I am unironically thinking about an immortal Spider-au, so just hear me out. At some point in his younger years, he gets into an accident that ends with him dead and waking up in Eywa, meeting a few unfamiliar faces😉. He doesn't stay long there as his body heals and pulls him right back out. Since he is a kid and doesn’t really comprehend what happened, just that it’s a way for him to finally"connect" with pandora, he starts doing it on purpose, the only problem being that his body adapts every time he does it, even the air doesn't affect him at some point. Imagine him taking the bullet for Neteyam and just shrugging it and off while every one else is freaking out. If you want an angstier version, Neteyam still dies, and since Spider has probably done his thing way too many times, he has to go to some extreme lengths to meet him, even then it might not work.

It's givinggggg New Moon but darker and less comically stupid. I do love this take on self harm, which is a concept we love doing with Spider and characters like him. Not to get all annoying and English major-y, but I love the speculative as metaphors for serious topics. Spider has to hurt himself in order to be seen by those he loves. That is, uGH, so juicy and well thought out excuse me while I go put that on my novel concept google doc.

Yes, the idea of him shrugging off the bullet is funny, but this idea of him going to greater and greater lengths to see his love, knowing that eventually he'll run out of options, and all the while somewhat hoping that it'll stick this time and he can stay with Neteyam; brutal and beautiful. He might never die, and the more ways he tries places him one step closer to never seeing Neteyam again.
