You carefully touched the bill to the price tag. ‘Kromer’ was supposed to be a play on 'Kroner’ but the tag specified USD, so you hadn’t bothered looking up the currency exchange rate.

Nothing happened.

You let out a disappointed breath you hadn’t realized you were holding. Oh, who were you kidding. Too much leftover pizza, stress, sleep deprivation… wishful thinking. Yes, the actualization of vore enticed you, but you also kind of wanted to explore. Talk to any other NPCs - hopefully not in the Snowgrave run in which you’d found yourself - like Swatch or Queen or anyone, really.

Distracted by the ringing of your landline - yes, they were still useful and you would die on that hill - you neither saw the glasses shift as if squinting against the light nor heard the tag rustle as if feeling about for something.

Wait a minute… you’d unplugged the phone earlier in the morning to clean out the receiver; a friend had made you laugh in the middle of eating. You’d made a loaded PBJ, delicious, but messy.

‘THEN WHO WAS PHONE?’ you snickered. Hey, you thought you were hilarious, and that was all that mattered.

Hand shaking with mixed trepidation and hope, you reached for the handset, relishing the small click as you lifted it off the stand. It was loud; you could hear the fast beeping tone long before you held it up against your ear. Clearing your throat, you said hesitantly, “Hello?”

A shrill electronic screech made you wince in pain, unable to hear anything past the ringing in your ears and the static in your… eyes?
