I sealed the painted work on my Damtoys RE2 Remake Leon's head sculpt and glossed the eyes! I'm super happy with him, once again, more so than the factory out-of-box head I received just a few days ago. Remake Leon was my first Damtoys figure I purchased, and I was disappointed when I saw him inside his box. However, I thought, maybe it's just the plastic distortion, because I didn't unbox him then. I got this head parted out from the recently released in the USA classic version. It wasn't distortion, his paint apps were as disappointing as I had feared. I was hoping that because this is a much newer release, the classic version, they would have improved the paint apps. However, they didn't! I always complain about lack of QA and QC from Hot Toys' figures, but at least their paint apps are palatable for 300USD figures. Damtoys Leon's on the other hand... >__<;;
There's a lot I can still improve on, with my repaints, the eyes are not it. They are tiny and my hands don't cooperate. I am still learning however, so i hope to improve little by little, and have no plans to stop repainting and painting as many of my 1:6 toys as I can/I'm willing to! Even if it takes me a lifetime and a half to see any real improvement, I'll continue to try my best each time! And if I fail, I'll just keep repainting the sculpts over and over, because I am stubborn and that's the reason I got them -- to customize them to my liking, even if I suck at it! Lol! (:
I added a few repetitive shots, because my camera/lighting keeps wanting to whitewash him. He's not as pale, heck, I am not pale at all and the coloring in the first photo would probably seem as though I am. He's not tanner than I am, but greyer toned, since I want him to somewhat match his Damtoys body once I have display space for his full-set figure to be unboxed. He's pretty tanned IRL though, because his body is very tanned, or at least the parted out one I got for my OG RE4 3D artist printed head, is pretty tanned and red-toned, which I guess might be factory variances. I don't mind if it's not a perfect match, since he'll always be fully dressed once displayed. I might take some more photos of him on my OG RE4's body, or the RPD uniformed one, just for fun. DX

I finished repainting my Damtoys RE2-Remake Leon. I haven't sealed the work yet and haven't glossed the eyes either (obviously!). But I'm so much happier with him now, than straight from the factory. I know there's a lot of things that could have been done a lot cleaner, but I suck at painting miniatures, and I have shaky hands, so I won't bother to try to make those perfect, because I know I can't! I just don't have the steadiness needed to get a cleaner job. The right iris looks a lot bigger, but I think it's just because of how I painted the iris darker on the left. I tried fixing it but didn't get anywhere and I don't want to ruin, something I know I can't get cleaner... it's a struggle, believe me. T__T;;
The hair on the left photo is from the rooted silicone 1:2 bust by Fantasytoys, I Photoshopped it on to the bang-less head, because plasticly hair makes things look plasticly, and I feel real hair looks better most of the time. I won't bother to make a partial wig for this sculpt, because Damtoys didn't do an accurate job for this hair -- everything else is pretty good. However, they gave him wig-hair. Massive amounts of thick sculpted hair, which is not even accurate to the game, so I don't know why they did it. The bangs are wrong too, but I won't bother making a partial wig, because I can't see it looking good on this as thick as they made the sculpted hair. I would have to remove the back part which is sculpted directly onto the head, and I don't want to do that. I just rather him look plastic and less realistic, I suck at taking photos anyway, so it doesn't really matter anyway....>___>;;;
Look at me making a partial wig down the line, because I am a weirdo who loves real (synthetic fiber) hair on action figures more than sculpted hair... DX

My March 2024 toy haul got here a few days ago. I finally got the physical strength to take some photos! DX Not being dramatic, just old-people's problems, which I don't really enjoy sharing, but here we are.
From top row to the left: Very Cool DZS-007B 1:6 Dou Zhan Shen Series The Holy Man Return Deluxe Head Sculpt (opened eyes vers.); Gift Attack on Titan Plush Series Eren ver.2; Stasto Stand Stones Petit Birth Puchibaasu Attack on Titan Cake Gashapon Eren Non-Scale Figure; BanDai Namco NARUTO Shippuden EFFECTREME -UCHIHA SASUKE- II Non-Scale Figure; Good Smile Company Nendoroid Doll Attack on Titan Eren Yeager; MegaHouse G.E.M. Series My Hero Academia Palm Size Shoto Todoroki Non-Scale Complete Figure; Playful Mind Company TV Anime "NARUTO" Retro Pop ID Photo Style Sticker B Sasuke Uchiha; Cospa NARUTO Shippuden New Illustration Sasuke & Itachi Uchiha Mini Stickers; Cospa NARUTO Shippuden Sasuke Uchiha Acrylic Stand Ver.2.0; Cospa NARUTO Shippuden New Illustration Sasuke Uchiha 65mm Tin Badge; Playful Mind Company TV Anime "NARUTO" Retro Pop Acrylic Stand B Sasuke Uchiha.
Very happy with all these. As always, there isn't a haul that doesn't have at least a million Sasuke Uchiha related stuff.... lol! I never thought there would be so much released based on him alone, back when there was none...DX I'm not complaining, just saying, every other minute there's some new figure or sticker, or file or acrylic stand being released. I only wish I could afford all!
I'm super happy with the Shoto figure, but wish it was either larger, or the box much smaller. There was absolutely no need for the box to be so large, when the figure is so tiny! As a hoarder, MISB collector, I am not happy with unnecessary large figure boxes (the PUP ones are particularly irritating, at times!). Otherwise, I'm happy with all these purchases, the cute Eren plushie and the tiny Eren gashapon, despite the cost of those. T__T;;

More of my Damtoys RE2R (classic ver.) Leon repainted head sculpt, wearing my other Leon's R.P.D. uniformed body. I color corrected the ones from my old (crusty) cellphone. I like how despite this one not always cooperating, it at least doesn't add a thousand pounds of noise on the face. Making it look like I gave Leon sandpaper for skin. DX
These are the ones I took that other time I posted. I just color-corrected some of them a bit, because my cell phone is old, and the camera doesn't cooperate most of the time now. I'm still super happy with him and might be considering making a partial wig for him, now more than ever! I might try to touch up his sculpted hair first (with paint!). We'll see. (;
The last one is my newer cell phone's, but I like it because of how glowy and creepy the eyes look -- I love dark and creepy things...

My Damtoys Remake Leon repainted head sculpt, borrowing my OG-RE4 Leon's bodies. Yes, my OG Resident Evil 4 Leon has many bodies, because I feel that if he needs seven, he'll get seven of them. Not because I am a lazy bum who would rather not undress and redress the bodies with the appropriate clothes, of course...DX
I never in a million years would have guessed I would love this head sculpt half as much as I love it right now! I'm thrilled I decided to finally get a parted out sculpt to repaint. I always wanted to but kept putting it off because the original Remake one was going for so much more than what I am willing to pay for this head sculpt. However, I was lucky I was able to find the classic version in-stock when I did, for a decent price. (:
He is wearing the OG Resident Evil 4 version of the RPD uniform, as I haven't been lucky to get the DAMtoys classic Leon's RPD uniform yet. The first Damtoys Remake release is quite different (as it is in the game), however, I don't need a second of those. I already own the full-set figure, which is still sealed, and I have no current plans to unbox until I have the display room to get him out of the box. Then I'll display that figure with this head. In the meantime, I don't mind photographing this one on borrowed Leon's bodies, or others (my Ken has a suitable Damtoys body as well, luckily!). =^.^=
The first photos are my newer cellphone's work -- it adds so much noise/pixelation, I don't like using it for that reason. And the colors are off, but I think I am getting better using it, so I'll keep doing so. The last four, kind of monotone reddish cast ones rae my old cellphone, which wasn't really cooperating but are "cleaner" sharper images, somehow. DX

I decided to fully-repaint my GT 1:6 scale action figure Sephiroth. I had planned on just cleaning up the lower lids a bit more. I thought that the default paint was strong enough that 90+ percentage isopropyl alcohol wouldn’t remove it, but I was wrong. I had an extremely hard time removing the paint on the lips, so I thought I would be able to only partially remove my heavy pastel shading with alcohol without damaging the factory paint, but that turned out to be a miscalculation on my part. It was just the gloss they used on the lips. They did give this head a few top layers that were easy to remove and damage with alcohol alone, the sad part is that it got into my gloss damaging my repainted irises.
That was the whole reason why I didn’t want to fully repaint this head, because I was okay with the eyes, just the lower eye-lids looking heavily make-up-looking, was what bothered me to no tomorrow.  Just as I dreaded, I wasn’t able to get the irises as bright and cyan/blue as I got them last time. I also wasn’t able to get them as detailed, but I also f-ed up the right one with the doming/glossing bit. Which I also dread to do, because I know how it’s supposed to be done, I just can’t seem to get it done right. DX
Regardless, I am happy with him for now! He doesn’t look like he’s wearing a thousand pounds of eye makeup, so that’s all that really matters to me. The fact that I have no fear now, of damaging the irises anymore (because they turned out like crap!), is kind of freeing in a way. I can always try again as many times as I feel like it, because I know I painted the whole thing myself. I don’t have to fear I’ll ruin something. I was okay with the factory paint minus the lips and eyes, which are the most important to me, as far as character accuracy goes. So now, I just have to keep trying and try to improve along the way! This is only the second head sculpt I paint in the 1:6 action figure customizing style, with acrylics alone, so I think I can hope to improve some. (:
My aim was never to mimic the prototype, because there’s no way in h3ll I’ll ever have that level of precision at that scale, my hands are just not steady enough to paint such clean sharp lines. As can be seen from my crap-lashes. However, I didn’t like the factory done mass-produced final product, it wasn’t close nor “pretty looking” to me. So, that’s why I wanted to attempt repainting mine some, to look more accurate to Sephiroth and less like a mass-produced figure, that failed to reach the perfection that was the prototype’s painting style. I included the last comparison photo just to show what he was supposed to look like, what he looked like out of package, and my partial and full repainting attempts so far. As well as a progress photo. I sealed this only twice, which is why I love not using pastels. BX

More of my Leon S. Kennedy repaint work. Now, it's my DAMtoys RE2 Remake Leon. I got the classic version head sculpt, parted out specifically to repaint him. Just a few days ago, actually. I was hoping this one would have better/nicer paint apps than the regular release, that I got when that one came out a few years ago. However, from what I saw (I haven't unboxed mine due to lack of display space) in his box, this one isn't nicer/cleaner/precise nor accurate to the prototype. Factory paint wise. At least the particular head I got, doesn't seem all that cleaner, or even close to the prototype. I don't doubt the prototype had better photographer, as I am not one by any stretch of the imagination. However, I'm pretty certain the prototype had better paint apps in general than what we got in box/actual-figure-release.
I want my Leon to look like a mixture of Remake and the hyper-realistic Fantasytoys 1:2 Leon bust. When I saw that bust for the first time my jaw dropped to the floor! It's a gorgeous rendition of Remake Leon, so of course I wanted to repaint my Damtoys figure for a long time, ever since. I just was too lazy to unbox him just to get his head sculpt out. The Remake first release head sculpt was going for too much by that time, but now that I got a chance to get a parted out classic version, since it just recently released in the USA. I was able to get a second HS to repaint, without having to unbox mine! Yay! And for not an eye off the face, like the first release is going for nowadays.
I can f-this one up all day, and not worry about regretting it later. Lol! I still need to clean his eyes, brows and lips a bit further, and I want to make him a touch tanner, since the parted Damtoys Remake Leon's body I got from the first release is a lot darker tanned, leaning towards sunburnt. My repaint doesn't look quite as tanned IRL, as he appears in my crap-photos, but his original factory paint was a lot darker tanned, and grayish. More so than the parted-out body (more gray, not tanner). I won't be using that body for him, however, since I do own the whole Remake figure, I will be displaying that full-set figure with this repainted head, once I get more display space/detolfs... who knows when that will happen. >___>;;
The 1st image is how he looks so far vs default Damtoys factory paint. The others are progress photos along the way, and from various angles and lighting positions. (:

I repainted my 3D-artist-resin-cast 1:6 scale Leon S. Kennedy head sculpt, for the millionth time! DX I knew I was going to do so eventually; I was just hoping to not f-up again. Which, I kind of think I might have done, again! Fortunately, I feel like I have discovered a way to make him look more accurate, without being wasteful (of MSC, which is toxic, expensive and a pain in the gut to get). I always considered watching a tutorial or two, about how to paint realistic 1:6 action figures, since way back in the day when 1:6 started getting more realistic looking head sculpts and facial paint apps. I even attempted adding pigmented skin texture to some of my DIM Minimee. However, I was doing that with pastels, with small amounts of acrylic paint for just the line work. Which can be heavy and get really “make-up-like’ for my taste. That’s why I thought why not watch a tutorial now, since I was also looking for tutorials on how to gloss eyes properly. I found it’s pretty much what I’ve been doing (the glossing the eyes part), but my terrible shaky hands are huge handicap, that I’ll probably always mess that up.
The painting is so much easier than anything, but it does take a million watered down layers. I don’t know if should be getting model-grade paints, instead of using my artist-grade Liquitex, which might be too saturated and viscous for this kind of paint work? I don’t know, the artist whose tutorial I saw used only model-grade paints, so I am not certain. From the little bit I found on google searches, it seems any acrylic paint will work but the model-grade paints are more like water, than what Liquitex is like and going from the video, they are a lot less saturated/pigmented as well. Oh well, I’ll settle for what I have for now.
Regardless, I was able to get my Leon to look somewhat closer to what I always envisioned him looking like. I’m not a professional by any stretch of the imagination, and not even remotely good at this yet, but I hope that with the little bit I was able to learn, I’ll improve the next time I try repainting him again. I am kind of tempted to get more 1:6 action figures heads to attempt repainting, however, I am not into real people and those are the only heads that are popular in the 1:6 genre of figures. That or 3D printed unlicensed massed produced heads, which I am not okay with. It’s one thing to commission an individual to make a fan-art version for a small number of people, and another to mass produce every single character from a single brand’s licenses (squareenixfinalfantasycharacters), without even blinking. DX
I am fine with repainting this head as many times as it takes, as I have mentioned before, I just wish I didn’t suck as much at tiny miniature work. So that I could get to the point I will feel satisfied with him, sooner. I took a million photos, so I do believe I like him a lot better already! I can’t wait until I can feel like trying again! Which will probably be sooner than later, you never know when you’ll kick the bucket and that’ll be that! Lol! (: My cell phone that is older than dust, but takes “nicer” photos was dying, so I took most of these with my newer cell phone that takes sharper photos, but less pleasant to the eyes (IMHO). The last two were taken with my old-cell phone, I feel they show the texture a lot better. Although he’s not quite as tomato red, IRL.
He’s not wearing his black shirt that came with this set because I am planning on attempting to recreate the game’s version of the 5.11 tactical shirt that HT made. I am also not wanting to have to remove any stains on the body, as it is partially painted on the upper torso. This body is the Damtoys RE2R Leon’s body, so it’s pretty large, but the head is so big, it makes it look tiny....Lol! I am still angry that the head sculpt was made to be so large. From some angles, you can even see a huge gap at the nape of the neck, because the head is so freaking massive. T__T;;

I've been making more partial wigs for my Leon. I want to get more hair for them, but first I wanted to see if I liked any of the color choices, I already own. I don't have a lot of blonde colors, but I still have a bit left over from the DIM MNM Leon's wig I made, as well as what I used to make the sewn wig I repurposed and made this heads first partial wig out of. I also used some of the silver hair I had left from my DIM MNM Sephiroths' and Kadaj's wigs. I feel l want to give my Leon less brassy hair, which is what his OG DIM MNM wig was made from, very brassy-toned blonde hair. I want something less saturated, and leaning more towards dirty blonde. I might have already mentioned that somewhere. I would prefer my Leon with paler, less saturated blonde, hair. I know in the OG RE4 game he looks golden. Like he ha a golden tan going on, and his hair looks gold-blonde as well. However, I like the hi-res promos of his better, which make his hair in particular look more ash-blonde (dirty-blonde). So, that's what I want.
I feel like I would have been happy, if I could have made the lighter wig in the same shape and bulk of the brassy one... I suck at making wigs though, and these tiny partial ones are a huger pain in the lower back! DX
I didn't make these as neat, and clean as I would have liked, but it was a good learning experience. I still need to make much thinner wefts, and learn how to not over do the bulk. It's a pain in the gut hole, but I feel like I'm slowly getting there. I still need to get fabric for his tactical shirt, but first I want to make a few trial ones. Then, i might repaint him again, so that if I do get lighter hair for his "permanent" partial wig, he won't look as sun-burned (heavily-red-toned), and I might mod his eye area to be more accurate to OG-RE4 Leon. The artist made his eyes like this <--><-->, when they are supposed to be more like this OO. The droping top lid doesn't help...>__>;;;

More of my 3D-sculpted, artist-resin-cast Leon S. Kennedy repainting progress. I cleaned his waterline a bit, and I also cleaned his brows up a bit. I don’t know why my past work on his brows, photographed so bushy/messy, when Leon’s brows are so perfectly well-groomed and have an appealing natural shape (the sculpted ones don’t really seem to be quite right). I just wanted him to look less cartoony, and more accurate -- so I went and tried fixing a few more flaws I saw in my work. Despite the sculpt not being as accurate, I feel like a decent portrait artist could do a magnificent job, painting this head to look one-hundred percent accurate. Sadly, that’s not me!
Unfortunately, the right eye still looks messy, so I am going to be trying to fix that again, soon. And his inner corners look like they’ve been highlighted to h3ll and back, so I’ll have to do something about those as well. I wanted them to pop a bit (so I added a tiny bit of gloss there), because again, they weren’t sculpted accurately, but I didn’t want them to look this bright. They don’t look as “white” IRL, but I suck at photos, so what can I say.
Despite all the sucking, I am happy with how he’s coming along. I still need to get a more accurate shade of dirty-blond synthetic hair, for his new partial wig that I want to make for him. That’s going to be fun (finding the right color, from the internet!). The one he has now, is too bulky. I made it with actual sewn wefts I made myself, so it’s a bit too much hair for a head sculpt this small. Also, it might just be me, but I think his right eye is much larger... I don’t know if I made it seem that way, or if it was actually sculpted that way. T__T;;

My Leon S. Kennedy is finally “done.” I might clean his waterline on the left eye a bit, I don’t why it looks so messy after I added gloss. I added a very light, extremely diluted coat to his lips as well, and it looks okay -- unlike with Sephy’s, whose lips now look like he is wearing metallic silver lip-gloss. >__>;;
I was scared of glossing his eyes, because last time I ruined them by adding too much gloss. For some reason, I can’t seem to do it right on Leon, but it was fine on Sephy. It’s so weird and quite annoying, to be honest. They don’t look too terrible IRL, but they photography weird from some angles, with straight on lighting. I added some terrible flash shots, to show they eyes, and irises are pretty even in size. I don’t know why the gloss makes the right one seem like it has a giant iris, in comparison to the left one.
After I attempt cleaning his waterline, I will call this head completed. I don’t feel like I can get him any more accurate, I suck, and my lashes are crap. However, that is what it is, I can’t improve painting lower lashes because I can’t replace my shaky hands. DX I’m also not that good at portraiture, so yes, this is as good as I’ll get. I do own his RE4 outfit, so I will be putting this head on the DAMToys RE2R Leon’s body, once I make his tactical 5.11 black shirt.
The artist decided to make this head more of a realistic/average sized 1:6 human head, instead of more proportionated to what Leon’s head-to-body ratio are in the game. And because Leon has a very wide jaw in RE4, finding a body with a wider neck is going to be hell. So, I’ll probably just keep mine dressed all the time -- thankfully all the clothes Leon wears in RE4 have tall necks. ^-^;;

More Leon S. Kennedy work in progress. I’m kind of happy with him as he looks thus far. At the same time, I can’t help but feel like I’m doing the same thing I do with all my Leon customizations I’ve done in the past (my DIM MNM Leon head, my 1:6 mod Leon, the times I’ve painted and partially repainted this head in the past). I don’t know if that is a good thing, or if I’m going nuts. Lol! DX
I kind of regret hating doing portraiture when I was younger; now when I need the knowledge, it’s just a frustrating process. I also hate that pastel seems to photograph so “dark” or make-up-like in my crummy photos. I would much rather do all with acrylics, but it just doesn’t lend itself to blend as nicely as pastels. Oh well. I’m stuck with super dark make-up-looking shading in photos, even if that’s not what it looks like IRL. Or, I should purchase a new camera and learn how to set up “decent” lighting. >__>;;;

Crappy cellphone photos of My 3D-artist resin cast 1:6 Leon S. Kennedy head sculpt, once again. I just repainted the eyes this time, because last time I kind of f-ed them up, by adding too much gloss. It’s a pain in the gut painting on such a small area with acrylics and getting it to look as smooth, clean and as detailed as possible. I wanted to add more detail, but with such a small area like this, when you have shaky-hands of a drunk, it’s better to do less (IMHO). I think I'm done for now. Maybe later when I start to scrutinize every single small flaw, I’ll repaint the whole thing all over again. Now I just have to consider whether I want to add gloss or keep the eyes matte. DX
I took the second image when the MSC was still drying, so the eyes look particularly weird/semi-gloss. I think I painted the right iris a bit off center, giving him the dreaded lazy-eye look, which is kind of not too noticeable, thanks to the hair right in-front of it, but it’s kind of starting to bother me. ^__^;;
I got a loose DAMToys RE2R Leon S. Kennedy body, so I can use it with this head sculpt. I originally got the WorldBox AT011 for it, but then I decided my VeryCool Monk head look good on it, and was too slim for Leon, so I got this one very conveniently meant for the same character, instead.

I spent the whole day (it was already pretty lat, but went on to late in the night) yesterday cleaning up my Leon’s irises, and sclera. I feel this is as “clean,” as my shaky-as-the-dickens-hands will allow, so I will stop here. I also lightened his hair quite a bit. It looks so much darker in these photos, but the camera also wants to make him look a lot more tanned, for some reason. I’m guessing it’s because his hair is that much lighter now. I gave him a thousand layers of acrylic paint to fix the walleyed right-eye, and a few more layers of pastel after sealing with MSC, to fix the chipped areas. I will be adding one final layer of MSC to seal the work. I am still unsure if I will gloss the eyes, because that tends to go very bad for me, when it comes to eyes for 1:6-heads with sculpted eyes, I painted myself. >__<;;;
Regardless, I am happier with how he’s not walleyed anymore. I’m okay with never getting my painted eyes on a 1:6-scale head to be as clean as they were a few decades ago -- I suck, but it wasn’t this terrible (or at least, my crappy memory believes that!). I am so much older now, and my hands just keep getting shakier, and shakier by the minute.
And there, I was hoping the artist who 3D-sculpted this head would print the head smaller, more accurate proportionately to Leon in RE4, but he went with more “realistic-human” proportions. To which I was a bit upset about initially, but couldn’t say anything because this Leon wasn’t sculpted just for me. It would have made it that much harder to paint his eyes (harder for me), had he been that much smaller, now I think in hindsight.
 I know Leon has a very squared jaw in RE4, but 1:6 bodies tend to have very narrow necks (from experience), and I was worried having a larger head closer to human-proportions at that scale, would make finding a wide enough neck a nightmare. Indeed, it seems like that’s how it’s going to be. I was hoping that the DAMtoys RE2R Leon’s body would be semi-decent, but the neck is too narrow for this head as well. Despite the body is being quite buff, what many would call a muscle body in the 1:6 hobby. So, it’s going to be a royal-pain in the gut hole, to get a proportionate body for this head. At least, one with a wide-enough-neck, that doesn’t make him look like an apple on a stick. My biggest pet-peeve with BJD, now translated into 1:6, for one of my favorite characters of all time. Good grief. DX
