most days, juhee would say that she’s an adequate and thoughtful early riser. that is if most days didn’t end with the day before being drilled over and over about their ‘ high heels ’ choreography until her feet practically bled in said heels. however, today, unsurprisingly, wouldn’t be like most days. today is the first day of their comeback and while juhee wakes with anticipation. she also wakes with a slight groan in her throat as she relieves herself of her covers and walks to the bathroom, not realizing she has nearly toppled over someone else in the process.

she’s ignoring the ache she feels prick at her feet as she rubs at her eyes, bowing her head sleepily to the person she had nearly fallen over in her tired waltz towards their shared bathroom. “morning, unnie.” she says, her eyes falling over themselves as she tries to blink herself away. unlike most mornings, juhee would spend the first few scrolling through her phone to wake her up but today -- she needed cold water to wake her up. today was much too important of a day to be spent lazing in bed. 

once she gets the most of the stardust from her eyes through the incessant rubbing she does with her fists, she glances back to the older girl. “did you get any sleep?” she asks, wondering if seulgi had fallen into her bed much like juhee had -- almost like a dead log in the middle of a forgotten trek of woods, silently and quickly. timber! she could have sworn meiqi had said as she slept like the very dead juhee had felt the night prior.

★ DARAE AND MEIQI KTL CHOREOGRAPHY

the video starts with darae and meiqi in one of the nova dance studios. the time on the clock reads 9:47 although there’s no distinction to tell if it’s morning or night. meiqi and darae are running through a section of the song which seems to go well but darae pauses, shaking her head. the caption “i messed up” comes on the screen. they run through it again.

this time, it seems that meiqi was a beat ahead darae and they both pause. darae turns to her, held tilted. the audio finally comes in as darae asks meiqi “wait what’s the count?” with a question mark animation appearing above her head and an exclamation point animation appearing up meiqi’s. meiqi calmly says, “i thought the tempo was five-and-six seven eight.” darae chuckles, covering her face. “i thought it was five six seven and eight!” a caption appears on the screen “dancers communicating with their own language....” as they continue to talk about counts, figuring out where they were out of sync.

with a shift in the scene, meiqi and darae are both standing in front of the mirror. to anyone else, it looks like they’re just waving their arms stiffly. to anyone familiar, they’d be able to recognise this style of dance called waacking. darae moves behind meiqi to guide her into the movements. she’s talking as she does although there is a gentle music over as they go over moves. darae claps her hands and motions for her to go. a caption appears saying, “meiqi begin!”

meiqi begins with a count right before the waacking in the choreography. when she brings her hands back, she brings it too far -- farther than we’ve seen darae guide her hand not a moment before. she smacks darae in the face. the audio of the room fades in on impact. you can clearly hear the smack and darae drops on the floor, laughing really hard. the scene replays twice more. once at regular speed and the second in slow-mo with a closeup of how darae recoils upon impact. as it returns to normal speed the second time, the screen is covered with “ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ” all over to match darae’s laughing on the floor.

meiqi doesn’t seem to notice, as she continues to dance for a moment longer before turning and yelling. she crouches down next to darae, yelling “i’m sorry i’m sorry!” but it’s clear that she’s laughing too. darae looks up at her, putting her hands on meiqi. although the younger is insisting, “slap me twice to make up for it.” darae laughs again, instead patting her butt twice before getting up. meiqi whines from the floor, “that’s not what i meant unnieeeeee!” a playful caption appears, saying “bad girl meiqi wants a punishment for her mistake ㅋㅋ”. darae shakes her head. the next scene comes.

meiqi and darae seem more serious as they dance. the audio of the dance isn’t heard but as they transition to another move, two big laughing emojis are slapped over their bodies, effectively censoring the move that they do. although judging by the girls intense and sultry expressions, anyone can put two and two together and come to the conclusion that the move was a little too sexy. the video speeds up 3x speed of the rest of the choreography bit they were practising. it only slows until after a manager comes up and speaks to them before leaving. the manager’s face is blurred.

“too sexy?” meiqi complained with a pout. darae pats her head. “it’s okay,” she says although she’s pouting too. “we’ll edit it.” the image of the two girls moving to edit their choreography fades to black. the black screen splits horizontally, the two halves sliding away to reveal meiqi and darae. they’re dressed in outfits complementary to each other like a true duo. meiqi is standing a bit closer to the camera than darae is, making her more of a center focus as the music finally plays and the girls being to dance.

their moves are in sync, clearly a product of hours of practise of the dance they created themselves. as the chorus starts, they switch places and now darae is in the foreground position while meiqi is a bit back. their expressions are intense. their moves are crisp. they switch their positions again as the song hits its bridge. meiqi gives a smirk to the camera and a quirk of the brow. darae’s smirk mirrored meiqi’s as they dance. they switch once more.

the song picks up as well as their moves. they finish the dance seated next to one another. darae with her head thrown back in the final position and meiqi with her hand in the air, looking directly at the camera. after two beats holding their position they break their dancer personas and cheer. darae claps “we did well!”

the video ends.

When Wendy and Kaeun had been told that they were appearing on King of Masked Singer, Wendy had been many levels of excited. Though she wasn’t 100 percent confident that she will make it past the first round, Wendy has always wanted to go on the show. That excitement is soon to deflate when they’re informed that they were going as panelists. Along with that deflation was probably a small bit of relief. After all, she wasn’t completely ready to go just yet. But she wants to very much. 

On the day of filming, Wendy decides to go bother Kaeun while in the waiting room. “Unnie, how good of a guesser would you say you are?” They’re technically rookies, so they aren’t expected to say much and just follow the lead of the more senior members of the panel. “I hope the information I got from monitoring all the senior artists on music shows comes in handy,” she continues as she picks up a magazine.

AND*ROMA’s comeback is right around the corner, set to happen on August 19th.

Ahead of the comeback to help with promotions, Younggi, Darae, and Meiqi will go together to a recording of The Return of the Superman on August 7th. This will air on August 16th. On August 14th, Kaeun and Gyeoul will be panelist guest members of King of Masked Singer. This will air on August 23rd.

Their comeback showcase starts at 7pm, an hour after the official release. The photo teasers will play on the big screen while ‘So Good’ plays followed by the ‘High Heels’ music video. The MC of the night, Kim Nahee, will step onto the stage to start things off. The members will be called onto the stage and introduce themselves to the public, as well as their brand new song. They’ll perform ‘High Heels’ for the first time. The MC will start a section of questions and answers regarding their new album and comeback preparations, as well as other major events during their hiatus period such as OST releases. They’ll then perform ‘So Good’ followed by a performance of ‘Summer Kiss’. During the next break, the MC will ask a few personal and variety questions, as well as their goals for this comeback and the future. They’ll sing ‘I’ll Hold You’ with standing microphones and then freely move around the stage during a performance of ‘Sugar Baby’. Their outfits will follow the one on this image.

During the first week of promotions, AND*ROMA will use ‘So Good’ as an intro song and will perform it alongside the title track. For any day that you do not have to perform or have any other schedules, you may have a break at the dorms unless said otherwise.

Music show promotions will last for a total of four weeks this time. Programs will begin pre-recording early in the morning and groups are expected to stay at the broadcasting station until the live broadcast takes place later in the day. Although music shows in real life follow varied recording schedules, for IC writing purposes, the schedule for every music show will follow this consistent pattern:

06:20AM: at broadcasting station: basic first rehearsal on stage; no makeup, casual clothes.

06:45AM: head to salon: get makeup and hair done.

07:45AM: return to broadcasting station: eat breakfast, nap in dressing room/space.

09:00AM: dress rehearsal on stage; stage outfits, makeup on.

09:20AM: return to dressing room/space: rest, eat, nap.

11:00AM: final camera rehearsal on stage; stage outfits, makeup on.

11:15AM: greet senior artist groups at their respective dressing room/spaces, accompanied by a manager. you may not sleep during this time, up until the live broadcast.

07:00PM: live broadcast; when not performing, must stay in dressing room/space until the ending stage of the show.

08:00PM: line up in waiting room area to formally greet producers, director, and senior staff.

09:00PM: meeting time with fans who attended the recordings.

10:00PM: return to dressing rooms to clean up, change back into casual clothes.

11:00PM: arrive back at dorms.

On applicable Fridays, members leave the KBS building for recording Arirang Simply K-Pop which airs 1PM ~ 2PM.

Gyeoul will be given the news on August 20th the details of an OST opportunity. The drama ‘Entertainers’ has offered her to sing one of the OSTs for the show, ‘I Can’t Live Without You’. She’ll be given the lyrics and the demo to practice with before she’ll be taken to the recording studio on September 3rd.

On August 21st, AND*ROMA will be guests on Idol Radio and on August 22nd on Cultwo Show. On August 24th, Sora and Darae will go to the radio SBS Power FM. 

On August 5th, Darae and Meiqi will record an episode of IQS for the S-POP Channel to air on August 12th. On August 13th, the entire group will record ‘MV Commentary’ for their new title song’s music video to air on August 20th. On August 23rd, the group will also record ‘Idol Café’ to air on August 30th. On August 31st, they’ll record ‘After Mom Is Asleep’ as based on this episode. This will air on September 7th.

You will gain +5 POINTS TO DISTRIBUTE AS YOU WISH, +3 DEBUT POINTS and +2 ACHIEVEMENTS for completing the written requirements explained on the idol tier page. As this is a song promotion month, one of your chosen achievements must be relevant to the above schedule and all required content should be written about activities listed on the above schedule for the month of August. There is a capped maximum of five solos, sets of starters and/or partnered threads you may write to collect this month’s points.

To clarify, the only form that needs to be submitted at the end of the month is a verification form for your debut points and achievements. Any SP points earned can be collected as soon as you finish the requirement for them. she isn’t sure if she’s mentioned it out loud, but juhee enjoys the days when they’re set to go to the radio stations. while there were still an ample need to prepare for them, juhee enjoys the atmosphere more. while cordial and polite, the hosts are rather chill and for someone who isn’t too accustomed to small talk, juhee finds their vibes much more on par with her own than the small talk she finds herself in whenever she runs into an unsuspecting senior backstage at the live shows. 

even more, she enjoys the songs that they play in between during their breaks -- after all, it was a radio show -- what would it be without the music. and sometimes, sometimes, the hosts even let the girls request a few of the songs. ( though none of juhee’s songs have made it through, unfortunately ) it’s after one particular break, her fingers slowly wring themselves from their knots ; as the hosts begin to excuse themselves from the room while she and the rest of the members are left to their devices. a part of her itches to grab her phone, to idly scroll through twitter and what not but she refrains, instead opting for opening her water bottle and taking a healthy gulp to spare her parched throat. 

music plays in the background, one song in particular catches juhee’s attention more than the others. “ah!” she perks up, setting her bottle down as she turns to wendy. “it’s per_se’s song.”

she’s handed the phone just as she makes herself comfortable in the backseat of the van. having mentioned it in passing to their manager before she and sunmi had their schedule at sbs power fm, she was happy to find her request accepted. and upon their return to the van, juhee relayed what she had in mind for her second v-live video. she knew some of the company’s pr team had mentioned it to her that she should have made it more of a habit of having v-lives, but suddenly being tossed into comeback practice had kind of derailed that plan.

so, she decides for a new video to play some of her favorite summer hits for fans -- albeit boring, juhee couldn’t really find any other way to spend with fans outside of reviewing her latest dramas she’d been binging on the side of their promotions and juhee wasn’t sure she was ready to cause fandom wars over dramas.

she can be seen fixing the phone in front of her in the car, her voice vying in and out as she laughs at something being said off-camera by their manager before she’s handed the snack that the studio had gifted them upon their departure from the studio. now that they’ve comeback juhee was getting more and more used to their radio appearances.

“hello everyone ~ did you just hear me and sun -- i mean darae unni on the radio? we were on sbs power fm! if you didn’t hear, maybe you can re-listen on their website!” her hand waves huge as she sets down her snacks in her lap and claps her hands to get rid of the crumbs that had stuck to her palms. “long time no see ~”

“i hope everyone has been well!”

“a-ah, i forgot to introduce myself. eh? everyone knows who i am?” she says, her eyes widening as she reads the comments. “eh, no way ~” she laughs, her nose crinkling before shaking her head. “i’ll introduce myself anyways for the new ones just joining us!” juhee remarks as she watches the viewer count rise.

“hello guys ~” her hand does and﹡roma’s signature greeting hand motion, fingers spread apart as she waves her hands, “twinkling and sparkling! hello ~ i’m and﹡roma’s new sky, as far as the eye can see, sora -- nice to meet everyone !”

“okay, now we’ve got that out of the way -- i’m here today to ..” she imitates a drum noise while fiddling her fingers along her lap. “dugu-dugu-dugu ~” 

“show off a few of my favorite songs from this summer. now that autumn is coming, i think it’s nice to look back at some of the songs that kept me company this summer!” 

“first! of course, i can’t not promote our newest song, high heels. if you haven’t listened to it yet -- here you go! did you see our music video? wasn’t it so cute? it was my first time practicing with heels -- i tried dancing with them before but i’m still kind of not used to it.”

she reads the comments before proceeding, “ah? any wishes for this comeback?” she hums as she thinks, “mm -- would wishing for a first win be too ambitious? i think everyone wants a first win but we’ve been working really hard for this comeback so i hope we can get a special reward such as a first win for all our efforts!”

her hand shows off her phone, the last of and﹡roma’s album drowned in the background so that juhee could play the songs from her phone. “now you’ve probably heard this song before -- luxe sunbaenim’s ‘ up & down ’ .” 

she grins proudly, “i’m not sure if many of you know this, but a few weeks ago and﹡roma did a cover of sunbae’s song and i had ashe sunbae’s lines and i was so nervous. it’s a concept we’ve never done before but i think we did it justice, though i’m nowhere near as good as ashe sunbae. i haven’t met her yet but i really hope to! she seems really cool!”

she had played a short snippet of up & down -- knowing for sure that everyone and their mothers had already heard of the song enough ( it was playing nonstop in almost every store possible since it’s release, it seemed ) -- before changing the song to a song by their brother group ( laughable considering juhee had yet to meet any of their members ), per_se.

“and next is per_se sunbaenim’s new song, ‘ o sole mio ’ , since it released it’s been stuck in my head for ages. even while we were preparing for ‘ high heels ’ i was playing it -- maybe i’ll do a cover of the choreography. it is really nice. i really like the move they do with their arms.” she reenacts the move while the song plays with a laugh. her eyes focus on the comments, letting the song play in the background. “i’m glad you guys enjoy the song too. it was a nice sound for the summer, right?”

“there’s also this american artist i’ve been listening to a lot these days, his name is giveon -- one of the new songs off his new album is my favorite. it’s called ‘ this ain’t love ’. please listen to him, his voice is really nice!”

“also samuel seo sunbae’s song ‘ soon ’ is so nice, when i go to yoga on my off days i always have this playing in the background.” she quickly changes the song after giveon’s finishes to sameul’s -- cutting out the song that had almost started in between. “it has this nice almost dance-like vibe but it’s also still nice for easy listening.”

as soon finishes, juhee pauses the next song so she can introduce it properly. “this one isn’t a new song but i just found it and i love it. i’ve never been in love before but this song kind of ... makes me wish i have.” her voice softens slightly as her gaze drops to her phone, it’s for a moment before she re-focuses her stare to the screen in front of her. she laughs at the comments that suddenly come flying. it has her sheepish at the sudden words of love coming from the fans. it’s all so new -- being told she’s loved, especially from people she hardly knew. “it’s called ‘ love ’ and from the lyrics i can understand it’s about a friend falling in love with their friend and wanting to stop pretending that their relationship is ‘ just friends ’ -- does anyone relate to it? ah, a lot of you? aw ~ i wish i could give you all hugs.”

“last but not least -- i also found this producer, called dept, and i really like his songs. they’re more rnb than pop but i think their sound makes for nice winding down music. i think it’s the best way to end the v-live, too. so let’s listen to this song well before we say goodbye ~”

her fingers press play, “it’s called ‘ summer again ’.”

juhee let’s the last song play in the background as she reads the comments, one of them catches her eye and she has a laugh -- “ah, you caught me. they’re not really upbeat or ‘summery’ -- my music taste is kind of moody, i think? at least that’s what my friends tell me.”

it’s the smallest part of juhee that she was willing to share with her fans -- even if most of the rest that she shares is unlike the real her. the smiles she shows, and the upbeat attitude she dons for shows is much unlike her actual persona but she keeps them on -- hoping that just an ounce of this smile could become real for her.

for juhee, she wished she was just the slightest bit more upbeat.

unfortunately, her music tastes failed to portray this wish.

“ah, we’re almost home so i guess this is the end for us guys ~” she waves, shooting finger hearts to the camera as she reaches out to stop the recording. “until next time!”

unsurprisingly, juhee finds herself on her phone more than she’d like to admit. if anything, she could pass it off as her generation z - esque attitude but if she was being truthful, it had more to do with her barely there attention span than anything. so, she finds herself on twitter more often than not -- browsing through the trends and the latest tweets that happen to roll off onto her feed. if that didn’t feed into her boredom, juhee opted surfing through naver. that usually helped, their trends were more than a little amusing, if anything.

except today appeared to be much different than the rest. while they were fresh from their showcase just the day prior ; it’s to be expected to find any mention of their name -- though no where near the highlights as one would expect considering their ‘ rookie ’ status ( not that juhee is complaining ).  however, much unlike their rookie status is the way she finds a familiar stagename sprawled across the premier spot on naver. was that --

“oh my god.” she feels her jaw go slack and suddenly she’s running. rather than the slow and casual stroll she had taken with their manager to grab water bottles for the rest of the girls, she’s nearly sprinting ; water bottles tumbling down her airs as she makes her way back into the waiting room to the rest of her members. her hand waving in the air as she nearly yelps, “sunmi unnie went viral!”

today, they’re recording for idol cafe. the premise is mild enough, if anything -- it seemed like it would be a lax day filled with games and scripted banter they’ve all been refreshed upon within minutes of their arrival at the studio. it seemed easy enough.

at least, that was what juhee had initially thought. -- it was right was only after, once settled into their seats along the long table ; where the drinks placed ever so gently in front of them that juhee felt her otherwise calm exterior morph into one of distaste almost immediately. a momentary lapse of judgement that is schooled into nonchalance within seconds as the cameras begin rolling and her fingers descend on the metal straw in her drink. swirling it around the item for effect before taking a gingerly -- if not brave -- sip.

( now, it wasn’t that juhee wouldn’t particularly say she was picky about her food choices .... that is, as long as it wasn’t something she didn’t like which unfortunately for juhee -- she didn’t like most things ) 

she feels her face begin to scrunch up at the first sip before she’s turning to meiqi, her finger poking into the other’s side as she peers at the other girl’s drink. “hey -- what drink did you get?” she whispers, about ready to ask if they could switch.

this was the first time and*roma was doing something such as an mv commentary. it was common for groups to do this for their comebacks. this was and*roma’s second comeback and their first time doing this. sunmi was handing the cue cards to play “mc” as the leader of the group. the girls sat around the large round table in the centre of the room. they sat two per camera. there was three camera views for all six members of and*roma.

she held the cards in her hand, smiling at the camera in front of her. “ah yes hello and thank you for joining us!” she said brightly. they were all dressed for their performance today. she pauses to count down for their group greeting: twinkling and sparkling! hello we are and*roma! “today we are doing and*roma’s music video commentary for our latest release high heels. i am going to be our lovely emcee today; north star darae!”

she pauses for a moment to let the girls get situated. she glances down momentarily to the cue cards. it was a bulleted version of what she is to say plus some of her notes. “please introduce yourselves,” she gently instructs. she motions to wendy who is to her left to start with the introductions. they would go around the circle that way until everyone is introduced and sunmi could start with the commentary.

Wendy had always known this was coming. It was just a question of when it was going to happen. 

However, Hugo’s departure happened sooner than any of them expected. As much as they promised to pursue this dream together, Hugo’s health comes first. It’s not like they broke up. They still talk to each other every day. It’s just weird not to see him in the same building anymore. 

Not everyone is as lucky as she is. 

She had wanted to check on Hosung, who is easily Hugo’s best friend in the team. Sometimes known as the “other man” in the relationship. In a way, Hosung has become the unofficial “work husband” because of this. Then again, she has Seulgi, so it was quits between them.  Lucky for her, Hosung spared her the effort and made the first move. It was to be able to have someone to talk to about all this. 

It was probably more difficult than Hosung than it is for her. After all, she and Hugo are still together. They had promised to make this long-distance thing work. She also had the other girls of AND*ROMA support her through this. Besides, there was a comeback to work on. As for Hosung, this is probably what would happen to Wendy if Seulgi ever decides to leave the team. 

This collaboration has been a long time coming, to be honest. They have joked about it too many times, but both of their schedules just kept getting in the way. It’s unfortunate that it took sad circumstances to finally allow this duet to happen. 

Wendy was content to be less in control this time, as she knows this is a personal project to Hosung. The only thing she actually called the shots in was song arrangement. After all, between the two of them, she has more experience in it. She makes sure Hosung gets to shine too, so she arranged the song in a way that didn’t let one overpower the other. Otherwise, she was content to let Hosung do as he wished, giving her input when she had an idea that she felt would improve the vision he had for this cover. 

Both practice and recording go as smoothly as it can possibly can. In between promotion schedules and OST rehearsals, Wendy was able to practice for this cover. She wanted to do her best. Hosung deserves that. As they record, she makes sure to convey the emotion the song needs. She thinks of the many times Hugo has made her laugh, and how it will be a long time until they get to see each other again. 

Wendy pretends not to see the tears that Hosung sheds when he sings the last note of the song as long as the cameras are recording them. Once recording ends, she gives Hosung a hug. “Thanks for inviting me to do this with you,” she says with a smile. “I’m sure Hugo will have a field day watching this one.”

they had just finished dress rehearsal and entered their dressing room once more. sunmi held a fan to cool herself down. dress rehearsals always made her hotter because they were wearing their clothes, with makeup and the hot stage lights on. they had two hours until their final camera rehearsal. the cuts from that one might be used just in case there’s a mistake during the broadcast. they’re really good with editing that way.

sunmi wasn’t particularly tired today. now that it was almost 9:30, she was wide awake. her blood was pumping. there was a little over an hour and a half until they had to go back out. instead of sleeping, she decided to browse on her phone. she laid down on the couch, settling on a video put on nova entertainment’s youtube channel. she had known about the cover wendy and seulgi were doing but she hadn’t had the chance to watch it yet.

she was surprised to see the cover was entirely in english. sure, wendy spoke english but she didn’t know that seulgi did too. she sounded so good! when the video ended she put down her phone and removed her headphones. the dressing room was filled with staff members walking about, getting things done. some were getting their makeup and hair touched up. because of this comeback, they didn’t have any backup dancers like they did for cushion. “younggi-ah!” she called to seulgi. she was on the other side of the room but sunmi is sure she wasn’t waiting for anything.

they were given a quick rundown of who they were meeting today. one of the show’s regular dads was a singer and actor who had two daughters. one was four and the other was almost two years old. they were told names, likes and dislikes. apparently the older one was a big fan of their music. it doesn’t surprise sunmi. their songs were very colourful and a lot of kids probably enjoyed it. maybe they’ll even dance with the little ones and teach them the point choreography.

“i got them both matching outfits,” sunmi shares with meiqi as they exit the van to where they were filming. it was one of those play zones for kids. even if their time today would be mostly short, sunmi knows she’ll be exhausted after filming. “my youngest sister is four now so i already have a membership at one of the children stores.”

the outfits were complete: a shirt and skirt with tights and cute ballet slipper shoes. a headband for each of them. she had contemplated getting them a toy too but she didn’t want to go overboard. besides, she’s sure meiqi and younggi brought something as well.

“it almost makes me sad i can’t bring my sister with me. she loves making new friends and she would have loved being here.” although the truth was, if she brought jinhee then she would have had to bring jinyoung. they hated being apart for too long. twins were a lot to handle. “did you bring anything?”

Can’t Live Without You

In the middle of preparing Kaeun’s gift, Manager Siwan calls Wendy for a meeting. Hugo was officially out of the company, so she wonders whether this has something to do with that. Perhaps the higher ups have found out and that’s also why Hugo was gone? As much as she wants to think it’s only really health reasons, she also can’t help but be paranoid. When she enters the meeting room, she’s surprised, not to mention relieved when the atmosphere in the room isn’t as grim as she expected. 

Instead she receives congratulations and a demo and lyrics are handed to her. It’s for an upcoming drama called “The Entertainer” and she has yet another OST to add to her name. Apparently, several idols will be starring in it, including her very good friend Kangjoon. At least, that’s what manager Siwan has gathered from the production team. Wendy almost hugs the manager out of sheer excitement, but she controls herself. Instead, she bounces back into the dorms with all her excitement. 

Listening to the demo, the song is probably the most dramatic one she has gotten so far. It is also probably the most vocally demanding one with all the high notes and vocal runs in it. There is also a rap part, that thankfully, she doesn’t have to do. Otherwise, she probably would have been murdered in the recording room when D-Day comes. 

Singing for dramas never gets old. Wendy’s mom is an avid drama-watcher, so this is one way for her to show her mom that she’s doing things. After all, idol music isn’t her mother’s thing. Her parents admitted that they only stream AND*ROMA’s songs out of obligation to her. Wendy knows that, after all, they aren’t into idol music. However, both parents watch dramas, so that’s another way for them to support her too. It’s also a more agreeable medium for them. 

There’s not much time to practice, as they are also in the middle of promotions. She contents herself with practicing in waiting rooms, in the car, and in the dorms. She almost feels bad for the other members having to hear this song again and again, but she doesn’t really have much time. Wendy knows she has to do this perfectly, especially if she wants more producers to notice her and want to work with her again. 

D-Day finally comes, and Wendy comes to the recording studio still dressed in her stage outfit from M! Countdown. She gifts the members of the producing team vitamin drinks and rolls of kimbap. Recording goes as smoothly as it possibly can, at least as smoothly as it can go. 

How fitting that this song comes in at this time in her life. It’s not like she and Hugo broke up, but it’s difficult not to have him here anymore. It’s a song that refuses to let go and begging to be saved. Wendy hates that she can somewhat understand the feelings behind the song. She may be strong, independent, and not need a man, but she misses seeing Hugo more than she likes to admit.

Ugh. Even her thoughts are beginning to sound like a K-drama. Despite this, Wendy supposes that it’s good for recording. Especially for a song that’s as powerful and dramatic as this one. She has to bring all the power and feeling she can incorporate.

Sensing that Wendy is overthinking, the producer reminds her to calm down. “You’re here because I think you can do a good job with the song, Gyeoul,” the producer reminds her with a laugh. “Go a bit easy on the feelings though. It’s getting in the way of your breathing. But so far so good.” 

Wendy follows his advice. She relaxes a little bit and finds herself breathing much better, thus the high notes coming out more naturally. She tries not to let her relief show until she’s asked to come out again. With this positive mood in mind, Wendy uses this to carry her through the rest of recording.

Once it’s done and the producer lets her listen to how it will all sound, Wendy can’t help but ask the other drama staff for any hints on the plot and why it calls for a dramatic song with a lot of tension like this one. Regardless, she records a supportive message for the drama all the same, making sure to leave an extra special message for Kangjoon oppa who was making his acting debut.

it’s only in her haste does she not realize the shoes she managed to nab were not hers. that is, until she’s slipping them onto her feet and realizing with just the slightest movement, her own feet are stumbling out of the heels. 

oh no. did her feet shrink? is her first immediate thought until she’s pulling her foot up to stare at the underside where their stylist had written each of their names as to not confuse the garments -- something that had been bound to happen ( and juhee was honestly surprised it hadn’t happened sooner ) due to her ongoing carelessness. a frown fixates along her lips as she sighs and begins to undo the clasps at her ankles. perhaps it would have been smart if she had actually looked before she put them on.

she scurries back to where the rest of her members are fixing their stage outfits and smiles, sheepishly. her hands cough up the evidence of her blunder to their actual owner as she pouts. “sorry unnie, i took yours by accident.” she says, softly, setting the shoes at the other’s feet.
