i got a bonus + raise and ive only been working like 3 months im soso excited sorry i just wanted to tell someone
AH THAT'S SO EXCITING! im so happy for you bestie <3
#WHEN IS IT MY TURN!#did i tell you guys that there's a waitress at work who not only is younger than me BUT has only been there like 2 months#and me and one of the OG waitresses (she's been there even longer than i have and there's a real solidarity amongst the OG crowd now)#were talking to this waitress and she goes 'oh yeah i get paid £10.18 an hour lol. DONT tell anyone'#and to contextualise this england has minimum wages that differ based on age brackets#where it's like £5 for under 18s. £7.49 for 18-20 (my bracket) and then it jumps to £10.18 when you turn 21#so this 19 YEAR OLD NEW WAITRESS was getting paid the wrong minimum wage bracket that baso saw her earning £3 extra an HOUR#than us. which is an insane amount to build up over a long time like ik it doesn't sound like much but TRUST ME it is#and i felt a bit bad for her bc she's new to waitressing and generally quite naive and it SHOWS#like if they put ME on the wrong pay bracket id take that shit to my grave i would NOT risk that being taken from me#but she was just joking with us clearly expecting a PLATONIC social interaction and not a WORKPLACE interaction#like at the end of the day im friends with the people i work with and i not only like this girl but hold nothing against her#BUT NOT ENOUGH FOR IT TO AFFECT MY LITERAL WAGES!!!! I NEED THAT MONEY!!!!!#so yeah me and the other waitress fully snitched and i kinda hoped management might give us some sort of hush bonus#but all they did was lower the girl to the appropriate wage which. fair and again i feel bad for her but WHAT THE FUCK WAS THAT ABOUT#so yeah thats MY luck with wages anonstie lmao ur thriving in comparison <3#ask

Just a thing I felt like writing on Haru and how she deals with some situations. Some chikan related bc idk. Don’t ask me why. I felt like thinking about it.
Haru Miura is a person who is friendly and enjoys making new friends. It was common to see her walking up to someone, striking a conversation, and then coming back with a new friend to invite over for tea.
You could say she’s very personable that way, but she was also quick to turn the moment someone’s actions don’t align with her moral standards. Quick to judge and even quicker to act. It was a bad habit of hers, she admits, but it’s hard to control when she’s impulsive in general.
The one thing that people who knew her well understood, was the fact that Haru was situationally brave. She was pretty cowardly and she was quick to run, but if she felt she had to protect someone, she could stand her ground. In the face of danger, Haru was usually quick to act- violently, at that.
When alone, it truly depended on whether or not the other person was so ‘weird’ they creeped her out, turning all her fight instinct into flight.
Really, the difference in how she reacts can be summed into:
Was she alone?
Was there someone she felt she had to protect?
Was she dealing with a pervert?
Is this a wild weirdo encounter?
It’s never come down to it yet, but if push ever came to shove, Haru could take someone’s life if Lambo or I-pin were in danger. She’d obviously not want to kill someone, but if it were between becoming a criminal and regretting allowing harm to come to Lambo or I-pin, there was no time for hesitation on her end.
If anyone was bullying Lambo, she’d get in between him and the assailant, and have some choice words to exchange before ushering the cow-child away. It mattered not who she was faced up against, she would stand firm in front of the adored cow-child.
Would she be scared? Of course. Would that stop her from protecting a child? Absolutely not.
Haru was that friend who could flag down a waitress, ‘My friend asked for no pickles, please correct this’ for others, but would simply accept the pickles for herself.
Did she extend her protection only towards those she knew? No, anyone who was in need of help was going to have her attention. Haru Miura was unable to ignore a person in need, especially the weak.
Was she above using whatever means necessary to deal with any problem? Nope~!
-
[scene]
While walking was her preferred way of getting from point A to B, sometimes the final destination was a bit too far for such, so she’d have to resort to a bus or a subway. Listening to music as she reads a book in hand, she was largely ignoring the world around her.
Still, she can notice out of the corner of her eye two women anxiously looking over and whispering among themselves. Pulling out one earbud from her ears, she listens in and realizes that they’re talking about a ‘chikan’ on the bus.
Who had the nerve to harass a girl in broad daylight on a public transport bus? Unfortunately, many chikan had the audacity to do such a thing. Taking pictures up skirts, groping, and many other dastardly acts weren’t uncommon in Japan. Why else did the term ‘chikan’ exist if it weren’t such a pervasive issue women had to face?
Filled with righteous fury, Haru stowed away her items, to fish out her phone. She starts to maneuver through the crowded bus, stopping before the older man that was harassing a poor girl, too frightened and embarrassed to speak or act up against this vile man.
Phone out, she snaps a picture of his face.
While punching or slapping was her preferred method, it was harder to accomplish in a crowded train. Instead, she opts for slamming her foot atop the man’s foot, putting her entire weight into it. Before he could question her about the photo she’d taken, she swiftly slams her foot down.
She’s efficient, you see.
The man kneels down to nurse his foot, and she bends at the knees to be at eye level. “Oi, Ojii-san. I know at least 2 dozen ways to get rid of an old man like you and ensure that no one can ever find you. Don’t you know that all the local Gumi in this area hate cowardly chikan? Luckily for you, I’m in contact with some.” She’d wave her phone in her hand jovially, but the tone in her voice was anything but.
It’s deep and without any of her characteristic bounce. She’s mad. Mad-mad, as they say.
“If you don’t want to get in trouble with any of the local yakuza, I suggest you behave better- fast.”
With that threat issued, she’d stand to address the poor girl, ushering her away from the old man. Her cheerful and bright countenance returns.
“Mou~ I was looking everywhere for you~ Hm? Ohhhh he said that he ate something weird this morning. Let’s go before he starts losing his innards.”
She wouldn’t leave this girl’s side until she was calm. She would assure her that the man was going to suffer for what he’s done. How? Oh—she had her ways, don’t worry.
[end scene]
--
Was she bluffing, you ask? You think the local yazuka would take well to some foreign power making waves in Japan? Perish the thought. Of course the Vongola and the Yakuza came in contact with one another.
Who was Haru if not a person who was well-adept at networking with others to be able to have multiple contacts with all kinds of people? Her contacts didn’t just stop at other mafia-members and Yakuza. She also knew real-estate agents, professors at renown universities, and more.
Sending the man over to the police was an option, but Haru preferred a more thorough approach. Let the man never dare to even think of another school-girl ever again now that he was scum of the earth to those of the underground.
This girl was not one to anger as she had no qualms over using her connections to punish literal trash.
Of course, if the sap had targeted her instead, it would’ve been a swift retribution.
--
[Scene]
“!” Did she just--?
No- surely on this crowded bus, someone’s bag had just bumped into her? Senses on high alert, she waits before she’s absolutely sure what she feels is a hand before she whirls around and slams her elbow into his cranium.
“Did you think we Midori girls are easy targets? Too demure to respond?” You don’t even know the half of it.
You think that being one of Kyoko’s best friends mean that Ryohei wouldn’t have taught her a few things? That Gokudera didn’t have an influence on her?
Was she embarrassed to be making a scene? Yes, but in the face of knowing that she couldn’t have been this man’s first victim, she’s filled with rage.
The local Namahage-enthusiast was angry enough that when she swung with her elbow, she was sure to apply lightning flames to make a harder impact.
This girl doesn’t hold back her punches, so watch out Dr.Shamal. She’s coming for your brand if you mess with her!
“I suggest you wait with me for the police to arrive or I promise you’ll regret it.” Haru had little to no patience with keeping things on the down low when she was the victim and she worried there would be future victims.
[End Scene]
Sometimes, she was too tired to deal with things. If any of the guys were around, sometimes she would just tap out and send them over instead to deal with it.
It was one of those perks of being friends.
Haru did her own fair share of supporting them, so the least they could do is help her on occasion with her ‘worries.’
It usually went down in a similar fashion of Haru being harassed by someone and she spots someone from a distance and she calls their attention by first name.
Rarely ever referring to anyone by first name, it is a quick way to get anyone’s attention. Oh, but Ryohei was ‘Onii-san,’ mind you. He reacted to that faster than he did ‘Ryohei’.
Out of everyone, he was the most reliable. You may not even get to ‘san’ before he rushes over and deals with the situation for her.
There have been times she’d rush over and motion with a head jerk towards the perp. If they don’t deal with it, she will, and it won’t be pretty.
You know, as a Yamato Nadeshiko in training, it was better if she had someone else deal with the situation for her, and she knew her friends wouldn’t mind helping her get rid of any creeps harassing her. Some being more than glad to rid the streets of a few weirdos.
Still, there were times where she wanted to deal with the situation herself.
One time, she’d led a group into an alleyway and zapped them all with her lightning flames.
Did she get scolded for such a showy thing? No comment.
Would she do it again? She has the right to remain silent.
“Oh- there it is.” She saw the sign posted outside the building that informed the public that a restaurant was reserved for an important meeting with the Shirayuri-gumi. Today, they had a meeting with the Vongola on something, and she was arriving separate from the rest as she had an errand to run right before the meeting.
“Hey cutie, where are you headed?”
Ah, it should be a crime to be so cute. What a sinner, she was.
Noting the time on her phone, she didn’t have the time nor patience to have this be prolonged. “You can’t handle someone like me. Leave.”
“Ohhh~ Feisty, I like that. Don’t worry about that none, I can handle anything you can dish out.”
Haru gives the man a dubious look.
This guy was really trying to bite off more than he could chew. No matter how she looked at him, he was a regular civilian. There was no way he could stand tall and proud like a peacock when face to face with either the Yakuza or the Mafia.
“For your sake, I suggest you leave before it’s too late.”
“Ooooo how scary, look at the kitten hissing.”
If there was one thing she hated being called, it was kitten, because it reminded her of a certain pervy doctor.
About to say something, someone interrupts her.
“Haru-san? Are you by yourself? Who is this?” A woman dressed in a dark blue with white lily accents Kimono approaches her. By her side was a tiny child, who Haru knew to be Akihiko, the son and future head of the Shirayuri-gumi.
One could say she was a fitting image of a traditional Yamato Nadeshiko if not for the piercing cold gaze she had, fit for an Anee-san of the Yakuza. Being the wise of the Kumicho was no laughing matter, she held a high position within the gumi when respect was concerned.
By her side was the heir, the next in line for Kumicho. In essence, a ‘waka-dana’.
Being great with kids, Haru got along well with the child, and so she sometimes attended the meetings to help attend to the child.
“Oh, Shirayumi-gumi no Anee-san, you’re here with waka-dana.” She waves at the little boy, who shyly waves back. “I’m arriving separately from the others today. This person… ” Was a pest?
Was a person who was trying to bite off more than he could chew?
An idiot who is about to faint from fright over realizing that the woman he was trying to pick up had ties with the Yakuza?
How to answer her question?
“Is this guy bothering you, Haru?” An irritated voice asks.
Ah, the Vongola 10th generation have arrived and they’d noticed that Haru was with company. They recognized 2 out of the 3 people with Haru.
“Hahi? Oh~ It’s no problem at all, this man was just lost and confused, ne?” Be grateful that she was giving you an out.
The man quickly runs away like a dog with his tail permanently attached between his legs.
“Now, let’s go, shall we? Akihiko-san has grown so much since the last i’ve seen him. Before we know it, he’ll grow up to be a great waka for the Shirayumi-gumi.” Haru strikes a conversation with the Anee-san of the Gumi, effortlessly allowing the child to take hold of her hand without question.

alex turner. 27. cismale. he/him. the black keys | i can’t believe i just saw RICKY CLARK walking out of cadence records. they’re the VOCALIST / BASSIST from the PUNK group HEATSTROKE who have been in the industry for THREE YEARS. the tabloids love to focus on their COLDHEARTED nature , but they’re also pretty CHARISMATIC and they seem to give off a vibe that reminds people of FRIENDS HOLDING YOU BACK FROM BAR FIGHTS, CUNNING SMIRKS, CRYING FROM RAGE WHEN YOU’RE ALONE.
hello !!! i’m jess, i’m 22, reside in the bst timezone and use she/they pronouns !! i literally only found this rp like two hours before it opened for plotting so excuse me if this intro seems a bit rushed, and i apologize for how late it is. this is the first of my muses, king asshole ricky clark. he’s a damaged angsty boi and i hate / love him. please like this if you’d like to plot, or slide into my IMs!
p.s. we can also plot on discord @ aries baby#7087 and you can check out a pinterest board for ricky here!
trigger warnings: heart disease, loss of a parent, ‘daddy issues’, abandonment, drugs & alcohol mentions, violence implication
BACKGROUND
ricky was born to dirt-poor parents in upstate new york. they had pretty much nothing but the basic necessities but it was v much a “they had each other and that was enough” kinda thing
his mother was his hero, ricky idolized her as she would do anything for him & was a kind, honest woman with a good heart who put every penny she earned into trying to give ricky a good life.
but his dad? quite the opposite. he was a distant, aggressive man with violent tendencies. whenever he was home, he was causing conflict. but most of the time, he wasn’t. it was pretty obvious that he was cheating on ricky’s mom, as well as just generally giving zero shits about his son. he was just an all-around asshole.
his mom was a waitress. she worked very few shifts as she wanted to make sure she could spend a lot of time around her son making sure he had a good upbringing.
when ricky was eleven, she suddenly fell ill with heart disease and her condition deteriorated very quickly. she could no longer work and decided to turn to music as a way of coping, learning to play guitar to keep her spirits up. ricky always took an interest in this and loved listening to her play him his favorite songs in the final years of her life
she ended up passing away before she could see ricky enter his teenage years. in their shared grief he and his father bonded and had a better relationship for a short period, before long he was back to his old tricks again never coming home & ricky had to basically raise himself for a little while, before finally he ended up in the foster care system for the remainder of his teen years
this is where he taught himself how to play the bass guitar his mom had left behind for him, as well as singing and songwriting.  he quickly realized why she found such escapism in music.
he was a bit of a ‘bad boy’ archetype at school, who was constantly getting into fights etc but would show a softer side to the other outcast kids, especially the other musicians
foster care is also where he manifested a lot of resentment, anger & hostility after everything he had gone through. he kinda felt like life had dealt him such a shitty hand, and he had so many abandonment issues due to his father’s ways. he struggled to bond with any of his foster families and basically hopped around homes for years, still mourning his mom & acting out as a coping mechanism
so pretty much the second he turned eighteen and could leave foster care he got the hell out of town and headed downstate to new york city with pretty much nothing to his name, telling himself he was off to pursuit a career as a solo musician. he wandered around a bit, going about his life as somewhat of a vagabond living out of cheap motels whilst he struggled to settle.
after a few years spent working shitty 9-5 jobs and almost ending up homeless multiple times, he figured it was time to admit defeat and head back home, as his dreams of becoming a musician hadn’t really took off. he returned to his hometown & found that an old classmate from high school had been advertising around town, for a bassist for his band. it seemed like the perfect opportunity, and ricky jumped on board.
before he could even process it, the band were moving to LA to chase their dreams of making it big. after performing in bars & underground venues, they landed themselves a record deal with cadence
ricky LOVES the fame. he’s finally getting the love, adoration & attention he lacked in his life after his mom died. he’s living the rockstar lifestyle, having fun, and doing whatever he can to feel fulfilled and numb the pain and lasting scars left by his past — which by the way, he’d rather die than open up about.
PERSONALITY
so as is mentioned, the whole thing with his past has made him grow extremely resentful as a person and he has a lot of pent up issues that he bottles up. this makes him extremely stand-offish, short fused, arrogant etc? but the better someone gets to know him the more they’ll see a softer side to him. he’s a complex, multi-dimensional and very guarded person
he’s FIERCELY loyal and will protect his friends at all costs ( yes surprisingly he does have friends ) he’s prepared to fight someone if they’ve done something to hurt his friends
hes a really social guy despite the fact he can be quite intimidating. if you’re not on his bad side he’ll be completely fine with you, like? the main thing that’d get someone onto his bad side would be if they just assumed he was an asshole based on his initial demeanor, without getting to know him
Closed Off Emotionally™ - he basically put up a huge wall so that nobody can see how much the abandonment from his past has got to him but there’s definitely a kinder, damaged boy beneath who just needs time tbh
he lives his life pretty carelessly bc he kinda cant resist the whole idea of a rockstar lifestyle. very reckless i know but can you blame him? the issues of his past are still very much there so he tries to numb the pain in any way he can by drinking and taking drugs tbh, which he knows is unhealthy & he’s trying to stop
actually pretty funny when he wants to be
really competitive
a bicon
when given reason, he can care so deeply about people. it’s so hard for them to see it because of the way he is, but a dead give-away is that if he really cares about someone he will never lie to them. ever
he’s basically just very intense if you couldnt tell already

wanted / suggested connections
i’m also open to brainstorming something from scratch if none of these fit your muse! hmu!
EX ON GOOD TERMS — the breakup wasn’t anything too dramatic, so there was no hard feelings. ricky might tease your muse on occasion about the pair’s past relationship, but in all seriousness, things are fairly chill between these two.
EX ON BAD TERMS — your muse would call him a heartbreaker. he’d probably agree. ricky broke up with your muse abruptly upon suddenly losing interest, and they didn’t take it lightly.
FRENEMY — nobody can keep up with your muse & ricky. they pretend to get along, mostly to grind each other’s gears. hanging out one minute, and getting into bar fights at the next.
RIVAL / ENEMY — your muse hates ricky. they can’t stand how mean and arrogant he seems, and they would never attempt to get to know anything beyond the surface. they’re sworn enemies and everybody knows it.
GOOD INFLUENCE — your muse can read people easily. that’s how they know that ricky’s hiding some good qualities beneath his tough demeanor. they’re determined to help ricky to make some better decisions, especially when his bad ones are proving detrimental to his mental state.
SOMEONE HE’S A BAD INFLUENCE ON — they’re very different in personalities, but ricky still managed to take a liking to your muse for whatever reason. it’s a shame they fall victim to his bad influence.
DRINKING BUDDY — your muse and ricky are constantly partying together. they have fun, but your muse is starting to see that ricky often takes things too far and gets way too beyond his limits.
PAST HOOK-UP / PAST FWB — it’s no secret that ricky has gotten around a lot in the past. your muse has experienced that first hand, and he’s gotten them into a lot of controversial headlines, that’s for sure.

Chapter Eleven: Magnus Bane
Okay, kiddos. Let’s go.
Jace and Clary leave the Brotherhood HQ, and Jace calls the cab driver a “brain-dead moron”. You know what, here’s the full quote:
Jace leaned forward and banged his hand against the partition separating them from the cab driver. “Turn left! Left! I said to take Broadway, you brain-dead moron!”
Oh, man, I’m so hot for Jace you guys. He’s so evil and cruel. I’m fanning myself. And the reason he wants to take Broadway? He wants breakfast. That’s it. It’s not a life-or-death situation. He wants fucking breakfast.
I like the idea of the diner they go to. A place where magical ppl can get together for some spaghetti. I don’t know if I’ve mentioned this, but I LOVE the idea of a secret (or not-so-secret) magical Manhattan. It’s just so unfortunate that Clare’s is so bad.
Clarinet asks Jack-Jack about Magnus Bane. Jack-Jack explains that he’s a warlock. Alec shows up. Clare is the foreshadowing master.
Clary freaks out about a guy in front of the store who looks like a demon. Clary. Girl. Come on. You know about this stuff already. It’s been like two days. Calm down. Apparently he’s a bouncer (for a diner) and is the warlock equivalent of a squib.
Honesty, I love this diner. They have blood on tap!!!! That’s so cool!!!!!! Plus, the people eating there sound way more interesting than our MCs.
[A] boy with spiky blue dreads was sitting next to a beautiful Indian girl with long black hair and gauzelike golden wings sprouting from her back.
Gotta love how the only people of color are basically set-dressing, though. At least Simon is Jewish, even with the messed up antisemitic crosses-burned-into-him dream thing. Clare’s Jewish, though, so of course she represents only herself and leaves everyone else out in the cold.
Alec shows up:
There was a kinetic, almost feverish energy to [Alec] that hadn’t been there before. Something about Jace sharpened him, brought him into focus. If she were going to draw them together, she thought, she would make Jace a little blurry, while Alec stood out, all sharp, clear planes and angles.
Oh, here it is. The “poor gay boy only comes to life in front of hopelessly straight crush” trope. Bc Alec has nothing better to do than obsess over Jace, a boy who is currently being rude to the waitress. Does Clare honestly not know how annoying rude boys are?
Isabelle and Simon show up. Apparently, even Isabelle’s perfume is evil:
Isabelle’s hair tickled [Clary’s] face, smelling of some kind of vanilla perfume. Clary fought the urge to sneeze. She hated vanilla perfume. She’d never understood why some girls felt the need to smell like dessert.
Haven’t I mentioned? Clary is the best girl to ever girl. Isabelle can’t even order right. Instead of getting something reasonable, like a large order of coconut pancakes (gross, Clary), “Isabelle fastidiously order[s] a fruit smoothie”.
Jace goes off to flirt with the waitress. Clary is confused bc the waitress is a Downworlder and aren’t they, like, totally evil? Isabelle and Alec assure her that the only kill the bad Downworlders. The rest they let live.
“Like letting spiders live because they eat mosquitoes, Clary thought.” Uh, not really. The Downworlders aren’t spiders. They’re just people, living their lives.
“So they’re good enough to let live, good enough to let live, good enough to make your food for you, good enough to flirt with—but not really good enough? I mean, not as good as people.” Isabelle and Alec looked at her as if she were speaking Urdu. “Different from people,” said Alec finally.
This doesn’t really seem like such a difficult question? Isabelle and Alec are just trying to cover up their bullshit.
“Better than mundanes?” said Simon. “No,” Isabelle said decidedly. “You could turn a mundane into a Shadowhunter. But you could never turn a Downworlder into one of the Clave. They can’t withstand the runes.”
So Shadowhunters judge others based on their ability to become Shadowhunters? Seems not at all racist. I’m so glad we had this chat. Jace comes back and explains that there’s just a shit-ton of hostility between Shadowhunters and Downworlders, so it’s not really racism.
Miracle of miracles, Isabelle reveals that Magnus Bane has invited the magical community of New York to his house for a party. God, I love parties.
There’s a whole day before the party, so Simon and Isabelle decide to go for a walk in Central Park. For some reason, this makes Clary feel a “murderous rage”. These emotions are seriously not healthy.
Back at the Institute, Clary goes exploring in the library and finds a photo of her mom and other Order of the Pheonix members-cum-Deatheaters Shadowhunters. Evil Giles shows up and points out Valentine, Luke, the Lightwoods, Jace’s mom, and himself in the picture. Clary mentions that Jace doesn’t look anything like his father. What could this possibly mean?
Honestly, the concept of a book about the children of villains isn’t terrible. It really just the complete ripping-off of Harry Potter that annoys me.
Oh, God. Clary gets back to her room (armed with a sleeping potion from Hodge) to see Jace looking at her sketchbook. I’m not even good at drawing, and my sketchbooks are still deeply personal. You can’t just look in someone’s sketchbook! It’s like a diary! WTF, Jace!
In fact, Clary tells Jace that it’s  basically a diary and that he shouldn’t look at it. This should be obvious.
Wait, I’m laughing:
“You could try not being charming all the time,” Clary said. “It might be a relief for everyone.”
BITCH, WHERE???
Tumblr media
Jace offers to tell Clary a bedtime story. It’s the famous falcon story, the one that Clare used in her Harry Potter fanfiction. You know, where Jace’s father gives him a falcon to train, and when Jace loves it, his father kills it. Proof that Jace is Draco.
Somehow, Clary makes the connection that this story is about Jace only as she falls asleep. Whatever.
Isabelle wakes up Clary. Again, a famous moment:
[Isabelle] looked like a moon goddess. Clary hated her.
Bitch, Isabelle is a moon goddess, and I love her.
Yes, we have a makeover scene!! My secret weakness. I’m sorry, fellow patriarchy fighters. Makeover scenes are just so good.
Isabelle continues to be the coolest person in this book:
Her room looked as if a disco ball had exploded inside it. The walls were black and shimmered with swirls of sponged-on golden paint. Clothes were strewn everywhere: on chairs, spilling out of the closet and the tall wardrobe propped against one wall. Her vanity table, its mirror rimmed with spangled pink fur, was covered in glitter, sequins, and pots of blush and powder.
I want this room!
Clary gets a slinky black dress, fishnets, and boots. I want this outfit, too. When Isabelle does Clary’s makeup, Clary asks if Alec is gay. For some reason, this causes an intense shock in Isabelle:
Isabelle’s wrist jerked. The eyeliner skidded, inking a long line of black from the corner of Clary’s eye to her hairline. “Oh, hell,” Isabelle said, putting the pen down. “It’s all right,” Clary began, putting her hand up to her eye. “No, it isn’t.” Isabelle sounded near tears as she scrabbled around among the piles of junk on top of the vanity . . . She sat down on the edge of the bed, ankle bracelets jingling, and looked at Clary through her hair. “How did you guess?” she said finally. “I—” “You absolutely can’t tell anyone,” said Isabelle. “Not even  Jace?” “Especially not Jace!” “All right.” Clary heard the stiffness in her own voice. “I guess I didn’t realize it was such a  big deal.” “It would be to my parents,” said Isabelle quietly. “They would disown him and throw him out of the Clave—” “What, you can’t be gay and a Shadowhunter?” “There’s no official rule about it, But people don’t like it. I mean, less with people our age—I think,” she added, uncertainly, and Clary remembered how few other people her age Isabelle had ever really met. “But the older generation, no. If it happens, you don’t talk about it.”
Okay. So. I’m trying to judge this for when it was written. But, like. Is the homophobia necessary? It’s kind of like the ridiculous sexism in ACOTA/R. It’s a choice the author is making, for, like, no good reason. This is a case of a straight author needlessly torturing her gay character. But since this was published in 2007, I feel like this has been talked out, so let’s move on.
IT TURNS OUT THAT ISABELLE’S ANKLETS ARE WEAPONS. I LOVE HER. WE ARE GETTING MARRIED. WEDDING INVITATIONS TO FOLLOW.
Ugh, Simon short-circuits bc Clary is wearing a short skirt. Please calm down, sweetie. You’re embarrassing me. Wait, what is even going on here? Jace gives Clary a dagger, and, uh, this happens:
“I could give you a thigh sheath to put that in,” Isabelle offered. “I’ve got tons.” “ABSOLUTELY NOT,” said Simon.
I’m actually laughing. Lol for real. What does this even mean? Is a thigh sheath too sexy or something? Simon, can you chill for .2 seconds? This isn’t your body. Let’s all take deep breaths.
Clary puts the dagger in the outside pocket of her backpack because there’s no way having to unzip a backpack to get to the dagger could bit her in the ass during a fight. Then Jace reaches over and undoes her hair bc, uh, shipping moment.
I’m so grossed out by the fact that in a short while, they will think they’re siblings.

ALYCIA DEBNAM CAREY - CIS FEMALE, 23 — HAVE YOU MET IMOGEN LOCKE YET? WORD IS THAT SHE'S BENEVOLENT & UPBEAT, THOUGH IF YOU CATCH HER ON THE WRONG DAY, SHE CAN ALSO BE DIM-WITTED & RELIANT. I HEARD THAT SHE IS A WAITRESS, BUT DON’T TAKE IT FROM ME. WHEN SHE WAS MOVING IN, I THOUGHT I HEARD SOMETIMES BY BRITNEY SPEARS PLAYING FROM HER APARTMENT. PRETTY APPROPRIATE, RIGHT?
hey hi hello i’m eleanor and under the cut is a little more info on imogen !!
i have a stats page for her here (x) and i’m working on her bio but i’ll give you a basic overview in the meantime
backstory
she grew up in a very wealthy neighbourhood in las vegas. her parents are typical snobbish rich folk but their attitude didn’t rub off on imogen. her dad is a well known plastic surgeon and her mother a court judge.
imogen was always a good girl in high school, she studied hard & didn’t ever party - mostly bc she was following her parents rules
her parents were very pushy with her from an early age, starting her piano lessons, languages and school tutoring at only age 4 (which honestly she needed bc shes not the brightest spark)
for senior year they got her a new tutor which unintentionally led to imogen meeting her husband. her tutor’s son took an instant shining to her and pestered imogen to go on a date with him and when she finally agreed it only took a few weeks for her to fall head over heels for him. he was older than her by 2 years and a college dropout, wanting to focus on his career goal of being a musician. her parents hated him and tried to stop them dating but imogen rebelled for once in her life and ended up eventually dropping out of HS to go live with him after only a few months together
by the age of 19 imogen had eloped with tyler and they were happily married despite living in a dingy apartment and only having tyler’s gas station job and the little money he earned from gigs to support them
their marriage was plain sailing for a few years, imogen got a bit lonely being hauled up in their apartment all day waiting for tyler or one of his bandmates who also lived with them to return home from work but she was in love and she thought that was all she needed to be happy
things took a very dark turn however when tyler’s bands regular spot at the bar across the street was cancelled and after struggling to find another venue, tyler turned to drink to drown his sorrows. his new addition brought out an aggressive side to him imogen had never seen before and sadly she began witnessing a lot more of his violence as time went on. he kicked his band mates out & grew increasingly controlling when it came to imogen - him being the reason imogen didnt work bc he preferred her to stay at home & him being the reason she didnt have any friends.
6 months ago, after a particularly bad fight imogen had somehow managed to pluck up the courage to leave him. she waited for him to fall asleep one night before grabbing whatever clothing she could and driving as far as her gas tank would take her
after sleeping rough in her car for around a week, imogen decided she needed help and chose to call her parents. clearly still angry with her, the couple told their daughter they wanted nothing to do with her and payed her a lump sum of money to never contact them again. she felt bad taking it but she was desperate and so she set off in her car again and that’s how she ended up in san francisco
current situation & personality
imogen has lived in alton heights for just under 5 months and works as a waitress in a cafe just around the corner. she’s still technically married but she doesnt bring up her husband ever
she’s a terrible waitress due to how clumsy she is but they don’t say much about it since the regular customers love her so much
she’s a very friendly person, it only takes a few minutes with someone for her to declare them her new best friend. she’s THAT type
she’s very ditsy but also very curious, she loves learning new things & is constantly asking questions
she’s not very good at being on her own having been so dependant on others for a long time so she leans on people v easily.
i probably have more to say but u get the general idea so feel free to message me if you’d like to plot!!
