Sanna Annukka
Born in Brighton, England in 1983, she is a printmaker and designer. Annukka’s current work is largely influenced by Finnish Folklore and Scandinavian design from the 50’s and 60’s. She loves Finnish landscape and is highly influenced by nature.
A lot of her work is filled with geometrical shapes. The colors she uses compliment her work very well. Each color is highly expressive and her design is modern yet could be placed with folk art. Her design and illustrations have resinated with huge a designer like Nordstrom. Since a lot of her work is inspired by nature there is a lot of animal illistrations she does for her design along with beautifully elegant patterns.
Her designs decorate homeware products like cups, plates, bowls and her napkins which are probably my favorite addition. Her prints are often simple silhouette imagery incorporated with intense patterns and detail. Some very colorful and bright, then there are some that are in greyscale. My favorite part of her design aspect is that she is very influenced by nature and this seemed to have created a sort of design aesthetic that helps portray her love and passion for nature.

“I’m attracted to intelligence. Not the book smart type of intelligence. I could care less if you’ve gone to college or how much money you make because of it. I like intelligent conversations that make me think even hours after its ended. I soak up words from radical minds”
I gripped the steering wheel and rolled down my window. The damp, cool air filled my lungs as I increased the volume in correlation with my speed. I noticed the depth of my thoughts as I heard raindrops trickling on glass. I found something beautifully calming about rainfall. Something relatable even, as I’ve found even the most delectable individuals are the most genuine in times where their senses feel joy.
I often dreamt of lust and spoke of change. I speak a lot, in fact, when my mind is too stuffed from irrational thoughts I feel as though I must let words flow out of my mouth to hear what makes sense. My creative mind never stopped. Every moment in my life I wanted to write down on paper and describe it to someone. Let them feel what I feel, each sensation at a time. That is who I am.
I thought about what made your own spirit dance. How your story has bent you, grown you, contributed to your hunger and direction. What excites you, what illistrates your drug of choice. Might it be your own version of success?
Tell me, is it someone who can expand your mind? A best friend who can make you feel alive and unique, like the only one on a crowded subway train. Someone who can put down their phone for more than a second to take in the moment right there with you. Sharing 5am conversations without a pause for breath.
Might it be your money, your job, the friends that you surround yourself with. Might it be the comfort of your home, the lights of the city, the revving of the engine of your choice, or the way she grips your neck as you feel her body against yours in a sea of sheets.
I thought about the years and many late nights I’ve spent living in a college town. Wearing tight dresses with long beautiful hair. Flawless face and the most eager soul. I met someone new everywhere I turned. That, to me, in itself was exciting. In some ways it very well might still be. But essentailly that serves little significance in my life.
However, what is now exciting to me is meeting those who are eager to create or change lives; To understand me in a way that others do not. Who are determined to make their mark on the world in one way or another. I have turned many heads, but I am out to attract souls. There are few people I can show every layer of myself to and for them to do the same for me. I see far beyond the outer shell that everyone correlates and connects the most with. You know, individuals grouped solely on style, hobbies, work? You name it.
But do they actually like each other? Would they be passionate for one another, handing them the shirt off of their backs, or see waves of emotion and a story when they look into their eyes. Those with the ability to set their souls on fire, or go skinny dipping in Greece in the heart of the night just because. Who see the beauty at their feet as they hike up their tallest mountain.
I tugged at my sweater and pondered spontaneous adventure. I saw my breath and longed for somewhere warm, but mostly a hand to embrace with a compass, will, or even the slightest curiosity to drift.

my children and i LOVE the stories and the illistrations contained within this book my children and i LOVE the stories and the illistrations contained within this book. unfortunately i did not heed other buyers' advice regarding the binding of the book. it is such a beautiful book to read, especially with my children at bedtime. BUT the spine was broken up from the time we received it in the mail, and unfortunately i did not act quickly after finding this and try to exchange it. but i think even if i had tried to exchange it, it sounds like this is a common problem. it is so beautiful i am having to pay additional money tto have it rebound by a book binder.we keep trying to read it as is and the pages are becoming even looser and falling out of order. that part is a bummer. i have tucked it away in a safe place with rubber bands around it until we can have the spine replaced. potential future buyers beware. Go to Amazon
Beautiful book. I remember being fascinated by this book when I was a child. The illustrations are amazing. I would recommend it for children 6 and over. My children love how the different types of magical creatures are described. The only thing: if you don't want your children to see nude bodies, then it's probably not for you. These are not sexy pictures, but in several pictures the fairies aren't wearing clothes. If it doesn't bother you, you'll enjoy this book. Go to Amazon
Four Stars Bought as a gift well received, we chose this book for our mom, who is in her sixties. she has a love of all things fairy and we thought, this was a beautifully represented story. I did not read the story myself, but flipped through the book. The illustrations are beautiful and the dust jacket makes it looks expensive. I would think that for a child, they would need to be at least at a 4th grade reading level. I have 3 children and have a fair understanding of reading ability. The writing is small and would take a 10 year old a few days to read. Enjoy Go to Amazon
The most beautiful book you can purchase! This book taps into your imagination like no other. The illustrations are absolutely exquisite and delicately detailed enough to place you right into the world of these little creatures. As someone who appreciates art and beautiful lettering, this book raises the bar for me on all of those levels. My mind twists and turns on each page as I travel through the world of magic and make believe. Have you ever wished that fairies were real? This book makes you almost 100% convinced of it. Love it so much! Go to Amazon
A wonderous journey .... As you progress through the pages of this peek into the lore of this mystical land, let your imagination run free while you allow Brian Froud and Alan Lee to weave a mystical spell of enchanted wonder, enveloping you with a sense of surreal, fantastical imaginings. This is the most fun I've had between the pages of a book in a long time! Go to Amazon
After All These Years, Still a Lovely Read I first read this book as a child; I must have borrowed it from our local library hundreds of times. I finally decided that as an adult to track down some of my favorite childhood reads and see how they held up to the test of time. I found this book to be still a treasure, not as comprehensive as my younger self found it, but delightful all the same, and still extraordinary pretty. I picked up another one of Froud's faery books, and plan on gifting it to my sister and nephew for Christmas. Go to Amazon
Beautiful! So I ordered Good Faeries, Bad Faeries and then ordered this one two days later. Somehow this one got here first weeks before the expected delivery date. And may I say that the artwork is BEAUTIFUL. And as a bonus it includes 8 frameable prints and a decent sized poster of the books cover. This was more than I expected and now I anxiously await the arrival of Good Faeries, Bad Faeries Go to Amazon
Amazing artwork and tales Hands down one of my favorite books from childhood and so forth. Go to Amazon

Beautifully illustrated, in-depth reference on herbal and plant based medicine Encyclopedia of Herbal Medicine by Andrew Chevallier. Go to Amazon
Wonderful resource! LOTS of helpful info. More info than you would probably ever need! Reading about herbal medicine history was interesting. I wish that the plants were organized by common name instead of scientific name. It's tedious to look up the plant than I want. The font in this book is too light and too small, however that may be necessary considering the amount of info contained on each page...or maybe I need new glasses! Go to Amazon
Great Herbal Reference Guide I'd heard the author was very good, but I still was a bit skeptical since many herbalism books are terrible or a little sketchy on their research. I was very happy when I opened it up and saw the level of detail in this book. It's a very good reference guide from what I can tell. I haven't poured over the pages much at this point, but honestly, it looks fantastic if you need something that covers many, many herbs and their effects on the body. Go to Amazon
Helpful book Since receiving this book I have referenced it several times. It is very informative and useful. It has the habitat and cultivation, key constituents, key actions, research, traditional and current uses along with self-help uses for the plants. It has pictures of the plant that shows the different parts of the plant and some of the plants listed also have a picture of what it looks like when dried. I like the section in the beginning of the book that talks about the history of using plants for healing and how they were looked at in different cultures and throughout history. There is also a section in the beginning that covers active constituents and what they do. Towards the end of the book there is a section called herbal remedies for home use that covers growing, harvesting & processing your own medicinal plants. It also covers how to make herbal remedies. There is also a section that has remedies for common ailments that suggests what herbs and their dosages to use to treat these issues. I'm glad that I got this book. It has been a wonderful resource to have. Go to Amazon
Brilliant, succint, beautiful - and right on! I've used this reliably for many years and love to give it as a gift when someone shows an interest. One of the best features of this book is the extremely well-organized presentation, as well as the highly clear and pleasing presentations. The layout encourages even newcomers to herbal medicine to learn quickly and easily. Really, the more I think about why I love this book, the easier it is to find more and more reasons. Go to Amazon
Beautiful book! It has actual photos verses drawings Beautiful book! It has actual photos verses drawings, a brief history of the herbs, guides, uses-I have a LOT of books, this is my new favorite! Go to Amazon
A must own! This book is a great reference book to add to your alternative medicine library collection! It's very straight forward and gives wonderful illistrations as well as details on how to prep herbs and so forth. Great buy! Go to Amazon
Great I like that it has pictures of the plants & herbs, for those of us who are new to some of the herbs. Go to Amazon
Four Stars Good read. Lots of herbs covered in this fantastic book Five Stars Five Stars Great Reference Excellent overview of herbal benefits and uses Five Stars

Enter A World You Won’t Forget My first encounter with the book Faeries, by Brian Froud and Alan Lee, was by chance my sophomore year of high school. An art teacher who had picked up on my enthusiasm for mythology and Celtic lore allowed me to borrow his copy- and never have I been whisked away into a book like I was on that day. The poor excuse for a hardcover was torn and crinkled, and yellowed around the edges… but I didn’t mind- if anything it added to the mysticism and ethereal properties that so often come with old texts and relics. Go to Amazon
First impression: Amazing! This book is amazing! The art is truly fantastic, and even comes with a fold out poster of the cover, as well as a handful of framable prints that are really cool! Go to Amazon
An invaluable source for inspiration Anyone serious about learning from faeries has to check out this book. Its pages are full of knowledge and fascination. It is not a documental but rather a compilation of popular wisdom brought to life by two of the most important interpreters of faerie art and folklore. It will be fun and at the same time you will come out feeling you understand your world a little better. But faerie is a vast subject and you can search your entire life for the meaning of it and your place in it and never truly understand it all. Go to Amazon

Amazing artwork and interesting descriptions of all the different faeries Fantastic and beautiful book. I find myself tracing the pages and the beautiful artwork when I'm bored or lost in thought. It's got amazing pictures (hand drawn artwork) and notes about all the different kinds of 'faeries' in the world. It's fantastical and I just can't get over the imagery. Everyone I've shown this off too has been interested in it and a few have even gone out and gotten it. It's a nice book to have sitting on your shelf or open on your desk and really gets your imagination going. I love it. Go to Amazon
