Izana likes to keep useful things , and useful things include people who are strong , but more importantly obedient. Inui’s use has been at a steady decline ever since he decided to dig up his morals and hold them close to his heart again. It’s funny really , but it’s mostly pathetic.

He supposes he should have kept a tighter grip on that leash so his wayward dog didn’t go searching for a new owner. It’s a typical thing , he finds , the moment he turns his head , the so called ‘ loyal ‘ like to play the game: how fast can we disappear from Kurokawa Izana’s life. The trick he finds works best is to always be watching  — but Inui isn’t worth his attention , so he can go wag his tail at that nobody Takemichi and pretend that being kind will get you somewhere in the world. The kindest man he ever knew is dead , and Izana won’t hesitate to enact the same results on anyone who stands in his way.

So Inui can bare his fangs all he wants , he needs knights and advisors , not everyone’s second choice.
