The worst thing about my brain being an autopilot grammar nazi is that every single time I see people misuse “it’s” and “its” as well as apostrophe placements is that I don’t want to be rude and correct people... but my brain still is like UGH THIS IS THE WORST.
“It’s” and “Its” are more just my brain going weeo weeo on me when that’s a more understandable one bc “its” is literally the exception to a rule (because “it’s” actually means “it is”, so to avoid it being used for two meanings the apostrophe is removed for ownership cases), but when I see apostrophes before an S for plural wording and I know they speak English properly I’m just like. ugh. damn. bruh. please. go back to school.
Less severe cases of incorrect apostrophe use tends to be like, when people are playing Heroes and have duplicates of units and are like “my Ike’s” instead of “my Ikes”, because I think people are trying to... make it more clear that it’s referring to more than one? I think? Maybe? Or they literally just don’t realize it’s incorrect grammar, idk lol. Still can’t get past my weeo weeo autopilot brain though sadly.
LIKE. IT’S NOT ANYONE’S FAULT THAT MY BRAIN IS WEEO WEEO, IT JUST IS.
Which speaking of Heroes, FE in general seems to have its script in every single game ever coded to always use apostrophes for ownership cases even when the word ends in S, so don’t worry folks. IntSys isn’t getting off scot free from my brain either LOL. No amount of “princess’s” is ever gonna fly with my weeo weeo brain.
this has been a psa
mainly a psa of my brain weeo weeos
#DCB Comments#but the absolute worst offenders are people who overuse apostrophes and like#don't know how to write the plural of a word. today I saw someone write horse's to indicate more than one more horse#and I think the darkest depths of my soul finally cracked at the sight shjfgjhgs#this wasn't someone who speaks in broken English either or anything. they know how to speak the whole language just fine#also the other worst thing about my grammar brain is that I could absolutely get a job teaching English based on my knowledge alone#but I don't have an uwu master's degree uwu so getting teaching jobs even as freelance work is basically impossible#the world decides your worth based on how much you were willing to pay an institution for a certificate#and doesn't base you on your actual worth or knowledge so yeah that's great#can't wait until we're in an anime or video game where society's young decides that's bullshit and we're totally over it and rebel sjkfghju#also you know how you see those posts of ppl being like forget what you learned in school? yeah no don't do that with grammar#to an extent it's one thing (the really stupid ''rules'' like don't start a sentence with x word) and some of it was over the top#but there ARE actually legit reasons for some of those grammar rules; it's just that schools fail to teach them properly#I was extremely lucky to have very amazing English teachers for the most part ngl bc most schools don't teach even basic shit well#at least in my country. even in my school the stuff they taught was shit lol I just got very lucky to have great English teachers#but like for instance run on sentences are usually seen as an issue in writing because people lose their understanding of the sentence#if the sentence goes on too long with too many thoughts you'll probably forget what it was even about in the first place#if it's a WRITING style like a book or a fanfic or whatever it can make sense in some cases you just have to be thoughtful abt it!#but rly like I see people who can't even write basic English grammar who can speak it fluently and I'm like#what the fuck are these schools doing??? bc I can tell you what they're NOT doing e.e#this isn't limited to gen z btw I see ppl around my age who do this stuff with grammar too so... yikes#in fact I see people OLDER than my generation doing it too like... my own mom lmao#I'M SORRY I JUST HAD TO GET THIS OUT IT'S BEEN EATING AWAY MY EXISTENCE FOR MANY YEARS

The Forbidden Stacks of the library in TOH puts me in throes. The books inside aren't even preserved if a zombie mouse can have a full-on buffet with them (going slightly off the rails "echo mouse" is a stupid name for something that doesn't absorb sound, I refuse to call it that). What's the point? What other history is lost because you'll let zombie-mice into the section versus employees/volunteers that aren't just gonna float around for the sake of being spooky? Why are they even forbidden when the section is smack-dab in the middle of the library and access-cards are evidently universal, you're just working off an honor system that people won't abuse accessibility? I guess that explains the zombie-mice. Or was it just more important for the writers to have a quick set-up for Lumity no matter how horribly applied the rules are?
The Forbidden Stacks could EASILY be improved if the writers had Amity work the section as a kind of promotion since she already has access, I could see a full burst of character development if her role was to ensure no one gets access to Philip's journal by orders of Belos himself, make her question why the journal itself is forbidden and if blindly following Belos' regime is worth being left in the dark. It would as be GREAT Lumity fuel if both sides had to choose between pleasing the other or preserving their own goals.
Now I've put myself in throes on how quickly all that could be adjusted. A devil's advocate should have been hired for the writing team LMAO.
So the forbidden section of a library in most fantasy media is a pretty common trope. Harry Potter wasn't the first to have something like it and The Owl House won't be the last. But... Well, I actually never gave it that much thought because it very much so does the job of the trope, give characters a place they're not supposed to with clear intentions on forbidden knowledge, but... I think this post very easily explains why the vibe of The Owl House is wrong for a fantasy show. I talked about this in general as of late but let's interrogate your complaints. Not to say your complaints aren't valid but it's the sort of thing that as a content creator is important to do. When someone tells you they'd rather have seen X thing be done in Y way, what are they really asking for? Tears of the Kingdom's fuse mechanic is a great showing of this as it fixed the breakable weapons for a lot of people while still allowing weaponry and the like to be a reward for exploration and combat, something that just removing the system would have lost. Instead, they made it so you can personalize your arsenal and it's MUCH harder to end a fight with simply a worse inventory than when you began (amongst a BILLION other great things about the fuse mechanic).
So what are the complaints here? A lot of them are what most would consider nitpicks. A story is allowed contrivances so as to FUNCTION and that's where suspension of disbelief comes into play. Something about the forbidden section broke your suspension of disbelief though. What was it?
Well, looking at them, my personal conclusion would be simple: It doesn't feel forbidden. It has a huge ass door that dominates one of the libraries walls, it comes across from how it looks to be SEVERAL times larger than the base library seeing as the base library only has like two floors, and yeah, it's not exactly hard to reach. Lumity go in in BROAD DAYLIGHT. There are also no traps, no detection systems, or... Anything to stop someone who has slipped inside from doing as they please, including animals. Like... While Amity is being scolded, is there just NOTHING watching the forbidden knowledge and only a weak magical lock? That doesn't really give the feeling of it being forbidden, does it?
And this isn't a new problem for The Owl House. They'll present a fantasy trope and then so half ass it that it barely feels like the trope. In fact, just tropes in general, hence the common complaint that Lumity is NOT enemies to lovers despite the setup because they spend almost no time being enemies. That's discarded for what is necessary for the plot point of Lumity.
But some people might yell at me about the Shortening, despite this being S2A which probably got minimal changes due to how production works, so could this have been done better without significant time changes?
...Yes. By making them physically act like they're in a place they're not supposed to be. You don't even really have to change the substance of what the two are talking about (which is hardly about the forbidden section). The two spend almost all their time there just laying or standing around. They effectively seem to be just in a library with bad lighting judging by their actions, posture, etc. like that, not helped by the two mostly focusing on each other than anything to do with the library. This de-emphasizes the library and the danger which is VERY common in The Owl House and is part of why it's such a shit adventure show.
Tweak their tones of voice so that they sound more like they're trying not to focus on how they're breaking the rules. Make their conversation travel while Amity points at places on the floor or the wall and both respectively either avoid or seek out those places. You don't even need to really up the animation here except for having them move at all because you don't need to show the magic traps and the like so long as you get the vibe right.
Better yet, this movement could also allow for more environmental storytelling and foreshadowing. They could pass by archived creatures, kept their for study and school project purposes but too dangerous to have just anyone interacting with, and one cage is broken open. Or the lid is slipped off and a sleeping echo mouse is sleeping within it. That way, the mouse didn't just slip in, it probably broke out recently and you just have to suspend disbelief that it chose the journal for its first meal.
This isn't even only doable in animation. You could do this in writing and have their actions and the background be the flavor that's helping punctuate and break up the conversation. In writing though, that WOULD add time and admittedly part of what gives my stuff a more brisk feeling is that unless it's important, I let the background be filled in with a mood and by the reader much more than vivid description. TOH IS animated though so having the backgrounds and the like help with the storytelling, or even just the movements of the characters, is part of how you tell a story in animation.
And yes, animation is expensive. My counterpoint to that is The Ghost and Molly McGee exists and its animation very commonly blows TOH out of the water with how expressive, dynamic, bizarre and HOW MUCH OF IT there is except for TOH's big ticket fights. I cannot believe that they could not do a simple walking sequence with scrolling backgrounds instead of more anime inspired "Okay, stop, freeze, talk, go," moments, especially in order to actually sell the fact that they're in a fantasy story.
There are other, smaller things like making it a smaller, metal door that requires multiple keys to be opened that are kept in the office that Amity normally would need to check out but isn't so that Luz isn't known to go back there. Admittedly, you could also actually make the librarian scary and rude. Make him more serious as to explain why Amity didn't just talk to the librarian because I've talked before about how it trying to be 'clever' (with the same joke its done how many times even by then of "Oh, you're such a fool to think it was actually dangerous or spooky") kind of makes the episode make no sense in retrospect.
And, most importantly, none of these changes would require a lot of time in the episode. Maybe a little more, just to have Amity have a line about a pressure plate or the like, but not much. The real difference is partially the difference between Amphibia and The Owl House because when the sleepover episode happens, the ghosts aren't the only reason that the place feels forbidden. It feels forgotten and creepy and they walk and talk to help show this in the posture the characters, the tones of voice they have, stuff like that. Amphibia enjoys its genre and concepts though while The Owl House CONSTANTLY feels like it would really rather just be a slice of life school series and so doesn't care about the fantasy or adventure elements.
And, well, Looking Glass Ruins is a good episode to highlight that. They murder illusion magic, they make glyphs EXTREMELY OP in it in ways that make no sense and make you wonder why the whole cast isn't adopting them, magical amplification should still ABSOLUTELY affect illusion magic so as to make it bigger or more believable, etc. like that even if it doesn't have a physical effect, etc. like that. But instead, the magic is warped and twisted and simply used for a trope that probably could have been done without the magic.
But like making the forbidden section incredibly boring and mostly just a background more than anything else and an excuse to get Amity in trouble... It all just feels like justification to make the concept they wanted without having to put in the effort.
Without caring. And an audience can feel when a writer doesn't care about something.

What powers or abilities would they all have that Obey Me doesn't address?
What a good and totally unexpected question!
Lucifer:
Lucifer, in a lot of folklore, is actually either one of the multiple angels that presides over music or is the chief angel of music. As such, he might have a sort of supernatural understanding of it, from almost automatically knowing what song someone is humming (and even if he’s never heard it, he just sort of Knows). This is kind of addressed in one of the chats where he knows the song Mammon made up to sing in the shower.
He also probably is exceptionally good at playing music, and can pick up any instrument very quickly.
He’s an exceptional dancer, both because of his supernatural grace and his attunement to music. And the fact that he’s a peacock, lol. Shake that tail, Lulu.
He has an innate sense of what could feed someone’s pride or humiliate them, and is not above using this to his advantage if he really needs to. He’ll praise someone on something they pride themselves in or berate them over something they’re insecure about.
Mammon:
Has an innate sense of an object’s value. He can look at a vase and be like “Yeah, that’s like a million Grimm on the black market, totally worth stealing,” without even thinking about it. He can also tell if there’s anything of value around him, even if he can’t see it directly. Basically sniffing out treasures like a bloodhound.
Has a sense of how materially wealthy someone is, though if this is intuition from years of practice scamming people or if it’s a magical thing, that knowledge is lost to the ages.
Just like the crows and ravens he’s attuned to, Mammon probably remembers faces quite easily and knows if they’ve done something to make him happy or not.
It’s mentioned at the beginning of the game that earning his favor will land you in riches. I suggest that this is mostly a subconscious, area-of-effect reality warp thing that he has. He won’t give money away just cause he likes someone, but we do get to take jobs at Ristorante Six pretty quickly...
Leviathan:
Similar to Lucifer he has an innate sense of what would make a person most jealous and what sort of things they want. However, this isn’t always practical. He’s got money, but some things you just can’t buy. Like a job offer, a relationship with someone’s crush, etc.
I will roast this man for being a snake until the end of time, but his snakey powers are actually pretty cool.
Snakes don’t dislocate their jaws, contrary to popular belief. More accurately, their lower jawbone isn’t one single bone, but two that aren’t fused in the middle like most other animals, simply connected with a small ligament. This gives them a wider range of motion outside of the hinge action most animals have and because of that, they can open their mouths really wide.
Conclusion: Levi can stuff an entire rotisserie chicken in his mouth. He’s not going to, but he could if he wanted to.
He also has venom and fangs, but usually these only come into play when he’s in his demon form and actively attacking someone (which is rare). He’ll tag someone (for those of you who don’t know, tagging is when an animal like a snake bites you but don’t hold on or inject venom) if they give him a reason to, usually by startling him like real snakes. His venom can cause really bad aches and cramps and get a human pretty sick.
Constrictor man? Constrictor man. His hugs can be bone-crushing.
Satan:
He just knows how to piss people off. He can look at a person and figure out how to wind them up, point them in a direction, and watch them explode.
Conversely, he can also soothe people’s anger. Is he going to? Probably not.
I hinted at it in my alt motorboat chapter with him that I think he can sense people’s anger, whether it be simple irritation or full blown murderous rage.
Overall, he can have a very commanding presence. It’s been made pretty clear that like Bruce Banner, he’s always angry in some capacity. Sometimes that energy leaks out.
I think we get a hint of Satan using telekinesis in one of the chapters, which is absolutely wonderful in my opinion.
We also get a hint of him breaking and fixing things magically (the ship in a bottle, specifically) but I don’t know if that’s generic magic or something specific to him.
Asmodeus:
A few friends and I were joking about him having a counter in his head that counts how many people have been... uh. Thinking about him. If you’re picking up what I’m putting down. On a serious note, I think he might have something like that, just less literal.
I also think he can sense people’s preferences. This is my sfw account so I can’t get too in depth about what I mean, but... He knows what people like.
His charm doesn’t work just for physical lust, but other types of lust as well. For an ace person, it might give them a great swell of affection for him. I mean, it works on legit inanimate objects like statues. It’s probably more than just going “👁️👄👁️ You now want to join my in my boudoir,”
Again this is my sfw blog. I’m not getting more into it lol.
Beelzebub:
One of the many, many explanations I’ve seen of him being connected to flies is because food left at altars to him was allowed to rot (”Are you just going to leave that food there? it’s rotting.” “DON’T TOUCH THAT IT’S FOR BEELZEBUB”), attracting flies. Of course, this isn’t the only connection, but it’s one I like a lot.
If this is the case, he might have seen a lot of rotting food in his time, and he might have gained a sort of intuition on the processes involved, how long it would take certain foods to go bad, etc etc.
I know, gross. But useful! No need for expiration dates with Beel around.
Of course, he can fly in his demon form, though basic physics mean that a human-sized animal (especially one as large and presumably heavy as beel) would need some extra strong and durable wings to even attempt flying.
Flies make buzzing noises because of their wings. We’ve seen how big Beel’s wings are. Them fuckers are loud as shit. Like, stand too close to him and your eardrums will burst. They can also produce a lot of wind, even with just a single burst of movement. Tornado man take me by the hand
Can literally eat anything physical, although there can be consequences to this like a tummy ache or heartburn. Plus there’s some shit he just doesn’t wanna eat. Who wants to eat toxic waste?
Belphegor:
I think it would be cool if he had some sort of dream based abilities, like manipulating dreams or viewing people’s dreams. This could be invasive, but so is Asmo’s charm power. I don’t think he uses it too much, though. More work than he’s willing to put in.
Supernaturally comfy nap buddy. I’m dead serious. He’s literally the most comfy person to nap with ever. All the better for tempting unsuspecting exchange students mortals into lazing about with him and ignoring their homework responsibilities.
Potentially he can entice people to sleep or lose interest in something they’re doing, deeming it too much effort. Sloth isn’t just about sleeping, it’s about generally being lazy as fuck.
BONUS
Barbatos
We all know he has time powers. Maybe he has a perfect internal clock/sense of time passing? Who knows.
IDK MAN I’m just. Idk. Why did this take me like 3 days. I actually forgot some of the powers I was planning on adding here, oops.

whoever sent me (6) anons imma answer them in a text post cause it’s about to get long and salty. sorry to everyone else who just let me have my on opinion and didn’t be an ass about it 💕
1. Steve never “dismissed” Bucky’s opinion during CATFA, he was trying to explain why he needed to be in the battle to. Just because he joined the Army anyways doesn’t mean he didn’t care about Bucky’s opinion, but you can’t base your future on what other people think is right for you.
2. Bucky was suffering PTSD, why would he WANT to discuss his torture? In the middle of war during a time where men were heavily discouraged from expressing emotions because they need to be ‘strong’?
3. Bucky NEVER told Steve to leave him alone, he hadn’t seen him in two years. Steve “forcibly dragged him back” because he was triggered by Zemo and thus both a risk to himself and others. Shield didn’t follow him that was Ross’s guys and Steve only went there because he knew Bucky would fight back and there was a shoot on sight order for him.
4. When did Steve ever baby Bucky or tell him to man up? He was being cautious around him in the beginning because he didn’t know if Bucky still remembered him for sure and knew could attack or flee if provoked. He tries to tell Bucky it’s not his fault and looks really sad when Bucky says he isn’t worth it, that’s not insensitivity it’s compassion.
5 was the worst one. Steve NEVER gaslit Bucky. Gaslighting is decieving/lying to make someone question their sanity. He ASKED Bucky if he knew what Zemo wanted, he was desperate for answers. He didn’t withhold from Bucky, robot Zemo showed him a paper for 5 seconds & implied Hydra probably killed the Starks, then fired a missile at him. The letter implies he was in denial. Your idea of toxic is ironic considering you ship Winteriron. Tony has literally never done anything but try to kill Bucky.
P.S. Steve NEVER forced Bucky to fight anybody. Bucky had the option of going home in WWII and Steve asked if he was willing to keep fighting, Bucky said yes. He didn’t ask him to fight in IW either, T’Challa did because he knew they needed everyone who could fight to help. Did we watch the same movies or have you been spending too much time in the Anti-Steve tag?
1) Steve outright ignored Bucky’s opinion because he was willing to DIE being strong headed doesn’t change that he ONLY ran off to war to prove something to Bucky. He didn’t go because he thought it was right, he had NO PLANS to go before Bucky went. He then dismissed Bucky IN Cap 1 when Bucky stated he didn’t think shit was a good idea Steve was like 🤷🏻‍♀️
2. Firstly great generalization there asshole that people with PTSD automatically don’t want too and also check your history facts most people would discuss their situation and a lot of camps had advisors as well as FRIENDS. Among that we’ve SEEN that 40s Bucky would be honest about his emotions with Steve, Steve just fucking blanked him
3) Bucky literally kept legging it from Steve, that’s not an invitation. Then Steve went to stop him from fighting his wait out on a shoot on sight order? Are you telling me that was helpful? Are you telling me that Bucky’s face when Steve went ‘you’ll kill people’ was good? ON TOP OF THAT STEVE STILL HAD NO RIGHT TO DRAG HIM BACK HE HAD NO RIGHT TO TAKE HIM IN Steve kept going and going and chasing him even when Bucky ran and that’s *not fair*
4) Firstly, yep you’re right. It was Ross's men, not SHIELD, it was late and we all make mistakes but an opinion was given and no offer for a debate was made, you sound like a pompous asshole out for a fight. Steve is not a good friend to Bucky, accept it it doesn’t change that he’s a good person who was trying, he just fucked up in this regard
5). Gaslighting is a form of psychological manipulation that seeks to sow seeds of doubt in a targeted individual or in members of a targeted group, making them question their own memory, perception, and sanity.
Steve deliberately chose to omit the murder of Tony's family, Steve deliberately triggered Bucky into remembering the winter program, Steve deliberately controlled what Bucky knew and what he didn't now, whilst he didn't do it with malicious intent that DOESNT change that it would cause serious trust, reality and memory issues in Bucky AND Tony both. He's controlling their knowledge and their truths, with Bucky it creates a false reality in which he doesn't know everything, doesn't trust what he does know and CANT trust steve. MALICIOUS OR NOT ITS DELIBERATE
( see https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mtG-jnpw0X8 )
steve rescues Bucky, not once does he ask "are you okay?" " can you walk?" "what happened?"
NOPE it's all about steve with "i thought you were dead" "come on!"
BUCKY ASKS STEVE WHAT HAPPENED THOUGH, AND IF IT HURT, IF HE'S OKAY BUT STEVE DOESN'T ASK BUCKY
He then takes Bucky right to the sound of gunfire, into the fight, letting go of him to walk and only looking back when Bucky talks to him
AND THEN WE GET BACK FROM THE BASE IN WHICH BUCKY IS INJURED, HAS BEEN TORTURED, IN PAIN, COULD ONLY WALK PROPERLY DUE TO ADRENALINE AND MMM I LOVE ME THIS PART
( see https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QAoD6-CF9Jo )
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QAoD6-CF9Jo
1:29 onwards: steve does state some men need medical attention (thank fucking hell, not bucky tho because he's bucky) but the second Peggy comes in Steve forgets about anyone in a five mile radius and HE DOESN'T EVEN TRY AND SHARE THE GLORY DESPITE THE MEN FIGHTING JUST AS HARD AS HIM SO SURE HE'S SELFLESS DEFINITELY YEAH
( see https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_X1qo2xsH2c )
3:50 onwards- Steve then instantly lies AGAIN in order to keep up the facade and his reality, even though they'd all JUST seen the truth thats when its proven to be deliberate control and manipulation. HE TRIED TO LIE AGAIN DESPITE GETTING CAUGH
steve's in bucky's house to get Bucky but thinks he has the right to go through Bucky's things, to read his books and his notes. I would actually punch someone if they did this???? That's PRIVATE and steves like "lookie here, whats this??"
Steve, every time Bucky talks "you're lying" "you're wrong" "yes you do know" "you're not thinking right" "i know better" EVEN THOUGH HE DOESN'T ACTUALLY KNOW???? HE DOESN'T ACTUALLY HAVE PROOF??
( see https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EK3e8m_xcXw )
Steve then immediately tells Bucky to stop so he doesn't kill anyone, despite having absolutely no qualms with ANY of his other team mates or himself killing because *it goes against his image of bucky*
STEVE DELIBERATELY FORCES BUCKY TO REMEMBER SEVERELY TRAUMATIC EVENTS WHICH MAY BE FALSE IMPLANTS AND WHEN BUCKY CAN'T HIS ANSWER IS *THATS NOT GOOD ENOUGH*
( see https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qbG1iJsDfYg )
also adding to the end of you message, I am very aware how toxic winteriron is but again this is fiction and you can write them better then they’re written in canon and develop relationships about traumatic events, which was the whole point of my original post, that yeah steve’s been a bad friend but you can fix it without taking away everything that he is as a character.
AND my post was in no light anti steve rogers, he is by far one of my favorite characters, hell i even write him, but just because he’s my favorite doesn’t make him any less problematic.
i have more but this is already too long and rambling as it is, reminder that this is MY blog and i’m allowed to post MY opinions and if you dislike them or disagree there’s an unfollow and block button for a reason 💕
