A PolyZool scenario i like is 🐍🐗 confess to each other and start dating first. Torao and Touma are glad for them, but...

But Touma starts feeling ~something~ akin to sadness when he sees them together, which confuses him because he IS happy for them, but also his chest kind of. Hurts. Whenever he thinks about it. He feels frustrated when he sees them in their lovey dovey bubble and he doesn't know why

One day it clicks in him that ah, when he sees them hold hands or give little peck kisses to each other, he wishes it was him, he wishes he was involved in the thing they have and the things minaharu do together as a couple. And then not much longer after he realizes he feels that same way about Torao. He didn't notice it sooner because lately Tora had dropped his womanizer persona a lot, but one day he mentions something about a cute girl he saw or a girl he used to be involved with and Touma feels...jealous, he can't stop the thought that he wants Torao to see him and talk about him in that way too

So Touma starts feeling a mixture of confusion and guilt because 3 people at the same time? Really? He's new to that. And minaharu are already together, they're going well...he doesn't want to ruin that. Besides, Torao probably doesn't swing that way anyways, if he tells him anything he would only make a fool of himself, Touma thinks, so he remains silent about his feelings. He doesn't want to make things awkward between the 4 of them, especially not after finally being stable as a group

Fast forward and he can't take this anymore, he feels like he's going to burst, so one day he just confesses to the other 3 at the same time. And he doesn't just confess to them, he straight up says he's in love with them, oh god he loves them so much, he can't contain his feeling any longer. Everyone is surprised and don't know what to say, and Touma, afraid of their silence, kind of runs away from the scene to calm himself down, mentally beating himself for ruining everything thanks to his weak heart

🐍🐗 had actually talked before about how what they feel for the other 2 is similar to their own thing. Haruka's affection for Minami was so overwhelming to him, especially after actually starting to date, that he didn't notice he felt the same way for 🐯🐶. For Minami it was the same, he noticed it first but didn't say anything because he really didn't want to hurt Haruka, he knew mentioning it could cause so much unrepairable pain that he felt inredibly relieved when Haruka brought the topic by himself. Minami also apologized for being silent about it and technically lie to Haru, but he said it was okay because he did kind of the same thing too

But now the 3 have to do something about Torao

Torao takes a little while longer to accept it. He felt so good when Touma confessed, his chest felt full and whenever he remembered it he could feel his heart beating faster. And when minaharu later confessed back to Touma and also to him he could feel his breathing stop for a second and was speechless, but in a good way. But that made him feel anxious too, because he doesn't want to feel that way, he never considered them like that, and of course because he's himself he's going to deny himself of stuff he likes and wants and will make himself feel miserable

And well i don't have much more in mind right now. It takes a while, but eventually the 4 do get together and are happy and content with each other 🥰

I'm gonna crosspost some thoughts I had on twt abt this post

I get where this is coming from but I think op is having a different conversation than the one that I'm seeing, e.g. rather than fandom zines "endangering" other zines, zines in fandom are held to an increasingly professional standard to the point where the 'zine' label kind of undersells the labor, scale, production quality, etc. that goes into it, and rather than a zine it'd be more accurate to describe it as an artbook or anthology, especially since by setting this standard people in fandom making more traditional zines are no doubt going to get (or are currently getting) flack for not making a zine to these standards

there was another tweet going around that was like '[fandom] zines being called zines when they're so art-oriented and have such little text makes no sense because zines are historically text-oriented' and I don't think that's quite right either because that stance is more about the difference in how artists vs writers are treated in eng fandom, and framing it in Zine Definition Terms doesn't actually get to the root of the issue, i.e. (physical) fanart is valued more than (physical) fanfic

it's pretty standard to have a much higher ratio of artists to writers, and much more pages are dedicated to art vs text. and I can see *some* legitimacy in why that's the case, e.g. (depending on wordcount) one can fic take up 5-10 pages vs one piece of art usually takes up at most 1-2 pages, but it still is a pretty notable difference, and the difference is especially noticable when you look at doujin/fanbooks in jp and kr and cn, where fanfics can and do get sold on the same (or a similar) scale as fancomics. whereas there's no cultural frame of reference for that here other than some folks just printing their fanfics (lol). one time I picked up a doujin thinking it was a comic but it was like 80% text (rip).

of course, there's a lot of reasons that go into fic being harder to sell, both in terms of like. copyright stuff tends to be stricter on writing (anne rice) which I feel has set the expectation for fic to be free, and audiences are going to be harder to sell on fic than art because you can look at art and instantly know whether or not you vibe with it while fic needs more time to know if you'll be invested, meaning unless you have an established audience it'll be hard to get one (and that's not even touching how trying to sell fic can get a bit of a hostile reaction from people who think it should only be free)... well, there's a lot of factors at play
