Hiking the High Peaks in Pinnacles National Park
flickr
Hiking the High Peaks in Pinnacles National Park by Mark Stevens Via Flickr: A setting looking to the west while taking in views along the hillside of the pinnacle formations present on the High Peaks. This was while walking the High Peaks Trail in Pinnacles National Park. My thought on composing this image was to take advantage of the hiking trail leading off into the image. I liked the way the trees on this portion of the hillside helped to create a layered look from near to far with the more distant pinnacle formations.

A Trail Hiked the Day Prior (Pinnacles National Park)

A Trail Hiked the Day Prior (Pinnacles National Park) by Mark Stevens Via Flickr: A setting looking to the northeast while taking in views across volcanic eroded formations present along the High Peaks in Pinnacles National Park. This was taking in view where the Juniper Canyon Loop meets with the High Peaks Trail, which I had hiked the day prior. My thought on composing this image was to keep more or less a balanced view with the ridge to my front and using a trail as a leading line to it.

Moments Made Amongst the Mountains (Pinnacles National Park) by Mark Stevens Via Flickr: A setting looking to the south while taking in views across ridges and peaks in Pinnacles National Park. This while while walking the High Peaks Trail. I had to adjust the metering as I exposed the image, as I was more or less, looking in the direction of the sun high up in the skies.

Hanging on the Side of a Tree in Pinnacles National Park

Hanging on the Side of a Tree in Pinnacles National Park by Mark Stevens Via Flickr: While at the Bear Gulch Day Use Area with a view looking to the northeast at an acorn woodpecker. This is in Pinnacles National Park. What I liked about this image was catching the yellows in the eyes of the woodpecker from a little bit of sunlight that happened to come out around the main face area of the bird.

Others Walking Along the High Peaks Trail in Pinnacles National Park by Mark Stevens Via Flickr: A setting looking to the north while taking in views across pinnacle rock formations while walking the High Peaks Trail in Pinnacles National Park. My thought on composing this image was really for two reasons. One, kind of a keepsake for a look back and how far I had hiked along the trail with it high climbs and share drop offs. Two, was to capture that #FindYourPark feel with people hiking along the trail and exploring the wonders of this national park in California.

Amazing Views Seen Walking Along the High Peaks Trail in Pinnacles National Park by Mark Stevens Via Flickr: While walking the High Peaks Trail with a view looking to the west to Resurrection Wall and the Fingers in this part of Pinnacles National Park. My thought on composing this image was to take advantage of the high ground I was on and angle my Nikon SLR camera slightly downward to create a more sweeping view across this landscape with the eroded volcanic formations and then more distant ridges and peaks.

I Can See So Much of the World From Up Here! (Pinnacles National Park) by Mark Stevens Via Flickr: A setting looking to the west-southwest while taking in views of eroded pinnacle formations present along the High Peaks Trail in Pinnacles National Park. My thought on composing this image was to take advantage of some of the nearby rock formations and create a framed view of a look beyond to the more distant formation of Resurrection Wall and The Fingers. In someways, it also had a layered look with nearby formations, and then more distant ones with even more distant ridges and mountains.

Pinnacles, Hillsides, and More Distant Ridges (Pinnacles National Park) by Mark Stevens Via Flickr: While walking the High Peaks Trail with a view looking east-northeast and down and across a hillside with the pinnacle formations present in this part of Pinnacles National Park. My thought on composing this image was to take advantage of some high ground I was on and angle my Nikon SLR camera slightly downward to create more of a sweeping view across this landscape. I also decided to zoom in a little to this one portion with the pinnacle formations that also happened to have a portion of the hiking trail that I would be going down shortly.

Interesting Paths to Walk Along the High Peaks Trail! (Pinnacles National Park)
flickr
Interesting Paths to Walk Along the High Peaks Trail! (Pinnacles National Park) by Mark Stevens Via Flickr: While walking the High Peaks Trail in Pinnacles National Park. The view is looking down a rock face and to the north. My thought in composing this image was to capture that look along the path I’d just walked up with the notches for going up the face. The railing is for support in the walk up the rock face.
