As the decades go on Vash becomes more Plant-like in appearance and starts to only speak telepathically with audible non-word/one-word sounds being a rarity. Eventually he is confined to a tank due to his size and changed biological makeup.

He just needs a descendant to be as he once was and continue on with his purpose.
