"Beauty and the Beach", the no-matter-who-you-are-something-in-this-episode-is-going-to-make-you-uncomfortable episode.

Can we talk about some of the questionable choices made for the English dub?

Like, the old guy perving on Misty got adapted to "You remind me of my granddaughter!"

It was creepy enough and THAT JUST MADE IT SO MUCH WORSE.

It reminds me of the Sailor Uranus and Neptune thing. It's like 4Kids thought that if you changed it to a family relation being mentioned then people would just think there was no way something weird was going on instead of thinking that it looked like incest. Like they don't know that the audience can still see the original visuals.

I feel like it could have been better if they had had him say something like, "you remind me of my late wife when we first met". I mean, yeah, it would still be weird, but at least maybe then you could interpret it as him remembering his schoolboy crush and not... whatever the fuck it is they ended up doing with that.

I know I'm fixating on this one moment in an entire episode full of weirdness, it's just that 4Kids dubbing choices have always been both equally mysterious and fascinating to me. There is so much that they did that I just. Don't. Get.

On the plus side, it was actually kind of cool to get to see Meowth do his tricky/evil cat thing to more of an extreme
