I'm over 26k words into a personal writing project

It's taken me several, several starts and iterations and character reworkings. I've probably scrapped twice as much that in things that needed to be restarted and reworked. It's been an off an on project for some five years, and maybe less than thirty thousand doesn't sound all that impressive on that scale of time....

But I want to finish this so bad. I want to make this weird sci-fantasy alien mermaid/pirate story WORK. The sheer force of bone rattling glee I feel when someone sees what absolute WHACK shit I've done will be worth it. Right?
