Random thoughts on Vice Versa ep 8

I wonder why it's so important for them to have the film made this year... I guess it's because they're scared they will either travel back to their own universe before they get to make it, or that one of them might die...?

I couldn't believe Talay was selling off those clothes so cheap - those amounts are not going to get a film made. He'll need to sell 50-100,000 items to get the kind of money they need. Thank goodness Tun/Puen stopped him...but also, how did Talay not question or realise it was him?!

I loved every appearance of Fuse this ep. As soon as I knew he was going to appear, I squealed to myself "Oh my god what's Fuse's shirt going to say?!" like a fricking child on their birthday.

I laughed out loud at 'Headbook'. I love anytime they do something slightly off kilter in the alternative universe. I was slightly disappointed then that Mek went in for a high five - couldn't they have done something slightly different like with the finger-counting?!

OMG I yelled at the screen when I saw Ae Perth. He's a fantastic actor and I can't wait to see him in his own series again. I also loved the plane-café location. I love the fact that it might have been used in the Y-Destiny eps with the other Perth actor and the actor Talay (and Yoon of course). I wonder if they chose it for that reason...

I don't even know where to start with the cats, the lions behind Mek with those plush red seats, and the Tay Tawan scenes. Madness. but poor kitties. Oh I need to gush about how FANTASTIC it is that kitten in Thai is 'nong meow'...(or something like that)!!!

AND I LOVE THAT MEK MEANS CLOUD! Thai nicknames ftw! Just all this word play is so great, and that it utilises both english and thai languages 👏🏼

Have you noticed that Puen keeps saying Talay's name after he says something to him...almost like an emphasis. I don't notice Talay doing it back so much if at all (he'll say Tun in a sentence or as a 'wtf?!'). So I wonder if, once Talay knows Puen's name, he will do the same pointedly - as a thing, as an acknowledgement that Puen kept doing it and now Talay can do it because he knows Puen's name… Well, I hope so...

Oh my god, they're so cute during the mirroring…I feel like I'm watching Jimmy and Sea sometimes. And someone said it reminded them of Pat and Pran's Oishi tea improvised dance...and yes, yes it does (because everything reminds me of bad buddy).

I can't believe I wrote this note after the mirroring: "I do feel tired at seeing Talay pull away from Puen though. I know there are reasons why but my god a kiss wouldn't hurt would it? Or at least to not pull away as though he's put off by the idea of kissing Puen. smh" and then the show went and GAVE ME THE KISS I SO DEMANDED NEEDED!

Ah, it was a fantastic ep.

(I didn't clock at first that the glitching was deliberate...but maybe that's because I'm so used to bad quality wifi where I'm staying that I thought it was either the streaming...or even on the video itself [sorry, gmmtv but your quality isn't top notch - sound issues, for example]...and I can see now that it's glitching because of the whole 'they've found their portkeys!' or even just 'they've fallen in love!'...but I think they could have done it a bit less subtle so that there wouldn't be so many of us going, "wait, what? that wasn't my shitty computer?!")

have you ever thought of parallel in vice versa which is that talay was the one wanted to return in their universe the most but he was the one who said 'i miss our time together. can we go back to that universe?' or are you normal. and have you ever thought about that day they went to a cafe for dinner (when talay was hired again at his dream company) and he expected a FUCKING ENGAGEMENT RING from puen? can we talk about how much he really loves puen even though they've known each other for like two and a half years?

anon i need you to know that for the past 24 hours i've been trying so hard to reply to your message with something vaguely coherent but my brain seems to completely shut down in front of the sheer immensity of talay's feelings for puen. LIKE!!!!!! he was willing to dive into the ocean if it meant being able to go back to puen!!!!! when just two episodes before that we see him almost having a panic attack while standing in shallow water because that's how he died!!!!! talay DROWNED and yet he was ready to face that again because his love for puen was bigger than his fear!!!!!

and i remember that some people used to say that it was out of character for talay to say he wanted to go back to the alternate universe BUT IT'S NOT!!!!!! like yes, talay missed his life and his family and his friends and his dream job, and knew that they couldn't just steal tess and tun's lives. talay also always does the right thing and puts the feelings of the people he cares about in front of his own, even if it means he's gonna be miserable. however that doesn't mean that deep in his heart he doesn't want to be selfish sometimes: he won't ever act on those selfish feelings, and the proof of it is that he was willing to be miserable for the rest of his life because he didn't want puen to give up on his career for him, but TALAY LOVES HIM!!!!!! SO MUCH!!!!!! AND HE MISSED BEING WITH PUEN IN A MUCH SIMPLER WAY!!!!!! so it's normal that for a moment he wanted to go back!!!!!

and it's so telling that the other time talay says he misses the alternate universe is in the lay's special in episode 12 right after they talk about same sex marriage being legalized in that other thailand!!!!! BECAUSE HERE'S THE THING THAT MAKES ME WANT TO SKYDIVE INTO THE HIMALAYAS WITHOUT PARACHUTE THE MOST: TALAY WANTS TO MARRY PUEN SO BADLY!!!!!!!! usually im so embarrassed at how obvious puen is but this is the one time im actually embarrassed for talay. HE THOUGHT PUEN WAS GONNA GIVE HIM A RING!!!!!! HE GENUINELY WANTED PUEN TO PROPOSE TO HIM AND LOOKED A BIT DISAPPOINTED WHEN THAT WASN'T IT!!!!!! AND IN THE LAY'S SPECIAL HE GETS SO SAD WHEN IT LOOKS LIKE PUEN ISN'T TAKING THE MATTER SERIOUSLY!!!!!!

talay went from being annoyed at the married couple holding up traffic in episode 1 to desperately wanting to marry puen in episode 12. from not believing in love to loving someone so much he wants to spend the rest of his life with them. AND I ABSOLUTELY WILL NEVER BE NORMAL ABOUT IT.

We were robbed of a Tess/Tun B-couple storyline

Ya’ll have no idea how badly I wanted Tess and Tun in the OG-universe to be the B-couple plot. It would have been so funny!!! Constantly cutting back and forth between the universes was a potential gold mine of comedy as both couples uncover more about each other’s lives and subsequently fuck them up!

Tun to Tess in the OG-universe: Stay away from me. I hate you no matter what universe we’re in.

Hard-cut to Anna talking to Talay in the Alt-Universe: Tun’s in love with you, Tess.

And like, how CUTE would their story have been!?

Ex-best friends, finding each other in an alternate universe— Tess relieved to find someone he knows while Tun is cursing every God known to man because OF COURSE out of everyone he could have run into in an alternate reality, it just had to be the guy he’s been avoiding like the plague back home! Tun tries to push Tess away again but Tess keeps pursuing him because he’s got literally no one else to turn to. Both of them coming to a truce because they’re both trapped in an unfamiliar world and have no one else to rely on, but Tun promises that it’s only temporary and that he’ll go back to hating Tess once they find a way back to their universe.

Tess the spoiled rich-kid being thrown into the deep end of working like a regular person and utterly failing, so Tun has to begrudgingly help him through it. Tun trying to be an actor and Tess giving actual good advice from his experience in the film industry. Tess growing into a better, more responsible person through living Talay’s life and maybe even apologizing for ruining their friendship in the first place, making Tun question whether he’s actually capable of changing for the better. Tess and Tun slowly mending their friendship while being stuck together. 

Tun trying very hard to maintain his distance from Tess because he’s scared of his feelings, but still being disastrously in love with him makes him want to get closer to him despite his fears. Tess realizing just how much he missed Tun after their friendship ended and growing hesitant to return to their world because he doesn’t want to lose him again and uh-oh, he’s falling in love with him!

Tess being caught between his old selfish ways and his new character growth, not wanting to go home and give up their mended relationship but not wanting to force Tun to stay with him because he’s already hurt Tun before by acting selfishly. Tess willing to go back home and let Tun go back to hating him, but not without telling him that he’s going to miss him once they’re home. Tun finally breaking down and confessing it was never Anna he loved, it was always Tess.

The angst of only one of them going home. Tun finally having confessed and had his love returned by his ex-best friend, the person he thought would never love him back romantically, only to be separated from him. Tess having been so scared of losing Tun again only for that to be exactly what happens but worse, because now Tun is an entire reality away from him, and he becomes utterly devastated.

The relief upon being reunited in their universe, their home, and finally getting to be together as themselves. The pleasantly surprising convenience of everyone in their world already believing their together because of Puen and Talay.

Combined with Puentalay, we could have had TWICE the yearning! TWICE the angst! TWICE the resolution! We could have had it all!!!  T_T
