The amount that I love Asuke is overwhelming. He's just trying so hard and he'd spent so long thinking he was in a relationship with Shuu and now he knows that was never true but that doesn't make the feelings go away and he's always handled his life with humor so what is he supposed to do with these bigger problems, with these more serious problems?

And, this boy. He still cares so much and so deeply and Shuu is just not giving himself, not giving him the same respect he keeps seeing around him with Shin and Minato and instead he's trapped in this place where he feels unseen and invisible and misunderstood with no way out.

He fell in love with Shuu in a relationship he didn't know was fake and so the Shuu he loved wasn't the real Shuu at all but someone pretending for their own safety but he still likes him, he still cares for him, he cared for him long before they started to pretend to date and then he only fell harder when he followed him into the world to see new sights.

Asuka has been in long with Shuu for a long time, a different kind of love than Shin has for Minato, a love that started when he was older but also traveled the world at his side and it aches in a different way when he talks about all the things he loves about Shuu because he knows how much he cares about Shuu because he truly though they were dating.

And it really contrasts even more with how both Sakuma and Minato approach the ones who had crushes on them, the respect and kindness they show to the boys who cared about them that Shuu never gives Asuka because he doesn't see him, doesn't see anyone the same way others do.

Shuu is never unkind but nor is he kind. He is not cruel but that is only because he doesn't communicate anything at all. He shows no real respect for Asuka's feelings. He's living in his own version of the world and the hardest part is that... that's Asuka loves him.
