Stubbornly Sick
Summary: Violet, Prisha and Allison all wake up sick but none of them are willing to rest and are too stubborn to admit they are sick.
Word Count: 1415
Read on AO3:
Violet could feel her head spinning. Her nose felt stuffy and her limbs were sore. She was definitely dealing with a bad cold. Violet stared blankly up at the ceiling. It was a good thing she didn’t have work today. Still, she didn’t want this to ruin her day. Shifting around, Violet untangled herself from Prisha’s arms and tried to sit up. That only made her head feel worse but Violet got up regardless. The blonde had successfully made it all of five feet before she leaned on the wall and slid down onto the floor.
“Violet,” Prisha’s voice sounded rough. She struggled to get up and look over at her wife. Prisha looked absolutely awful. Her face was covered in sweat; wisps of her hair curled and stuck to her face. “Are you not feeling well?” Prisha definitely had a sore throat.
“I’m fine, just a bit sore.” Violet waved a hand dismissively and tried to rise up to her feet. She struggled for a few seconds then stared off blankly into space while she rested her head on the wall.
“You should lie down and I’ll make you some soup,” Prisha tried to get out of bed but just pulling back the bedsheets felt incredibly draining.
“Neither of you should be out of bed,” Allison’s voice appeared at the doorway. Prisha and Violet looked over at their daughter. Her nose was runny and her eyes looked red and irritated.
“Shit, you’re sick too,” Violet slowly moved forward and swayed this way and that.
“Get back in bed. I’m fine,” Allison sniffled loudly and nearly fell over.
“Alright, that's it. I’m going to make you two some soup,” Prisha’s voice gave out near the end of that sentence.
“Gonna make us some sue?” Violet looked confused as she walked forward and sat down on the bed for a quick breather.
“Soup. I said soup,” Prisha laid her head on the pillow for a second to regain all her energy.
“You two can’t even get up again. I’ll just go get Sir Tubbs.” Allison summoned up all her energy and successfully lifted her head off the doorframe.
“You will lie down and rest. I’m fine. See!” Prisha declared loudly and Violet and Allison looked at her with confusion.
“What the fuck are we supposed to be seeing right now?” Allison glanced at Prisha who seemed surprised by her wife and daughter’s lack of awe at her skills.
“I got up and did jumping jacks. Did I not do that?” Prisha looked at Violet and Allison.
“You didn’t move at all, Prish,” Violet’s words made her wife’s eyes grow large with disbelief.
“I thought-” Prisha paused before sneezing and falling backwards onto the bed.
“I’ll grab the tissues and more blankets,” Violet rose up and slowly made her way towards the living room where the blankets were kept.
“Stop that,” Prisha tried to reach out to her wife who was already too far away. “I’ll make some soup and then on my way back I'll wrap you both in blankets,” Prisha struggled to her feet and wandered towards the kitchen. Allison was already scanning the apartment in a haze for Sir Tubbs to cuddle with her moms and help them feel better.
“Sir Tubbs, get your fat ass out here,” Allison sniffled loudly and continued looking for the cat.
All three of them were determined to help the other two and too stubborn to admit that they were sick and needed to rest too.
Willy had gotten a text from his girlfriend half an hour ago. It was complete gibberish which was unlike Allison. He had a pretty good idea what it meant though since it had happened a few times before. Allison always texted him whenever she got sick and the texts never made any sense. So Willy did what any good boyfriend would do and grabbed some cough drops, a box of Kleenex and a can of chicken noodle soup to heat up. He happily hummed as he walked to the door. Giving it a lively knock, Willy waited impatiently for either Prisha or Violet to show up. He bounced on the balls of his feet and swayed back and forth while he waited. A minute passed, then two, then five, then ten. Willy was starting to grow a bit worried and kept knocking and knocking but no one was answering.
“Hello? Allie? It's me! Willy, your boyfriend! Prisha? Vi? Anyone?” Willy reached for the doorknob. They wouldn’t mind if he entered the apartment without them letting him in. Slowly he turned the doorknob and entered the apartment.
“Allie? I brought soup and tissues and stuff. Couldn’t bring Garbage, she was in a mood.” Willy poked his head inside the apartment then slipped inside, quietly shutting the door. It sure was quiet. Maybe Prisha and Violet were asleep. Willy continued to stroll through the apartment when he noticed Prisha passed out on the kitchen floor.
“Prisha!” Willy tossed his backpack with his supplies on the counter and ran over before he spotted Violet half draped over the couch with blankets in her hands. To her right was Allison who was also unconscious while Sir Tubbs happily lay on her face purring. It took a few minutes for Willy to wake up the three of them and get a handle on what had happened. As it turned out all three of them were so determined and worried about the other two members of their family that they had overworked themselves, passing out on the way to the task they each wanted to complete.
“Don't worry, Allie! I’ll call some of the others and they’ll help out!” Willy dialed up Louis first and gave a quick version of the situation. Soon  Louis had called some of the others and the different staff members at Ericson’s Diner decided to make a schedule for who could drop by for a bit and help out the family.
The first batch to show up was Ruby and Omar along with Louis and Clementine. Omar and Ruby went to work right away on making the best chicken noodle soup and biscuits for the family while Louis and Clementine focused on helping out Prisha and Violet and Willy kept Allison company along with Garbage.
“Don’t worry. Allie. I brought you some cool new rocks and AJ said you could borrow some of his Disco Broccoli toys to help you feel better,” Willy placed around the rocks and toys around Allison. Allison had tissues stuffed up her nose and Garbage curled on her chest who hissed softly while Sir Tubbs sat on her feet.
“Thanks,” Allison smiled softly at her boyfriend.
“Want me to tell you some cool stories while you rest?” Willy returned the smile and held Allison’s hand.
“Sure,” Allison leaned her head back and listened to her boyfriend’s tale while she rested. Her mind was fuzzy and she wasn’t sure how well she’d remember these stories but she was sure Willy wouldn’t mind. Allison glanced over at the door and her mind wandered to thoughts of her moms. She wondered how they were doing.
“Here comes the airplane,” Louis made airplane noises and moved the spoon closer to Violet.
Violet swatted the spoon out of Louis’ hand then coughed sharply. Her ribs hurt from the force of it. “Ugh, this fucking sucks,” she grumbled before Prisha’s arms wrapped around her.
“Cuddles to heal,” Prisha mumbled with a happy smile; she was getting a bit clingier now that she was sick in bed with Violet.
“Prisha, you can cuddle Vi in a minute. Let’s get that fever down first,” Clementine pulled back Prisha and placed a wet dishcloth on her forehead.
“Booooo,” Prisha muttered in a daze. Clementine and Louis looked up and shared a smile. Both Prisha and Violet were definitely too sick to put on their stubborn fronts anymore.
The days passed by and different people dropped by with food, medicine and helping hands. After a few days all three women were better.
“I made some tea,” Violet walked forward and placed down a mug of black tea for Prisha and green tea for Allison. She then turned round and shuffled back into the kitchen wearing the fast food socks Sophie had gifted to her. Grabbing her chamomile tea, Violet joined the other two on the couch and tucked herself under the blankets. All of them enjoyed the warmth of the blankets and tea, happy to be feeling better.
