So, these are figures that released last year, all throughout 2023. I was just waiting to be able to justify shipping 20-30USD figures, by DHL... That kept going, until it was already too big of a shipment, and too expensive to justify at all! lol!

Long story longer, I was waiting for HLJ to have a lower shipping option, during the holiday season, but I kind of ended up paying more, than if I had shipped way earlier! I also missed out on getting Cloud Bring Arts, because they never seem to send me in-stock notifications. *sigh* That was frustrating as all heck, and now I am left empty handed, and I'll probably have to get him from SE's USA shop, which charges an eye off the face for s/h. T___T;;;

Most of these are Sasuke prize figures, the ones I don't have doubles on here, I already received in previous shipments. Or, I have still to ship. DX I am super happy with all these, and very excited to build the Sasuke model kit, despite it being entry grade. It looks very nice! I also got a few bath-bombs, because one has a Sasuke, and the others are so adorable, Sanrio characters I couldn't pass by! I did get a full set of the Naruto bath-bomb charters, but I had to get six, and got two of Sakura and Naruto! I wish I had gotten two Sasuke instead. I am also happy that World Box's body is a decent match for my Very Cool Miss Spetsnaz head sculpt. I hope the photos of that, don't send this to the dark side... like it matters. lol!

May 29th- Shibuya, Harajuku, and the Meiji

Today was a busy day, and I definitely experienced Tokyo as I dreamed about for years. Our first stop was Shibuya. One of my favorite small culture moments on this trip so far was on the train. We were all huddled together and a stranger sneezed. Without fail, all of us whispered “bless you” and then started giggling when we realized they don’t do that in Japan. I was really happy I got to experience that with everyone. In Shibuya, I was stunned by the scramble. I could’ve sat there for hours and people-watched, but there was no time for that, so I decided to get a better view. The 2nd biggest Starbucks in the world had the best way to see everyone cross the street. From above, it was hard to understand that every person crossing had their own lives. Once I had a small existential crisis, I went to Depato 109. There, I had a fashion crisis as I saw all of the cute stuff. I will definitely have to go back to shop. After our time was up, we walked to Harajuku and shopped around. I had a delicious crepe, and Sam and I got Puripura photos for an hour. That experience was a bit of a culture shock. I have to say that my favorite part of today was walking through the forest to the Meiji Shrine. I don’t think I’ve ever seen something so beautiful in my life. The weather was perfect and slightly rainy. The shrine itself was insane, and it was very special to put my prayers and hopes there. Today was perfect.

Academic Reflection:

The first and most obvious correlation that I found today with the readings was in Harajuku. While I didn’t see any Hello Kitty, I saw a few Lolita-type outfits. I also saw multiple shops selling everything from pink bows to pink bunny ears. Most stores had pink exteriors, and sweets and candy were everywhere. Everything was over-the-top cute. Wano spoke about how some critics believe that this “kawaii” archetype in Japan shows the wrong image to foreigners, and it paints Japan in an emasculated way. I think that’s a pretty stupid take. Not only has this cuteness highly stimulated Japan’s economy, but it promotes the female identity in a way that no one can replicate. I think that it allows so much freedom for women to express themselves.

The second correlation I found in today was at the Meiji Shrine. I learned that offerings of sake were placed at important sites. This doesn’t pertain to anything, but I still thought it was very cool. The image of the two trees representing the Emperor and his wife will stay in my mind forever. This new monogamous relationship type in imperial families was a new concept that was influenced by the West. The second reading talked a lot about Western influences, but it didn’t mention this. I found it very interesting.
