"Good News In 2 Days": Kamal Haasan On Lok Sabha Poll Alliance With DMK
In a run-up to the Lok Sabha Elections, Makkal Needhi Maiam president and actor Kamal Haasan said on Monday that an alliance announcement will be made within two days.
While speaking to reporters at Chennai airport, the MNM chief, referring to preparations for the parliamentary polls, anticipated a "good opportunity" adding that the election works are going well.
"In two days I will meet you with good news. Work for the Parliament election are going well and we are hoping for a good opportunity. Regarding the alliance, we will announce the decision in two days," Kamal Haasan said.
Kamal Haasan reached Chennai Airport on Monday morning from the US after his upcoming movie 'Thug Life' preparation works there.
Earlier in September last year, DMK leader and Tamil Nadu minister Udhayanidhi Stalin hinted at his party allying with Haasan's MNM ahead of the parliamentary polls.
"The party leaders will decide on the alliance (with Kamal Haasan's Makkal Needhi Maiam party) at the time of the elections," Udhayanidhi Stalin had said.
Also, Kamal Haasan had come in defence of Udhayanidhi Stalin during the 'Sanatana Dharma' controversy against the latter saying that a young child (Udhayanidhi) was being targeted just because he spoke about Sanatana.
Haasan formed MNM in 2018 but faced defeats in the 2019 Lok Sabha polls and 2021 Assembly polls in Tamil Nadu.
Later, MNM extended support to the ruling DMK-led Secular Progressive Alliance candidate during the by-polls in Erode.
Also, Haasan was seen alongside Congress MP Rahul Gandhi embarking on his Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra when it reached Tamil Nadu earlier in December 2022.

Kamal Hassan and the Dying Hope for Righteousness!
We can consider ourselves to have dipped our hands into politics when we first cast our votes.
Though this is a soft touch, it is still a touchdown, and we have chosen someone to be our leader (or have picked the least rotten apple from the basket)
I did not vote till 2021 TN Assembly Elections because I always considered that none could demonstrate true form of politics.
Without giving a chance to anyone, I sat comfortable at home on election days...
Why should I vote when elections only offer me candidates from political parties that only give importance to poor class people only during the announcement of elections.
Why should I vote if elections could be rigged, vote machines could be tampered, ballot boxes can be stolen!
Why should I vote if a powerful political party allies with religious intolerant party? Why should I vote if the last person worth betting is actually a spoiled brat who runs 'dynasty politics' ?
But in 2021, when every vote will decide the exile or entry of Big Jealous Party (that’s full of separatist with divide and conquer agenda), in Tamil Nadu, I did not want my sluggish nature to add to their victory and entry.
So I asked myself “Who can deliver good governance?”
Like many others, I wanted a person with clean hands to give a fresh start. My mind was steady and clear. I wanted to vote for MNM because they displayed energy and dedication to make changes.
Yes, this would be the party that can fulfil my expectations. If you want someone with clean hands, then you need a fresher to start the game.
Kamal was (is) fresh, his ideology is centrism, though he belongs to a sophisticated social order, he has toiled to be where he is. He seemed brave, organised and futuristic.
I know he wouldn’t win all the constituency but at least if he wins at one place, we could see how well his team can execute their vision.
Everything turned to dust when MNM failed to win at least 1 seat. The internal issues of MNM later made me think “Was my expectation of fair politics just a dream?”
Not just me, thousands and thousands who had voted for MNM have this feeling.
But in the recent days, Kamal has blown new breath into MNM. He is once again coming to the front, meeting people, sharing perspectives (but is he raising voice?)
Can Kamal still keep his party men committed and focused to win a seat in 2026? Five years remain but it will pass in just a blink of an eye!
Kamal must win 1 seat...one seat...just one and show how well he/MNM can improve people’s lives.
Every era brings a man of influence to the front. It is in his hands to make the most of it. I want fair and good governance. I believe in Kamal Hassan. But my hope for fairness is dying.
