listening to my flatmate while she talks abt hair removal mentally repeating to myself that its not my business what ppl decide to do with their body hair so I need to keep neutral abt the fact that she said it wouldnt get rid of lighter fluffier hair instead of jumping around the kitchen in joy + relief anyway I love body hair

hey babe! i jus wanted to say i luv ur discussions/opinions of nancy, i rlly like her as a character but i feel like everyone else who is into her just Don't Get it .. like th way they talk abt her makes no sense to me lol. nancy is not a sweet girl bro! she jus looks that way! mayb thas mean but like imo nancy isnt always a nice person n thats why shes compelling! not to say that shes isnt a Good person, she tries! but shes v stubborn & insecure, she doesnt truly engage w the ppl around her like they're her equals despite how much she needs them, & thas interesting! i think her attraction to jonathan is less abt like, love, n more abt like, oh ppl think ur a weird outsider and so am i, even if nobody else sees it under my republican sweaterset. the duffers jus mishandle her so hard imo, like giving her the whole workplace misogyny storyline was such a misstep. i think they're more focused on what looks like a feminist arc then actually investing in the character they've written, a character which is like, idk! fundamentally kinda subversive. the emotionally unintelligent fuck-up is a role literally anyone can play irl or not, n having that kind variety onscreen means we could hav a more evolved and nuanced understanding of gender as a whole. anyway! thx fr letting me ramble. love to hear any of ur wheeler siblings thoughts anytime tbh.
thank you so much!! i really do love thinking and talking about nancy because, like you said, she's SO compelling and subversive!! she's an incredibly interesting character, it's just that the plots she's been given never really... challenge her. like, nancy is an incredibly flawed person who messes up a lot, but the duffers don't really care to acknowledge or explore that. ideally she'd be faced with challenges that force her to confront and attempt to address her shortcomings/issues, but instead with the workplace misogyny thing, they gave her a plot that like. if anything it motivated her to do the exact opposite. so yeah i luv your nancy thoughts too!!
