Peril

“When fascism comes to America, it will be draped in the flag and carrying a cross.”

I’ve been reading, and reading, and watching documentaries, and reading through leaked and declassified government documents, and thinking. What started out as my journey to understand police brutality and Ferguson, spiraled into police militarization, and then into the greater woes of the U.S government. And I guess, I should start from the beginning…

It all started when I watched a documentary called “Do Not Resist” by Vanish films. Over the course of the film, you’re faced with images of men in camouflage and body armor launching tear gas in Ferguson, you see the last 30 years of how police in the LAPD, and elsewhere, have dealt with riots, you see armored vehicles rolling down the streets of suburbia, and you see citizens getting zip cuffed, shot with rubber bullets, and put in the cross hairs of SWAT snipers. Thats where I started. The documentary was released in 2016, these problems however begun in the early 1960’s, and before. If you know anything about the last 30 years, you’ll see certain Flashpoints. Starting in the 1960’s with Nixon and the war on drugs, then onto the 1970’s with the war on crime(and drugs), then into the 1980’s you see Ronald Reagan inflame both of those. Starting the massincareration we see today, and fulfilling his campaign promises of restoring “law and order” and waging wars on crime, poverty, and social progress. These campaigns of violence targeted African Americans, and just about every minority group. During these times periods, the police were given more and more funding to meet greater demands. During these same time periods, America was becoming less white. This fueled increased recruitment to groups like the Klu Klux Klan, the American Aryans, and other white-supremacist groups, which propagated anti-government sentiment. During the 90’s you saw the standoff at Waco Texas, which was in the aftermath of the Ruby Ridge standoff.

The standoff at Ruby Ridge(1992), involved a Anti-government Right-wing christian Nut-job in Idaho named Randy Weaver. During this time gun control measures were being called for, and people on the far-right were becoming increasingly radical in opposition, specifically hate groups. So in short, Randy Weaver, following a failure to appear in court on weapons charges, was sought out by the U.S marshall service, they tracked him to a house out in the middle on nowhere, and servailed him for a couple days, they didn’t move to arrest him because him, his wife, and his 14-year old son, were all heavily armed. At one point the U.S marshals moved too close to the house, and Mr. Weaver’s dog picked up their scent and went after them. A gun fight ensued, and at the end of it Mr. Weaver was injured, and a U.S Marshall was dead. They fled into their home and here’s where shit really hits the fan. The FBI gets called out to what would become a 11-day standoff between federal agents and Mr. Weaver. At the end of this 11-day standoff, Mr. Weaver and others involved were shot and killed by FBI HRT snipers. During the standoff, the nearby Aryan Nation compound, that Weaver was a member of, caught wind of the fuckery, and dispatched their finest assholes to go protest on the behalf of Mr. weaver, and their Anti-government and Anti-gun-control ideology. To the Aryan’s this was a case of government overreach, gun grabbing federal agents, and the Jewish-led elites trying to keep down the true-white red-blooded Americans. This was 1992.

In 1993, A crazy SOB named David Koresh, who controlled the compound of the Branch Davidians located at Mount Carmel, near Waco Texas, decided it would be cool to shoot at ATF agents. The story starts with David Koresh, an all-seeing prophet who has predicted the apocalypse, stockpiling weapons. A delivery Driver delivering to the Branch Davidians compound, came across a badly damaged box that accidently opened, and out spilled the shells for Pineapple style handgrenades. The driver tips of the police who contact the ATF, who start digging around, and they get reports of automatic weapons fire coming from the compound, among other things, like the mass stockpiling of illegal firearms, like the M60E machine gun. Now, the ATF shows up in the town, and prepares an illegal weapons raid on this 16-square mile compound. However, a reported looking to report on the raid asks for directions to the compound from a man that would turn out to be in the inner-circle of david koresh, thusly tipping him off to the raid. The ATF tries to raid the compound, and gets hammered by AK-47’s and a multitude of illegal weapons. They lose six ATF agents in the initial assault, and this starts the month long standoff between the Federal Government, and the crazy gun-hoarding cultists who think they are trying to repel the apocalypse. After a month of stupid standoff bullshit and some releasing of elderly and children from the compound, the Attorney general finally greenlights a plan for the government forces to bash holes in the building with M60 tanks and spray in tear gas. The M60 tanks crush holes in the building and start spraying in tear gas. Little do they know, the people inside wearing gas masks have soaked the entire complex in gasoline and have struck a match. The remaining 80 people, including some children, are burned alive and complex burns to the ground. The Radical-Right groups would portray this disaster as a government conspiracy to take away the publics guns, and impose martial law designed by the governments jewish overlords.

Many people came to visit Waco during the standoff, and one person who took very kindly to the right-wing message, was an army veteran who read a book named “ The Turner Diaries”. This book, “The Turner Diaries” was the pinnacle of ideologic porn for the radical right. In this book, a decent hard working patriot fights against a tyrannical government, and one of the ways he does this, is by loading a truck with both solid and liquid explosives, driving it into a loading bay of a federal building, and blowing it up. Sound familiar yet? The man who would later imitate this book in real life with the help of his two army buddy’s, was named Timothy Mcveigh. And after seeing what happened at Ruby Ridge, Waco, and his own service in the gulf war, he decided he was finally going to fight back for all the patriotic gun-owning christians, and finally take the fight to the government. He did this by loading a Ryder rental truck with a ton of explosives, and blowing up 168 people and wounding 680+ who worked in the Alfred P. Murrah building in Oklahoma City, which was home to some of the offices of the very same ATF agents that tried to storm the compound at Waco texas. And to put the cherry on top, he did it on the anniversary of the burning of the Waco complex, on april 19th, two years after Waco.

Fast forward, to Bill Clinton signing the Brady bill, which puts restrictions on buying and selling firearms, and the signing of the Assault Weapons Ban, both in the mid 1990’s. Not only did these bills give the radical-right the fear and paranoia that they needed to recruit, they also put the idea of an overreaching government into the hearts and minds of anyone remotely right-wing. During Clinton’s presidency he would also make extremely vicious moves in terms of the criminal justice system and the prison systems. This added onto the past systemic problems that had still been felt since Nixon and Reagan’s all out wars on drugs and crime. Which both involved the bolstering of the police and federal agencies, the imprisonment of minorities for minor offences, and the demonization of the black man, and the subtly racist policies inflicted on minorities.

Skip again, to the election of George W. Bush. During his presidency, him and Cheney gave free reign to the prison systems, they let the assault weapons ban run out, and they did virtually nothing on the front of domestic terrorism. At this time, the fear of the overreaching government was fading, people no longer saw a reason to be protective of their guns when there was a president that supported them. Also, over the course of the last 70 years the U.S had been getting increasingly dependant on two things, the Military Industrial Complex, and foreign oil. Those, like oil and drinking water, do not mix. The U.S economy was looking up at the time though, Clinton left office with a surplus of 23-million jobs and a balanced budget. But, that would not last. Since the end of the cold war, and without an enemy to fight, corporations started to lobby the people that they had been since the Barry goldwater and Reagan era, Republican lawmakers. Republican lawmakers preached the things they do now. Anti-Immigration, gun rights, religious freedoms, etc. These companies needed more cash because they’re greedy bastards. So, they make contributions to the campaigns of these select people, and next thing you know, everyone’s advocating for policies and foreign policy moves that directly benefit Wall Street, the Gun industry, The Defense Industry, and the Oil and Natural gas Sectors, that were being threatened by green movements. People like dick Cheney, who just happened to be the former CEO’s of companies like Haliburton, started to get a boner for a new oil war. But only six months into a new presidency, no one wanted war.

Meanwhile, at the CIA, a man named Coffer Black, an old war dog of the intelligence community, was doing his job. He collected data on threats to national security and was directed to report these things to the highest levels of office. One day, he runs across an Al-qaeda intelligence line that sounds like someone trying to make a plan to hijack planes, and fly them into U.S domestic targets. Eventually Mr. Black narrows down their target. He creates a report and slides it onto the desk of a new president. That president, never opens the folder. Coffer Black, a foremost expert on counterterrorism, briefs the administration on this imminent attack on the domestic U.S. Nothing happens, despite his warnings. On september 11th, 2001, while the New York Air National guard runs drills, drills that involve intercepting hijacked airliners, the real thing happens. The day of 9/11, 2001, plays out the way we all know it to. The old wardogs, Cheney, and the Right, finally have the war they’ve wanted for sol long. Afghanistan, Iraq, Yemen, Oman, etc. The Military Industrial Complex is booming, Americans are buying guns at a rate never before seen, and due to the development of the Right-wing Media apparatus created by Fox’s roger Ailes, the American public is being bombarded with images and messages of anything from GI’s taking cover behind cars, to slick-black-haired middle-aged college dropouts, and thoughtless blonde bimbos doing their best to provide the public with the fear and paranoia that it takes to keep the police funding rolling in, and the attitude for war raging. During this time, the administration starts a war that can never end, a war on simply an emotion, terror. The carryover’s from the espionage act signed in the 50’s, and a brand new addition called the Homeland Security ACT giveing the government more acess to your shit. But that’s not it, In order to fight this new nemesis, we need to be able to control everything that’s going on. Thus the PATRIOT ACT, is born. The government now has the ability to take a peek into the lives of every single American’s emails, phone calls, and electronic devices. We’re told for the greater good. The Administration finally has the fear it needs to keep the public even more on edge. The Administration suspends Habeas Corpus, now they can pull up to a suspect’s house, take him and his family, detain them without trial or representation, and hold them at a CIA black site indefinitely. Maybe in Cuba somewher?… Oh, and they can torture them for information. The president’s private army, JSOC, increases 10-fold, numbering in the 10’s of thousands strong, giving the Navy Seals, Delta Force, The CIA Special activities Division(paramilitary arm), and the Marine Raiders a home. They run black ops and raids nonstop, forming the greatest special forces army the world has ever seen, that report directly to the president and operate in almost every country worldwide. And what happens we when all these guys, special forces or not, come home from war and need jobs? Where do they go? Government agencies and local law enforcement. Or they go to private military contracting companies, like blackwater, that are sanctioned by the U.S government, but are still somehow not legally responsible for stuff ordered by U.S officials. And who owns these PMC companies? The ones in the MIC that need war to make money. So they require experienced soldiers. And we have no shortage of those. All this is just Adding to the domestic military. What does america stand for now?

Boom, Bush is out, Obama’s in. The trillions of war dollars spent, and housing bubbles made, stir the fears of economic collapse that the radical-right has always feared since the Cold War. The U.S is two years deep into the worst recession in history, global markets take the globalized hit. Slowly but surely Policy austerity measures bring the U.S back on to the right track. Obama wants to focus on the economy and social progress, however, the fuckwads in the caves in the middle east that hate us for meddling( for the last 70’s) in the middle east, can’t let it fucking go. Also, the 1033 program gives 330-million dollars of surplus military gear to local police forces, Neenah Wisconsin get the majority of the surplus gear. Now, every small town in America has a MRAP mine-resistant vehicle with which it can bolster its local SWAT team, who’s deployments had increased 10,000-fold since the 1980’s. With SWAT teams being used for anything under the sun.

The new black president starts pushing for increased gun-control measures, the gun-lobby starts pushing on republicans, and nothing major gets done. Meanwhile some home grown jihadists start stabbing and shooting and exploding people, just to keep us afraid. Tell me if you’ve heard this one before? A man walks into a school, movie theater, black church, office and uses his AR-15 to pump 30+rds into the civilians. There’s no joke, just a point. The president now four years deep into the bullshit that is the federal government, starts losing his cool over a bunch of dead kids, it’s finally time to do something. He puts some executive actions into place that somewhat limit gun ownership, and do things like try to close the gun show loophole and stop the mentally-ill from owning a firearm. At the same time, he’s also giving 20-million people healthcare. The gun-lobby is not happy, they cram money into republicans trying to keep the fear alive. After every shooting, gun sales spike. Barack Obama addresses the nation, Osama Bin laden is dead. Hello ISIS. Shit. This was literally all Bush’s fault!

As the 2016 Presidential election approaches, tension over the socialist, muslim, african, communist, hitler, anti-christ President Barack Obama’s replacement is the talk of the radical right. One contender is predestined, and an opposite emerges from a pack of ten. Hillary clinton, and Donald J. Trump. Hillary clinton gets boned over a bunch of bullshit lies, and one somewhat bad scandal. Donald J. Trump, the pussy-grabbing fascist is elected. After running on a platform of xenophobia, anti-immigration and populism, the man who was accepted as a candidate by the KKK is now president. The Man who never condemned the support of a Grand Wizard of the KKK, is now president. Now, in power, the cabinet that contains fascists, idiots, and racists is now calling the shots. The number of ICE agents begins to rise, illegals are raided and rounded up en masse, the fear is alive and running strong. The right-wing ideology that led to the long history of crazed domestic terrorists is now being broadcasted to the whole world. Many other countries follow down the same path. Britain, germany, france, all see the rise of far-right wing, gun-loving, war-needing parties. In the domestic U.S the recruitment to the KKK and other hate groups rises to levels not seen since the end of the civil war. The amount of hate crims also rises majorly. Fascism is now 100+ days into exactly what the original anti-tyrannical founding patriots were worried about.

And then it hit me. Much like a conspiracy theorist plots red string and post-it notes on a corkboard, I figured it all out. The radical-right, the gun-lobby, the fear, the hate, the terror, it’s all manufactured. We spend so much time scared to death of the next 9/11 that we never focus on the next Oklahoma city. We let these despicable politicians, shadow money, the Military Industrial Complex, and the lies of militant jihadists keep us forever in the dark. It pisses me off that we, the people, allowed the creation of this parasite of a system, be created in the memory of an ideal that our founding fathers were more than proud of. And also, no one finds it the least bit suspicious that every time some great new progressive breaks the cycle and moves for progress, wether it’s MLK or JFK, some right-wing nutjob guns them down? Sometimes having ties to the FBI or the government??? I’ll tell you, after reading a book called “Raven Rock”, it all kind of fell into place. Since the 1950’s, the U.S government has been creating huge bunker complexes that can withstand all-out nuclear war. Sites like Raven Rock, Chyanne or Mount weather. Giant bunkers tunneled into mountains that are designed to be the secondary command&control complexes in case of nuclear war. It’s self-preservation at the highest level. They don’t give a shit about us. Throughout U.S history, the government has proven that they will come down hard on anybody who threatens them or their interests. All these right-wingers think that all they need is some guns and they can fight back, bullshit, the government has the greatest leathal power in the world, that you paid and voted for. I mean come on, they have drones and tanks and shit, they will stomp you out.The government has always been looking for ways to control us, wether it’s MK-Ultra, or any other shadowy CIA experiment. they don’t give a fuck about their constituents. It’s supposed it be “for the People, by the people” not “ against the people, for their own good”.

This is how the cycle works. 1.) The public is made sacred by an existential threat 2.) The lobbied politicians capitalize on it 3.) Their friends get rich from whatever industry they’re in 4.) They want more money 5.) The public get braver 6.) they need another threat to keep them scared. And then its back to 1.) Keeping us in a state of perpetual war, and fear.

My whole point, is that the dysfunctional manifestations of this process are damaging to the American Ideal, The American people, and the American reputation. The greatest threats to our rights and our freedoms, are not wrapped in a turban(I know they’re sikh) and strapped with a bomb, they are sitting behind a desk in a secret room in the U.S capitol plotting red dots on a nation in the middle-east.

That’s not to say that we haven’t been warned, Dwight D. Eisenhower, who would be unacceptable by today’s republican standards, once said in a 1969 speech,

Finally, in 1935, as semi-satirical book called “It Can’t Happen Here”, by Sinclair Lewis was published.

In this book, the fictional situation of a man nicknamed “Buzz’ running against President Franklin D. Roosevelt, and winning, is the basis for the story. In this fiction, Buzz runs on the platform of returning the U.S back to the great “Patriotic”, and “Traditional” values country that we used to be. With the help of an SS-like paramilitary force called “ The Minutemen”, Buzz seizes control of the U.S government and institutes Authoritarian/Fascist rule. Throughout the book, the ruler constantly cracks down on the the liberal resistance. I think we can all see the fucking parallels there.

What I’m trying to say, is that the tools are there, the militarization, the prison industrial complex, the 24/7 media pundits, the money. if not Trump, someone else will come around playing with people’s fears and try to go even further than Trump will. He’s already shunning the media, calling them “Fake News”, appointing his kids to government, and other bullshit. He’s also making it easier for the mentally-ill to get guns. He also pushed for a Muslim registry, and his immigration bans have both been shot down, thank god. The first thing a fascist does is start by saying that facts aren’t real. We need to vote these people out of office while we still can, or until the next preventable attack takes us back to war. Doesn’t everyone get fucking tired of being scared?
