Oh my god oh my god Seanan McGuire and Cory Doctorow both reblogged my post about the KS getting scammed (the version that includes my personal note) and I am losing my e.n.t.i.r.e. mind over it.

thanks to the internet and especially social media sites like twitter and instagram, content creators feel closer and more accessible than ever and while that can be a blessing in many ways, it also makes it a lot easier for fans to ignore the boundaries their favourite content creators set and it can set a pretty toxic precedent

like, for example, i make no secret of how critical i am of some of horikoshi’s writing decisions for bnha, but would i ever dream of going on twitter and tweeting my rants at him about what i think he should do with his story?

fuck no! that’s completely unacceptable behavior! because at the end of the day, content creators don’t owe you shit! and people need to stop feeling so entitled to their attention!

and that goes double for content creators who take the time to interact with their fandoms! i’m sick and tired of seeing the way some people on here treat authors like seanan mcguire or rainbow rowell.

there’s this post in the carry on tag where someone is complaining that rowell will never read their fanfic, saying that they understand why she doesn’t, but that if she’s not going to interact with fic authors, she shouldn’t reblog fanart either. like oh my god, where do you get off?
