I absolutely hate how chess tournaments are livestreamed and it's the #1 reason I really want to attend some events live.
My ideal way to watch classical chess is to watch 2 people (PEOPLE, not just a lifeless digital representation of their board) agonize and think in real time with a clear image of the current position and silence so I can just get absorbed in my own thoughts and watch them get absorbed in THEIR thoughts... it's almost meditative.
But there is no way to watch chess like this unless you go to a tourney. Your options are chess24, which just shows the digital board and it's a crapshoot whether the board has been properly updated or not, or watching chess.com's livestream which spends what feels like 50% of the time showing round robin footage that cuts away from a game as soon as you've started to get into it and 50% of the time on interviews and ads. It's probably not that bad but it feels like it is.
It drives me insane. I just want to watch the matches in a way that lets me get absorbed in them. That does not seem to exist unless you just buy a plane ticket
