The second part of DoTD has been scrapped - I was going to keep it a surprise, but I've learned that I can't really write for it anymore.
I went back and edited the original first draft to give the characters proper names. Most of them, at least. This segment is just being released because I don't want it to go to waste - I don't plan on continuing it.

Time was near irrelevant in their confinement. Rows of cells held the monsters of Amber Island within thick glass, the chilling temperature assuring whoever had captured them that they could not escape. They were weak, riddled with fear of the unknown. Only one monster, an Incisaur named Krystall, seemed even the slightest bit alive. She kicked at the cell door, biting and scratching at the glass. It was no use.
"Flare?" Xe called out. "Are you awake?"
The kayna heard her name, but she couldn't respond. It was too cold. Flare faded in and out of consciousness, waving her hand in response. So cold.
"She's awake," the Barrb spoke. He was known as Cereus. A good friend of Puddles, the Whaddle and Spots, the PongPing. His cell stood across from Flares, giving him a perfect view of her condition. It wasn't horrible, but she wasn't holding on well. "I don't know for how much longer, though."
"She's a single element fire monster," Marla worried. "Her elemental compound is vulnerable."
"Aren't you straight-up a candle?"
"I'm a Candelavra, thank you."
"Can everyone shut up?" Nixie hissed, plucking another feather from her wings. "I'm trying to get us out of this shit-hole! I can't focus!"
"How?" Cereus spoke up agsin. "By taking away your ability to fly or by making everyone want to die?"
"If anyone dies, I hope it's you!"
The quarrel was cut short. The lights lining the ceiling flickered on, a door at the front of the room opening itself to the contained monsters and letting in two new beings. They donned white coats and rubber boots, stepping into the long hall and making themselves visible. They carried clipboards, multiple pens stuck into their many pockets.
"Kayna 015?" One spoke.
"Alive," the other answered.
"Glowl 021?"
"Alive."
They went down a list, naming a species and a number next to it. The monsters retreated back into their blocks, avoiding the newcomers as much as they could. Humans hadn't been a threat to monsters before, but they had gained the title and wore it like a crown.
"..and Tiawa 003?"
"Alive. These are the hardest to get. Try not to freeze it this time."
"Don't tell me how to do my job, Jamie. Get the Incisaur to a different room, why don't you? We'll be looking into this one first."
Annoyed, the person now known as Jamie left to gather proper supplies to ensure no harm towards themself once the reptilian monster was out. The other stood behind, watching the beasts cower in the corner of their cells.
"Pity," They spoke. "We've already gotten the information we actually needed. Now, there are just tests."
What did that mean? What was awaiting these monsters on the other side? Krystall circled her cage, ramming xer head into the glass wall in rebellion. The human inched over, kicking at the cell and hushing her fight. It wasn't long until Jamie returned, donning a new suit and gloves.
Krys was gone. That's all anyone knew.

Call me crazy but I'm putting pieces together I swear!!
One of the spirits (i think that's what they are) said 'it's all connected'
Thorns and Fallen Stars take place in the same universe and I think all of Plushies stories are in the same universe
What if there is a way in every characters story that links them all together? Maybe the story of the dead (I think) have to do with the living

First part of my new series - welcome to Daughter of The Damned. Definitely won't be any happier than Fallen Stars, but likely shorter. Hope you enjoy part 1, cuz I don't

'Cool, calm, and clear like water..'
A Kayna jerked awake, taking in a sharp breath of air. The warm, orange glow of lava the monster carried was dulled to a sickly gray, smothered by the horrible cold air that filled the room she had woken up in. She used one of the walls to hold herself up, her legs shaking in an attempt to support the rest of her body.
'I'll make it somehow..'
That voice.. someone's out there, somewhere. The Kayna moved herself forward, eventually gaining enough strength to walk on her own. Her vision restored itself.
She was in a cell, the walls pure white with a blurred glass pane acting as a sort of door with holes drilled into the bottom near a small rectangular opening. A single black camera hung on the wall right of her, protected by a transparent block of thick plastic and nuzzled into the corner. It was cold. Very cold. Whoever had put her in there must have known of her fire element.
"Hello?" She called out.
"Hello?" The voice responded, "I'm here! Please, get me out! I need to find her, I need to find Maggpi!"
"What - who?"
"Maggpi! She has purple fur, green hair, black and yellow horns - her name is Maggpi!"
The Kaynas legs gave out, dropping her onto the freezing floor below with a painful thud.
"No, I.. I haven't seen anyone - where are we? Who are you?"
"Parlsona," the voice answered, "I don't know where we are, but I need to find them! I need to find all of them! Uh - are you ok?"
The fire monster rolled onto her back, staring at the ceiling. A pattern of chilling ice grew on it, spiraling every direction.
"I.. I don't know. It's freezing. What's going on?"
The amount of noise the two made caused many other monsters to awaken, their prisons holding them in place. Parlsona wiped the condensation off of the front of her cell door, looking out. She didn't recognize most of these monsters, likely from an island she had never visited. How had she been mixed in with them?
Parlsona wasn't the only one asking this question. Footsteps filled the hallway that separated each monster, belonging to small, unknown creatures. They wore thick suits and loud rubber boots that echoed with every step. They argued with one another, approaching the Werdo.
"Wait - wait! Please!" She begged, moving as far back as she could.
The Kayna heard a snap. Then a thud. Then a zipper. The cell next to her opened and closed, another thud from a monster taking the previous ones place. The new monster screeched at them, the fluttering of feathers shaking off droplets of water.
Everyone fell silent, waiting for the two creatures to disappear completely. Behind them dragged a black bag, zipped closed. The fire monster felt her heart drop. Was Parlsona in there? Had they killed her? Tranquilized? She wouldn't ever know.
"That's right, you better run!"
"Nixie?" Kayna yelled.
"Flare?" The Glowl responded, "You're here too?"
"I think all of us are," a new voice spoke. It belonged to a Barrb, another Amber Island monster. "The entire island's here."
A call of names made this clear. A Whaddle, a Sooza, an Edamimi, a Tiawa, a Candelavra, a Thrumble, Krillby, and a Woolabee are all on one side A Flum Ox, a Yelmut, a PongPing, a Rootitoot, Floogull, an Incisaur, a Flowah, a Repatillo, a Phangler, and a pair of Bisonorus on the other.
"We're missing a few," The Candelavra spoke with worry, "Has anyone seen them?"
"No one has memory of anything!" Nixie scrapped her talons on the glass, "We need to get out!"
"Just stay calm," Flare rose to her feet, once more holding onto the wall, "We'll figure something out."
"Yeah, until we freeze to death!"
"Nixie, I will pluck you."
"Hey Rocco, you're a hefty guy," the Barrb moved to the edge of his cell, "Put that to good use, would you?"
A moment of silence, followed by a pathetic thunk
"What the hell was that, dude?" he laughed.
"I'm rusty!"
"I can tell."
Panic arose once more. Their flames could never grow enough to burn their way out in this temperature, and most were weak due to it as well.
"Let's just take a moment to be in the present," the Flum Ox recommends, "How about we practice our breathing and -"
"I will skin you," the Sooza spat.
"Chloe what the fuck?"
Panic turned to arguing, arguing to fighting. Flare was too weak to speak any louder, instead asking softly for everyone to calm down as hard as it may be.
"The Handlers wouldn't do this!" Puddles the Whaddle argued, "They're observers, not kidnappers!"
"Have we ever interacted with any other of the human species?" The Candelavra, Marla, questioned.
Could other humans have learned of the monsters dimensions? If so, wouldn't they have most all of the information they needed provided by the Handlers? What else did they want to know?
Many rooms over, another monster awoke. She jumped from either wall and threw their fists at the glass. The fit she threw caught the attention of the cell across from her.
"Roarick - Roarick, stop! Look at me! Please."
The monster, now known as Roarick, stopped their panic. There was visible distress on her face. She moved to the front of her cell, the other being doing the same.
"Stay calm," he spoke again, "Don't draw too much attention. They'll have to lose interest eventually."
" 'Chantling, I'm scared," Roarick hiccuped, "They took Xyster out of their cell, their cousin too. What are they doing?"
"I wish I could tell you, dear, I really do," Enchantling shook his head, "But we have to remain calm. If they don't find us as a threat, then perhaps we'll be able to leave sooner. We will find the rest. We will be ok."
"I know you're all wise n' shit, but this isn't our island. This isn't our dimension, either. We don't know these monsters, Enchantling, we don't."
"Then we will get to know them. We will learn what they have brought us here for. If they show any hostility, you know well what we are capable of."
The furred monsters voice seemed to soothe Roarick, the reassurance of escape and return of their fellow magical monsters. This wouldn't be the first time they had gotten themselves into a.. less than ideal situation.
"I trust you," She whispered.
"As I do you. I promised to be with you until the sun ceases to shine, had I not?"
"The hell are you doin' at night?"
"Roarick."
"Haha! I'm kidding, I'm kidding."
The chattering continued long into the night. The separation was odd but adapted. With whatever hopes they had gained, the many monsters survived their first night.

wait is Fallen Stars over and what was the alternate ending supposed to be? are you going to make anything else
Fallen Stars, the main storyline, is probably over. I might make a small spin-off series that's just the characters fucking around on Plant Island and dealing with the aftermath of everything that happened.
The alternate ending was, in short, everyone fucking dies
I actually had a bit of the ending typed out in a note. Basically, after a whole series of horrible events, no Celestials remained. Their spirits are taken back to Celestial Island, solidified in stone, and the cycle begins all over again. Definitely not a happy ending lol
As for making other content, the spin-off is all I have planned. I might continue Daughter of The Damned, but it's a slim chance.

Idk if you'll be continuing dotd but I think it has the vibes of Chonny Jash's cover of The Moss if that makes sense
GOD I LOVE THAT SONG 🛐🛐🛐🛐🛐
I've only listened to the original version but all covers of it are so good
I'm gunna be honest, I want to continue DoTD, but I'm low on ideas and motivation. I had an idea to make it into another interactive story, but there was a plotline for Enchantling and Roarick that I wanted to indulge in bc they're two of my favorite monsters.

Do you have a another msm fanfic are you planning to do after you finish Thorns?
Zoinks people read my posts? No way /lh /j
I'm still yet to really figure out how I would end any of these stories, but we're far from that as of right now
Once/if I do, I might start up another story based on whatever my mind wants to
Fun fact, I have another series I simply scrapped. Not DOtD (which I'm considering revamping) but one based around Magical Sanctum (the island that brought me back into the msm community)
