Ties that bind..

Cassanni drew back the bow string, arrow nocked and ready to fire. Fiona growled low in her chest from her slinked low position next to her master. As Cassi's fingers brushed the anchor point, she inhaled a deep breath, her eyes focused on her target. Then, before the target could move, she let loose the arrow as it sailed through the air until finally connecting with it's target, piercing it's soft flesh with deadly accuracy. The creature gave a howl of rage and anger as it roared. However, the sound did not last as two, then three more arrows were embedded in it's flesh until it fell over, still alive but weakened. Cassi spoked a few words that would have sounded more like growls to anyone near, and within that instant Fiona was up, running and on top the creature, ripping it throat out in a guttural gurggle as Fel blood gushed from all the wounds. Cassi held her bow, lowering it to her side as she made her way to the Demon that now lay dead on the ground. Fiona, one of Cassi's ever constant companion foxes, sat happily wagging her fluffy tail. Cassi kicked the Demon with her boot, watching as it lolled slightly in the other direction. She sighed, speaking to no one in particular. "These demons are getting more brazen by the day. Something must be stirring them up. And I only know one person who may know why." She flung her bow over her shoulder as she turned, walking back to where she had been, the gryphon waiting for her as it clawed the ground. She patted it gently as she hopped onto it's back, soothing it gently with her hand. She whistled a soft note and Fiona came running up, hopping onto the gryphon's back, a pleased expression on it's face. Cassi grabbed the reins as she thought to herself. "I need to find him. But where to start." She gave the gryphon a slight kick as it lifted into the air. She needed to find a Vyrkul and there was only one place she knew she must go...

In the company of the Light..

(Recent past)

Cassanni didn’t like this man, but she had to admit he was the best chance at finding her sister. Long had she held out hope that one day she would be reunited with her sibling. Since her abandonment by her father, Cassi never prayed to Light again, but when her uncle had mentioned that her sister was alive, all Cassi could do was hope..

Now, as she had walked through Azuna with this Paladin who claimed to know her sister, she didn’t know what to think. All through their trek from Highmountain, she had watched him warily. She didn't trust him, but what choice did she have. When he had mentioned that the woman he cared for was none other than her sister, she was skeptical at first, but she chose to trust him for the time being.

Most of their walk had been quite but while they rested in Val’Sharah, the Legion had launched one of it’s invasions. It was here that she witnessed just how strong with the Light this man was. He cut demon after demon down and barely stopped to breath. She hadn't seen a man so strong of conviction since her father. And though she was loathe to admit it, it gave her a measure of admiration. If this man was indeed the one that made his sister happy, then she had to accept that the Light, even if it had forsaken her, might truly be with her sister.

As they had neared Shackle’s Den, she knew it wasn’t going to be easy to get the Ship but she had remained quiet until the Paladin had begun to speak to the captain, who refused to give up his ship. So Cassi had intervened between them, telling the ogre brute captain that she knew he desired her. It wasn’t the first time a man had looked upon her with a lustful desire, and she was sure it wouldn't be the last. The captain had agreed to the exchange with the stipulation that she stay with him. She had hoped that the Paladin wouldn’t argue but didn’t expect him to be so sour and angered with her that he left her to the ogre, took his horse and wandered off to the ship

And so, once again, Cassi’s faith in the Light was shattered. She was now the property of this ogre and she didn’t think to see her sister ever again. She resigned herself to her fate, however horrible it would be.

As she removed segments of her armor, prepared to give her life for the chance that her sister would be happy, the Light itself manifested in none other than the Paladin who had shown her nothing but contempt. He cut the ogre down with the same righteous fury she had seen him destroy demons.

Once the deed was done, she picked up her armor and begin to put it on as the man walked from the cave, Cassi remarked rather coldly, “Bout time. I wasn’t sure you wouldn’t just take the ship and go.”

“I could have. With your aggravating attempts of humor at ones expense...” The Paladin said, his blade still dripping with blood.

Cassi had turned, spitting on the corpse of the ogre a grin upon her lips as she spoke. “I got you the boat and you are still sore about a few jabs. Maybe my sister deserves someone else.... Someone with a backbone.”

That was all it took for the Paladin to whirl upon her, blade in hand as he shouted at her. “KNOW THIS YOU HARLOT, YOUR JABS HAVE ENDANGERED OUR CHANCES OF EVEN FINDING YOUR SISTER. I COULD HAVE ALLOWED THAT OGRE TO TEAR YOU IN TWO. WHETHER OR NOT I AM DESERVING OF YOUR SISTER IS HER DECISION.” He lowered his blade as well as his voice when he turned, heading for the ship. “I will still keep my end of the agreement....if you truly desire that.”

Cassi fumed as she yelled after him. “MR. SHINY HAS ANGER ISSUES!” What an ass she thought. How could my sister ever care for this man, she didn’t know but she vowed to make sure Xarisone knew exactly what type of man she had near her...
