Introducing MAHo: WILL DRAW 4 FOOD & THEN SOME. You see it everyday- on the streets, at entrances and exits of highways, at the doorstep of markets, etc. people in need holding cardboard signs asking for help to get the necessities. So many of us are working for something besides food on the table- we need to work so we can have money to pay bills, pay rent, pay gas for car, etc. Other times it does not necessarily involve money. As we are seeing unfold in our world right now, the rights of the marginalized and the minorities- LGTBQ, African Americans, immigrants, women, the working class, and the impoverished - are being threatened by the elite extremists. Not to mention the basic human rights to clean environment, health care, safety, and education. All these things that should rightfully be afforded by all are hanging by a thread and it is only a matter of time before they are snatched up from us. (Montages of news highlighting these issues) Art has always had a special place in history when it comes to calling out for social justice. And I think it’s about time as an artist to do my part to use my Art to address these issues that are important to me and just about everyone right now. I can create a series of “WILL DRAW 4” highlighting these issues and modify each design to fit the context of the message on the cardboard. As I’m away from my home right now and break from my usual activities, this shall be my new project.
