В КНР сезон дождей наступит не раньше мая, но представители Bimain уже заключают сделки с местными майнинг-фермами о сотрудничестве. Стоит отметить, что китайский гигант через свои пулы все еще более чем на 74% контролирует хешрейт сети биткоина. Самые крупные майнинг-пулы компании Antpool и BTC.com держат под контролем 13,9% и 21,3% хешрейта сети монеты соответственно. Với những lời đồn đại, tranh cãi và ồn ào xung quanh việc IPO sắp tới, công ty chip đào coin Trung Quốc – Bitmain bắt đầu nhận được nhiều sự quan tâm từ vài tháng trở lại đây.

Jihan Wu, đồng sáng lập kiêm CEO công ty nhận được sự chú ý của báo giới nhiều nhất, phần lớn là bởi Wu thường xuyên xuất hiện trên mạng xã hội trực tuyến.

Trong khi đó, Micree Zhan – một đồng sáng lập kiêm CEO khác của Bimain lại ít được chú ý hơn dù thực tế, anh ấy sở hữu nhiều cổ phần tại Bitmain hơn là Wu. Theo tài liệu rò rỉ trước khi IPO, Zhan được xem là “bộ óc kỹ thuật” của Bimain và sở hữu 36,58% cổ phần công ty trong khi đó con số tương tự của Wu chỉ là 20,5%.

Công ty có trụ sở tại Bắc Kinh với tự tin sẽ đạt giá trị khoảng $14 tỷ khi chào bán cổ phần ra công chúng theo tài liệu trước thềm IPO. Điều này có nghĩa là lúc đó số cổ phần mà Zhan nắm giữ trị giá ít nhất $5,1 tỷ và của Wu là $2,9 tỷ.

Tuy nhiên nhận định của tờ Forbes không được khả quan như vậy. Sau khi trò chuyện với một vài chuyên gia phân tích, tờ báo này dự đoán rằng khối tài sản của Zhan chỉ ở quanh mức $4 tỷ còn của Wu là $2,3 tỷ. Forbes định giá Bitmain dựa trên Chỉ số giá trên doanh thu (price to sales) nhằm đánh giá giá trị cổ phiếu hiện hành so với quá khứ, so với các doanh nghiệp khác trong cùng ngành bao gồm Nvidia, AMD, Qualcomm, Mediatek và Cisco.

Tuy nhiên, điều quan trọng cần phải nhớ là không công ty nào có thể so sánh trực tiếp, có cùng bản chất tự nhiên với Bitmain. Chính vì vậy tờ Forbes lựa chọn những công ty kể trên chỉ bởi họ cũng là nhà sản xuất chip, các công ty thiết kế và bán chip, phần cứng nhưng là thuê ngoài cho các nhà sản xuất khác.

Bitmain không phải là một công ty sản xuất chất bán dẫn đơn thuần; phần lớn doanh thu của họ có từ các mining pool như BTC.com và Antpool. Và với những biến động gần đây của ngành công nghiệp tiền mã hóa, việc ứng dụng những loại chip đào coin này là không chắc chắn.

Mặc dù là bộ óc công nghệ đằng sau Bitmain nhưng có rất ít thông tin về Zhan. Thậm chí hồ sơ trên LinkedIn của anh này cũng rất ít thông tin, chỉ có duy nhất chức danh “CEO của Bitmain” mà không đề cập tới trình độ học vấn cũng như quá trình công tác trước đó.

Nhưng, tờ Forbes đã tìm hiểu được một vài điểm

Sau khi tốt nghiệp Đại học Shandong với bằng kỹ sư điện tử vào năm 2001, Zhan nhận bằng thạc sỹ trong lĩnh vực kỹ thuật tại Học viện khoa học Trung Quốc vào năm 2004. Anh làm việc tại Đại học Tsinghua với chức danh kỹ sư phát triển và nghiên cứu tại Viện nghiên cứu công nghệ thông tin.

Năm 2006, anh bắt đầu công việc mới tại Unitend Technologies trên cương vị Chủ tịch phòng nghiên cứu và phát triển, quản lý phòng mạch điện tích hợp.

Tại Unitend, Zhan chịu trách nhiệm về thiết kế và phát triển các loại chip đặc biệt cho tivi kỹ thuật số; số lượng sản phẩm được xuất xưởng vượt mốc 1 triệu chiếc trong khoảng thời gian Zhan làm việc tại đây.

Anh cũng xuất bản nhiều bài báo và bằng sáng chế về chip và viết ra được tiêu chuẩn quốc gia về giao diện giao thông toàn cầu – một thuật toán sử dụng trên các thiết bị tivi kỹ thuật số.

Trong năm 2010, Zhan thành lập nên DivaIP Technologies tại Bắc Kinh nhằm phát triển TV box. Anh gặp Wu tình cờ vào một ngày đang đi chào hàng trên đường phố Bắc Kinh và Zhan tìm lời khuyên từ Wu về vấn đề gây vốn.

Mặc dù Wu không thể giúp Zhan nhiều nhưng cả 2 gặp lại sau 3 năm.

Wu tốt nghiệp Đại học Peking vào năm 2009 với tấm bằng kinh tế. Theo hồ sơ trên LinkedIn, anh làm việc về quản lý đầu tư tại công ty quỹ tư nhân China Grand Prosperity Investment từ năm 2010 – 2013 trước khi đồng sáng lập nên Bitmain. Là đồng sáng lập của 8BTC – diễn đàn bitcoin tại Trung Quốc được ra mắt vào năm 2011, Wu là người đầu tiên dịch bài viết “Bitcoin whitepaper” từ tiếng Nhật nhằm giải thích những vấn đề của bitcoin thành tiếng Trung Quốc. Năm 2016, anh cũng gây chú ý khi công khai phản đối những lời chỉ trích sự ủng hộ của anh đối với Bitcoin Cash.

Năm 2013, Wu bàn với Zhan về việc cùng thành lập nên Bitmain. Wu nhận thấy kinh nghệm của Zhan trong việc thiết kế chip để phát triển máy đào coin. Đào bitcoin và một số loại tiền số khác yêu cầu nguồn lực lớn để giải quyết những vấn đề về toán học phức tạp sẽ xác định các giao dịch trên blockchain.

Buổi sáng sau khi gặp gỡ, Zhan đã giành 2 giờ dồng hồ để tìm hiểu trên wiki về bitcoin và ngay sau đó anh đồng ý tham gia vào thương vụ.

4 năm sau vào năm 2017, Bitmain mang về doanh thu $2,5 tỷ từ việc bán các thiết bị đào coin. Quý đầu tiên của năm 2018, Bitmain đạt doanh thu $1,9 tỷ. Công ty kỳ vọng sẽ hoàn tất thương vụ IPO tại Hong Kong trước cuối năm nay.

Điều này là bước ngoặt không chỉ đối với Bitmain mà còn với cả cộng đồng tiền mã hóa. Ngành công nghiệp này đang chìm lắng sau những biến động giá kể từ cuối năm 2017.
