We were not invited by Gov Adeleke’s chieftaincy review panel — Ruling Houses
Tumblr media
Ruling Houses and other stakeholders in Iree town of Osun State have accused the panel constituted by Governor Ademola Adeleke to review chieftaincy issues of not inviting them during its sittings. This is as they insisted that they will not accept another monarch unless the incumbent Oba joins his ancestors. we recalled that on November 7, 2022, the selection of Oba Raphael Ademola Oluponle was approved by the Adegboyega Oyetola led state government, and he was subsequently presented with the staff of office after completing all the traditional rites including the compulsory four days seclusion. The Ademola Adeleke administration had on assumption of office in November 2022, through an Executive Order, suspended the selection processes of monarchs installed in the twilight of the Adegboyega Oyetola administration. Adeleke also set up a review committee headed by Bunmi Jenyo to look into the selection processes of the monarchs and come up with a White Paper which would form a government decision. we also recalled that on Thursday, January 18, 2024, the Osun State Government had through a White Paper signed by the Commissioner of Information and Public Enlightenment, Kolapo Alimi, suspended the selection processes of the Aree of Iree and called on the kingmakers to withdraw their case in court to pave way for a fresh selection process. Also, on the disputed Akirun stool, the government directed that the parties await the outcome of the case before the Court of Appeal. The White Paper also declared that the stool of Akirun of Ikirun and Owa of Igbajo remained vacant. Speaking during a press briefing on Wednesday in Iree, the Secretary of the Ruling Houses, Gbenga Olatunji, stated that the outcome of the White Paper was unfair and unjust. Olatunji said, “The news of the said White Paper came as shock and surprise and least expected from a government that always place emphasis on due process and rule of law. We are going to resist it through the instrumentality of the law. “Throughout the sittings of the committee constituted by the state government, it is important to state that only the petitioners were invited while none of the respondents, either the ruling house that produced the King or warrant chiefs or the King, were invited for interaction to get fair insight to the selection process. “We therefore wonder how they arrived at the conclusion of setting aside valid and legitimate selection process. “We see the decision of Governor Adeleke as politically-motivated, ill-conceived and capable of destabilising the peace of Iree. “It is an unpopular decision meant to serve the interest of a very tiny set of people who have decided to feed fat on the Obaship matter. The resolve of those people, particularly among the Chiefs is to continue to hold the people of Iree to ransom and frustrate attempts to have a generally accepted monarch like Oba Oluponnle, so that they can continue to live large.” Read the full article

The Fallacy of Half-truth By Governor Ademola Adeleke: The True Position of Osun Finances Under Governor Adegboyega Oyetola (Part 1)
Oyetola and Adeleke   By Bola Oyebanji The recent comments by Governor Ademola Adeleke on the position of the debt of Osun state under Governor Adegboyega Oyetola is a reflection of the combative and vindictive posture, yet again, of Governor Adeleke against my principal, Governor Adegboyega Oyetola. It is purely a campaign of calumny against a people-centric government. For the umpteenth time,…

By • Olalekan Fagbade JUST IN; Residents receive free petrol as palliative provided by former Governor No fewer than 200 commercial motorcyclists and tricyclists have benefited from fuel distribution palliative to mark the birthday celebration of the minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola. The distribution of the fuel which took place at two different petrol stations at Oke-Fia and Jaleyemi junction, Osogbo capital of Osun state was sponsored by the former commissioner for regional integration and special duties, Olalekan Badmus. Speaking while dispensing fuel to the beneficiaries, the chairman of Okada Riders in Osogbo, Comrade Najeem Bello extolled the gesture and urged well-meaning Nigerians to do more for the sector. He said: “The food that the government is distributing is not enough and this sector, we are neglected during the process, but this kind of initiative by Badmus will further help our business and encourage our members to work for the economy to grow.” In the remark, Badmus urged Nigerians to exercise patience with the government of President Bola Tinubu noting that reforms introduced by his government will yield long-term benefits for the country. His words: “For the main time before the reforms start yielding I have come to think of ideas of injecting the little that I have into the economy through the informal sector. Hence, I came up with this initiative of distributing fuel to over 200 commercial motorcyclists and tricyclists to mark the birthday celebrations of Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola. “Instead of throwing a big party celebration for him, let us channel the money to help the economy grow and make life easy for the people. My opinion is that party will not help our people this time but this kind of soothing gesture will go a long way to help the people and our economy.”

[ad_1] The Osun State Government has alleged another looting of public properties by the previous administration, Njenje Media News reports. According to a press statement on Monday by Olawale Rasheed, the spokesperson to Governor Ademola Adeleke, the discovery pertained to the Osun State Governor’s Lodge in Abuja. The statement disclosed that the pillaging of assets in the lodge was uncovered during a physical inspection of the facility during the weekend. The government which alleged that the lodge was stripped of all valuables added that the items carted away were acquired with public funds by officials of the Adegboyega Oyetola Administration. The government noted that the Osun Governor’s Lodge was also in a similar state as the looted Deputy Governor’s quarters at the Government House Oke-Fia, Osogbo. According to the statement: “On the physical inspection team was the Chairman of State Assets Inventory and Recovery Committee, Dr B.T Salam and other top government functionaries. The lodge was stripped of all valuables acquired with public funds by those officials of the past administration. “From the main house to the service flats and up to the boys’ quarters, clear indications of valuables removed can be observed. Items such as television sets, chairs, foams, electrical fittings, bed sheets, spoons and cutleries, among other valuables were illegally removed from the lodge. Every utility vehicle procured for use in the lodge was also carted away from the building. “The lodge was in a terrible state and similar to the way we found the Deputy Governor’s quarters and others at the Government House in Osogbo following the brazen looting of that facility. “We are shocked by this lust for materialism as evidenced in the unexplained pilfering of public properties by officials of the past administration. Civil servants in the Abuja lodge confirmed the pillaging of the state’s assets by Mr Oyetola’s men but said they were powerless in stopping them. “That this happened in the Federal Capital Territory is another peep into the gross abuse of office by officials of the past administration. “Those who think we were playing politics with the revelation only just need to see the level of theft of public assets that we found on ground. “This matter, just like those before it, is being looked into by the Assets Inventory and Recovery Committee and we want to assure the public of this government’s firm resolve to recover every stolen asset.” The statement which revealed that the Assets Recovery Committee is working round the clock to track and recover all looted assets warned individuals in possession of public properties to return them forthwith. Recall that the state’s Deputy Governor, Kola Adewusi had alleged that the Deputy Governor’s Quarters in the Government House, Osogbo was looted and valuables carted away before the assumption of office of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) administration of Ademola Adeleke. Reacting, former Deputy Governor, Benedict Alabi denied looting the quarters. Alabi added that he would not be dragged into the matter as he left the quarters long before the handover date of November 27, 2022. Also, reacting, the spokesperson of the previous governor, Adegboyega Oyetola, Ismail Omipidan added that all properties in the Government House were handed over to security personnel and inventories taken. Responding, the state government accused Omipidan of dragging security personnel into the matter. The government which disclosed that it has video evidence to show the level of looting perpetrated in the Government House insisted that the Government House was stripped of all valuables. [ad_2]
