faster than one realizes, another year is over and in the course of this day, we say goodbye to 2023.

STARRY NIGHT.  ❝ i don't know anything with certainty but that the sight of the stars makes me dream. ❞ although vincent van gogh is now known and loved by countless people, he didn't have an ounce of fame while he was alive. starry night is one of the most famous paintings ever, but at the time, van gogh called it a failure. in the same way, you have no concept of just how loved you truly are. you're good at looking out for others, and you have a vibe that draws people to you. you are a wonderful addition to this little world, and you don't even see it. but i hope you do someday. some of your traits are: creative, insecure, and romantic.

He has to be in control. To suppress so much, lest he become overwhelmed by it all. And Tatia is pushing him for more, but can he even give that?

   He was getting a little tired of friends of the Cullens. It was bad enough having them back in town to begin with, but the more that they hung around, the more they seemed to attract trouble of their own -- especially where Bella was involved. He wasn’t concerned -- the Quileute pack could more than handle themselves against whatever storm rolled in off the horizon, and there was a certain dark eagerness in him to meet danger head on and use all that his wolf form was capable of. That current of graceful violence that was older than himself. But where the Cullens were concerned, he was playing nice, upholding the treaty as he always would -- until they broke it, at least. Besides, they were about to face bigger dangers than the local coven and begrudgingly he knew that another vampire on their side could only help their odds.

   Hopefully Carlisle was right that they could trust her.

   "What are you, back up?” Sarcasm oozing with a snort from the back of his throat. There was a sly little smirk as dark eyes appraised her -- appearances deceived when it came to vampires, but it was still rather fun to taunt them a little.

A long sigh drew from the redhead brims as cobalt hues stared down at the body from where she was kneeling on the floor. Maimed to a horrified extend, this once person looked barely human and if herself and Tatia didn’t already know that the person they were supposed to meet up with was years now retired archaeologist then she was confident she was speaking out of the both of them, that none would have guessed it was him. The puddle of blood now dried on the floor had soaked in his clothes and the wooden floor-boards, causing them to twist and creak from underneath her as the young slayer stood up to her feet. 

The room around them didn’t differ either. With the library now trashed, the books laid open with most of their pages torn and the office showed clear signs of having been thoroughly searched before it was broken down in half. If the object their killer had so desire happened to be in this same space then Jo imagined that they had already found it by now ― or, like a part of her liked to hope, the item had been hidden so well that locating it was impossible. It could have been the reason why the room was so tragically messed up; she pictured it was a lovely space before it was so brutally maimed, just like its owner.

❛  Yep, he’s dead alright. ❜  If the vampire couldn’t tell by the looks of it, then she could definitely smell it. The stench of blood was everywhere, to the point where even her half-breed sense of smell could pick it up. ❛  He couldn’t have died at a worse time ! Whoever did this clearly knew exactly what they were doing. Now our only lead is dead. Great. ❜
