Totally agree on the Heihachi retcons, I think it's better if he's like "I hate the DG because mah WIFE" instead of the whole Power fever Kazuya (and at some point Jin) had. Still, f*ck that old bitch lmao. I hope Xiao doesn't like him anymore because how on earth do you call him Grandpa Heihachi on Tek5? lol I just KNOW Jin was screaming on the inside in that scene like, baby girl what is you doing?
YEAH... and even beyond "Jin," Devil Jin, Azazel, Ogre I guess, and Kazuya - there are still other characters who love power. (Bryan for example, even Eddy at one point had "power" as his likes sooo...) I don't mind multiple characters having the same goal. But it does become repetitive after a little while.
I REALLY HOPE THEY GET RID OF XIAO'S WEIRD RELATIONSHIP WITH HEIHACHI. Because sorry! Tek5 is LITERALLY the only one that shows she really cares DEEPLY for him. Because when I brought it up on Reddit, most argued against me saying, "it's nuance!!1! it's hard to just STOP loving someone!11!!" and it's like. There's nothing that told us their relationship was that deep. In Tekken 3, she literally gets mad at him for trolling him, then BEATS HIM DOWN. In Tekken 4, she was so willingly easy to believe Jin's anonymous email, that she immediately started distrusting Heihachi - and even that doesn't tell us what precisely their relationship was. Like even in that, Xiao never shows doubt because I thought Heihachi was such a GOOD PERSON, I love him! Or referred to him as "Grandpa Heihachi." That was totally a Tek5 thing only. Even in 6, while she still refers to him as Grandpa (ugh) she literally threatens to beat him. (Though, Xiao was... oddly "yandere" in that game. Though y'all already know how critical I am of the writing in 6 LOL)
And then, of course, Jin himself also trusted Heihachi - he looked up to, and admired Heihachi. It's only after Heihachi literally shot him in the face did Jin started hating him - and Heihachi is literally Jin's blood. So if Jin can hate him with ease, why the hell wouldn't Xiao? I know there's the argument that she's more "pure" and "kindhearted" than Jin. But it's just weird to have Jin's love interest be so loving to the man who abused, and killed him - and also abused, and technically attempted to kill, his father - which helped start all their lifelong years of abuse. Like you can still have the Xiao wanting to turn back time plot. Just have it so that she realizes Jin wouldn't have to suffer, nor Kazuya.
So yeah, the Xiao loving Heihachi because ""nuance"" is an argument that will always fall flat to me lmao and I absolutely agree - it really needs to stop because goooosh it just feels so weird. Hopefully in Tek8, we'll get the Xiao from Tek4 who already knows of Heihachi's misdeeds.
