Home for Delilah was a small, aging modular house tucked away in an urban suburb in eastern Pensacola. It previously belonged to Andre’s father, and it served as a fairly decent abode for the young couple ever since they got engaged nearly two years ago. Andre had been living there for a decade, moving in to work at his uncle’s auto shop immediately after graduating from high school. It wasn't the most luxurious of dwellings, but it beat the miniscule space she’d been crammed in with her father, mother and older sister for years, so Delilah really couldn't complain.
Rolling her eyes at her mother’s wedding-laden text message, she pulled her keys from her pocket, guided it into the lock and pushed open the door. Closing it firmly behind her, she leaned back against it, shutting out the rest of the world for the rest of the day. Hanging her hooded jacket on the hook by the door, she kicked off her sneakers and dumped them in the corner along with her gym bag, knowing she put them in their proper place, but was too tired and hungry to worry about that right then.
She wandered into the kitchen, ignoring the small stack of unopened bills on the countertop, and opened the refrigerator. The three pieces of leftover chicken and half-full bottle of red wine wasn’t going to cut it. Sadly, ordering takeout was a bit of a luxury right now, so she had to make do with whatever she could find in the refrigerator and the pantry. Luckily, her mother had ensured that both of her daughters became creative enough cooks to see through any food shortage, which, these days, occurred more often than Delilah liked to admit. So, retrieving as many ingredients as she could find, she set about making dinner for herself and Andre, a peace offering of sorts after their turbulent morning.
It had been a stressful last few months, combining her wrestling classes with numerous double shifts at both her jobs to make ends meet. Adding the equally demanding task of planning her wedding was not helping. More frustrating, at least, according to Andre, was the fact that their nuptial plans were being delayed by her so-called ambitions, chipping away at what little income they both earned. Delilah truly wished he could see the big picture, or at the very least, show a little more support. He, of all people, should have her back. That the rest of the townspeople thought she was out of her mind didn’t mean that he had to agree with them.
Her thoughts were interrupted when she heard the front door open. Knowing who it was, her insides clenched a little with apprehension, wondering, perhaps hopeful even, that her fiancé would be in a reconciliatory mood. The footsteps coming from the living area got louder as they got nearer. Delilah diverted her focus from the saucepan to watch Andre stroll into the kitchen. and despite the tension that had been brewing between them all day, her heart couldn’t help but welcome the affection that rushed over her for him.

Andre Gibson had been every girl’s fantasy once upon a time. Still was, if Delilah was being honest. He was yet to lose any of the physical traits that made him so desirable back in high school. Just hitting six feet, his body was lean and toned from years of doing most of the heavy lifting at his father’s landscaping business. They were inseparable when they were younger; the best thing about school for her was sneaking out to hang out with him, making out with him in the bleachers after basketball games. It was like Heaven for Delilah, elated to be in a spot so many girls were dying to be in. The romance continued after high school, to Delilah’s pleasant surprise, culminating in his proposal two years ago on her twenty-second birthday. And now here they were, living together as soon-to-be man and wife.
“Hey,” he mumbled, rubbing a dirt-streaked hand over his tired face. His worn shirt was unbuttoned with his toned abs on display, and he dumped his backpack on the ground against the wall by the back door.
“Hey,” Delilah returned his greeting. “You’re home early. How did your day go?”
His tired sigh preceded his reply. “Same old, same old. We had one breakthrough though. Pops and I finally completed Mrs. Whelan’s garden.”
“Oh yeah, I remember you talking about that,” she said, stirring the contents in the skillet. “That’s great. I’m glad to know you finally pulled it off.”
“Same here, babe.” He came up behind her, peering over her shoulder. “What’cha got cookin’?”
“Improvising a little with the leftover chicken,” she started, pausing when his hands cupped her hips and his lips met her shoulder. And right away, she knew what this was. This was his way of apologizing about this morning; showing her affection without saying a word. That was the thing about her relationship with Andre. There was something special about the way that they didn't have to speak to know what the other was thinking. They fought, then acted like nothing had ever happened when they got back together. She felt he was in the wrong for this argument, but she wasn’t expecting an apology…no apologies were ever really exchanged afterwards…Everything just went back to normal, seemingly papering over the cracks, in Delilah’s humble opinion. But it kept the peace, so it was better if she kept that little discrepancy to herself.
“Now that we know how your day went, you wanna hear about mine?” she asked.
Chuckling to himself, Andre pushed gently away from her. “Sure, babe,” he said, “How was training today?”
“Tough as fuck,” Delilah grumbled, as Andre grabbed a glass and held it underneath the kitchen faucet. “Tank’s not letting up, even with two days to go till my match. But you’ll never believe who showed up at the warehouse today.”
“You really want me to guess?”
“Maybe not,” she conceded with a giggle, her eyes brightening with excitement as she recalled their brief meeting. “Jey Uso! Jey Uso of all people, Dre!”
Andre raised an eyebrow in confusion. “Am I supposed to know who that is?”
“He’s a big shot in the WWE. One of the top guys in the entire company,” she explained, even though it would most likely fall on deaf ears. “And the coolest part is he’s from right here. Raised in Pensacola just like we were.”
“That’s nice,” Andre responded with a nonchalant, almost bored tone as he settled down at the kitchen table. Delilah was well aware that Andre didn’t watch wrestling. He always called it fake and childish, but that opinion changed slightly when Delilah returned home from her very first class with bruises all over her body. She’d hoped he’d take interest in it, if only for her sake, but that didn’t look like it was happening anytime soon.
She finished making dinner and set a plate in front of him, shredded caramelized chicken with white rice and fresh tomato salad. It wasn’t gourmet, but Delilah had done what she could with what little they had. “Mm, smells good,” Andre complimented, grabbing his cutlery to dig in. Delilah sat beside him, casting pensive glances at him as she ate, pondering the right time to ask him a burning question. It was a few bites into her meal when she decided now was the right time.
“You know, you still ain’t told me if you’re coming to see my match or not,” she spoke up.
Andre’s cutlery ceased their skittering across his plate, and he averted his gaze. Delilah detected his answer right away, and her shoulders dropped. “You’re not,” she sighed, shaking her head.
“I didn’t say that,” he said quickly, “But you do understand why I won’t be able to make it, babe. You know what work is like for me these days.”
“I’ve been talking about this for weeks, Dre! You know how important this is to me! It’s my very first match! It’s in two days. Or did you forget that too?” Angrily, she stabbed her fork into a piece of chicken, trying not to imagine it was her fiancé’s eyeball. “You know what? Forget it. You don’t gotta come if you don’t want to.”
Andre started to counter her, but stopped, thinking twice about it. The last thing he wanted was yet another fight, because this was exactly how it always started. They’d been arguing a lot lately, and honestly? He was already over it. “Look…I’ll do my best to make it to your match,” he said.
“Yeah right,” Delilah rolled her eyes, ignoring the glimmer of hope that bloomed within her. “I ain’t holdin’ my breath, that’s for sure.”
“Come on, babe, I’m for real. I’ll clear out my schedule. I’ll set a reminder on my phone and stuff. I promise. Just gimme the details and I’m on it.” He stared at her with pleading eyes, determined to keep the peace between them. It had been a long, tense day, and in-house tension was the last thing he needed.
Delilah smiled, finally. “Fine. I can work with that,” she agreed. “Now finish up. Your mom sent me a few ideas on places we can have the reception. And after that…If you’re a good boy, maybe later, I’ll show you a new move I learned today.” She leaned closer to him, whispering in his ear, “In bed.”
The hand she’d placed on his thigh suggested volumes, and the tantalizing prospect made Andre smile, “Sounds like a plan, babe.” And with that, things were back to normal.
Or so they both wanted to believe.
-----------------
The next morning…
Good thing she didn’t hold her breath in the end.
As Delilah dumped the heavy weights on the ground, she let out a loud growl, trying to release the tension surging through her body. She paced back and forth frantically as she glanced around the small gym, looking for what else to take out her anger on. Every muscle in her body was begging for mercy, but she couldn't stop. She had to take her frustrations out on something, otherwise she would take it out on someone, preferably Andre. Luckily, the gym was relatively empty, sparing some poor soul from her unwarranted wrath.
Fucking coward. He couldn’t even tell her to her face that he’d changed his mind about coming to her show. If that was even his intention in the first place. He’d scribbled some lame ass excuse on a piece of paper while she slept, and left it on his side of the bed before scurrying off to work. He was long gone by the time she woke up, presenting her with fewer reasons to trust her future husband.
The music blaring in her ears made it impossible for Delilah to hear or see anyone around her. And the anger she was feeling made her essentially ignore her surroundings. So it took her completely aback when she turned towards the direction of the punching bags only to run smack into a brick wall. "What the fuck!"
Josh smirked slightly as he took a step back, watching her yank the buds out of her ears. "Ay, my bad, on me," he apologized, chuckling at the discombobulated look on her face. "Thought you saw me comin’."
"Clearly not. You ain’t that hard to miss," Delilah snapped, tearing the fingerless gloves off her hands. "What are you even doing here?" she shot, noting vaguely that he didn’t look dressed for a workout. The man who had, just the day before, seemed imposing and breath-taking, was now just another testosterone-filled asshole standing in her way, like her fiancé.
Josh crossed his tattooed arms and stared at her. "Relax," he smiled. "Thought I would stop by and see how you were feelin' about tomorrow night, but I guess that's pretty obvious," he said, eyeing her up and down. He’d been on the mark about her body…bangin’ was an understatement. He forced himself to maintain eye contact to avoid staring at her nipples protruding through her sports bra.
Delilah grabbed the bottle of water sat on the nearby bench, unscrewing the cap and taking a few gulps. There was more than one reason she was feeling the way she was, and none of them put the butterflies in her stomach at ease. "I don’t even know why I’m trippin’," she shrugged. "I'm only jobbin' out anyway. Why would I want him to see me lose?"
“Want who to see you lose?” Josh inquired.
Delilah pursed her lips, contemplating whether she should answer or not. “My fiancé.”
He regretted asking. “Oh. Right. Tank said something like that,” he mumbled.
Delilah stared up at the huge man with narrowed eyes. “You and Tank talked about me?”
“Not the way you think,” Josh quickly clarified at her suspicious expression. “He has a lot of faith in you, which is why you ain’t gotta worry so much about tomorrow. You’ll be fine.”
"You make it sound so easy-breezy,” Delilah groaned, shoving her sweaty hair away from her equally sweaty face. “Maybe if one of us got hurt, the fans will have something to remember the match by."
Now it was Josh's turn to roll his eyes. Damn rookies. "Yeah, then you’ll be the fragile weakling nobody wanna work with. I know Tank taught you better than that," he countered. "Look, it ain’t all about winning and losing, not right now anyway. It’s about making an impression on your audience. The fans need a reason to keep watching you, and the suits need a reason they should hire you to wrestle. So everything you do in that ring matters. As long as your match is entertaining as fuck and you don’t kill anyone, that’s all they’ll care about."
Raising an eyebrow, Delilah chuckled. "Right. I’ll keep that in mind for tomorrow," she said. Biting her lip in contemplation, she met his eyes again and fought the urge to swoon.
"Ay, it’s okay to be nervous. You gotta phase that out, though,” he added. “And whatever you got going on at home, put that shit aside until after the match."
It was a little unnerving how well he’d read her. “Easier said than done,” she scoffed.
For a second, Josh thought about prying, but decided against it. "Wanna know what I was like the morning of my very first match?" He watched her countenance perk up, giving him a curious half-smile that he thought was insanely attractive. "I got so nervous, thinkin’ and worryin’ about the match and shit, that I forgot my bag with my wrestling gear in it. Boots and all. I didn’t realize it until I got to the arena," he explained. “I had to rush back home, and the traffic was so crazy, I didn’t get back to the arena until about ten minutes before my match. That shit sucked ass, man.”
Nibbling on her bottom lip again, Delilah eyed Josh with awe as he spoke, his understanding words and softer eyes putting her more at ease than before. To think that the great Jey Uso had felt this jittery before his first match made her feel like they had a little more in common now.
"I really want this, ya know?" she said, relaxing some more as she confided in him. "I've always wanted this. I had a later start than most, I’ll admit, and I’m playing catch-up. That’s why I'm busting my ass so hard," she admitted. "There’s no room for error, Jey. I gotta be perfect."
Licking his lips subconsciously, Josh watched her take another sip of her water, some of it escaping her lips and trickling down the valley between her breasts, and felt a tightness deep in his gut. "Perfection don’t exist, baby girl, not in pro wrestling," he pointed out, his eyes reactively sweeping down the curves of her body before he spoke again. "Look, if Tank thinks you ready for this, then you ready," he said.
Delilah sighed heavily. She could only hope Tank was right. As she picked up her towel and bag off of the floor, she stopped short, and then turned to face him again. “Wait…Did you just call me baby girl?” she asked him.
A smirk twitched at the corner of his lips. “Sorry. Bad habit. I meant no disrespect. If I offended you, I'm sorry.” He stepped closer to her. “Forgive me?”
Delilah swallowed, taking a few steps of her own backwards. She noticed his lips twitch again in amusement. “Uh…yeah. Sure.”
Josh smiled. “Preciate that, Delilah.” He backed away. “I’ll see you tomorrow night. Think about what I said, a’ight?”
She watched him walk away from her and out of the gym, so many questions on the tip of her tongue. Her hand tightened over her water bottle, and she suddenly felt the need to take a cold shower, or two.

My Future in You | 2.0 | Bradley Bradshaw x Reader au
Tumblr media
Previous Chapter | Next Chapter | Masterlist
Synopsis: Bradley’s twenty-two years old and not where he’s supposed to be. He’s supposed to be out of the academy by now. Instead, he’s retaking his senior year of college and praying to god that he gets into flight school. Mav’s gone, his mom’s gone. He’s mad at the world. Then, a hook up at a Halloween party changes his future even more than he could have imagined.
Warnings: accidental pregnancy, references to abortion in a few chapters, angst, will be fluff eventually, will be smut so 18+, enemies to lovers kinda thing, time jump of a month and a half / two months
“Your sister is fucking insane.” Bradley grunts.
“Shut up and just lift your end,” Jake demands, straying under the weight of lifting his end of the couch. A soft sigh and the two of them lift again, hoisting more than their combined body weight’s worth of sectional sofa. “And she wasn’t crazy until you got her pregnant.”
“I can hear you!” You call back from the small kitchen. Sitting cross-legged on the black and white diamond shaped tile, surrounded by boxes and new plates and bubble wrap. Your system for unpacking is fool-proof and they’ll just get in the way if they try to help. That’s why you’ve had them rearrange the layout of the living room three times already.
There isn’t too much left in your life that you have control over these days. Graduating two years early, at the top of your class, and the only people there to be proud of you were your big brother and the guy who got you pregnant. Delaying your grad job, which you worked your ass off to get, until after you’ve given birth. Finding out you had been approved to switch to their Florida office in an email from your father’s secretary.
Moving to a place you’ve never been before, with a guy you didn’t even like up until recently. Carrying a child that’ll probably never have a name because you and Bradley barely agree on anything. Knowing that Jake, your only constant through this entire ordeal, is shipping off to basic training in a day and a half.
Everything’s hurtling forwards, you can practically hear the time rushing by like wind in your ears. Dragged along with it, no choice but to keep up, there’s a voice in your head that keeps telling you it’s okay to be scared. You just aren’t sure if it’s okay to be this scared.
He’s moving around more and more these days, growing stronger and bigger. His kicks are no longer butterflies in your tummy, but now pinpointed and real, which is terrifying in itself. More recently, you’ve been wondering if he can feel how afraid you are. You don’t want him to worry.
By hell or high water, you’re going to give this little boy all the love that you’ve got. Afraid or not, he needs you and you’ll keep going for him. Being good for him is just about all you can manage. That, and unpacking the way that you need to.
Setting the plates in a cabinet, stacking bowls, glasses in an overhead cupboard. Ignoring Jake and Bradley’s bickering to the best of your ability.
Florida’s even hotter than you were expecting. It’s the last day of May and the air conditioning isn’t getting fixed until tomorrow. Home is no longer an upstairs apartment or a cramped room on the first floor of a fraternity. It’s now an almost two bedroom downstairs unit on a quiet, residential street in west Pensacola.
Living room with fireplace, fully equipped kitchen with new stove and refrigerator. Dark brown, LVP floors and new paint throughout. You have your own Lanai and storage outside unit. Also includes washer and dryer. This northeast location is tucked away in a private dead end street but has easy access to the new University shopping area. It’s nice for a first place. The bedroom is a decent size, and the spare room will work as a nursery, even if its intended purpose was an office.
Your relationship with Bradley has turned into a type of Schrödinger problem. Neither together nor apart. Sharing a room, preparing to share a life, with little more in common than the future you roped him into. He seems excited now. He’s jealous that you can feel the baby and that he can’t. He’s looking forward to meeting his son.
But, as you turn your head and look through the archway, towards him wiping sweat from his brow in the living room, guilt surges through you. Wearing gym shorts and a backwards cap, those stupid roman numerals tattooed on his bicep as he sighs softly and leans his head back, he looks so young.
You’re younger, but this decision was yours. You wonder if he would choose this if he got to do it all over again. Certainly not. All those years of carefree fun, getting to be himself finally, figuring out who he is. Now, those years belong to your son. Swallowing softly, you turn your attention back to the only thing that you can control.
Arranging spices in the rack hung over the stove.
The afternoon hurtles by just as quickly as all of the other days have recently. The routine is the same. Jake takes the couch, glad that Bradley sprung for the corner sectional that’s just about as good as sleeping on the mattress. After a day of not really talking, Bradley slips into bed beside you.
It’s never awkward, but it probably should be. Sharing all of this. A lease, a child, a future, with someone that isn’t even really yours.
“Man, I am fucking exhausted.” Bradley mumbles as his head hits the pillow, exhaling slowly into the comfort of this new space. Your first night in your new home with him. So, you connect with him in just about the only way you ever have.
Even with this protruding, exceedingly rounded stomach, somehow he still wants to fuck you at every opportunity he gets. Looking in the mirror these days is getting harder. It’s not that you have an issue with the way you look now, you think the bump is actually kind of cute. It’s just that you don’t look anything like you used to, and you’re starting to wonder if you’ll ever be that girl again.
Running your fingers through his curls, you lean over and kiss his temple softly. He hums at the feeling, reaching out and resting his hand on your hip. He turns his head and waits for you to kiss him without opening his eyes. You press your lips softly to his, his fingers curling softly to press into the fabric of your shorts. You ask gently, lips grazing his, “Too tired?”
His lips tilt up into a soft smile as he runs his fingers along the waistband of your bottoms, brown eyes flickering up to meet yours, “Never been too tired for sex.”
Turning the two of you over, he settles between your legs, working his talented mouth along all the exposed skin that he can reach.
Curling his fingers into your roots, he moans softly into the curve of your jaw, pressing delicate kisses along your throat. Part of these past few weeks has been learning your cues, your sweet spots and your sensitivities. He’s getting good at it. It’s right as you hum and lift your hips eagerly against his that there’s a sharp jolt, a soft, dull pain as the impact hits your mid-section.
Bradley sits back quickly on his knees.
You groan in complaint, rubbing over the sore spot at the top of your developing bump. It’s only once you lean your head back to sigh in complaint that you clock the look on his face. Eyes blown wide, lips parted, staring at you like you just grew a second head.
Over the past few weeks, the little guy has been getting more and more active. Wriggling around a lot, you’ve been feeling him almost constantly the past few days. It has been ridiculously frustrating, suffering in silence, Bradley constantly frowning and telling you that he can’t feel anything. The realization comes quickly.
“Was that him?” Bradley breathes out softly, brows scrunching together.
You push yourself up on your elbows, lips quirking softly. The pregnancy websites said that Bradley should have been able to feel the kicks about a week ago, you were getting worried. Bradley reaches out again and tenderly rests his hands against the bottom of your rounded stomach.
The two of you wait patiently for it to happen again, Bradley’s lips falling into a disappointed frown as your baby stops kicking. He sighs, moving to lie down beside you and smoothing his hand over the top of your stomach as he kisses your cheek.
“I’m jealous that you get to feel him all the time, moving around in there,” He mumbles, shaking his head softly. “It’s like you’ve met him already and I have to wait three more months.”
You scoff, settling down onto the sheets that you had picked out, staring at the white ceiling, “I don’t think you’d be as jealous if he was kicking your bladder like he kicks mine.”
“Probably no—“ As Bradley speaks, your lips part, jolted by another soft kick. He raises his eyebrows as you grab one of his hands and place it over your stomach. Nothing again. He furrows his brows slightly, glancing up at you expectantly.
“Say something.” You prod him.
“Um… like what? — I don’t know what to say to a —“ His sentence stops abruptly, jaw hanging open as he feels a small but unmistakable kick against his palm. “Holy shit, that’s what you’ve been feel— He did it again!”
You giggle, resting your hand on top of Bradley’s as he beams at you, “I think he likes your voice.”
His eyes widen slightly, making him look even younger than he is. It’s hard to tell whether it’s excitement or fear on his face to begin with. He leans down and presses lips to your stomach.
“I am so,” he stops, kissing your skin tenderly again, hands cradling your growing bump. “So excited to meet you, little man.”
Your heart feels like it just about splits into two and you aren’t even sure why. It’s supposed to be a happy moment. You should be happy about this. Bradley feels a slight hiccup and glances up. Your eyes are filled with tears, stinging and threatening to spill out onto your cheeks.
“Hey,” Bradley says softly as he shifts up the bed and wraps his arms around you. “Hey… it’s okay. What’s wrong?”
You swallow, trying to hold in a sob that consumes your chest and strangles your vocal chords. Sniffling, you rest your head against his shoulder. “Do you wish that we weren’t having him?”
His brows scrunch together as he tries to piece together what about that interaction could have possibly given you that impression.
“Of course not! — Where’s this coming from?” He frowns, resting his cheek against the top of your head as he smooths his fingers along your back. You’re in your third trimester now, and the pregnancy websites said that your hormones might be kind of out of whack. But you got through graduation without a hitch.
It’s as the thought crosses his mind that you break in his arms. Hunching forwards, sobbing into your hands, covering your mouth so that Jake won’t hear you crying from the living room.
“Hey… did — did I say something wrong?” Bradley asks gently, face creasing in concern. He kisses your shoulder. “I’m sorry, I—“
You sniffle and shake your head. “Don’t say sorry. Please.”
“…Okay,” He smooths his palm tenderly along your spine once again, now totally lost. “Babe, I think you’re gonna have to spell it out for me here. What should I do?”
It’s not fair on him, any of this. You pull yourself together long enough to wipe your tear-stained cheeks and string together a sentence. “Just… if we could go back and do it all again, would you… do it like this?”
“I’d probably have suggested a plan B or something.”
You look up, eyes filled with tears, throat burning.
“I’m sorry, bad time for a joke,” He shakes his head quickly and kisses your forehead. “Look, we both know that this wasn’t planned. But it happened, it’s happening — and no, I don’t regret being here with you.”
You allow yourself to sink into his arms as he kisses the top of your head and squeezes you softly.
“Is everything okay with you?” His fingers graze along the nape of your neck and over your shoulder softly. “You’ve not really said a lot to me since graduation.”
He smooths his hand over your stomach, feeling another soft kick against his palm. It’s almost midnight now, he hopes that this kid isn’t going to be this much of a night owl once it’s born.
“Everything’s just moving really fast.” You say quietly as you settle back down onto your side. Bradley copies, laying on his side so that he’s facing you, his stomach pressed to yours. He nods slowly. “Jake’s leaving, and you’re starting work, and my parents still won’t talk to me. The baby doesn’t even have a name. I’m just scared.”
He leans forwards and kisses your mouth softly. “We’ll figure it out.”
A dry laugh escapes your lips, it’s a helpless thing, really. You wipe the tears from your cheeks and shake your head slowly, “How are you so chilled out about this?”
“I’m not,” He promises, voice quiet, something in the way that he looks at you so earnestly makes you soften. “I’m scared too. But we’ll figure it out.”
A silence lingers between the two of you. No more tears, no more lump in your throat, your heart rate slowing enough that you think you might actually manage to sleep tonight. Bradley leans forwards and kisses your cheek, then flicks off the bedside lamp.
You turn onto your other side and he presses himself into your back, wrapping an arm around you and resting it against your stomach. He’s been sleeping like this for the past week straight. It always settles his racing mind. Having both of you in his arms.
He’s warm. Lips press gently to your neck and he hums softly into the curve of your neck.
You exhale softly, shuffling back against his bare chest. This feels awfully grown up. Seven months pregnant, laying skin to skin, in your new shared home.
The next morning, it’s time to drive Jake to the airport. Basic training is three months long. The next time he sees you, you’ll be a mother.
“I love you,” He says softly, wrapping his arms around you. Your stomach bumps into his as you hug him. He’s still getting used to that. “I’m gonna be back before you know it.”
“I know, I know,” You breathe out, squeezing him tighter and then patting his back as you let go. “Just be safe. Don’t do anything stupid.”

Jake chuckles, giving a quick shrug as he picks his bag up from the floor and slings it over his shoulder. His attention turns to Bradley. “Take care of my sister, Bradshaw.”
“Always.” Bradley answers. You turn your head and scrunch your brows slightly as you look up at him. He drapes an arm around your shoulder and offers Jake a sincere smile.
As Jake turns and heads towards his gate, the two of you are left together. Him still leaning into your side. Always. You stare at him. Flushed skin, wearing a faded grateful dead t-shirt and blue jeans, smiling at you.
Just you and him. Alone, in a new state. Him swearing always and you staying up at night and wondering if there’s even a tomorrow between the two of you.
Ten weeks left until your due date.

OBGYN' Office, Pensacola, FL
Shantell’s POV
“Let’s see how everything is going,” Dr. Borden says preparing for the ultrasound. I take deep breaths as I feel my nerves getting the best of me. Dr. Borden is moving the wand on my stomach trying to find the baby and I’m nervous.
I hate hospitals and doctor offices with a passion. I still can’t believe I’m pregnant and I think that’s why I haven’t told Jey.  I didn’t want to get his hopes up, how would he respond to the news especially after the Taraji bomb the other night.
My thoughts are all over the place and I feel like the ball could drop at any moment. Could I have a healthy pregnancy, and carry this baby to term? Truthfully, I’m scared to death, and I can’t help but think of Jey. He looked so angry and broken this morning when we all left the bus shop.
I think he was going to confront Taraji; I just hope he doesn’t do something stupid. “There is your baby,” I hear Doctor Borden say, turning the screen towards me. My eyes filled with tears as I see what I could only describe as a tiny peanut staring back at me.
“Is everything ok?” I asked, wiping my tears that had fallen. “Well, you tell me Shantell,” he says turning the sound up on the machine as I heard my baby’s heartbeat for the first time. “Oh my god,” I finally exhaled as I felt a weight lifted off of me, my baby was ok.
“Everything is good, strong heartbeat and you’re about five weeks along,” Dr. Borden says printing me out a couple of pictures. “Is everything else ok, from my surgery,” I ask nervously.  “You are going to need to avoid stress, but that is all women who are expecting. “So, what’s the plan, to ensure everything goes well,” I ask.
“Well, it is important you take care of yourself; this is a high-risk pregnancy with your medical history. I want to do frequent appointments to keep an eye on you and the baby,” he says smiling as I nod looking at him. “I got ya, no stress and take it easy,” I say feeling better knowing my doctor had a plan to make sure the baby and I were ok.

Taraji’s Apartment
Jey’s POV
I’m so fuckin’ mad I can’t see straight but I gotta do this now. I need to know why, knocking on her door I could hear voices but no answer. So, I used the spare key under the carpet.
As I came in, I heard Taraji getting an earful from an emotional Rachel in the living room, so I ducked behind the front door listening. “The jig is up! Sofia went to my boss and I’m under investigation, Jey knows everything!” I hear Rachel shout hysterically.
Taraji’s POV
“What you mean he knows?” I whisper as I feel my throat closing in.
“He knows you weren’t pregnant, and now I’m in your shit,” Rachel says pacing. “Look, we will be ok. I can get us out of this,” I say trying to think.
“This got so screwed up, all he had to do was marry me when I told him I was pregnant,” I spat angrily as Rachel looked at me in horror.  “There was no baby! What was your plan? He would marry you and then what, a baby would magically appear?" she questions as I shake my head no.
“The miscarriage was always a part of the plan; I was going to tell him I lost it. By then we would have been married. So, we could have tried for a baby,” I say trying to get her to understand. “So, you were so desperate to have this man and his money you did all this. I dropped my head in shame unable to say anything.
“Well, thank you because now I’m on my way to a meeting to find out if I still have a job to support my two kids,” she said looking at me defeated. “I’m sorry Rachel,” I sigh as she grabs her purse heading towards the door “Just stay away from me Taraji,” she says storming out of my apartment.  I took a deep breath trying to pace myself, “I thought I had closed that when Rachel first came by, why was it open anyway,” I mumble as I closed the door.
Behind me I heard keys jingling and my blood ran cold. It can't be, I turned and was met with the stone-cold eyes of Jey. “No,” I whispered in shock as I didn’t expect him to even be back in town yet. “Just me and you Taraji,” he says, his voice void of feeling, his hard stare scaring me.
Jey’s POV
“I’m so sorry Jey,” Taraji cried, collapsing against me, trying to hug me as I pry her away. “You have no idea how much I hate yo ass,” I say deathly calm, looking at her guilty crying ass made me angrier.
"I love you, Jey! Please believe me," she cried as I saw red “You have messed up my life……. Bad,” I say rubbing my hands across my face trying to calm down.
“We could be so happy; please, just forgive me, “Taraji continued to beg as I swear for the first time in my life, I wanted to kill somebody. “You really played me, you was cheatin’ when we was together. Fuckin’ anybody for a come up and I still gave yo ass the benefit of the doubt,” I yelled.
“I changed! Jey, people can change!” she cried as I ignored the lame ass attempt of trying to flip the script, mascara running down her face from her tears. “You just faked being pregnant!! You invented a baby! A baby, the one thing you knew I always wanted,” I groaned in pain trying to grasp how out of touch she was with all she has done.
“I can’t believe how stupid I was. I lost the only person I ever loved, trying to be there for you and a baby that didn't exist!” I hissed at her in disgust as I see the wheels turning in her head, trying to think of what to say.
“Everything ok in here?” Jimmy asked, walking in looking at me with worry.
“Yea, we good, I just wanted to let Taraji know that Paul knows everything and wishes to meet with her on Friday before the show,” I said looking at Taraji taking in her scared expression.
“Jey, we gotta talk this out,” she cries trying to hold my hand as I snatch away, walking towards my brother. “You stay away from my family, especially Shan,” I say dropping her keys on the table.
“It’s always about her! Little Ms. Perfect!” Taraji screams as I nod in agreement with her. “Yea, it will always be about her,” I say not ashamed to admit to myself or Taraji. “She’ll never have you again after all you’ve done, and I can’t wait to see you miserable.” Taraji says smugly as I clinch my fists.
“Well, from what I heard, you won’t have to worry about seeing if Shan takes me back or if I’m miserable,” I say smugly as I know I’m about to take her ass down a peg. “Why is that?” Taraji taunts as I grin at her.” Because you may not be employed for very much longer, WWE takes these things seriously, and they are within their rights to fire yo ass. So, if I was you, I would walk a real thin ass line and stay the fuck away from my family,” I say as jimmy puts his hand on my shoulder.
Let’s go Uce, you said what you had to say,” Jimmy says trying to keep me calm.
“Yea, let’s roll,” I said walking away from her as I see I had two missed two calls from Shantell and a voicemail. “What could she want?” I mumble putting in my code to check the message. “Hey, this is Shan, we need to talk it’s very important so when you get time stop by my house. Talk to you later.”
"Who was it, Uce? "Jimmy asked as we made our way back to the car. “It was Shantell wanting to talk, it sounded important,” I say a little worried. “Good, I think it’s time ya’ll talked and get this shit straight,” Jimmy says not sugarcoating the issue.
“I know she ain’t just gon' fall back into my arms, I fucked up bad,” I say knowing I’m deserving of the cold shoulder I’ve been getting from her. “Then start from scratch as friends and work yo way back to your woman man, “Jimmy said shooting me an encouraging glance.
Maybe we could find our way back, I knew I loved her but this hothead temper of mine has got me in some shit that it’s gon’ take awhile to get out of.

Shan’s House
Shantell’s POV
It feels good to be home, I loved staying with Solo and Sofia but it’s nothing like your own house. I called Jey early this morning inviting him over to talk and I still haven’t heard a peep. Working, I faintly heard someone knocking on my door. Reaching over to look at my phone it was almost midnight.
Time had gotten away from me as I was working on a video package for Jey’s rematch against Joe. They were doing this Tribal Combat angle.  “I know damn well this ain’t his ass, this late at night, I" mutter as I got up and headed toward the door. Looking out the side window I saw his car.
“What do you want Jey?” I ask through the door, not really in the mood for any drama. "I need to talk to you, plus you told me to stop by,” he says standing back from the door. Unlocking it, I stepped outside to meet him. “Oh, I can’t come in,” he says with a small smile.  “Ain’t shit open after midnight but legs, the ER, and Waffle House. I asked yo ass to come by earlier, so nope,"” I said smartly as he laughed at me.
“Walk wit me then” he says grasping my hand. “Let me get my keys and my blanket its cold,” I say stepping back inside as he looked over my shoulder trying to look around my house “You sure Montez ain’t in there, right?” he asks with a frown. “Well, if he was, it would be my business.” I say rolling my eyes at him.
“I’m kidding, I know I’m the only one,” he says proudly as I shake my head at him. “If you can’t get your shit together, you won’t be the only one for long,” I say as his smile drops seeing the seriousness in my face. We walked down to the beach and just enjoyed listening to the waves for bit before finally sitting down on the sand to talk.
“Shan I’m really sorry about calling you damaged, I didn’t mean it, I was just grieving, looking for someone to blame.” I said feeling ashamed, I wanted to hurt her because I was hurting. “You really hurt me, and it took me back to a place I didn’t want to be. You knew that would hurt me;” I said wiping my tears.
“I meant what I said that night, your everything and any man would be lucky to have you,” he says pulling me close as I lay my head on his shoulder. "I can't believe you remember that?" I whispered as I closed my eyes, it felt so good to be back in his arms again. "I remember everything about you, since the first day I met you," he said playing with my fingers. My mind was screaming tell him, but I feared how he would react.
Jey’s POV
“I had told my ma, I was leaving Taraji to be with you that night at our family dinner,” I said just wanting to lay it all out on the table.  Shan looked at me before glancing out at the gulf. “Well, I’m sorry you had to argue with your mom,” she said rubbing my arm. “You were worth it,” I assured her, as her unsure smile made me want to kick my own ass as I reached over and kissed her on the cheek.
“So, what did you need to talk about?” I asked, wanting to know as I could see she seemed worried. “We can talk about it later,” she says quickly wiping her tears looking at me. “Just tell me baby, I got you, “I say grasping her hand placing a kiss on it.
Shantell’s POV
I took our joined hands and placed them on my stomach “Josh, I’m pregnant,” I whispered trying to not to scare him.  The silence is scaring me as I can’t see his face. “Josh, did you hear what I said?” I asked a little louder, and still nothing. Ok, that’s my cue to go. I tried to move but his grip on me tightened as he finally looks at me.
“You havin’ my baby?” he asked smiling, as I saw tears welling in his eyes. "Yea, you knocked me up,” I joke as he laughs, gently kissing me “Thank you,” he said putting his hand back on my stomach as a few tears escaped his eyes, "You don't have to thank me," I said wiping his tears as kissed my stomach “Baby, it’s yo daddy. By the time you get here daddy gon’ have it right, I promise,” he says pulling me closer as I ran my fingers through his hair trying not to cry as he's talking to our baby.
I felt better having told him so he could share in this experience, but we have a long road ahead before we were Josh and Shantell again.

Smackdown Before the Show
Bloodline Dressing room
“I hope they transfer her ass,” Tangela says walking around the room pacing. “I don’t want anybody to lose they job, but I wish she would leave Shan and Jey alone,” Trin said as I came out dressed for the show. “Aww, I can’t wait for you to start showing,” Tamina said rubbing my stomach.
“Girl, I gotta be able to hold my food down first,” I laugh as I gather my notes. “What has Mr. Real Chief been doing to get in your good graces,” Tangela asks as I shake my head at her poor attempt to get some tea.
“It's almost like when we first started dating, he’s been staying the night,” I say shrinking back at the stare from Trin. “Bitch, I know you ain’t been holdin' out on me," she says frowning at me. “Trin, we may make small talk, he talks to the baby, watches tv and sleep, “I say trying to get my point across.
“Basically, taking it slow before rushing into anything and it makes sense, Tangela says agreeing with me. “He understands he hurt me, and it’s going to take awhile. That’s all I can guarantee at this point,” I say putting my shoes on heading towards the door to getting ready to go to Gorilla.
“I need to find Joe, so I’ll walk with you,” Tangela says as I smile totally glad for the company.  Enroute to Gorilla I had to use the restroom, so I ducked into the ladies' room as Tangela went to find Joe. Stopping dead in my tracks I see Taraji at the sink crying. Fuck, this is all I need right now as she turns to look at me.
“You happy, this is all your fault! I’m suspended, and they are transferring me back to raw!” she shouts as I take a deep breath not wanting to argue with her. “Taraji, I didn’t make you do what you did,” I say trying to remain calm.
“I just fuckin' hate yo ass,” Taraji says walking in my face, as in this moment I know she’s confrontational and I got to protect myself and my baby. “Look, what do you want!” I yell tired of the bullshit. “I WANT JEY!” She hysterically screams at me; this bitch is crazy. “I worked for him, so I should have him,” Taraji says continuing to rant.
“Taraji, yo ass better go find yourself something safe to do, like playin’ in traffic,” I say smartly. “What you gon’ do? I been waiting on you Shantell,” she taunts as she mushed my head back. See, I am trying Lord, but she just keeps on pushin’ me.
“Look, chill and gon’ on Taraji,” I warn as she smiles before slapping me, as I feel the blood coming from my mouth. I subconsciously rub my stomach, Baby, mama is so sorry, but I gotta clean this ho up right quick. Before she could swing again, I punched her in the face as she fell in a heap on the floor. “I don’t do that slappin’ shit,” I hissed as she was holding her eye. “You bitch,” she muttered still nursing her eye.
“You still in here Shantell?” I hear Tangela asking walking into the restroom taking in the scene before her. “What the hell goin on?" she asks seeing Taraji getting up. “Just a misunderstanding,” I say trying to squash the issue. “Nah, I ain’t buying that shit, look at your lip.  She still fuckin’ wit you? Tangela asked now eying Taraji. "I’m good, just leave it, sis,” I plead just wanting to leave.
“Now, you work here, Trin, and Tamina do too but I don’t,” Tangela warns as Taraji charged at her swinging, before I knew it Tangela had caught her by the hair and started punching on Taraji fast as hell. All I saw and heard was fists tagging Taraji, alternating between her head and face, "Let me go, ho!" Taraji screams, now not fighting but trying to get Tangela off her hair.
Tangela continued to drag her ass around the bathroom “You one stupid bitch! open the door, Shantell!” Tangela screams as I jumped scurrying to the door. “Let me go!" Taraji yells struggling to keep her footing as Tangela is draggin’ her down the hall as people are looking at us. "Get yo ass outta this building!," Tangela yelled yanking Taraji's hair harder.
What the hell ya’ll doin’!?” Jimmy shouts running over to us with Paul prying Tangela away from Taraji. “What the hell is going on?” Paul shouts as Tangela tries to go back at her. “She attacked Shantell in the bathroom! I thought she was suppose to be gone, Paul!” Tangela yells as Paul jumped on the defense. “She was suppose to be! You three in my office now!” He shouts as Tangela rolls her eyes.
“Paul, I don’t work for yo’ ass so I suggest you ask me nicer than that,” Tangela snaps as I put my hand on her shoulder.” Please Tangela, let’s go,” I beg as I see Taraji walking to his office in front of us. "Tangela, we are going to get it worked out," Paul said calmly walking with us. "You better, cause ain't nobody got time to be harassed at their job by idiots," she says calming down.
“Jimmy go get Jey and Joe, meet me in my office,” Paul says following us inside.
This feels like the fuckin principal office, Tangela and I on one side, and Taraji on the other. This is not how I wanted the night to go. I just wanted to work and enjoy my night.
“What happened ya’ll?” Joe asked coming in looking at us with Jey and Jimmy behind him. “She attacked Shan and tried to charge me, so I dragged dat ass, that’s all,” Tangela says casually not caring how it looked or sounded.  I looked over and I could see Jey steaming but not moving from beside Joe. “Taraji, what do you have to say?” Paul asks as she sighs in a defeated tone. “I was in the bathroom; Shan came in and I was just so angry. After some words I slapped her,” Taraji says quietly.
“You what!” Jey shouts angrily finally seeing the blood on the side of my mouth. “Then I punched her in the face,” I said honestly as Jey groaned coming over to me touching my face trying to see if there was any more damage.
“Shantell, you can’t be doing that,” he started as I looked at him giving him a signal to stop talking. I knew he was about to say I was pregnant and honestly, I didn’t want this bitch to know that.
“Taraji, security will escort you out of the building,” Paul says as I see Tangela getting annoyed. “That’s what you should have did personally after the meeting, and we wouldn’t be here now,” she says matter of fact.
“Tangela, baby chill,” Joe said kneeling in front of her trying to take her attention off of Taraji.
“Now I’ve really got to reconsider this whole job thing, you can’t be attacking people, you will be working in the Stamford office.  You are off the road completely until further notice,” Paul informs her as out the corner of my eye I see her nod in understanding as she stands up and walks out with security.
“Now Shantell you know that was dangerous with your condition,” Paul says scolding me. “What did ya’ll want me to do? Just stand there and let her continue to assault me. She could have hurt me or the baby,” I say rambling as Joe looked at me smiling.  “Your pregnant?” he asked, turning giving Tangela a knowing smile. “So, that’s why you were in guard dog mode, huh,” he says kissing her.
Guard dog, shiiid! You saw all dem' knots on that girl forehead. She was draggin’ that girl down that hall like Godzilla with Shan walking behind her,” Jimmy says snickering. “It was definitely a sight to see, has your wife thought about training Joe," Paul says shaking his head cracking a smile.
"How about no," Joe says laughing as Tangela hits his shoulder smiling.  “Alright can we get back to work now,” I ask just tired, and wanting to work. “Yes, Ms. busy body, you can go to work, and be careful” Paul said as I got up, thanking Tangela again before I left with Jey following behind me.
“Hey… Slow down, ma,” he says gently pulling me to him placing his hand on my stomach. “We’re ok,” I say reassuring him as he kisses my neck. “I’m sorry you having to deal wit this cause of my ass,” he whispers as I lean back in his arms. “I know,” I responded taking a couple deep breaths.
I hope this is going to get better because all this stress is making me want to go hide under a rock and we still got Joe’s family cookout coming up.  Just thinking about my mom and Jey’s in the same house is making me ill.
------------
Smackdown
Camera nine I’m glad you had eyes on Jey that was good shit! Let’s take it home! Hard camera pace you out with camera three on Roman. "Let’s go to work Stu!" I shout in my headset. “You love this chaos. Shan, what are you going to do when you out on maternity leave?" He asked laughing. “I’m gon' fucking cry,” I said laughing. You could feel the intensity in the ring between the cousins as Roman and Jey walked to the front of the table.
“Hard camera it’s coming back to you,” I said into my headset. Let’s get this money shot, Jey and Roman embraced and took a deep breath together, their heads touching. I remember Jey telling me about this and how important it was to their culture.  It was amazing to see.
Hey, beautiful,” Montez says sitting beside me. “Hey, give me a second,” I say as I’m watching the monitors. Cameras five and seven pace between Roman and Jey please to end the show. It should be some good expressions coming, and they didn’t disappoint. We’re out in 5,4,3,2,1. Great show crew!" Thank God, we made it, tonight has been a tiresome night.
"You know you sexy doin’ that right," Montez says as I laugh. "Well, thank you, I guess," I say closing down my monitors. "Here let me help you," Montez says standing up, leaning over me to lift a monitor. "Everything good over here Shan," Joe says coming up with Solo who was looking like he wanted to lay waste to Montez.
"Yea, I’m good Montez was helping me with the monitors, so I didn’t have to lift it," I say as Joe nods stepping in to help along with solo as well.
"So, I was wondering would you like to go out to grab a bite to eat tonight?" Montez says not caring that Joe and Solo was right there. "I don’t think so, it’s been a busy hectic day and I’m not into dating right now,” I said making sure everything was good in the cases.
“Well, maybe next time, I’ll see you later then,” he says leaning over giving me a kiss on the cheek and walked away before I could respond. Joe and Solo were staring Montez down as he walked by them not caring. “What was that?” Joe asked as I shrugged my shoulders. “Your answer is as good as mine, I have no clue," I said honestly. Unbeknownst to me Jey had seen the whole interaction and was not happy.

Shantell’s Hotel Room
Shantell’s POV
"So, you're not talking to me because of something I didn't ask to happen?" He just did it," I said getting a little irritated with Jey as I walked out of the bathroom in one of his old shirts.
"He been around a lil too much, I mean is you fuckin' him," Jey says looking at me with an anxious look on his face.
"I’m not fucking him!" I shout as Jey is pacing around the room just speaking nonsense.  “You doin’ something! A mothafucka felt bold enough to come sit wit you alone, and kiss all over yo ass,” he says rubbing his hands over his face.
“You are so insecure, and we aren’t even together!” I spat angrily. I can't believe that he would even think I would do that.
“I ain’t insecure, I just don’t want him hanging all over you because I know what he wants, and he can’t have it!” Jey shouts as my eyes widen in shock. “Jey, I’m a grown ass woman, you can't be telling people not to talk to me! I can do what I want, when I want! We aren't together!" I shout equally as frustrated as him.
Don’t you know, I know you miss me,” he says inching his lips closer to mine and even though I do miss him, this is about a power struggle right now that he's determined to win.” I don’t know what you are talking about,” I say fighting the urge to kiss him senseless. I wanted him bad; he snatched his shirt off my body and pulled his sweats off.
“What makes you think, I’m going to sleep with you,” I ask, biting my lip staring at him, growling he pulled against his rock-hard body. I gasp at the feeling of him against me, knowing I'm powerless to stop it.
“Baby this is me, I know every inch of you,” Jey says starting to place kisses on my lips then moving to my neck as I’m fighting an internal battle to remain quiet. “I know what you need,” he says never missing a beat with his tongue as it slides along the curve of my neck. I wanted him and he knew it, these hormones ain’t playing.
“Baby just let go, "he groans against my ear as I feel myself losing the battle. I finally gave in as I took him in a heated kiss. As the minutes passed, the more desperate out kisses became as our tongues met in a dance where I couldn’t tell where I began, and he ended.  Taking control, I pushed him up against the door “You want me to feel I, ask as I felt him shiver against me in anticipation.
“You want me to let go,” I whisper into his ear before snaking my tongue out and around his ear lobe. Hearing the growl in his throat I knew I had him as I trailed kisses back to his lips but not before making one simple statement. “You want me to feel, then make me,” I said attacking his lips with mine.
" Shit, I can’t wait, I’ll make it up to you, I Promise,” Jey moans against my lips entering me "Oh!" I gasped, pulling his closer. “Daddy’s home baby,” he whispers against my ear beginning to thrust inside me slowly, “Mmhm!" I whimper against him no longer able to deny he had my heart and soul.
" Welcome home, baby” I moaned as he started thrusting harder and faster. It was true, us together was indeed home, without missing a beat Jey reversed us with me now on top. “Ride Daddy, baby,” he moaned as I placed my weight on my heels and started bouncing slow and hard. “Shit, just like dat, ride yo dick,” he encourages as I continued riding him harder.
“I plan too,” I moaned as I started to speed up my movements but every so often slowing down twirling my hips in a circular motion. “You think I’m fuckin’ him?” I asked, gasping as Jey thrusted upward harder inside me. "Don’t play with me, Shan! Fuck!," he shouts as I clinch my muscles around his dick as I ran my nails down his chest. "Don’t you play wit me; Josh," I say continuing my sensual torture.
Jey’s POV
“Damn, you feel so good,” I moaned as cupped her breasts almost painfully squeezing them as she rode my dick. “You didn’t answer me,” She pants never breaking her rhythm.  “Do you think I’m fuckin' him? Tell me," she groaned speeding up as I finally snapped.  “Fuck, no! This my pussy," I growled sitting up taking her in a possessive kiss, carrying her from the bed, bracing her up against the wall thrusting deep inside her.
"Josh! Wait baby," I hear her whimper against my lips as I feel her legs trembling around my waist. Nah, you bout to squirt all on this dick, u hear me?" I declare, claiming her lips in a desperate kiss as her moans are bringing the possessive side of me.
I felt myself going deeper and deeper as I couldn’t get enough of her. “He can’t have you, say it,” I groaned losing control as each second passed. “He can't have me," Shan cried as I came undone thrusting away inside her hard and strong, with each thrust her head was lightly hitting the wall.
Her pussy gripping me tighter and tighter as I pulled her close. Her nails diggin' in my neck as I attacked hers as we clawed at each other trying to get as close as we could.
“I’m about to cum,” Shan moans as I reach down between us and began playing with her clit. “Who you cumin’ for, me or him?” I groaned as I began thrusting even harder inside her. “Who is it for baby?” I moaned looking down at my dick moving in and out of her pussy. “I know I’m bout to cum, and it’s all for you,” I confessed, taking her whimpers in my mouth as I kissed her with wild abandon.
“Who are you cumin’ for!? “I groaned as she squirted on my dick as I was cumin’ inside her. "You! I’m cumin for you, Josh!" She screamed as she rode her orgasm holding on me tight.
“Don’t you forget that shit either,” I say kissing her shoulder. I was insecure and I knew it, but I knew what Montez’s intentions were and I’m not giving Shantell up.

Carnival Confessions
Jey’s POV
Shit! I’m running behind, I had to do a couple interviews today, so everybody was already at the carnival. It was a good idea for the girls to unwind after all the drama last night at the show. After searching I finally found Trin and Shan ordering some food.
I know this lame ass dude ain’t here, I see Montez approaching them and I see red. He just won’t take the hint; he knows Shantell is pregnant with my baby and he still sniffing round like a dog in heat. Nah, bruh that’s my woman even if she doesn’t realize it yet.
Shantell’s POV
"Hey, it’s funny running into you here since you can’t ride anything," Montez says smiling.
“I’m here for the food, and the games,” I laugh as he gives me a hug. “Well, can I walk with ya’ll?” he asks as Trin smiles. "Sure, come on Montez, the more the merrier,” she says as we continue to walk and explore the carnival. “Where is Jey he should be here by now,” I mutter looking around for him. I faintly hear Jimmy and Trin arguing over Montez joining us.
“Where the hell he come from?” Jimmy hisses at Trin as she smiles at him. “He has a crush on Shan, plus Jey and her ain’t together. So why my girl can’t explore a little?” Trin asked taunting Jimmy. “Because my brother gon’ figure his shit out, he gon’ make it right. He just needs a chance Trin,” he says looking at Montez.
“Nah, I think he needs to know Shantell has options, to get his ass in gear," Trin responds staring at Montez stealing a piece of Shantell’s funnel cake.  “Can I talk to you, Shan?” Montez asks as Trin and Jimmy showed their armbands to the attendant and got on the Ferris wheel. “Um, sure what’s up?” I asked feeling a little uneasy.
Jey’s POV
This mothafucka really tryin' it. I know I shouldn’t be sneaking around watching them but in need to know what I’m dealing with. I can’t help but move further, trying to see and hear what he’s sayin’ to Shan as he led her to a picnic table.
“I really like you Shan," Montez said grabbing Shantell’s hand, before she could respond he placed his finger on her lips. “Let me finish before I lose my nerve,” he stutters as she smiled at him. What the fuck is going on, I know Shantell ain’t entertaining this shit.
“I know about the baby and how complicated things are with Jey,” he says as she looked down. “I want you to know that you have options, and I love chillin’ wit you,” he says touching her face making her look at him. “I like hanging out with you too, we're friends” Shan responded smiling, and I felt sick as fuck.  “I would like to take you out,” Montez said pushing her hair behind her ear. "We can even go as friends,” he adds after seeing Shantell’s shocked face at his suggestion. See I can’t take this shit no more, I’m bout the kill his ass.
“Aye, Shan ain’t interested Tez,” I say walking over to them not being able to take it anymore. “What's up Jey?” he asks standing up as Shan looks at me with a worried expression. “What's up my ass, you trying to put the moves on my woman,” I say in his face as he folds his arms across his chest.
“Well, the last I knew ya’ll were just friends, after all the shit you did who could blame Shantell," Montez said with a neutral look on his face. "What the fuck you know about it," I hiss as I see Shantell standing up approaching us.  “You was reckless wit her, and that can be another man’s gain,” Montez says smiling at me.
“You mothafucka,” I snarl wanting to rip his head off. “Yea, I’ll be dat, the mothafucka, gladly to be wit Shantell,” Montez taunted as I got in his face. “Hey! We in public and I ain’t wit nobody! Shantell quietly shouts trying to not bring attention to us. “The only thing I care about is my child, fuck all this other bullshit! Continue the pissin' contest without me,” she says storming off. “Stay the fuck away from Shantell!”  I warned as I went to follow her.
Shantell’s POV
“Can you take me back to the hotel Solo,” I asked having found him by the restrooms. “Yea, I’m tired myself, it’s hot and I need to call Sofia,” he says looking at me worried. “What’s up?” he asks as I pointed behind me at Jey who was coming towards us.
“Aye, Shantell let me talk to you,” Jey says walking up as Solo blocks him from seeing me. “Not now Bro, folks could be watching, we ain’t trying to be on TMZ. I’m bout to take her back to the hotel to get some rest. Hit her up later,” he said as Jey finally agreed walking off.

Hotel Bar
Solo’s POV
He fuckin’ tried it man, you should have heard his bitch ass. “You was reckless wit her, and that can be another man’s gain,” I said mocking Montez as I snarled in disgust. “Well, where is the lie,” Joe says as I shot him a look as he downed his Tequilla shot. “You suppose to be on my side!” I say raising my voice a bit as Jimmy hits me on the shoulder.
We are on yo damn side, that’s why we here. Calm yo ass down,” he says with an irritated tone and face. “All the shit yo ass been complaining about these last two hours, you could have been in Shantell’s room telling her the truth,” Solo said pointing at me. “And what is that? I asked with an attitude. “That you love her and it’s killin’ you to think about another man takin yo place, fool,” Solo say taking a sip of his drink.
“Look, you need to fix this. I’m so serious, yo issues is fuckin up my time wit my wife, I was just about to get some pussy and here Solo comes sendin’ a 911 text about yo ass,” Joe says seriously. I feel ya cuz, shit don’t make no sense, like seriously,” Jimmy says giving me the side eye as I put my drink down. Alright, I’m goin’ I say throwing down some money for the tab heading out the bar.

Shantell’s Hotel Room
Shantell’s POV
“Shan! Let Me In!” Jey shouts knocking on my door. “What the hell?” I said out loud wrapping my robe around me, coming out of the bathroom. Looking through the peephole to be sure I groaned, opening the door as Jey stormed inside. “Look, we need to talk,” he said, and looking at him I can see he’s had a few drinks. Oh, no I don’t want to deal with truthful drunk Jey tonight.
“I followed you guys at the carnival today for a minute before I finally came over,” he said pacing in front of me. “Why would you do that? I ask as Jey stops pacing his intense stare almost burning a hole in my soul. “I don’t want him near you!” He exclaimed coming closer to me holding my gaze.
“Come on Jey, we weren't doing anything, you didn't even give me a chance to tell him no. I don't even know what you and me are after last night," I say pulling my rob tighter around me as I feel him undressing me with his eyes  “Listen,” he starts as I cut him off “Can we talk tomorrow,” I said walking past him trying to open the door as he used his hand to close it back, pulling back into his broad chest as his arms went around my waist, holding me firmly in place.
I could feel his breath against my ear as his lips are close to my ear. “You have to understand, I am….I am a man," he mutters against my ear. "When you and I go into your room at night, I can’t turn myself in to a robot with no feelings, no desires. I aint build that way Shan,” he whispers kissing my neck as I moan leaning against him.
“Jey, we can’t,” I moan as he rubs my stomach. "I talk to your stomach every night to let our baby know, daddy loves him or her and that I love you. Every night I watch you,” he speaks as against my ear as his powerful deep voice is making it hard to think.
“You take a shower, comb your hair, and rub lotion on your body,” he says gently wrapping his hands around my throat, taking me in a slow tortious kiss.  I groan as his other hand unties my robe, as the cool air from the room along with his powerful kisses cause me to shiver. “You put on one of my old shirts, and I pretend I’m on my phone, or watchin’ tv, he whispers against my lips as I kiss him again.
“Mhmm, that ain’t what I’m doin’ baby,” he breathes against my mouth before  moving his kisses to my neck. “I’m watchin’ you, I’m tryin’ not to, but I am…I do,” he moans moving his hands caressing my sensitive breasts as I gasp at his confession and actions.
His actions and words are crumbling down the walls I’ve built to protect myself. Please, don’t stop,” I beg as he continues his torture of my senses as his hand is now playing with my even more sensitive clit.
Jey’s POV
“I am a man…. I am yo man. So, it ain't no more questions bout what we are. I'm yo man, and you my woman,” I whisper nibbling on her ear before licking and biting her neck. I had to make sure she understood me, she was mine and I was hers. I'm not about to lose my family; Shantell and the baby are my family. I feel her trembling against me, and I know she’s close.
Her strained cries of pleasure are encouraging me to continue to let my truth be known and to touch her. “I want to be with you," I proclaimed as I felt her falling apart in my arms. "Josh!" she cried falling into my embrace as I held her tighter. “I love you, and our baby,” I whispered against her neck, holding her tight." I love you too, Josh," she said trying to compose herself as I kissed her. I know we got a long way to go but for now we are going to take it one day at a time.

Annual Family Barbecue
Joe & Tangela’s
Joe’s POV
“You really trying me with these little sundresses, Tangela,” I growl against her neck as she’s trying to finish getting dressed for our annual cookout. “Babe, we ain’t got time for this everyone is about to come over baby,” Tangela wines moving away from me.
“A’ight I’m gon’ remember that shit when you want daddy to tap dat ass,” I boast as she blushes. “Well, I ain’t got to ask, I’ll just have to take that dick when I want it,” she says brushing up against me as I groan feeling her hands grab my dick.
“See yo ass starting shit,” I moan as the doorbell rings. “See I told you; we wouldn’t have had time; she says brushing past me to go open the door. “Damn! I hate it when she’s right but tonight she gon’ make it up to me.
Shantell’s POV
Well, it’s time for dinner and I’ve been avoiding Jey’s mom all day as I caught her looking at me a few times. I don’t know how to approach her and my mom watching me like a hawk isn’t helping either as she’s looking for any reason to pop off.
“Can someone pass the chicken,” I ask looking at the table spread not sure as to where to start. “I got you sis,” Jimmy says passing it to me. “So, Shan how far along are you?” Jey’s mom asks me as I look at Jey his contagious smile making me smile.” I’m almost eight weeks now, “I say happily. “Oh, so how is this going to work, are you guys back together?” she asked as my mom tapped my knee under the table as I gave her a pleading look.
“Uh, we are taking it day by day,” I said as I could feel papa Kishi’s eyes on me. “So, I guess marriage is out of the question?” he asks as I began coughing, almost choking on my food. “You ok babe,” Jey asks as I nod in response.
“Dad we are building our relationship back to where it was, I want to marry Shantell someday but we ain’t there yet,” Jey says as Jimmy gives him a proud nod.
“Oh, so are you getting a blood test for this baby?” his mom asked as I felt my mom tense next to me. “Oh, so what the hell you sayin’ about my daughter Mrs. Fatu?”  my mother questions in an irritated tone. “Oh, shit,” I heard Joe whisper as Tangela cleared her throat.  “I said, are they doing a blood test on the baby before he signs the birth certificate?” she asked again.
“No, mama I’m not, this is my baby,” Jey says looking his mother in the eye. “Well, how do you know son?" she asks as my mother throws her silverware on her plate. “Now what you ain’t gon’ do is sit here and attack my child,” she says as I try to cut her off.  “Mama, it’s ok,” I say as she shoots me a look to shut up.
“The hell it ain’t! You been faithful and true to this boy, motivated him, loved him in spite of all the bullshit he don' took you through," she said as I felt Jey holding my hand under the table trying to keep me calm.  Now, she should have had this energy towards the hussy she let sit in at family functions that invented a fuckin’ baby! Yea, I said it!" my mama shouted as Jey’s mom looked upset.
"Your daughter is bringing my son down, he’s not as focused on his career as he should be, now she’s pregnant! Probably just wants him to take care of her like Taraji she did, "she says in disdain looking at me. Take care of me? Lady, I make damn near three times as much money as Jey.
“Mama don’t get upset,” I said feeling the anger radiating off of her. "You want act like my child ain’t good enough for your son, woman you better come correct, I’m here now! You ain't gon' be disrespecting my child!" my mother says pointing her finger at Jey's mom.
"Auntie, we trying to have a family dinner, can you just cool it," Joe says looking at me mouthing he was sorry. "I'll hush, I'm just saying he better watch her around his money," she says taking a sip of her wine. "My baby makes more money than yo son does, she is a lead production director, most sought after at that.
She can go anywhere she wanted tomorrow, or anytime so she doesn’t need his lil ass money, she got long strong money over here boo,” she said getting back at Jey’s mom. “Ya’ll need to chill, it’s not good for Shantell or the baby," he said getting upset rubbing my shoulders as I had my head down not wanting to look at anybody. I knew I shouldn't have come when I found out she was coming.
“Boy all this shit is you and your mama’s fault,” my mom says pointing at Jey. I ain’t denying that, and I’m doing everything in my power to make it right. I love Shantell," he said looking at my mom who seemed to like his answer. “She just wanted to trap my son!” Jey’s mama screamed pointing at me as a couple exhausted sighs could be heard at the table.
“See, I told you this was a bad idea, we ain’t have no business comin’ over here tonight!” Trin hisses at Jimmy as he’s clueless as what to do to stop his mom.  “Mama let’s take a lil break,” Solo says standing up going over to his mom and taking her glass of wine. She was obviously drunk. Sofia gets up with Cameron, who is becoming fussy because of the commotion. “I gotta change Cameron,” she says walking off trying to get away from the drama.
“I ain’t goin nowhere, Joe invited me,” she says taking a bite of her food. “Ma, why can’t you admit you were wrong about Taraji, and apologize for trying to push Josh away from Shantell,” Jimmy says honestly.  “I ain’t got to do nothin’” she says as I stand up. “Joe thank you for the invite, but in the course of ten minutes, I’ve been called a whore many different ways and a gold-digger. Now in order for me to keep being respectful I need to leave. I’m just over this,” I say trying to stay calm. I understand Babygirl," Joe says looking at me with sad eyes.
“No, you aren’t Shantell, sit down," Joe’s mother said as I looked at her with pleading eyes. “This is my son’s house, and he invited you, we're family.  I for one am happy Joshua found someone who makes him happy,” she said as I sat back down.  “Thank you, auntie,” Jey said giving her a small smile.
“Now, there you go, perfect auntie,” Jey’s mom said rolling her eyes at Joe’s mom. “I know you ain’t rollin’ your eyes at me. I think you mad because you can’t control these boys no more, they got wives, girlfriends, and are on the way to building their own families, Leave them boys alone!” Joe’s mom exclaimed as Trin shoots her a smile.
“In other words, let these grown ass men live, and pop your titty outta they mouth, my mom says adding fuel to the fire as the commotion continued throughout dinner. "Just tryin' to take my babies from me, all ya'll. Wrestlers, nurses, production directors, don't know nothing about being wives and mothers," Jey's mom says as Trin shoots her a look “Sandra! I’ve heard enough, no more wine tonight. Now leave it be, if they happy let it be,” papa Kishi said as Jey looks at his dad in shock.
“We’re about to have our second grandchild that I can’t wait to spoil, and you know you will too. That’s if Shantell will even let us near the little one with the way you cuttin' the damn fool’. “Don’t speak to me that way,” she says in shock that her husband is correcting her.
“I did and I will, the Taraji situation was a huge blow, we almost lost our son. Now! I’m putting my foot down, leave Shantell and all the girls alone for that matter and eat your food. They all are doing great things and making this family proud. Now dats all I want to hear of it," he says leaving no room for argument as she began eating her food sobering up quickly. If the next seven months is anything like this, I'm not ready...Not ready at all.

CH 1
1992
I stepped out of the car, the moving van pulling up behind it. Florida all the way across the country. I didn’t know what to feel, it was pretty so far but I was kinda scared it was different and I didn’t know anyone. I saw my mom talking to someone and walked up to her. She paused looking down at me a smile gracing her face.
“This is Natasha, Sweetheart this is Ms Lisa” I waved she seemed really nice.
“Hi.” I said shyly. A little boy ran up a large smile on his face as he stopped looking at me.
Tumblr media
“Hi I’m Joe.”
“Hi,”
“What’s your name?”
“Natasha.”
“Wanna play?”
“Um sure ok.”
“Cool come on.” I followed him not knowing I’d be doing it forever or that I’d met my best friend.
3 Weeks Later
I was playing with Joe, we’d played every day since I’d moved in. It was summer so he was really the only person I knew right now, but I was ok with that he was really fun to be around
“Hey do you wanna go to my cousins with me I’m sure no one will care.” He said goosing the ball
“Are you sure?”
“Yeah why not we’re going to be in school together they’re my best friends kinda like you. They’re twins.”
“Ok.”
“Joe are are ready to go? Hello Natasha.”
“Hello Ms Lisa.”.
“Mom can Natasha come.”
“If her mom there is ok with that I’m sure it’s fine.”
Getting to his cousins I followed Joe as he walked in and I already saw him talking to two boys
“These are my cousins, guys this is Natasha and this is Jon.”
“Hi.”
“Hi I’m Josh.”
Fatu twins and Anoai. I’d been friends with them since day 1 and when that used to be how they were called or triple threat. The four musketeers My best friends, my life. I was so grateful for them, they’d had my back since I moved here and I know my life wouldn’t be the same without them hell I don’t think the move or my life would be as amazing had I not met them
I’d met Joe at 6 when my family moved to Pensacola and we became next door neighbors. My father was in the Navy, I had been born in San Diego California spending the first 6 years of my life in Miramar California since my father was stationed there. TOPGUN I’m sure you’ve heard of it and it’s a real place it’s not there anymore it was moved to Nevada but back then it was also at that base. When I was 6 my father got a promotion and we moved all the way to Florida. They’d found a nice little home off base and that’s where I met Joe; He’s been my best friend since, and within weeks I was friends with his cousins Jon and Josh, those three have been inseparable their entire lives and Joe is just an extra brother instead of a cousin. Always hanging out, playing sports, watching wrestling every week, always together. I spent the summer playing with them and once school started I met more people but no one was ever like us four. We all went to school together our whole lives minus Joe's freshman year where he was at some private catholic school until he got Ms Lisa to switch him to Escambia where the twins and I were. All my classes was always with at least one of them, even though they were a year older I was smart and was skipped a grade so since I’d known them we were together. So much so that rumors always flew as we grew that it was more or like in late middle and through high school I was sleeping with all of them. My ego loves that because they were all fine as hell but was so far from the truth, for the most part. I had lost my virginity to Joe when I was 14 and he had just recently turned 16. His birthday was in May and mine was in August like the twins. Yeah we thought the other attractive but it was mostly a I feel comfortable with you do this, we always knew we were better friends and this never changed our relationship but come that Christmas season we’d both learn that someone was seeing me as more than a best friend and had for a couple years.
When we turned 12 I went from Nat to Snickers. At first I hated it but now I’m used to it. It stuck and everyone ended up calling me it. My best friends had called me it once it was clear puberty had it and it hit hard. One day I was the normal tomboyish girl not really anything and the next morning I had boobs, curves and a ass. I remember waking up freaking out crying and putting clothes on that didn’t fit me before I jumped out of my bedroom window and walking the two feet knocking on my best friends a blanket around me. He opened the window looking at me like I was crazy.
“You sick of something Nat?”
“Can I borrow some clothes?”
“Um yeah, why you have tons.” I sighed opening my blanket as his jaw dropped.
“Yeah and they don’t fit help me.” My shirt that used to be normal was to the middle of my stomach not being able to fit over my boobs and my shorts were way to small
“Holy shit.”
“Joe!”
“I um yeah come in.” He grabbed a big shirt and some basketball shorts handing me them and I quickly went to put them on. I went shopping with my mom getting all new clothes and the twins when they saw me freaked just like Joe.
“What the hell where did all that come from?”
“Where’s Natasha and what did you do?”
“Shut up.” I said embarrassed “everyone at school is gonna be saying shit.”
“And we’ll fight them. But for real you look thicker than a snicker got damn.”
“Jonathan.” I wined
“I mean Nat you woke up like that.” Joe said pointing at me.
“Yo most girls would kill for that like damn you got thick.” Josh muttered. “Lemme touch it.” I glared at him but inside something cluttered in my stomach
“Snickers.”
“What about them.”
“Nah that’s you.”
“Yeah all that booty thicker than a snicker.”
“Our snickers.”
“I hate all three of you.”
“No you don’t.” They responded and after that the name stuck
I walked into Joes room tossing my backpack. He chuckled knowing I wasn’t very happy.
“You ok Snickers?”
“Kinda.”
“Wanna talk about it.”
“I’m tired of being a virgin.”
“Oh. Well I mean we’re 15 we’ll you about to be I just turned 16 and I didn’t know you-“
“Bullshit you're my best friend you know I am when the hell have you seen me with a guy let alone you guys won’t let one near me.”
“Cause we hear how they talk about you we ain’t letting some asshole just date you to hit it and tell everyone. They care about all that.” He said pointing at me “and not this.” He said poking a finger into my chest where my heart was
“Will you.”
“Will I what?” He asked looking up from his game
“Take it.”
“Take what?”
“Joe really, ugh this is already weird, take my virginity.” He dropped the controller looking at me like I was crazy.
“What!?”
“Your my best friend why not.”
“Why me why not one of the twins?” He asked confused and it made me nervous maybe I shouldn’t have asked but I couldn’t ask the twins Jon plays to much and Josh, I couldn’t ask Josh even if I wanted too.
“I’m closer to you and Jon plays too much I’ll hear about this the rest of my life if I asked him and you know it and I can’t ask Josh. Joe I only trust you guys, please.”
“Why can’t you ask Josh?”
“I can’t.”
“Snickers.” He said making me look at him. “Oh shit do you like him, like like him like him.”
“Joe.” I whined blushing.
“Oh my god how did I not know and since when.””
“If you tell him I’ll slit your fucking throat.”
“I won’t but you like him.”
“Ugh yeah ok I like Josh”
“Since when?”
“A little while. So I can’t ask him.”
“Why not like wouldn’t that make you wanna ask him more.”
“No because what if he says no or is weird or it changes shit and if he says no it’ll bother me and I don’t wanna catch more feelings if I sleep with him Joe it’ll probably make me like him more and I can’t do that.”
“You sure about this?”
“I’d rather it be someone I trust and am comfortable with and your my best friend.”
“Ok.” I looked up at him shocked he’d said ok he got up as I looked at him.
“Where-“
“I’m not doing this and taking a chance of having a baby we’re kids we don’t need that I’m sure there’s a condom in this house.” Five minutes later he was back and locked his door holding up a foil pack. “Told ya.”
“Shut up.”
“You sure about this Snickers like once we do this you can’t take it back.”
“I’m not stupid I know that.”
“Look of you want I’ll see where uces heads at if he likes you too, then you can ask him.”
“No, cause then if he does I don’t wanna be clueless.”
“ like he’d care like that Snick you got as hell besides I think he’s a virgin too.”
“Joe”
“I’m just making sure, like this is a big step.”
“I’m a big girl.”.Joe gently touched my face lowering his lips to mine as he kissed me. It felt good but also felt weird. Slowly I got into it and we ended up on his bed. I moaned when he kissed around on my neck and he pulled back
“You ok?”
“Um yeah that, that felt good.” He nodded doing it again. We made out a while his hand sliding up my shirt. We slowly undressed as Joe would ask if I was ok or sure.
“Natasha.” I looked at him as he looked down my eyes following his before looking at him. Joe was handsome as hell they all were. “You sure about this?”
“Yes.”
“Tell me if I hurt you.” He kissed me slowly moving as I gasped it felt weird and kinda hurt but also felt good. “You good?” I nodded as he slid all the way as I winced in discomfort. “I’m sorry.”
“You’re good, move.” I replied touching his face.
Most girls I’d heard those first time wasn’t the best and it hurt and while yeah it hurt a little when Joe first started it wasn’t bad. It was different.”
“Wow.”
“What?” I asked.
“You, that,.”
“Joe.”
“What Snickers, ya can’t get shy now not after that.”
“I’m not your just funny.”
“You sure your ok?”
“Yeah Joe you didn’t really hurt me, I mean you got a big dick at least I’m assuming and it hurt a few seconds when you first started but no you didn’t hurt me.”
“Get up I need to change the sheets.”
“Um ok.”
“Snickers you bled a little that’s why I was so scared I hurt you.”
“Joe.” I said touching his face. “You didn’t hurt me, I don’t think you ever will Your my best friend and thank you.”
“Always, I always got you Snickers. One day we’ll make sure you never want for nothin.”
“I know you guys say that all the time.”
“Because it’s true we don’t care where you go what you do who you end up with we got you.”
“I know bear I love you guys too.”
“By the way you really are perfect.”
“Joe.”
“You are,”
JON POV
I looked at my twin like he was crazy, I kno he ain’t really just say that. No Fuckin way
“Snickers?” I asked as he nodded “Snickers our snickers? Natasha? Natasha Aiyana Smith?”
“Yes Jon, damn! Who the hell else you think I’d be talkin bout.”
“Not Natasha not our Snickers that’s for sure.” I replied. I was shocked he liked her like for real for real. “You do know Joe hooked up with her right uce?” He immediately got pissed. Face red and all but as my brother my twin I couldn’t not tell him.
“I hooked up with who?” Joe asked coming in with his bag, staying with us and thank god Snickers wasn’t with him.
“What!?” Josh said glaring out our cousin, and tossing his water. “Always.”
“Dang what I do?” He asked
“You hooked up with Natasha!”
“Um yeah like 6 months ago, she wanted me to take her virginity wanted it to be someone special that she trusted and said those options were me or one of you two.”
“Well uce, uce likes her?”
“What?” Joe asked looking at my twin who was pissed. “Since when?”
“For a while, damn why ain’t she come to me?”
“Because y’all joke too much and she quote loves Jon but ain’t trying to hear his mouth cause he’d never shut up and she didn’t wanna ask you cause she has a Fuckin crush on you and ain’t wanna be weird. Besides she’s known me longer and better she’s legit next door.”
“So y’all like dating?”
“No.” He laughed “that’s like my fucking sister.” He looked at Josh before speaking “why ain’t you say anything no one had a clue and I know she don’t. Otherwise I know she’s had asked you shit I even tried talk her into tellin you.”
“I ain’t think she’d like me like that shit uce we grew up together and now I can’t.”
“Why? She thinks we cute you know that so she probably do like you.”
“Well she ain’t gonna do anything now if she did you done hooked up with her.”
“So what we ain’t dating it didn’t work we work better as friends.if you had said something you’d have taken her virginity dumbass cause when she came to me I found out she likes you that’s why she wouldn’t ask you, she didn’t want you saying no and it being weird and she ain’t wanna catch feelings.”
“But you know Tash man hell people been sayin she fucking all us what she gonna hook up with me and then really feel that way uce. You know her she ain’t about to be what everyone says. Snickers ain’t-“
“Tell her or I will.” Joe said.
“Why she-“
“Do it Josh, trust me. She been feelin you uce.”

I want very badly to bake something sweet. I love baked goods so much, but I rarely bake because it takes a lot of planning to have the ingredients on hand, and then also I have to find time to do it. Usually it involves a stand mixer. I have a nice one (a Kitchenaid) but it lives in the basement and is heavy to bring upstairs and because I so rarely use it I have to wash the bowl and attachments first. My grandmother's stand mixer had a permanent place on her counter, and I will get there one day, but not in this house.
Anyway, I think of myself as someone who fails at baking more often than succeeds. That's another reason I don't bake often, because it's so disappointing to spend so much time and effort on something that doesn't turn out or is (even worse) mediocre.
But, in all fairness to me, there do seem to be times when I'm very, very good at making sweets, and usually that's when I come into a bounty of fresh local fruit and I have a crowd to bake for. The year we moved from Montgomery to Omaha (so five summers ago), we took my big kid to pick peaches and blueberries, and I made blueberry muffins, Edna Lewis's peach cobbler (best I have EVER tasted, and I've had a lot of peach cobbler), blueberry bars, and blueberry compote to eat with sliced pork loin. Two springs ago, I was in Pensacola for spring break, and we bought a flat of local strawberries. I made at least two strawberry icebox pies, strawberry muffins, and strawberry shortcake. I made a blueberry cobbler for my family when they were visiting last summer that everyone (including me! and I'm a tough critic of my own food) loved. I am desperate for a simple lemon loaf cake recipe that is easy to make, moist, and delicious. I would similarly love to once in my life make good lemon bars. If those bars also had another fruit like raspberry or blueberry I would die and go to (secular) heaven. Lately, I have been craving banana pudding, the icebox kind. Similarly, simple vanilla pound cake or iced chocolate sheet cake made by somebody's grandmother are also god-tier foods.
Other sweet things I love that I have no interest in making are fruit tarts, almond croissants, pastries of all kinds really, homemade-style cakes with real buttercream frosting (get outta here with grocery store cakes; yuck!), coffee cakes, and donuts. Sweet rolls that use yeast. Oh I would love, love, love some fresh orange rolls.
Eventually I'm going to have to learn how to use yeast without completely freaking out about it, or else I might never taste a delicious sticky sweet orange roll again.
All this ruminating is brought to you by a desperate craving I have for something sweet but no clue what to bake, plus little desire to put in the effort and time.
I don't use Tumblr collaboratively very much anymore, but if you've read this far and you have an easy (easy being key) and beloved dessert, I would love it if you left a link to the recipe in the comments.

Exploring the Techniques and Tools of Professional Video Production
Tumblr media
In today's visual world, making videos has become crucial for digital communication. Whether it's showcasing the beautiful beaches of Pensacola or the lively streets of Mobile, AL, video production is an art that captures moments, places, and stories. It blends technology, creativity, and storytelling to create content that connects with people. Whether it's for business in Mobile, AL, or showcasing the beauty of Pensacola, the methods and tools used in professional video production are essential for making standout videos. Explore the world of Video Production in Mobile AL, and beyond to discover the impact it has on visual storytelling.
Crafting a Visual Narrative
The heart of video production is storytelling. It's not just about capturing images but weaving them together to tell a cohesive story. Whether showcasing the vibrant life of Mobile, AL, or the laid-back vibes of Pensacola, the narrative drives the production, dictating the flow and feel of the final video. Professional videographers use scripts, storyboards, and shot lists to map out their vision, ensuring that the story they're telling is clear, engaging, and impactful.
Harnessing Cutting-Edge Technology
Having the correct gear is essential for professional video production. Modern cameras with high image quality, stabilizing equipment, and drones have transformed how videographers record videos. In places like Mobile, AL, known for its bustling activity or the expansive landscapes of Pensacola, these tools enable creators to make high-quality videos that used to be possible only for big studios. With the right equipment, anyone can create stunning videos in these locations and beyond.
Lighting and Composition: The Pillars of Quality
Good lighting and composition are the foundations of quality in video production. They have the power to turn an ordinary scene into a captivating visual experience, no matter where you are. Whether it's lighting up a subject in a Mobile, AL studio or harnessing the natural beauty of a Pensacola sunset, professionals use lighting to create the right atmosphere and draw the viewer's focus. Composition is another key element that directs the viewer's gaze, ensuring balance and interest in every frame of Video Production in Pensacola and beyond.
Post-Production Mastery
After capturing all the video footage, the next step is to put it together in a way that tells a great story. Skilled editors in Mobile, AL, Pensacola, or elsewhere go through the footage carefully. They pick out the best parts and use computer software to cut and arrange them in the right order. They also make sure the colors look good and the video is smooth. This part of video production takes a lot of skill and patience to make the final video look great and tell the story effectively.
To Conclude Professional video production is a complex dance of creativity and technical expertise. It's about more than just pointing a camera and shooting; it's about creating a narrative that engages and inspires. In places like Mobile, AL, and Pensacola, videographers, including Pelican Drones, are capturing stories in every frame, with every cut, and in every note of the soundtrack. The nuances of professional video production weave together to create a final piece that is seamless, beautiful, and memorable.

Location, Location, Location: How to Decide Which Area Is Best for Your Needs
Buying a home is a big decision, especially when moving to a new city. There are many factors to consider when deciding which area is best for your needs to make your next Florida move much more manageable. You’ll think of every possibility before searching the market for your next dream home.
1. Consider Your Family
Anyone moving with kids should consider what their potential new city has to offer for their family. Your children will need a well-funded school district with a highly rated educational system, community clubs and kids their age in the area. Population statistics and school district rankings will be crucial when deciding which place in Florida is best for your family’s needs.
Most popular cities: St. Augustine, Sarasota, Fort Walton Beach
2. Picture Your Retirement Plans
Many people dream of moving to Florida when retirement approaches. The pleasant weather and statistically low property taxes make it an ideal location. If you want to retire in Florida, consider which hobbies or community activities you’ll want to do in addition to your preferred house size.
Most popular cities: Pensacola, Tampa, Naples
3. Decide if You’ll Vacation There
You might also look into Florida houses if you want to own a vacation home in the state. There are many places to consider, so think about what you look forward to on vacation. You could want a beachfront property, a city with nightlife or numerous golf courses nearby.
It’s also essential to figure out how you’ll get around town while you’re vacationing. Cities with public transportation reduce your monthly spending on gas and car insurance. However, many residents of smaller Florida cities get around on golf carts. The best choice depends on your preferred mode of transportation and spending abilities.
Most popular cities: Orlando, Miami, Tampa
4. Look Into Renting Options
People are always looking to rent a home while vacationing in Florida. You could become the next property owner to provide that for them. Consider if you’d like to buy a house and rent it to tourists. You’d want to seek a popular destination and find a property with competitive amenities.
There’s also the option to buy and renovate a house to make it more appealing to vacationers. You could remodel your kitchen to include modern luxury features like matte black cabinets or a smart fridge. Installing a pool would also make your property more competitive in the hot-weather state. Think about how much you can invest in a rental property before making any final decisions.
Most popular cities: Orlando, Tampa, Jacksonville
5. Imagine How Long You’ll Stay
The average American homeowner keeps their home for 16 years, but you might not see yourself living in your new home that long. You might move out if your kids go to college or if you plan to travel through retirement.
Determine how long you’ll stay in the area to find a place with the activities and amenities that make you feel at home. You can also look into the residential age ranges in each city to ensure you’ll find friends.
Most popular cities: Sarasota, Fort Myers, Port St. Lucie
Find the Best Area for Your Needs
After considering the essential factors of your ideal Florida property, make a pros and cons list. You can research each potential new city or county and track what you love about each one. The right place for your next home will become apparent quickly because you’ve thought about everything you’ll need.

Manchester orchestra simple math music video update#
Manchester orchestra simple math music video full#
He sings, "Dear everyone I ever really knew, I acted like an asshole so I could keep my edge on you. It's clear from the melancholy lead-off track, "Deer," that Hull is angry, depressed, and regretful over most everything in his life. Which, essentially, consists of the time Hull - in his twenties as the time of release - has spent with his band, which he started in high school.
Manchester orchestra simple math music video update#
At which point I’ll have to come back and update this list and make some tough decisions about what gets cut.Manchester Orchestra's 2011 effort Simple Math is an epic, would-be concept album revolving around lead singer/songwriter Andy Hull's life to date. They really broke through to the next level with A Black Mile To The Surface, and since that record dropped over three years ago now it’s safe to assume that we’ll be hearing new music from them in the not-so-distant future. This is likely the direction that Manchester Orchestra will continue to head as their career continues to expand.
Manchester orchestra simple math music video full#
This person is presumably the same person from “The Alien”, which brings the sequence full circle in a darkly poetic way. Then, it transitions into the short, upbeat and bright “The Sunshine” before breaking down into the heavier “The Grocery”, which talks about somebody who walks into a grocery store and guns the whole place down. “The Alien” starts out slow and atmospheric and lyrically talks about somebody who feels like an outsider in the world, who is feeling suicidal and decides to leave his family behind. Manchester Orchestra also happens to play “The Alien”, “The Sunshine”, and “The Grocery” live in sequence as well, and they really play up those transitions in the live setting. We’re not quite talking Grateful Dead-level transitions here, but the combination in the middle of the album of these three songs is pretty dang close, and they are certainly best listened to as if they were one long song. The album’s strength is well-rounded, but what really brings it to the next level and gives it such appeal are the transitions between songs. “Pensacola” ( Simple Math, 2011)įor the number one slot in our list of the best Manchester Orchestra songs, I decided to make an exception and actually highlight the three song sequence of “The Alien”, “The Sunshine”, and “The Grocery” off their most recent LP A Black Mile To The Surface. Check out our list of the 10 best Manchester Orchestra songs below. Manchester Orchestra have a lot of great songs, but we’ve narrowed it down to 10 that we think are the best, with an exception that you’ll find out about later. Andy Hull and crew participate in a number of side projects, including Bad Books with Kevin Devine and Andy’s solo project Right Away, Great Captain!. They’ve got their own label, Favorite Gentlemen Records, which includes a roster of bands in their circle, including All Get Out and more. Nowadays Manchester Orchestra are becoming a much larger entity than just one band. A Black Mile To The Surface even had a radio hit in lead single “The Gold”, which reached Number 1 on Billboard’s Adult Alternative chart. 2011’s Simple Math was their first album that really nailed that balance and the production is immaculate, and thus they took off a bit. Manchester Orchestra’s first two albums, 2007’s I’m Like A Virgin Losing A Child and 2009’s Mean Everything To Nothing remain staples in their catalogue, yet their sound has evolved so much over the years in a way that incorporates the heavier, more punk influenced elements on those two albums in a very melodic, thoughtful way. We all know how rare it is for a band to actually get better with age, but Manchester Orchestra have managed to do it thus far, with the possible exception of 2013’s Cope, which is a decent album but probably their worst overall, and not necessarily for the songs but for the production and the arrangement. Each of their albums have been noteworthy in their own right, but A Black Mile To The Surface is considered by many fans to be the be the band’s best album, myself included. Over the years their music has improved in production value and become a bit more experimental, slower and more deliberate.īy now Manchester Orchestra have released six studio albums, the most recent being the acclaimed 2017 release, A Black Mile To The Surface. With Andy Hull’s delicate, emotionally honest songwriting at the helm, they found their way out of their unlikely hometown of Atlanta with gritty rock music on the heavier end of the spectrum, that also wasn’t afraid to get slow and heart-wrenching at times. Manchester Orchestra formed in 2004, right in the midst of the big pop-punk and emo push of the 2000s.

I’m turning 40 at the end of the month, so I just spent a half hour writing out a list of everything I’ve done in the past ten years. They have been years of extreme highs and lows. Everything significant I’ve accomplished artistically (so far) happened in my 30s. I’ve been extremely fortunate and have also had a lot of bad luck. I’ve worked hard to achieve a lot of my goals even under the most chaotic and upsetting conditions. Here’s a basic highlight reel:
I entered my 30s in a fog of postpartum depression and spent much of the first year and a half single-parenting our baby while Dominic was gone on deployments and work training trips.
I bought another house (Dominic really managed this, but my name’s on the mortgage, so it counts).
I ran three half-marathons.
I lived in Omaha, Pensacola, Colorado Springs, Montgomery, and then in Omaha again.
I did adjunct work at two different colleges and writing center work at another college.
I started writing and publishing poetry again. All in all, I’ve published 70 poems in various literary journals over the past ten years.
I travelled to Mexico, Spain, Roatan, Belize, Portland, Tampa, San Antonio, New Orleans, Vermont, Boston, New York City, Cape Cod, and honestly several other places.
I euthanized one cat and adopted another.
I survived the first year after our kid was diagnosed with ADHD and autism. I learned how to be a better parent to him. Together with my spouse, various therapists, and teachers, we’ve worked with him on communication, impulse control, and managing his emotions. At ten he’s in such a better place than he was when he was diagnosed at six, but it’s a journey, and there are lots of ups and downs.
Speaking of ups and downs, we all survived a big regression my kid had at the beginning of the pandemic. It was scary and sad, but we made it through.
Also, ugh the pandemic the pandemic the pandemic.
I won a poetry prize through my press and published my first book of poems. I won a poetry prize through a literary journal. I won a poetry prize through my graduate department. One of my poems was anthologized in the 2019 Best American Nonrequired Reading.
I was awarded funding to attend the Sewanee Writers’ Conference and the Vermont Studio Center.
I started doing editing work for the literary journal I volunteer for.
I attended three AWP conferences.
I was accepted to a PhD program in Creative Writing after applying to it three times over the course of about ten years.
My IUD failed and I got pregnant. That pregnancy ended tragically, just three weeks short of viability.
I’ve done a lot of therapy the past two years.
I did life drawing sessions briefly but regularly just before the pandemic hit.
I met so many people, mostly other poets and writers and artists. Before the pandemic, I felt happy with my social life. Now, I feel isolated and sad and lonely, but I’m hopeful that eventually I’ll find more equilibrium.
I twirled batons twice as a Leijorette in Chewbacchus, which is a Mardi Gras parade.
I finished the coursework portion of my PhD program. I mostly excelled as both a student and a teacher even though each semester brought a new crisis and unimaginable difficulty.
I have grown creatively and empathetically. I still like to run and draw and write. I still haven’t had much of any kind of professional career, though I’m trying to establish the beginning of one through this PhD. I’m not the best spouse, but I’m a good spouse to Dominic (most times.) I’m not the best mom, but I’m a good mom to my kid (most times.) I’m not the best poet, but I work hard and write and publish good poems sometimes. I’m lucky to have the life I have; I’m also frustrated by how difficult my life has been at times during these past ten years. I’ve navigated a lot of hard stuff, but I’m still here, about to enter the next decade.
