ok. sometimes I just want to listen to people talk abt star wars but the youtube results are all men and I refuse to do that to myself. found myself on a reddit thread of good sw youtube accounts/podcasts and it's like....for one dollar name a woman:/
#CRINGE or whatever#but like i am thinking abt themes of fate and agency and the way they change across series and how certacertain characters exist outside#the narrative etc and i just wanna talk abt rebels and how its such a fantastic follow up to tcw/the prequels in terms of its core cast and#the fact that their only commonality is that they chose to be a part of the rebellion as opposed to the characters of tcw that are stuck in#this perpetual loop of following orders and uplifting those in power & feeling as though everything in their lives are destined meanwhile#there were so many opportunities to stop the end destiny (if u will) of the prequels if only they werent so blind etc but at the same time#you have characters like maul and ahsoka who exist outside of these power structures (one by choice and the other not) and when it comes#time to change anakins fate together ahsoka cant do it bc shes refuses to see the truth#and then this is directly paralleled at the end of rebels s2 where it takes kanan being literally blinded for him to see ezras pull to the#dark side bc until then kanan (the last remaining jedi) still clings to the beliefs and structures that raised him. he cant see/understand#ezra bc he refuses to view the world outside of the lens of his jedi training he has to be blinded to see the world around him in a new way#ofc this is all happening while ahsoka and anakin meet again and we see what could have happened had kanan failed to change#idk something something the illusion of choice under capatalism & 2 party systems leading to facism#something something rebellion/change comes from the ability to question authority and find individual purpose#noooo idea where im going with this shit at the end i promise i understand facism#see this is why i need to listen to other people talk abt it i am just spewing nonsense in my tumblr tags!!!!

Hey tell me about your favorite symbols and motifs and themes and mirrors and foils and parallels (and so on and so forth)
Is that.
hi ok im answering this finally
i know im a basic bitch. i know. but to get this out of the way: the hero's journey story structure drives me up a wall in the best way, specifically because you end where you started. its a circle. but even though the PLACE is the same, YOU are not the same, YOU are fundamentally changed, YOU fell to the abyss and were reborn and are thus not the same as the person who started, and i just. like it
when it comes to themes. fate. stories about fate are my favourite thing ever but only if theyre done right. attempting to gain agency and escape something that you literally cannot escape......... sdkjfhksffskdhfksgkj. and if they DO escape?? if they do?? they DO fundamentally break the narrative thats been bestowed upon them...... i die. i perish. i pass away. i like it. <-that in particular can be changing their own fate in a story abt fate, but also i like characters just. crushing what the narrative was supposed to be. on a related note, mulan not being a musical for the last half of the story is the best thing disney's ever done
also! to go back to characters specifically changing their own fate!! dont get me wrong, them being unable to stop fate is 10/10 too. my only issue is if they like fate and go along with fate. the chosen one gets chosen and is fine with it/happy abt it and wins and lives happily ever after.... NO!!! i want them to struggle!! i want the characters and fate to be in a (perhaps neverending) barfight!!! i dont care who wins i just want the conflict that creates
also to actually talk about specific pieces of fiction. the good place is a masterpiece and i will yell it from the rooftops forever. the comedy is fine ig but the actual underlying story makes me feel so many things. the theme of everyone having the capacity to become better is so needed i think. it is. and the idea that the system is SET UP to make it hard for people to be good is true!! its fucking true!!
also i feel like Eleanor and Chidi are foils. on some level. because yeah Chidi taught Eleanor to care more about her moral decisions, but Eleanor actually taught Chidi to be less caring about his moral decisions, too. at least, how i see it. she doesnt make him immoral by any means, but i think that just by being around Eleanor all the time, Chidi starts to learn how to actually deal with the fact that Sometimes, he will make choices that hurt people, but that's a fact of life and he can't judge himself on that alone. and. well . i like it!! i like it very much !!!
also smth i found interesting was how in Little Thieves by Margaret Owen, Vanja's (the main character) greed is directly symbolized by the jewels growing from her body. like, it's not even subtle; it's part of her curse. the thing is, i actually think it would have been executed better if Vanja didn't know that. if she had to make the (pretty obvious) connection herself & bend symbolism to work for her, lower the amount of gems killing her by lowering her own greed instead of just being handed that information, it'd have worked better.
also ARCANE i am so unwell about arcane. it is a story of a bunch of people who, i think, literally all just want to do something good but dont know how to execute it. Powder wanted to do something good in ep 3, but in the process she [redacted spoiler lol]. Jayce wants to do something good with hextech, but he's taking dangerous risks and he may hurt people or even start a war. Vi and Caitlyn both want the undercity to be better, but they don't know how to fix it and though I haven't watched episode 9 yet, I can feel a big fuckup coming. Even Mel!!! She's manipulative yeah and pretty morally grey but she wants what's best for Piltover. And Silco. EVEN SILCO. He wants the undercity to thrive. Don't get me wrong, he's a piece of shit, but i think somewhere. deep down. he wants things to be better, too
also i dont know where it is but there's a post talking about how Jinx is fire and Silco is water but their colour symbolism is opposite to that and i love that take so much. Jinx is blues and Silco is reds, but Jinx was born from fire and Silco was born from water and Jinx is a hair-trigger explosion, dangerous but powerful, while Silco is more like the ocean--often calm, but capable of killing and more than willing to do so.
that was. so long. so i will end that. i like Things in Media

What happens to the mf when he listens to DT videos in BG
I truly hope that player is a shitheel deltarune thing isnt really really the end theme because as interesting as it is the best solution is to not play the game at all and personally i would very much like if the gane told me how to co-live with it (undertale) rather than wholesale condemn my presence while ironically demanding me to play it to exist. Now it does make an interesting question of how nuch do you pay for experience how much are you willing to hurt to get out most of the game etc. Was it right of yourself to impose your will on Frisk even if it lead to the "correct conclusion?" It would make sense and there would be a lot of definitely cool questions - it would be like Pathological which is player hostile to drive home the point of the misery oof the situation.
Somethinf about Deltarune and its One Ending thing also makes me think about uh i dunno what is the proper name, but walking simulators. You dont do anything but go on and try to piece together pieces of story which is tide enviromentally to yo. Now of course, DT is classic RPG through and through but the while one ending (but it matters what you discover and experience) would shed a lot of light on the situation. Why do we play games that give us no agency, where we cant change anything (and to tie to my earlier paragraph, why do we insist on our presence muddling the story that plays out to the same conclusion?) Is weird route our struggle against fate and doing monstrous things to break out and prepare (in vain)?
It reminds me of discussions around the game where you drop a bomb and people are really mad you did it because well the game didnt give you a choice otherwise. But to me it made perfect sense. It is common in visual novels to block r or force a choice on certain routes. Now I never played the soldier game so I cant tell how effectively it does choices. But to me forcing a soldier to fire a bomv is poignant - what else could he do? Agaib i dont know the details, maybe it was done in a shoddy way and other places in the game had choices or people felt like it wad heavyhanded. Would it have been better if you chose not to fire but got shot for it like instantly? I think abt it because like if the best is to not drop the bomb then the best thing is to not play the game. Just like in Deltarune.
Did I seriously talk myself out of. My first gut position? Yea because I am a pussy and I dont want to hurt anyone even if that someone is a story and I dont eant to be judged as bad person by a narrative. I am sort of a person who meticilously plan out their Mass Effect 2 or Witcher 3 run to get exactly what I want. Games like DT are freeing but also terrifying in a way. And deltarune world is so nice and detailed and full of life and interesting facts and its just so nice to talk to people and go on adventure and wait a fuckimg minute
Deltarune is just like a Dark world in a sense. We dip in we get to control a cooler avatar we get a ton of cool characters we want to meet or see their lives deleted. We try and figure out the best course for it and we try to find all the secrets. The dark world represents escapism but also noteable gamification FOR the beloved Lightners but their world is already GAMIFIED TO US. Theres almost game inside the game feel to it all.
Of course noone in the gane takes over Established People's Life so the point could be moot. They remain themselves. And its interesting they dont have the choice to kill or anything, unless YOU the outside influenfce intervene in gamebreaking way. Someone who sees both layers as a game forces the thought in (weird route). But they still have larger influence and disrupt the gane world they enter just like you do, and yet are limited to seemingly one path just luke you are.
Or something. I am just excited to see what Toby does, I love his games so far they are very charming this is very half hearted rambling.

Unfortunately it has been confirmed that Furuba S3 will be only 13 episodes long. The season would need to be at least 20 episodes in order to fit all the manga material in. I am personally stopping watching the anime now, as I am so disappointed after years of waiting for a faithful adaption of one of my favourite stories to see important plot points and character arcs chopped up and rushed through just when the story is climaxing. I hope you can at least enjoy parts of it!
Hi dear friend!
I’m sorry that you feel the this way. More importantly, I think it is good that you decided to stop after feeling disappointed & let down. These are valid feelings you shouldn’t ignore & I’m happy that you decided to look for an end to them. At the end of the day entertainment should exist to bring desirable feelings of fulfillment. If it doesn’t do this to you anymore, walk away & look after your feelings. I’ll be missing you valuable input as you were one of my early furuba friends<3. Hope to see your comments about other things or future manga posts.
I think it is important to acknowledge the feelings of disappointment as much as you acknowledge the feelings of joy & excitement. Both feelings are valid. ppl look for different things in media. For example, sometimes ppl appreciate changes from the original stories & see their worth, sometimes the changes miss all the important points from your perspective & look like a watered down version of the original’s theme. I’m thankful that you decided to express your thoughts & move on.
Personally, As an anime-only, I can see some issues with the pacing & quick characters arcs with some missing points here & there even if I don’t know the manga, but also the writing itself is strong! This part of the plot is what I’ve been waiting for since se01 ! I don’t care much for story/lesson of the day in se01 or the coming of age theme in se02. I’m craving complex, complicated & more mature themes. This part of the plot has all of this in its core writing. I can forgive the pacing & the bullet speed rushing thorough tohru’s background story if it proves it worth in the climax & its aftermath. Show me why furuba is still talked abt after 20 years! show me why a shojo story stuck with an entire generation! Show me why it is STILL remembered.
This core plot has the condensed character arcs of tohru, akito, kyo, shigure, momiji, Isuzu, Haru & the curse itself (trauma). It has the core themes of adulthood & maturity:
forgiving one’s self & self-implemented guilt.
moving on from loved ones & painful memories. letting go of pain.
fate vs self agency, future vs past. new beginnings vs being held down.
extreme self loath & low self worth.
personal need for change!
It is packed! se01 & se02 don’t compare in their writing! which brings the forever confusing question of why they would favor the shallower seasons over the core heart of the story, but I’ll let go of understanding weird artistic decisions & focus on the canon anime story.  As long as these themes mentioned above are addressed properly & the character arcs of the remaining characters (kyo, akito, tohru) are presented without cheap drama or over the top animation, then, I’ll be satisfied.
Good luck precious friend. Always be happy<3
