*sigh* once more having to explain to people that I didn't watch disney or ghibli as a kid, that we had restricted amounts of tv times and usually watched recorded movies with my dad and thus I grew up on the german dub of bud spencer and terence hill movies until we were old enough for the saturday evening crime show (ncis, also, german dub, dinner had to be finished by 20:15) which then became a weekly ritual for like. 2 or 3 years.

#Listen not everyone watched disney or ghibli or cartoons. #We barely watched any tv at all until we were teens #Tv was a holiday special for when we went to my grandparents and only 2h a day while they napped #So we usually just got a bunch of cartoons with 0 context all all. #Random eps of yugioh and pokemon and another show I don't remember the name of #The first movie I remember watching and enjoying as a kid is star wars. I was obsessed. I was 6. #Anyway point is. Stop saying 'everyone has seen it'. It is very ostracising. #No. Not everyone has seen it. Whether that is bc of a lack of interest or a lack of availability doesn't matter. #Do yall have any idea how often I was excluded during middle and high school #Because I wasn't watching as much tv/the same tv as everyone else? #I was watching charmed while everyone else was going on about some stupid reality tv or those singing contests or gntm #And whatever movie was in now. #I got so much hate for enjoying queen or non-german bands and singers. #Not everyone has the same experiences. Please stop assuming. #Sorry for the rant #I kinda went off there... Just having another discussion about this with some friends and its like. #I know you're joking when you say you're disappointed I haven't seen these ghibli movies.
