#I'm thinking a chain will connect the snake and Eden so it's like they're at the gallows with a snake as the rope

The Angel: what the fuck, basically
just like a collection of known things about the Angel:
actual (nick)name Aim, title is The Messenger; this is obviously a joke about AIM
"I'm the Messenger. We are the Message . . . the message has two parts left, and you are looking at one of those parts. The name for this part of the message was 'Aim' when the message was passed to us through my forebear Emma Sen. The message is too simple for human beings like us to understand."
Emma Sen is clearly a joke about MSN Messenger, though not so clear that I didn't need @mike-wachowski to point it out to me
This is the character with bestowed pronouns; there's a line in which Aim says it's their "immense privilege to be 'they'"
Is a big enough deal in BOE that they have their own bodyguard, and that someone who fired a gun in front of them would be court-martialed
"They are the one with the little arboreal dog who is elderly" (We Suffer, p. 294)
"The Angel is Blood of Eden" (We Suffer, p. 294)
Pash takes orders from The Angel directly (p. 325) and those orders supersede We Suffer's orders
Born on Lemuria, where trained as a vet
Has an implant with origins in the Nine Houses (p. 252)
Many of the chapters where the Angel shows up have House skulls, or other insignia, that don't seem to match anything in the chapter. The tree with the apple is clearly for BOE; but several Angel chapters start with a 7th house skull (#4, #15), a lily (#17), an 8th house skull (#18), or a 4th house skull (#26). In particular, the 8th house skull chapter is the one where Palamedes asks them if they have ever received an implant from the Nine Houses.
Currently I feel like I'm staring at all* the puzzle pieces but haven't put anything together yet. Putting all the pieces together as best I can, it seems like perhaps BOE's 'house with many rooms' is structured around protecting one human chain that connects back to the time of the Resurrection. (Hence why the Messenger is 'they'.) I would not be surprised to find that some links in this chain are connected to the 4th and 7th houses, and based on the 8th house skull on the implant chapter, I am suspicious that Mercy has met Aim and put this implant in for her. Though, given how protective BOE are of Aim, I am doubtful that this happened; because it feels extremely out of character for them to expose "the package" to the presence of a Lyctor. Certainly that exact circumstance basically occurs when they get in the firefight at Nona's school, and Pash says someone will be court-martialed about it.
*I am also suspicious that Noodle has more going on than meets the eye. I think some promotional material somewhere said he was maybe the most important dog in the universe; and I don't believe this is only because he's what keeps Nona alive when they're headed to the Ninth. I saw and lost track of a post that suggested Noodle is short for "Danger Noodle" and plays the role of the snake in a Genesis parallel; this seems plausible tbh. If the most salient feature of the Messenger is that "they are the one with the little arboreal dog who is elderly" then it seems to me like protecting/caring for Noodle is a central part of the job of Messenger. Does the implant... create a connection between Aim and Noodle?
