can Hear (all Sherlock BBC) and Less Than Madonna (Stargate SG-1)
6. Most kudos: What The Heart Wants, Stradivarius, In Your Own Time (But Quite Quickly), Almost Home, The Love Actually Moment (all Sherlock BBC)
7. Most comments:The House on Rue des Boulangers, which makes me very happy.
8. Fave Fic you wrote: If someone forced me at gunpoint to pick just three, Non Linear System (Stargate Atlantis), Finding The Words (Due South) and Ilex Aquifolium - The Holly Tree (Sherlock BBC).
9. Fic you want to rewrite/expand on: I would love to have the time to write the next part of Those Who Dream Of The Sky (Sherlock BBC Dragon AU).
10. Share a bit of your WIP or share a story idea that you’re planning:
A few lines of a Chances Are which is currently in edits -
A sudden click and the squeak of a door capture Sherlock’s attention. The backdoor of the cottage opens a fraction and a leggy dog explodes from the gap which surely cannot be wide enough to have let him pass through. He is followed at a more sedate pace by the terrier but Sherlock can’t look away from the man who stands in the doorway, mug of tea in hand, leaning on the door jamb and watching the dogs do their circuit of the garden with every evidence of happiness.
John Watson has aged well, Sherlock thinks. His hair is all grey now, cut quite short. The same grey is in his beard but some dark blonde remains. He’s in a t-shirt and shorts, some form of pyjamas Sherlock assumes, and he can see that John has still retained his strong thighs and sturdy compact frame. The lines on his face are the work of a lifetime, but he looks content now. Easy. As if he is where he is meant to be.
John turns then, his head cocked.
“Coming!” he calls, then mutters something about a ‘berk’ that Sherlock cannot hear clearly, disappearing into the house again, leaving the door propped open.
The desire to get up and follow John is a physical sensation, lodged like a hook behind his heart. He longs to see their life here together. He wants to see how John looks at his older self – wants to see how he does so in return. He wants to measure the years between here and there, break them down and use them as a guide. He wants to see how they fill their days and nights, wants to make the connections that join him now to him then.
Tagging anyone who wants to have a go and...
