continually weirded out hearing normies talk about/acknowledge lent

#and i don’t mean this in a bad way at all! #but when i was a kid lent was like this weird thing no one had ever heard of #and the secular world seemed shocked anyone still did it #or like it hadn’t occurred to them people still did it #(aside from fish fry’s which was the only cultural benefit) #and protestants had by and large never even heard of it and mostly treated it with hostility #like it was another one of our ‘pagan customs’ #all this to say i would not have heard my hairdresser & her sister talking about valentine’s day also being the start of lent #and how culver’s & red lobster would need to be avoided for date night. #lol.
