What is the expanse about?? I’ve read the description on Netflix but could u explain a bit more??

OKAY. I’m gonna try to do this as best as I can without giving spoilers or going on a tangent. 

So first off, the backdrop is set in the future where Earth and Mars are on the brink of war and Belters (those stuck in the asteroid belt) are getting caught in between the feud. There’s also a rebel organization called the OPA.

Basically, when it starts we follow 3 separate storylines. Theres 1) Miller, who is a detective set on finding a missing girl, 2) the crew of the Canterbury (this includes Holden, Naomi, Amos, Alex, and the like) which is an ice mining ship getting ready to return planet side, and 3) we follow Chrisjen Avasalara, an Earth politician dealing with the mess going on between Earth and Mars.

1) Miller is kinda a crooked cop, he takes bribes to “pass” inspections for people, he’s a mess, and just generally kinda a dick at the beginning (tbh he almost reminds me of Murphy in a way). He’s tasked with locating the missing daughter of a politician, Julie Mao, and ends up uncovering some shit.

2) The main story we follow is Holden and his crew. In the first episode, the Canterbury is heading back from a job and stop to answer a distress call which ends with only 5 survivors (Holden, Naomi, Amos, Alex and Shed) and that kicks off their story trying to find a way home, avenge their lost friends, and get to the truth about what’s happened to them.

3) Chrisjen is a true boss and she’s basically trying to keep Earth and Mars from declaring war and yelling and white men to shut up (her story really takes off in season 2)

There’s political drama, murder, an alien contagion, and great characters. Plus, Nolden is space blarke. Or I guess, Naomi herself in the early seasons is a lot like Raven, but her relationship to Holden is very blarke (start out arguing, then build trust, lead their group together, banter, emo hugs) its great.
