i LOVE watching things in other languages cause even though sometimes the translation is shitty, sometimes people actually put effort into it and it puts meaning behind scenes that don’t come across the same in english

#I’m watching captain America civil war rn with the audio in english and the captions in spanish #and (minor spoilers maybe?) #the scene where what’s his face says to Steve #‘please tell rogers when you gotta go you gotta goo’ #but in the translation they didn’t use ir for to go like if they did a direct translation #they used morir #to die #I never understood that scene as having connotations of death until I watched it with the Spanish closed captions #I just thought it meant physically leaving #anyway #I love languages I might become a linguistics minor
