Just gonna say it. Halldoll and public transportation.
Jaida remembers being new to New York City. Not fondly, but she remembers it nonetheless. So, when she found out the woman she was renting out her spare room to was fresh off the plane from France, she suspected she’d have to go into full tour guide mode.
They had made it down to the subway station. She couldn’t convince Nicky to hop the turnstile because “these are louboutins, Jaida,” but they got there nonetheless.
“Why is that rat the size of a toddler?” Nicky asked, hiding behind Jaida as she watched the rodent scurry along the tracks.
“‘Cause he’s eating better than we are, quantity wise anyway.” She couldn’t help but shake her head in fond amusement at her roommate’s reaction. “These guys ain’t gonna hurt you. You mind your business and they mind theirs. It’s the ecosystem.”
“I don’t believe you’ve ever taken an earth science course.”
Jaida shrugged. “They don’t teach this in school. Unless you take an urban studies course, I guess,” she told her as they got onto the subway.
There wasn’t a single surface that Nicky felt comfortable touching, so when the train jerked them forward, she held onto Jaida for dear life. It wasn’t until they came to their stop that she realized she latched onto her like a koala. “Don’t say it.”
“I don’t need to,” she chuckled. “Let’s go, but I’m not boutta piggyback you up these stairs.”

56. “I didn’t know you could do that.” L. Bed Sharing + Rosydoll
Rosé woke to Nicky watching her from the chair. They’d shared a bed in their hotel room as there was a mix-up with their reservation, resulting in one king bed instead of two queens. Rosé had warned her, she was totally a sleep cuddler.
She vaguely wondered if she’d been too cuddly and that’s why Nicky was watching her from the armchair. “Sorry, did I keep you up?” she asked, voice still sleep-rough.
Nicky put a finger to her lips. “Shh. Don’t talk. I didn’t know you could do that.”
Rosé looked at her confused. “Do what?”
“Look so adorable when you sleep.”
Rosé chuckled. “Told you once you slept with me you wouldn’t go back.”
“Shh. Don’t ruin it. But do you want to...?”
Rosé glanced at the clock. It was early enough. She nodded, obeying Nicky’s command not to talk.
Nicky went to her suitcase and got some silk ropes and an enormous strap. Rosé spied a pink ballgag and pointed to it. Nicky smirked.
“Oh you want that too, baby?” Nicky picked it up and put it on Rosé. Then she stripped Rosé naked, put a pillow under her hips, and began to tie her spreadeagled to the bed. When she was done, Rosé tested her bonds and found them comfortably secure.
Nicky smirked and snapped a pic. “Proof that I got the pink princess just where I want her.”
Rosé moaned around her ballgag, eager for Nicky to stop teasing. But Nicky was just getting started. She ran her nails over Rosé’s thighs. “Can’t wait to tease you until you can’t take it anymore,” she purred as she put on her enormous strap. “Too bad you can’t escape or beg. We’ll be going at my pace, cherie.”
Rosé whimpered. Whatever Nicky had planned for her was going to be good though...

i had no plan or direction and was powered solely by my love for this ship (and also jan and rosé are still besties in any au bcs i will not let that go)

“Huh,” Jan remarked, swirling her drink in hand as she looked across the bar, “I’ve only ever seen drunk frat boys try to play darts, and at least half of them caused or suffered grievous bodily harm.”
Rosé cocked her head to the side to watch on in mild amusement. “She’s good, too,” she observed.
“And hot.”
She arched her brow and looked back at her friend, “what happened to stepping out of the dating world and focusing on yourself?”
Jan huffed and rolled her eyes. “That doesn’t mean I can’t look.” Her gaze drifted back to the blonde, who had finished her round of darts and now appeared to be coldly rejecting various men offering to buy her drinks. “Ooh, she seems kinda mean, you know that’s my type.”
“You’re hopeless,” Rosé shook her head and pinched the bridge of her nose, then looked back up. “Oh look, she’s coming over here. How serendipitous.”
“Hi,” the woman greeted and sat at their table, “I’m Nicky. Act like we’re friends so those idiots stop bothering me.”
“You got it. But be careful, if you like girls, this one,” Rosé pointed to Jan, “will try to be more than friends real quick.”
Nicky smirked, turning her attention to the woman shooting daggers across the table. “Is that so? And what is your name, cherie?”
When Jan finally stopped glaring at Rosé to meet Nicky’s eyes, she immediately melted under her sultry, half-lidded gaze. It took a moment for her question to register before she managed to reply, “Jan, and please ignore my friend. Unless you’re into it, in which case my apartment is like, two blocks over.”
“Aren’t you cute?” She cooed as she looked her over, then added, “I’d hate to steal you from your friend, though.”
Rosé laughed and shook her head. “By all means, take her off my hands.”

Jankiedoll at an animal shelter, whatever will they adopt (if any)
idk if this was meant as a hc or mini drabble but im going w the latter so sorry if im wrong lol
-
“You know she’s going to want all of them, right?” Jackie warned as they walked into the shelter. “Like, this is going to be a whole thing.”
“She can make it into as much of a thing as she wants. The apartment still has a one pet policy and I am not about to lose our security deposit,” Nicky retorted. Despite the sternness in her tone, she couldn’t help but smile fondly as she watched Jan patter around the shelter, cooing at all of the dogs.
Jan toddled back to her girlfriends after a couple minutes. “Why aren’t you guys looking around? Aren’t these babies so cute?”
Jackie chuckled softly and pressed a kiss to her temple. “We will, but you’re the one that’s been begging for a dog, so at the end of the day it’ll be the one that you want.” After a moment, she made sure to add, “emphasis on one.”
She huffed and waved her off. “Yeah, yeah you gave me the whole spiel already.” And with that, she was off, going from one dog to the next and cooing at each of them.
“We’re going to be here until closing,” Nicky muttered.
Luckily for her and Jackie, it’d only taken Jan about fifteen minutes before she’d decided on a dog. “Listen, I know we said just the one but she’s clearly friends with–”
“No,” they answered in unison.
Despite her pouting and huffing, Jan acquiesced and focused on the one dog that drew her in the most. She sat and played with her while Jackie filled out the paperwork, as happy as can be.
“I suppose it’s worth it,” Nicky mused, “seeing her like that.”
Jackie chuckled as she finished up the forms. “We’ll see if you still feel that way when it’s your turn to clean up after it on walks.”
Nicky rolled her eyes. “I finally got on board with this, don’t make me change my mind.”

65 screams Halldoll to me
yeah you'll never guess where i got the idea for that one from...
Tumblr media
65. "Look over there!"
“Fuck,” Jaida cursed under her breath and slid her phone back into her pocket. “Who the fuck decides to go hiking for their birthday? That cabin better be like the goddamn Radisson.” She sighed and looked up at the sky, then over at Nicky. “What did Jackie say to do if we got lost?”
Nicky furrowed her brows as she thought, glad that at least they had one reasonable friend that knew they would end up needing their asses saved. “She said… qu'est-ce qu'elle a dit bordel?” After a beat, her eyes lit up. “Water! She said to follow the water, since the cabin is on a lake.”
“One day, I’m gonna learn French without telling you, just to see if you’re talking shit about me,” she joked to distract from the frustration they both felt. Out of the group, she knew deep down that if any of them were to get lost, it would be them, and she was sure once their friends knew they were safe, they would never hear the end of it.
“None of this would’ve happened if we just went to Cancun like I suggested,” Nicky muttered, shaking her head as they kept walking along the only cleared path they had been able to find.
They continued walking for about ten minutes or so before Jaida suddenly perked up. “Look over there!” She took Nicky by the hand and pulled her a couple yards over until they reached a small river. “We were even going in the right direction, look at us.”
She snorted, “you say that as if it were intentional.” Linking arms with her girlfriend, the pair continued to walk alongside the water. It took nearly another half hour of this, especially with both of them getting tired.
Finally, they saw a large, well-lit cabin and they were filled with a new surge of energy. They let go of each other and ran to the cabin, swinging the door open and catching their breath once inside.
“Oh, thank god!” Jackie immediately ran over and hugged her friends. “We were so worried, I was about to call for help. Are you guys okay?”
“Yeah, thank god we listened to you for once,” Nicky laughed as she sat down on the couch. “Next time we should be allowed veto power for anyone’s birthday plans,” she said, looking pointedly at Heidi, whose idea it was.
“Did you or did you not get here alive?” Heidi defended.
Jaida rolled her eyes. “I’m with Nicky, next time it’s Cancun.”

Honey - Halsey
She was sweet like honey And all I can taste is the blood in my mouth And the bitterness in goodbye Drippin' like honey Down the back of my throat and on the front of my mind And well, she's impatient and I'm complacent With just a little taste of wastin' time
“You know what I’m gonna tell you, right?” Jan prompted as she walked Jackie home from Nicky’s apartment – Nicky never outright said it, but Jackie knew it was best for her to be gone before she woke up, and she wasn’t one to question it.
“That this relationship is toxic and the amazing sex doesn’t justify the heartache I put myself through?” Jackie retorted with a tired annoyance tinging her voice. She wasn’t frustrated with Jan – though she wasn’t fond of the ‘I told you so’ talks during her walk of shame, but she was frustrated with herself. She had always considered herself too smart to let herself fall into this situation, and she usually didn’t go for girls like Nicky.
Nicky was a wild, uninhibited party girl. She was dancing on a table on the night Jackie met her. But instead of deterring Jackie, it drew her in, it was intoxicating. Then the hookups became more regular and the line between fuck-buddies and girlfriends became more and more blurry.
“You need to understand, I don’t do relationships,” Nicky had warned her once they had started hooking up regularly. “I like you, you’re fun. Just remember where things stand.”
And Jackie did her best to adhere to that. It was easy in the heated, passionate moments. She could lose herself in how good Nicky felt, how sweet she tasted. It was the aftermath that stung bitterly, the cold ‘goodbye’s on the mornings she wasn’t out before her lover awoke.
“It’s not going to stop you though, is it?” Jan asked, jolting Jackie off of her train of thought.
“Probably not,” she conceded, glancing at her phone and seeing a text from Nicky. “See? Look, she invited me out to dinner tonight.”
“You think she’s gonna take you on an actual date?”
Jackie shrugged. “She seems like she means it.” And that was enough for her, she was mean, but she was hers… sort of.

“Stop moving, I need to disinfect the cut.” For halldoll pls
“I’m not moving,” Jaida said before yanking her hand away the second iodine touched the cut on it.
Nicky let out a frustrated grunt, this time firmly holding Jaida’s arm in place with one hand and tending to the wound with the other. “There,” she muttered as she finished patching it up, “all fixed, no thanks to you.”
“Did I or did I not tell yo ass not to put me in the damn kitchen?” she countered with a huff.
“You weren’t even cooking!” she countered. “I asked you to set up the crudités!”
Jaida waved her bandaged hand around, “and that involves knives which are my kryptonite!”
Nicky exhaled deeply, willing herself to maintain her composure. “At least we do not have to go to the hospital. I’d hate to tell our friends that we had to cancel our dinner party because your finger is sitting in the ice bucket for the champagne.”
“Way to have your priorities in order,” she laughed and shook her head. “Next time you show me, it’ll be like Ghost… except you’re not dead.”
“With you in the kitchen, we can’t jinx that sort of thing.”

Touch Me - Spring Awakening
Touch me, just try it Now, there that's it God, that's heaven I’ll love your light I’ll love you right Well wander down where the sins cry Touch me, just like that Now lower down, where the sins lie Love me just for a bit Well wander down, where the winds sigh
Jackie knew Nicky was the only person she could turn to when it came to things like sex. Jackie was raised sheltered, confined, taught not to focus on anything but her studies, let alone impure thoughts. And those thoughts being about girls? She was certain it would give her parents a heart attack.
But Nicky was different, she was everything Jackie could only dream of being. She was free-spirited, sexually liberated. She never shied away on the subject, and never cared much for modesty. The last part was likely what sparked the conversation they were having – Nicky’s penchant for walking around their dorm in as little clothing as possible made Jackie’s lustful thoughts nearly impossible to ignore.
“So do you just… know what to do? How to touch someone you’ve never been with before?”
Nicky chuckled softly and shook her head. “I am not psychic, Jackie. It is… intuition, when you are with someone, you learn what they like as you go. And it helps to have your own frame of–” she stopped mid-sentence when a realization dawned on her. “Have you ever touched yourself before?”
Jackie shook her head. “I was too nervous to, like, I thought that the second I tried, my parents would burst through the door.” There was a beat of silence and she felt her face heating up. “Could you teach me?”
“Of course,” she smiled, leaning over to gently caress her cheek. “Do you want me to touch you?”
“Please.”
Nicky obliged, easing Jackie onto her back and getting on top of her. She was gentle and diligent, covering her skin in kisses, slowly removing each article of clothing and lavishing the newly exposed skin with attention. She listened intently for what got sharper moans, needier whines. Then her hand moved between Jackie’s thighs, using two fingers to rub small circles onto her clit.
“O-Oh my god…” Jackie moaned, feeling sparks shoot through her body unlike anything before. “Just like that, fuck, please.”
So she continued, deciding to ease Jackie into this by not taking it beyond rubbing her clit. But even with that alone, she had brought her roommate to an orgasm a bit sooner than expected, and couldn’t help but feel a sense of pride. “How do you feel?”
“Heavenly,” she sighed contently, relaxing into the bed. “Thank you,” she quickly added. “I, um, would be more than open to getting more lessons from you in the future.”
Nicky chuckled softly and pressed a kiss to her lips. “I can do that.”

Oops - Little Mix
Oops, my baby, you woke up in my bed Oops, we broke up, we're better off as friends Now I accidentally need you, I don't know what to do Oops, baby, I love you It started with "what's up with you?" I messed around and got caught up with you Yeah, yeah, I don't know what to do I caught these feelings like it's nothing new
“You know we’re carrying out that toxic lesbian stereotype, right?” Jaida remarked with a dry laugh. “We’re that couple that breaks up but keeps fucking.”
Nicky shrugged, grabbing her vape pen off the nightstand and taking a hit. “There are worse stereotypes, aren’t there? Besides, it’s not like we planned it… it just happened.”
She rolled her eyes and shook her head, but couldn’t stop a soft exhale of laughter from slipping out. “Yeah you just been accidentally waking up in my bed ‘bout three times a week,” she sighed, looking out the window. “We lasted what, four days before feeling up on each other again?”
“Well, a lot of my stuff is already here,” she defended.
“What happened to being better off as friends, huh?”
Nicky was quiet for a moment. That was why they broke up, after all – they both had come to the conclusion that after being friends for years, dating simply didn’t make sense for them. It’d been six months, they thought they could simply go back to the way things were. “Maybe we were too quick to pull the trigger on breaking up.”
Jaida felt her chest tighten. She felt the same, of course she felt the same, but could it be that easy? Could they just undo their breakup and try again? “Guess we kinda got scared. I know I did…” she took a deep breath, then chewed on her lip for a moment. “‘Cause I’m in love with you, Nicky.”
A broad grin spread across her face as she felt a weight lifted off her shoulders and her whole body unclench. “Fuck, thank god,” she laughed breathlessly. “I’m in love with you too,” she told her, leaning over to press a kiss to her lips.
“Then fuck it,” Jaida decided, wrapping her arms around the other woman, “let’s do this whole thing over, clean slate.”

How about gay vampires raising their vampire daughter (totally not your friend who’s literally screaming about the show on discord rn) and whatever ship calls to you
lmao anything for u <3
-
“I thought you were gonna get her a doctor’s note,” Jan huffed as they drove to their daughter’s school. Once again, she’d gotten the call that her daughter was breaking dress code with her oversized sunglasses and wide-brimmed hat the second she stepped foot outside.
Nicky rolled her eyes. “How do you expect me to do that? You cannot diagnose a ten year old with ‘vampire’,” she retorted, adding, “what, twelve decades and you haven’t figured out how to forge a doctor’s note?”
“Eleven and a half,” she muttered. “You do it, then. Your handwriting is much better, and you did your homework with a quill and ink pot.”
She kept one hand gripped on the steering wheel while the other pushed up her own oversized sunglasses to pinch the bridge of her nose. “Fine, fine.”
Meeting with their daughter’s principal worked out relatively well – granted, it included Jan threatening to contact the ADA if they were unwilling to accommodate her needs.
“The other kids call me Wednesday,” the girl mumbled as the three of them got in the car. “She doesn’t even wear glasses, not even in the old comics, I looked it up!”
“You expect fourth graders to be accurate in their insults, Delphine?” Jan jokingly scoffed. “You let us know if anyone gives you trouble, Maman will make sure you don’t get dress-coded again.”
Delphine tilted her head curiously. “Is Maman gonna drink from him?”
Nicky laughed, “only as a last resort.”

7. Jan/Nicky | G. Supernatural AU
-
“It all makes sense now,” Nicky mused as she looked around the apothecary. She wasn’t entirely sure how they’d gotten there, but she had quickly come to realize that there would be a lot of inexplicable things when it came to Jan.
Jan tilted her head curiously. “What makes sense now?”
“Your obsession with Wicked,” she replied with a cheeky grin.
She laughed in response, shaking her head fondly. Nicky was the first girlfriend she had ever revealed her full identity to. Telling anyone that she’s a witch was a massive risk, not only to herself, but to her family and the whole mage community. But after more than six months of being with her, she earned her trust, and she was coming to affirm that it wasn’t misplaced. “How long have you been waiting to say that?”
“Since you told me,” Nicky admitted. Finding out about Jan’s background did take her by surprise, but it didn’t bother her. She’d told her that she used to date a Wiccan, though Jan gently explained why that wasn’t the same thing.
Jan giggled softly as she gathered a few different herbs and other plants. “I told you that I’m a witch and your first thought was making a Wicked joke? My god, I love you.”
She beamed, the phrase still relatively new between them and still making her heart skip a beat. “Well, I love you too, and nothing you could’ve told me would have changed that,” she hummed as she followed behind her around the store, looking, but unsure if she should touch anything.
They continued browsing through the store for another few minutes before Jan brought her basket to the counter and tapped the bell by the register so the owner would know to come out and ring them up.
“So this is her?” Crystal asked as she stepped out from the back room, “the human?”
Her cheeks tinted pink, but she nodded. “Yeah, this is Nicky,” she replied, lightly tugging at her girlfriend’s arm to bring her forward.
“Enchanté,” she greeted, politely adding, “your shop is so lovely.”
“Thanks,” she smiled as she rang up the basket items, though her eyes were trained on Nicky.
Jan cringed, she knew what Crystal was doing – she was an empath with a strong ability to read others, and humans were the easiest. But Nicky didn’t seem to notice, so she didn’t bring attention to it and quickly paid her.
“See you next week,” the other witch hummed, quietly assuring, “she’s good.”
“No,” she shook her head and smiled, “she’s so much better than good.”

Sportsdoll + alone in Paris (on accident)
Jan knew it was her fault for getting lost — Jackie had told her a dozen times to stick with the group and follow the itinerary. But she got distracted for a moment by a cute little bakery and suddenly her friends were gone.
After a solid ten minutes of wandering around, she spotted a woman reading a book that, based on the cover, appeared to be in English, but she didn’t look like a tourist. She tentatively approached her, “hi, um, are you from around here? I got separated from my friends and now I’m lost.”
The woman lowered her sunglasses to look at her, a slight smile tugging at her lips. She was cute, and she’d always had a weakness for American girls. “Oui,” she said as she tucked her book into her bag and got up. “Where are you staying? I’ll take you there.”
Jan let out an audible sigh of relief before telling her the name of the hotel. “Oh, I’m Jan, by the way,” she added.
“Nicky, enchanté,” she replied, linking her arm with Jan’s as she guided her through downtown Paris until they reached the hotel. “Your friends are probably worried about you, you should call them.”
“I will,” she nodded. “Thank you again for your help, would you like to come with us for dinner tonight?”
Nicky tried to quell her enthusiasm, lest she break her cool, nearly aloof demeanor. “I would love to, then perhaps I could take you for dessert after,” she winked.

9. “I want you more than I want to be good.”
-
“Are you scared?” Nicky asked as she tucked Jan’s hair behind her ear. Her moves were careful, deliberate. She wanted to make her feel good, but she knew it wouldn’t be as easy as any regular hookup.
Jan was a good church girl, she sang in the choir while Nicky smoked outside until someone chased her off. One of those times, Jan was that someone, and Nicky knew she had to have her. But now that she had her in bed, she didn’t want to overwhelm her.
She looked up at her with wide eyes. “No, I thought I would be,” she admitted. “Part of me still feels that it’s wrong, but…” she chewed on her lip as she figured out how to explain her feelings, “I want you more than I want to be good.”
The words sent chills of arousal up Nicky’s spine and she all but pounced on her, capturing her lips in a heated kiss. “I’ll take good care of you, cherie,” she purred.
Jan nodded, her heart racing in anticipation. She had no idea what to anticipate, she had spent so many years trying to keep such thoughts out of her head, hardly ever allowing herself to get off alone. Nicky already seemed to know exactly how to touch and kiss her in ways that got her all riled up.
Nicky had only just finished undressing Jan and smirked at her obvious arousal. “My eager girl, so wet, so needy.”
“Need you so badly,” she confirmed with a breathy whine. Her eyes fluttered shut and she moaned out when Nicky eased a finger into her, hips rocking towards it.
“Good girl,” she praised, adding a second digit shortly after. She thrust them firmly and steadily, savoring how loudly Jan moaned. “That’s it, tell me how good it feels.”
Jan couldn’t have stopped herself if she tried, voice only getting higher and becoming more strained until she came with a sharp groan, her body slowly coming to a halt as she rode it out.
Once Nicky was sure she was spent, she took Jan into her arms and cuddled her close. “You were so good for me. How do you feel?” she asked gently.
“Better than I thought I would, much better,” she assured as she caught her breath. She hoped feelings of guilt or regret wouldn’t surface, because she’d never felt this kind of happiness before.

9+13, "It's cold"
i just realized while i havent written this pair, i have written all four of them as a quad lmao (or actually i think it was jackie/jan/lemon + nicky for funsies)
i also just now (a half hour after posting) realized this said ‘it’s cold’ not ‘im cold’ bcs i am what? illiterate!
9. Lemon + 13. Nicky Doll
-
As much as Lemon enjoyed the double dates she and Nicky went on with Jan and Jackie, she often found herself frustrated at her inability to one-up the other couple in terms of affection and cuteness. It wasn’t that Nicky wasn’t affectionate – they loved each other very much and never shied away from it. But the other two were just so damn saccharine.
“Are you okay, love? Jackie asked, noticing the moment Jan started to shiver.
Jan was barely able to get out, “I’m cold,” before Jackie had her jacket off and wrapped around her. She smiled, properly putting it on. “Thank you, baby,” she cooed and kissed her cheek, leaning into her as her girlfriend kept an arm wrapped around her.
Naturally, Lemon crossed her arms and rubbed her upper arms to signify she was also cold. When Nicky didn’t notice, she pointedly remarked, “it is really cold out.”
“And how many times did I tell you to bring a jacket?” Nicky responded without looking over at her. “I am fairly certain it was at least three,” she added as she opened her bag. “Here, dummy,” she said and handed her a cardigan she’d grabbed, having anticipated her girlfriend’s stubbornness.
“Thanks,” she murmured as she pulled it on. At first, she felt frustrated and disheartened that she didn’t get the cutesy moment the other couple had, but then a realization dawned on her. This was Nicky showing love, demonstrating that she cared, that she knew her habits, her quirks. Maybe it was quieter, more understated, but it was there.
Lemon spent the rest of the walk home reevaluating her behavior, how she reacted towards Nicky, and guilt slowly began to consume her thoughts.
The distraction must have shown, because by the time they were alone, Nicky asked, “what is wrong, you don’t seem like yourself?”
She hesitated, pressing her lips into a fine line. “I’m sorry, baby. I realized I wasn’t being fair to you by comparing us to Jan and Jackie. Just because our love languages are different doesn’t make our relationship any less amazing. I’ve been… I dunno, internally competing with them, and that hasn’t been fair to you.”
Nicky smiled and pulled the smaller woman into her arms. “You are so stupid,” she cooed affectionately. “If you wanted to show them up, you should’ve just asked. You know how much I love to win.”
Lemon grinned and pecked her lips. “Next double date night, we’re gonna be the ultimate couple goals.”

70. "I thought you were dead!" / 85. “Run away with me.”
it might not be clear tho i tried to imply it as much as i could, but this is meant to take place in the 90s lol
-
Whenever Nicky asked about where Jan went, she was met with either a vague non-answer or something just too bizarre to believe. But as time went on, she started to expect the worst. There was no easy way to track her down, it was almost as if she simply disappeared after they graduated high school.
Until she showed up at her door with a duffel bag.
Nicky immediately rushed her up to her room and hugged her tightly. “I thought you were dead!” she exclaimed, unsure if she was about to laugh or cry. “What happened to you?”
Jan took a deep breath and sat at the edge of Nicky’s bed. “My parents read my diary, they found out about us,” she confessed, her stomach tightening as she continued, “they sent me away to a place that was supposed to ‘fix’ me.” She looked up at her with watery eyes. “I’ve never been so scared, I hated it there… My parents don’t know I left.”
“Oh my god,” she exhaled as she tried to process the new information. Her heart broke for Jan, but a surge of anger drowned anything else out. Sure, she knew how religious Jan’s family is, that even if they weren’t, there was palpable danger around being gay. “Run away with me.”
“What?”
Nicky only realized what she said after the words left her lips, but she doubled down on it. “You can’t go back home, and they’ll come around here looking for you. We can take a train into the city, I have a friend with an apartment there, we can stay with her until we figure out what to do from there.”
Jan nodded, chewing on her lip. “What about school? It’s probably too late to register for this semester.”
“We’ll see if you can go part-time, or wait it out until next semester. We could find jobs too, I’m sure.” Nicky sat beside her, wrapping her arms around her. “I wish I could’ve protected you from what happened, but I’m not going to let any more harm come your way.”
She smiled weakly. “Okay, then let’s go.”

sportsdoll + “listen to me very carefully”
Jan nodded, sitting up attentively. “I’m listening!” she chirped.
Nicky broke her serious façade for a moment, finding Jan’s enthusiasm too cute to be stern at. “Right, so, my mom thinks I’m bringing my girlfriend to her birthday, she’s been talking non-stop to my family about it. And we both know I don’t have a girlfriend, that’s where you come in.”
“Oh Nicky, this is so sudden. I had no idea you felt that way,” she cooed with her hand over her heart, the giggled. “No, yeah, I can play the role.”
Her cheeks flushed red at Jan’s initial response, causing her to clear her throat before daring to speak again. “Perfect, we can fly out tomorrow.”
Jan’s brows knitted together for a moment before her eyes widened. “That’s right, oh my god, your family’s still in France. Guess I better pack a bag, huh?”
Nicky nodded. “I’m sorry to spring this on you so last minute.”
“Babe, you’re taking me to France, you can make it up to me with a bottle of wine,” she winked.
