Star Wars Celebration: How to Watch Live, Schedule, and What to Expect

Star Wars Celebration Anaheim 2022 is set to bring fans all the latest news, announcements, and trailers from the galaxy far, far away. During the four-day event, we’ll hear about all of Lucasfilm’s plans for the future of Star Wars movies, TV series, games, books, and comics; and those fans lucky enough to attend the event in person at the Anaheim Convention Center will even get to enjoy a show floor full of merch and activities to dig into.

For the rest of us watching at home, there are a few things we should expect to learn during the convention’s many panels (several of which will be live streamed for online audiences). The most important panel to keep an eye on is Thursday’s Lucasfilm Studio Showcase, which will cover upcoming live-action Star Wars projects, including The Mandalorian, Obi-Wan Kenobi, and Andor. Could this also be the panel where Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy will outline the franchise’s plans on the big screen? We know Taika Waititi’s untitled film is up first (now that Patty Jenkins’ Rogue Squadron has been pushed back), but what else does the studio have in the pipeline beyond that? Perhaps we’ll finally hear something official about the long-rumored Star Wars movie that Marvel boss Kevin Feige is developing with Loki creator Michael Waldron!

Fans should expect plenty of updates from all the tie-in material, too. Lucasfilm Publishing, Marvel Comics, and Del Rey Books will all be hosting their own panels. There’s even a panel dedicated to The High Republic line of books and comics, as they prepare to jump into Phase 2 of that storytelling initiative.

Animation will have a big presence at SWCA, too. Expect to hear some news about The Bad Batch season 2 (we’re hoping for a release date), as well as to get a first look at Tales of the Jedi, a new anthology of animated shorts that sounds very exciting. There will also be a Visions panel as well as a special screening of the final arc of The Clone Wars. Fans at that event will get to watch a big-screen version of “The Siege of Mandalore” with series co-creator Dave Filoni.

And who knows what other surprises Celebration might have in store? It all begins on Thursday, May 26 and runs through Sunday, May 29. Here’s everything else you need to know about SWCA:

Bent Coppers Make the World Go Round: despre „Line of Duty” (2012 – prezent) *****

Seriale poliţiste se tot fac şi mereu apare un twist nou (vezi „River”). Aici, şmecheria e că poliţiştii investighează cazuri din propriile rânduri, mere putrede din cadrul poliţiei, experţi în a-şi ascunde urmele şi a arunca pisica în curtea altuia. Toată tărăşenia se petrece în curtea AC-12, o divizie anti-corupţie britanică, unde ajunge eroul nostru din primul sezon: Steve Arnott (Martin Compston), fost ofiţer la anti-terorism, transferat repejor după moartea unui nevinovat şi scandalul iscat. Steve e un tip mărunţel, care dovedeşte mintenaş că poate multe, descoperă că e tare pasionat de noul job şi ajunge un protagonist forţos mintal. Dacă aș fi fost maică-sa, eram tare mândră de feciorul meu! :)

În fiecare sezon (au fost 5 până acum şi pe ultimul l-am așteptat 2 ani, oooofffff!), echipa formată din DS Steve „Saves the Day” Arnott, DC Kate Fleming (Vicky McClure) şi şeful lor, Superintendentul Ted Hastings (Adrian Dunbar) dă piept cu un nou potenţial „bent copper”: DCI Tony Gates (Lennie James, din „The Walking Dead” și spin-off-ul „Fear the Walking Dead”), DI Lindsay Denton (Keeley Hawes), Sergentul Danny Waldron (Daniel Mays), DCI Roz Huntley (Thandie Newton, din „Westworld”) și DS John Corbett (Stephen Graham).

Toţi au ceva de ascuns și deasupra tuturor tronează mantra (evidentă mai ales în ultimele sezoane) „corupției instituționalizate din cadrul poliției”. Acumulezi rapid informaţii (the British police lingo, diferenţa dintre DS, DC şi DCI), afli cu stupoare că detectivii lor nu ies pe teren înarmaţi ca Dirty Harry şi că interogatoriile nu se fac aşa oricum, ci cu o tolbă de casete audio old-school în spinare. Jocul de-a şoarecele şi pisica e intens şi dens, scenariul e mereu surprinzător și pendulează emoţional între the bad guys şi eroi, interogatoriile din curtea AC-12 te țin pe muchie de cuțit, iar povestea e concentrată și nu lungită la infinit (fiecare sezon are 5 sau 6 episoade) – nu degeaba „Line of Duty” este unul intre cele mai urmarite seriale dramatice din Marea Britanie.

„Line of Duty” a început aproape ca un serial-antologie, fiecare serie axându-se pe alt copoi corup, dar a ajuns să spună o poveste mai complicată, despre corupția la nivel înalt. Ceea ce nu e neapărat benefic liniei narative: primele 4 serii sunt ge-ni-a-le, dar a cincea not so much, după ce s-a pierdut pe traseu (odată cu DS John Corbett și bănuielile legate de Hastings, un red herring atât de tras de păr…), axându-se pe o conspirație de proporții, care va infecta clar și a șasea porție a poveștii polițiste.

Echipa AC-12 își face cel mai bine treaba când e lăsată în voia ei, să facă ce știe mai bine, nu când scenariul creatorului Jed Mercurio (care a semnat și recentul serial „Bodyguard”) trage linii roșii de ață între personajele corupte de până acum și plănuiește ditamai dezvăluirea legată de „H” – very bad cop-ul care trage toate sforile. We just wanna see Steve and Kate being an amazing team, not running around like headless chickens, dammit!

Doctor Strange 2: Elizabeth Olsen Teases Wanda’s “Bonkers” MCU Return

Elizabeth Olsen didn’t get much of a break between her most recent Marvel Cinematic Universe gigs. The Scarlet Witch actress went straight from WandaVision reshoots in Burbank to the set of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness in the U.K. With shooting on the Doctor Strange sequel set to end this week, Glamour caught up with Olsen for their April cover story, giving us one of our best glimpse into what Doctor Strange 2 will be yet.

There hasn’t been much official news about the MCU sequel. Back in January, an unofficial synopsis emerged for Doctor Strange 2, to be taken with a grain of salt: “After the events of Avengers: Endgame, Dr. Stephen Strange continues his research on the Time Stone. But an old friend turned enemy seeks to destroy every sorcerer on Earth, messing with Strange’s plan and also causing him to unleash an unspeakable evil.”

Whether this synopsis is correct or not, it doesn’t give us a lot of information about the tone of the MCU sequel, which is where Olsen’s Glamour article comes in. During her profile interview, Olsen had this to say about the superhero flick: “It’s a bonkers movie, they’re definitely going for that horror show vibe.” It sounds like Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is going to push the envelope of what is possible in the MCU reality, just like Doctor Strange and WandaVision before it. Considering that WandaVision got pretty trippy at parts and Olsen is still describing Doctor Strange 2 as “bonkers,” it sounds like the upcoming film is going to be an experience.

While we don’t know much yet about Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, the WandaVision certainly set some expectations about what to expect from the sequel. The Disney+ series ended with Wanda Maximoff in a remote cabin, studying Agatha Harkness’ Darkhold magic book, aka the Book of the Damned. We later see Wanda leafing through the book’s contents via an astral form while her physical self putters about the cabin—a trick made MCU famous by the Sorcerer Supreme himself, aka Stephen Strange. As we discussed in this article, the closing scene is likely a huge indication of just how much the Darkhold will be key Marvel’s Doctor Strange sequel, and how large a part Wanda may be playing in the film.
