Hey y’all! I’m still sewing masks, and will continue to do so, but I think I want to stretch my sewing skills and sew some other things!  The only fabric I have is minky and fleece for stuffed animals or woven fabric for masks, but I found a tutorial-thing on how to turn a men’s button up shirt into a women’s tank top, and my dad and my brother both wear a lot of button up shirts and have some that don’t fit anymore I can use.  Do y’all have any advice on sewing clothes? Links to different ways to hem fabric? Advice on materials to use when I’m not using hand-me-down clothes as the fabric? The tutorial I found is not very detailed; it basically says trace a tank top you have that you like on top of the shirt, cut (leaving space for hemming) and sew together. I don’t have any non-stretchy tank tops in my closet and I don’t have any stretchy fabric to make tank tops with, so I’m pretty sure that method won’t work very well. One of the hand me downs fits pretty well so I could use that as a basis maybe? but it fits so closely the buttons pop open and idk how to fix that when the shirt is too tight to put on without unbuttoning it so I can’t just sew it closed, but if it’s that tight I probably shouldn’t use it as a template for other tank tops... Basically, I don’t even know what terms to use to search but I’m determined to learn a new skill and at some point this week I’m going to turn a button up into a tank top. Luckily, all the women in my family are almost-but-not-quite the same size, so if it doesn’t fit me it will fit one of them
