ROTTMNT: Turtle Pile
A terrified cry for help reaches the three older tot brother’s ears.
"Mikey?!" They make eye contact with each other before racing to Michael's room.
Opening the door, the only thing lighting the room is a little nightlight of a unicorn. It's flickering, showing the silhouette of a little orange turtle. Shaking like a leaf, Mikey looks up.
''R-Raph?''
''Hey, bud.'' Raph replies. While he and the crew nears he adds: ''What's up?''
''The sky..'' The little box shell's head slumps onto his folded knees.
A snort Leo lets out is cut short by an elbow from both Raph and Donnie in each of the slider's hips.
''It's... doing the scary noises again.'' Mikey's eyes stray to his night light. ''Even Jorge is scared..''
''Aw, Mike. It's just a little thunder. It can't hurt ya.'' The snapping turtle sits down next to Michael.
''Yeah! You're kinda in a bunker here, bro.'' Leo plops beside the two. ''Nothin' is getting through here, right D?'' Throwing the stick to Don, which he wasn't prepared to catch, the soft shell steadies his glasses.
"O-Of course! These sewers are one of the safest areas to be at during storming weather conditions. I can guarantee that being struck by lightning is highly improbable.''
''See? Even D knows it's a pro babble!''
''Improbable.''
''Yeah? That's what I said.''
The two lock eyes, though Donnie knew from experience that this is a battle which doesn't deserve his effort.
''Although, if this was a flood, we would be in danger. We can hold our breaths for a long while, but we would have to move to a different area- Ah-''
Now noticing that his brothers were signing him to stop talking, little Mikey begins to cry.
''Shh, Mikey! There's no flood! It's ok!''
As Raphael and the others try to calm their little brother down, a light crack in the sky followed by a loud rumble trembles the floor beneath them.
''AAAH!'' Mikey screams, covering his ears with the hope the drums above the clouds would stop.
But then, without warning, Jorge's light goes out.
''J-Jorge?'' Mikey looks up to see only darkness. ''Raphie?'' With each cry, the box shell feels his anxiety grow. ''Le-Le? Dee?''
The orange turtle senses getting jostled. At first, it freaked him out even more, but then it became more and more familiar.. and warm.
''I got it.'' The soft shell calls out. Within a few seconds, the night light blinks back to life. Though, Donnie didn't just fix the light, he worked his magic to make Jorge slowly switch to each of the colours of the rainbow.
Now being able to see clearly, Mikey's eyes widen. He's now being held by his big red brother in the opening of his crossed legs.
''In case anythin' tries to hurt ya, I'll be the roof!'' Raphael brings out a toothy grin.
''Oh! Oh! I'll be like- the really, really important cool guy! I'll be so cool that I can stomp on the ground and scare that thunder away!'' Imitating a ‘woosh’ sound, Leo let himself fall on Raph's side.
''I'll make that lightning a light thing!'' He winks, causing both the turtles to giggle.
''Aaand since nobody knows how lightning works, I guess I'll be the lightning rod.'' A tad reluctant, the soft shell leans against the snapping turtle's back shell.
Raph wraps his arms around Leo and Mikey as the drowsiness takes hold. With Jorge keeping a watchful eye, the rainbow colored turtle pile dozes off.
Looks like tomorrow will be sunny.

Decided to post the final chapter a day early! No Fun in Fungus chapter 5! I’ve submitted myself to @tmntaucompetition and the submissions close tomorrow if you wanted to submit this au as well! Thank you to everyone for supporting and reading!

“What did we do!?” Leo shouts in confusion.
“I know there’s something you want to apologize for. Even if it’s not your fault.” Mikey insists.
Leo glances away then takes a breath and looks at Donnie.
“I’m sorry about S.H.E.L.L.D.O.N.”
“It seems Mikey can apparently tell the future now because I have no idea why you’d apologize for that.” Donnie deadpans.
“I sent him to go protect gram-gram. He was destroyed because of me.”
“He was destroyed because the Krang loves hurting our family and possessed our extra great grandfather. I’m just glad you didn’t try to do something stupid like face him alone. It would have been your parts I’d have to find scattered around.”
“But….Donnie, you loved S.H.E.L.L.D.O.N. How are you not upset? You hate when I break your inventions, and he was way more than just an invention.”
“Are you kidding? You’re really asking me that? I can’t rebuild you! You are not easily replaceable, Leo! I know what I say and how we joke around but I thought that’s just what we did! Do you think I mean everything!? That I want you to be like gram-gram!? Like all the Hamato before us!? No! When I told you to sacrifice yourself to buy us time I said it because you like jokes! I-I didn’t say it so you could go jump into a portal to save the world! Screw the world! Screw all of it if it means I lose anyone!” Donnie ends up tearing up at the end.
Leo feels a lot of guilt creep up inside him. He was very aware about how being in the prison dimension and getting so hurt affected everyone.
At least he thought he was.
“I don’t think that, I’ve never thought that! You guys know I don’t just do this kind of stuff whenever, right?” Leo frantically looks between the three of them.
None of them can meet his gaze.
The guilt turns into a bit of hurt.
“Jeeze, you sacrifice yourself for the sake of the world once and suddenly you’re the craving death guy.” He deflects.
“Leo!” Mikey shouts, eyes starting to glow again.
“You’re joking now? Right at this moment? Am I hallucinating again? You can not be serious!” Donnie joins in on yelling.
Leo looks away from them, eyes landing on Raph.
He’s the only one who doesn’t get angry which surprises Leo. The anger was there at first, he could see it, then it flickered to something else.
Realization.
“You told us and I never thought you were bein serious.”
Donnie raises an eyebrow.
“Told us what exactly?”
“That he jokes to cope. You’re not telling jokes because you don’t care, you’re telling jokes because you’re afraid.”
Leo bites the inside of his cheek.
“I thought I was pretty obvious about it until you guys kept coming after me during the first Shredder situation. If I don’t joke, then I just stop moving and that leaves all of us without portals!”
“Why didn’t you just tell us? It sounds like you were scared the entire time!” Mikey frowns.
“Of course I was! He turned Draxum into a freaking raisin and almost killed dad! How could I not be scared!? What good would telling you I’m scared be? So you could do what? Actually, let me tell you exactly what you’d do. You’d do what you’ve been doing since Mikey rescued me and ignore everything just to make sure I’m okay. We didn’t have the time for that back then.”
“How often do you not tell us how you’re feeling just because it’s inconvenient or a detriment to the mission?” Donnie narrows his eyes.
“Have you considered how much I do say what I’m feeling only for you guys to say I’m being paranoid or messing around? Oh Leo, we should trust the weird spider lady. Leo, stop spraying the bugs to protect this guy from getting mutated. Who cares if we might get hurt during the mutant panic?”
Leo regrets his words as he sees the look of hurt on Raph’s face.
He sighs heavily.
“It’s not on you, big bro. The bigger problem is we kind of all ignore each other? I’m still afraid of bringing up the pizza puffs incident because I’m worried you’ll blow a blood vessel. Donnie got pretty mad about the pizza pigeon too. And then….” He trails off, remembering just how badly he messed up.
“Maybe that’s because we weren’t paying attention to your feelings then either.” Mikey says softly.
“No, what I did was all my fault. You and Donnie could have died.”
“You chose the wrong thing to do, but you were….really messed up, Leo. You didn’t even have much time after your panic attack. We should have taken over for you, or at least try to make you see you weren’t okay.”
“Then….I’m sorry that for as much as I talk, I don’t say what I need to say as much. I’ll try to do better, try to help us all do better.”
Mikey smiles brings him over, nuzzling his cheek against his.
“I suppose it’s my turn now. I am sorry for….a lot of things. I….know how I can be. While I have come to terms with the fact that there are parts of me that I should accept and never change, I do realize what you all put up with sometimes. I don’t always take care in focusing on what you all do for me, small things that can be taken for granted. I want you all to know that no matter what I say or do, I would still personally tear out the still beating heart of anything that comes after us. Then, I would put it on display as a warning.” Donnie says that last part nonchalantly.
There’s a few seconds of silence before Donnie is pulled into the collective hug.
The others are crying.
“Donnie, we love you too!” Mikey sobs.
“That was beautiful, Dee.” Raph sniffles.
“I’ve never heard you say something so emotional, kinda liking the mushy side.” Leo smiles through tears.
Donnie can’t help but tear up too.
He really did love his family more than anything.
Mikey soon lowers everyone down, the chains disappearing as well.
“Can Raph ask how you did all that now!?” Raph grips him by the shoulders.
“I….I don’t even really know. I just thought our family was going to fall apart and it just happened.” Mikey answers.
Donnie glances around.
“Your chains managed to get rid of a lot of the spores. I think the mushrooms must be weak to light like yours.”
Mikey’s eyes light up.
“I can make those things go away?”
“That’s my working theory, but…..I worry about your arms. I’m surprised that they aren’t hurt again now.“
“There is a pretty big difference between chains and opening up a portal to another dimension.” Leo comments, subtly checking over Mikey’s arms.
Mikey hums as he tries to think of a solution.
“Donnie, could you make a weapon?”
He makes a gun and hands it to him.
“Donnie!” Leo and Raph shout.
“Oh calm down, it’s just a dart gun.”
Mikey imbues the weapon with some of his ninpo.
“I need a mushroom to test it out on.”
Raph picks up Leo and Donnie in one arm and Mikey in another.
“Let’s find you one then.”
He carries them all off and together they carefully search for the mushrooms.
Eventually several start making their way towards them and Mikey shoots.
The bodies shrivel up almost right away at the ninpo dart stabbing them.
“Alright Mikey!” Leo cheers.
“If it’s his light that does it….then maybe these will work!” Donnie creates three UV light flashlights.
He hands two to Raph and Leo and wriggles out of Raph’s hold.
“Let’s make these mushrooms which they never evolved.”
The brothers start exterminating every single mushroom they come into contact with.
It feels nice to be able to take out the things that have been torturing them all night.
It’s almost cathartic. They couldn’t truly destroy the source of their fears, but they could waste some crappy mushrooms that triggered their PTSD.
“Do you think that was the last of them?” Raph questions after a lot of walking yielded no more mushrooms.
“When this kind of thing happens in movies, isn’t there usually one big version that controls the others?” Leo answers with his own question.
“I hate where you drew that conclusion from, but I hate that you’re right even more. My goggles picked up a much larger amount of mystic energy in one of the tunnels.” Donnie adds.
“Then we know what we gotta do. Those things aren’t going to hurt anymore people. Everyone on board?” Raph looks around.
Everyone nods with the same look of determination Raph has.
They grab their real weapons for good measure before heading down the tunnel Donnie got the reading from.
He and Mikey walked behind Raph who had Leo using his arm for assistance walking again.
Mikey can’t help but still feel a little afraid of the darkness they leave behind as they walk with their lights.
Donnie gently, purposefully bumps his hand against Mikey’s.
Mikey smiles a bit and holds his hand.
He smiles more when he notices Donnie’s tail wag.
After a good amount of walking, they come across the end of the tunnel that goes to a large opening.
Inside was a colony of the smaller mushrooms surrounding a humongous one.
“Let’s slice him up like he’s going on a pizza.” Raph readies his weapons.
The mushrooms start coming at them all’s
Leo opens up portals to send him and the others to different locations.
Raph mows down the mushrooms with his projection and Donnie supplies some clones with more UV lights.
Mikey jumps and flips around like crazy using mainly his legs as he shoots at the mushrooms. It’s freeing, not focusing on what he can’t do for once.
Donnie made grander, larger weapons with every launch of his ammunition. He let himself go all out. Therapeutic in its own way.
Leo may or may not be taking too much advantage of being able to use his portals again. They were useful in this chaotic fight sure, but it also meant a lot to be able to move around better.
This is the first fight they’ve had since the Krang and each of them felt like they got something back from it.
They keep fighting until the big mushroom finally ends up the same way as all the smaller ones.
The ones that were still alive also followed suit.
Now that the fight was over, they dragged themselves back to their home. It was entirely too late in the night and everything they went through was exhausting in its own right.
Mikey looks up at Raph, eyes almost closing, and makes grabby hands.
Raph feels his heart swell. It’s just like when they were kids.
He lifts him up, cradling him like he did Leo at the beginning of this whole situation.
Leo smiles tiredly at seeing them.
“Remember when you tried to convince me you were older and I said that all big brothers give piggy back rides? I can’t believe you and your big brain fell for that.”
Donnie considers this and suddenly stops right in front of him. When Leo almost falls over on him, Donnie takes the opportunity to get him on his shell.
“I am older.”
Leo rests his chin on Donnie’s head.
“Fine, just this once.”
Raph and Donnie carry their brothers to Raph’s room.
When Donnie, Mikey, and Leo are in the bed, Raph grabs his fluffiest possible blanket out of his collection and pulls it over all them after he’s wrapped himself around.
Donnie had his arm spread over Mikey and Leo who were cuddled up together.
Mikey also held Raph’s tight in his arms like it was the world’s most comfortable teddy bear.
They all drifted off to sleep, knowing that even if there were more nightmares, they’d deal with them.
None of them would ever be alone.

Memories and GIBD crossover (part 2?? Ig)
@tmnt-crossover-polls we got propaganda!!
Thank you dearly @theawesomeninja-xd for collabing with me by the way! I had a lot of fun! They own literally every other character except Angel and Neon.
When Neon and Angel heard who they were against in the polls Neon immediately decided to set up a cupcake stand. Angel didn’t know why but he loved the idea.
So here the two were trying to make a cupcake stand from random things in the back with Angel running around and being  Angel. (God Neon wished he had that energy.)
“WE HAVE A BEANIE!!!"
Neon practically jumped at the sudden yelling. He turned around, finding a way too hyper Leon excitedly showing the beanie.
"Look, look! We got it! Just like we promised!!!"
Meanwhile, a much more drained Rafa gave a half wave as he caught up to his brother. "Hey Neon, we're back....ah, cupcakes." He thoughtlessly grabbed one and threw it into his mouth.
Neon smiled at the shenanigans and sighed softly, “thanks for keeping your promise,” then he turned to Rafa, “you look awful.”
Angel, who has already jumped over the counter of the cupcake stand somehow not touching any of the pastries, gasped at Neon with a Beanie now in his hands, “Neon!”
Wait...Angel had a beanie already? So who's--
Angelo promptly took the beanie from Leon and put it on neon's head. He looked pretty out of it too.
"This one's yours. Oh and as to your comment. We kinda fought with the adults and everyone had to make up and I had to make sure no one hated themselves so no one really got sleep since....a day ago?"
 ...What...?
"Oh...uh...sorry to hear that. Where's Dee by the way?"
Rafa finished another cupcake. "He ran off to hand out arson....arsa..."
"Arsenic," Leon corrected with way too much enthusiasm.
"Yeah that. I dunno what what it does, but he seemed happy."
Neon chuckled, “Donnies will be Donnies, thank you by the way.” He took the beanie happily.
“That sounds cool!” Angel said excitedly, then turned to the group, “you wanna join us in making cupcakes? We can show you how!”
"Yeah sure," Angelo responded, "Although Rafa has to stop eating them." He lightly shook him. Rafa paused and gave an embarrassed smile.
"I wanna help!" Leon broadcasted.
"What, no!" Angelo said. "Don't you remember why you're banned from the kitchen?"
"Noooo I wanna help!"
“You can help if you want Leon. And don’t worry about it Rafa they are there for a reason.” Neon waved away at the air besides him. “Come on I can show you what to do.”
“HELL YEAH COOKING BUDDIES!” Angel exclaimed dragging the closest turtle behind the booth. “Come on I’ll show you my speciality!”
——
Neon probably should've kept an eye on Leon.
As he was working on his own batch, something suddenly exploded. Leon then waddled over to Neon with a hand behind his head and covered in ash.
"Okay, so this looks kinda bad..."
"Kinda??" Angelo exclaimed. "What did you even do??"
Neon grimaced and then slowly exhaled. "I'm...sure it's fixable." He laughed a bit. "Just show me where--"
"THERE YOU ARE!!"
Neon jumped again. How many people were going to give him a near heart attack??
He turned around to find...Raph?
He looked a little older, so probably not from their dimension. But it was definitely him.
"Where have you been?? You keep running off and scaring Leo--why is there a giant Leon...?"
Neon waved slightly looking like a deer in the headlights at the again sudden outburst.
Angel moved from where he was teaching the other turtles how to sneak in random ingredients to where Raph stood.
Bouncing on his legs with a cupcake in his hands, he spoke a bit faster than normal, “Hi! Welcome to the cupcake booth! Take one for your time in the polls!”
Looking even more confused, older Raph gave Neon another curious look and then stared at Angel for a bit.
"...uh...thanks I guess." He took several cupcakes before awkwardly patting his head.
Neon swore he saw him smile a bit.
He put the serious face back on, turning to the other kids. "You three. We're going before Leo has a meltdown." Despite the excuse, he looked like he was relieved himself.
Angelo shrugged, climbing on Rafa's back. Older Raph grabbed Rafa's hand as Leon looked around wildly.
"Uh...bye Neon! Bye other big Mike!"
“Come back any time!” Angel waved wildly copying Angelo as he climbed onto Neons shell so he can wave to them from a higher vantage point.
“Thank you for the beanie you four,”Neon called out to the turtles as the older Raph turned to leave, “Come back if you wanna make more cupcakes.”
The kids waved back. The older Raph smiled a bit at them before reprimanding the others about wandering off.
WOOOOO LESSGOOO!!

So, the first chapter of that fungus fic I have blew up! Thanks for the kind comments, you guys got me motivated to write the second chapter! If you don’t want me to tag you in the next one, just let me know. Here is chapter two of No Fun in Fungus.
@daboyau
@theawesomeninja-xd
@nights-flying-fox
@phoebepheebsphibs
“There was really something in here….and I just treated him like he was crazy.” Mikey frowns, staring up at the creature.
Raph blinks away the last bits of sleepiness and takes a step back.
“It…is it just me or does it look like….?”
“Y-Yeah. Let’s leave it here and tell Donnie.” Mikey holds onto Raph’s arm while still holding the battle shell.
“Good idea, big guy.” Raph carefully stays in front of Mikey as they leave the room.
Even as the doors close behind them, he continues making sure he could protect him from all angles.
Only when they hear screaming does he drop it in favor of picking Mikey up and running with him to medbay. Mikey panics, knowing that Donnie’s biggest defense was currently in his hands.
Raph barges in, seeing Donnie sitting next to Leo on the med bed and tossing a thick medical book at something scurrying around on the floor.
“Be careful! Don’t come any closer!” Donnie frantically warns as it misses.
“What’s going on!?” Raph shouts.
“It’s in the room! Either New York rats got even more mutated or it’s a creature I don’t know and both thoughts are equally terrifying!”
Mikey stares hard at the floor, his hand carefully changing its grip on the battle shell.
“Go robo arms!” He tosses the shell as a blur rushes towards Raph.
The arms pop out, grabbing whatever it is and lifting it up so that it can’t escape.
“Good shot Mikey!” Donnie cheers as he gets down from the bed.
“It looks just like what was in my room….” Mikey comments.
Donnie stops.
“Leo wasn’t just seeing things?”
Mikey shakes his head sadly.
“He really was protecting me.
Donnie frowns for a second, then sighs.
“Oh great, he’s going to brag about this forever.”
Mikey smiles softly. He’s aware this is probably an attempt to make him feel better.
“I think we can let him have this one.”
Raph looks at the both of them in confusion.
“Can someone explain everything to Raph?”
Donnie and Mikey tell him all about what happened.
Raph sets Mikey down and goes over to Leo, picking him up and cradling him before sitting down on the bed.
His eyes trail down the cracks on his plastron.
It doesn’t go unnoticed by Donnie and Mikey.
Mikey feels his lip tremble.
Donnie’s fists tighten.
He pulls his goggles down to look over the intruder still in a metallic grasp.
“There’s a mystic energy surrounding it, and spreading. Its particles are going into the air. Luckily it’s not enough to effect us yet, but inhaling said smaller particles could have lesser effects.”
“But what does it actually do?” Raph questions.
“As you know, I hate working with incomplete data. I’m going to have to test it first in my lab.”
“We’ll go with ya. Who know s how many others of those things are runnin around?”
Donnie’s face seems to grow conflicted, biting the inside of his cheek.
It was hard to hide his emotions when he actually wanted to.
“I don’t know if Leo is in the right condition to be moved around so much.”
“We can’t just let you go alone. It’s too dangerous.”
Donnie sighs.
“Right. Fine. Let’s go.”
Raph gets off the bed and picks up the vitals monitor that Donnie set up.
Donnie grabs a metal pole from the medical supplies and slides the shell out of the room so that he doesn’t have to get his face close to pick it up.
Out of habit, Raph attempts to stay in front of or by the side of Mikey and Donnie.
The two don’t allow this.
Donnie stays in the front while Mikey purposefully walks slow.
Neither of them planned it with each other. It was a silent agreement that they were not going to let anything come near Raph or Leo.
Eventually they make it to Donnie’s lab.
He has the doors close behind Mikey while Raph gently lays Leo on a bed in there.
He makes sure that the monitor is still well connected to him.
Donnie gets the shell and creature into an analysis chamber. It closes shut before the process begins.
He taps away at his computer until something pops up.
“The particles seem to be spores that release a toxin which effects different parts of the brain. The main ones are the hippocampus and the amygdala.”
“Uh….and what does your science brain know about those parts?” Raph questions.
“The hippocampus handles a lot of things so that isn’t good, and the amygdala….is in charge of fear.”
Mikey tenses.
“So….it could cause nightmares?”
Donnie nods.
“Since there was one in your room, it’s the most likely cause of your and Leo’s nightmares. Judging by his reaction they must have been intense. What was yours about?”
Mikey looks down.
“Is it really going to help to hear what I saw?”
“As much as it might be painful, yes. We need to be aware.”
Mikey wrings his hands together.
“In the first one, L-Leo….Leo said he hated me because I….I-I’m why you…..died. You got crushed by that freaky train monster.”
Donnie’s eyes widen before he glances away.
“So we can assume that they’re not based in any capacity of truth in the slightest.”
Mikey smiles very softly at hearing that.
Raph gently pats his head.
“Was there another one? You said first like there was a second.”
“It was….back when the Krang made you fight Leo….e-everyone but me was dead.“
Mikey can almost feel the fear that flashes through Raph through the explanation.
He, to his credit, tries to avoid it showing so that Mikey doesn’t get guilt over talking about it.
“That is never gonna happen, Raph swears on his bears.”
Donnie lifts up his goggles and puts his hand to his chin.
“They’re both dreams about the Krang. There could be some kind of connection.”
Mikey hides his face in his shell a bit.
“For once I hope you’re wrong.”
Raph puts his fists together.
“If their chewed up bubble gum lookin faces try to mess with us again, they’ll wish they were still trapped in that prison dimension.”
Donnie goes back to typing on his computer.
“I could create a tracker for these things using the pollen sample, and a way to combat its effects wouldn’t hurt.”
Mikey sighs in relief.
He could always count on his brothers, even if that made him feel bad after the fact.
Even if he didn’t believe Leo at first.
He brings his head out of his shell and suddenly sees something making its way from the under side of Donnie’s computer desk.
“Donnie! Look out!”
Donnie is barely able to making a noise in confusion before he gets grabbed back, basically pulled off his feet, by Raph.
This, however, leaves the snapping turtle wide open for the mushroom to jump at and land on his face.
Mikey and Donnie shout as a spore cloud gets sprayed in his face.
Raph grabs it off and throws it as hard as he can away, making it stop moving. He starts coughing from inhaling so much at once.
“Raph! Are you okay!?” Mikey asks with extreme panic.
Raph wipes at his eyes.
“Don’t worry big guy, it’ll take more than weird dust to take me down.” He turns to smile at Mikey before his face falls.
Mikey hadn’t seen him this terrified since Leo talked about closing the portal.
Raph’s breathing grows heavy.
Donnie quickly moves in front of him.
“Raph, what’s going on?”
Raph tears up, hand shakily raising up to put Donnie’s cheek in his hand.
“It’s….it’s gonna be okay, alright? I’m here, R-Raph’s here!”
Donnie and Mikey are both entirely confused.
They have no way of knowing what their brother is seeing.
Both of them are blind to the pink, wriggling tentacles in his vision.
Donnie doesn’t know that there’s Krang around his jaw, spreading onto his shoulders and even infecting his goggles somehow.
Mikey is unaware of the pink goo covering his right eye, or the grotesque mouth replacing the palm that was normally hand in hand with one of his brother’s.
Most of all, nobody would be able to truly understand just how much it was taking him to not run, not be so scared that he shuts down.
He never told a soul what the Krang made him see when they tricked him into revealing their lair.
Despite how he suffered, what hurt him worse was how he failed his family. He wasn’t strong enough to fight against it.
He doesn’t know what he’ll do if he messes up again.
Donnie carefully moves Raph’s hand away and squeezes it.
“Raph. You have to tell me what you’re seeing.”
“Y-You don’t feel it? It doesn’t hurt?….You can talk? I couldn’t….”
“You couldn’t?….You think we’re krangified.”
Raph blinks some tears away.
“Y-You’re…..not?”
“Listen to me Raph, it’s only a hallucination. We’re okay. Close your eyes and just focus on me.”
“Dee, I can’t, I-I just can’t, what if somethin happens? I have to be able to protect you, Mikey and Leo!”
“The best way you can do that is to trust us.”
Raph inhales sharply.
“Okay, okay….” He closes his eyes.
Donnie moves Raph’s hand back up to his face, allowing him to feel that there were no regularities.
Raph seems to relax slightly.
“There’s nothing there. The Krang aren’t here, they’re gone.” Donnie insists.
“Mikey, could ya say something too?”
“I’m here Raph! I’m all good. We both are.” He puts Raph’s other hand on his face as well, nuzzling into it.
Raph slowly, nervously, opens up his eyes and smiles when he sees the normal faces of his brothers.
He pulls his hands away and hugs them tightly in relief.
“Quick thinking, Donnie.”
Donnie smirks slightly.
“I take payments in the form of being the top of the turtle pile and extra chances to pick the show we watch during hangout time.”
Him and Mikey feel the rumble of chuckling from Raph.
“Looks like we sorta figured out a way to snap each other out of it.”
“And we know we can hear each other when it happens.” Mikey adds.
“I’d rather stay on the safe, scientific side and create something to eradicate all these pests.” Donnie interjects.
Raph opens his mouth to talk, but stops short when he looks behind them.
“Guys, more got in!” He turns the two around so they can see.
Somehow, a group of the creatures slipped in and we’re just waiting there and staring at them.
The group scream in a high pitched way as Donnie tries to get the doors opened.
Once they are, Raph grabs Leo and everyone runs out together.
This is the thing that finally wakes him up.
He groggily lifts his top half up from over Raph’s shoulder.
“Ugh, I feel like the teapot after getting used for sports ball….”
“Leo!” Donnie, Mikey and Raph yell in unison.
“That’s my name, don’t wear it-….wait, that thing in Mikey’s room!”
“We’re running from a bunch of them now!” Mikey explains.
“There’s more!? Where are they coming from!?”
“No current clue about that!” Donnie answers.
“We should warn dad!”
“He went to his Hidden City poker night! We won’t be back until tomorrow!”
“Then I can just portal us to safety-“
“No!“ The others yell at the same time.
“You guys! This is not the time for me to keep up the promise! Let me just get us to April’s and then you can yell at me later!” He looks around for something to turn into a sword.
“I thought you learned to trust us, Leo!” Raph says angrily.
“I do trust you! That doesn’t mean I can’t tell when you guys are making bad decisions because you’re too focused on me! So stop running and let me make sure we’re all safe! Me included!” Leo pushes up from his shoulder.
Raph slowly stops running, followed by Donnie and Mikey.
They were all aware that they might have been a bit suffocating with how they hover over Leo ever since he did what he did.
To his credit, he hasn’t complained even once until right now.
And also to his credit, it was for good reason.
Raph gently sets him down.
“Leo….I’m-“
“Nope, no “I’m sorries.” I don’t need it. I’m not mad. You guys know how much I love being the center of attention.” He smiles as he kneels down to look more.
Raph smiles as well.
“Here, take the pole I got from the med bay.” Donnie suggests.
“Always got just what we need.” Leo takes it and then has a sword in his hand.
As this interaction is happening, Mikey looks a bit into the darkness of the area in front of them.
He’s horrified when the darkness takes shape and starts squirming.
A horde of creatures begin wriggling out.
It’s too late to do anything as the others also notice.
A spore cloud envelopes them.
