as I prepare to bake gingerbread cookies on a day with 82% humidity, temperature currently 22C/71F, I reflect on how monumentally dopey it was to import European Christmas festivities to the Southern Hemisphere

I mean, you’ve got the profound cultural and societal harm caused by Christian evangelism to indigenous cultures

and then you’ve got me sweating over gingerbread in shorts and a teeshirt

(as a family life aside, currently upstairs I can hear my sister asking Green Niece if she is currently Asrael or Mistletoe, the two imaginary cats she sometimes is)
