Good article. Apparently Tesla is underreporting these so-called accidents including the death of a construction worker building the plant. 🤔

A robotic malfunction at Tesla’s Giga Texas factory resulted in a violent encounter where an engineer was attacked by one of the company’s robots, resulting in significant injuries and leaving a ‘trail of blood.’
According to the Daily Mail, while working on software programming for non-functional Tesla robots, the engineer was suddenly pinned against a surface by a robot tasked with manipulating aluminum car components, with its metal claws inflicted an injury that left an ‘open wound’ on the worker’s left hand.
“Two of the robots, which cut car parts from freshly cast pieces of aluminum, were disabled so the engineer and his teammates could safely work on the machines. A third one, which grabbed and moved the car parts, was inadvertently left operational, according to two people who watched it happen. As that robot ran through its normal motions, it pinned the engineer against a surface, pushing its claws into his body and drawing blood from his back and his arm, the two people said,” The Information reported.
Quick action was taken by Tesla workers who intervened and triggered the emergency shutdown button to halt the malfunctioning robot and prevent further injury to the engineer.
This incident came to light through a 2021 injury report filed to Travis County and federal regulators, which Daily Mail reviewed. Tesla is legally required to report such incidents to ensure the continuation of state-provided tax incentives.
Despite claims by Tesla that the engineer did not require time off following the event, an attorney representing the factory’s contract laborers suggests otherwise. Evidence hints at possible underreporting of workplace accidents, casting doubt on the official records.
Tumblr media
Daily Mail reported:
The injury report, which Tesla must submit to authorities by law to maintain its lucrative tax breaks in Texas, claimed the engineer did not require time off of work. But one attorney who represents Tesla’s Giga Texas contract workers has told DailyMail.com she believes, based on her conversations with workers there, that the amount of injuries suffered at the factory is going underreported. This underreporting, the attorney said, even included the September 28, 2021 death of a construction worker, who had been contracted to help build the factory itself. ‘My advice would be to read that report with a grain of salt,’ the attorney, Hannah Alexander of the nonprofit Workers Defense Project, told DailyMail.com. ‘We’ve had multiple workers who were injured,’ Alexander said, ‘and one worker who died, whose injuries or death are not in these reports that Tesla is supposed to be accurately completing and submitting to the county in order to get tax incentives.’
Elon Musk has yet to issue a formal statement in response to these allegations.
Just recently, Tesla revealed the second generation of its humanoid robot, Optimus Gen 2.
Optimus Gen 2 stands at a height of 5 feet 11 inches and weighs in at a light 121 pounds, shedding 22 pounds from the first model. It’s not just its frame that’s been upgraded; this robot can reach speeds up to 5 mph, which is a substantial 30% increase in velocity.

Finding the Right Accident Lawyer in Corpus Christi
Accidents can disrupt lives in an instant, leaving victims grappling with physical injuries, emotional trauma, and financial burdens. When faced with the aftermath of an accident in Corpus Christi, Texas, finding the right legal representation is crucial. An experienced accident lawyer can guide you through the complexities of the legal system, ensuring your rights are protected and you receive the compensation you deserve. In this guide, we'll explore the importance of hiring an accident lawyer in Corpus Christi and provide tips on how to find the best legal representation for your case.
Understanding the Role of an Accident Lawyer:
Accident lawyers, also known as personal injury attorneys, specialize in representing individuals who have been injured due to the negligence or wrongdoing of others. Their primary goal is to help clients recover compensation for medical expenses, lost wages, pain and suffering, and other damages resulting from the accident.
In Corpus Christi, accident lawyers handle a wide range of cases, including:
Car Accidents: With the bustling highways and busy streets of Corpus Christi, car accidents are unfortunately common. A skilled accident lawyer can help you navigate the complexities of Texas's fault-based insurance system and pursue compensation from the at-fault party's insurance company.
Truck Accidents: Due to its proximity to major shipping routes and ports, Corpus Christi sees its fair share of truck accidents. These collisions often result in catastrophic injuries and significant property damage. An experienced accident lawyer will understand the unique challenges associated with truck accident cases, such as determining liability and dealing with commercial insurance policies.
Slip and Fall Accidents: Property owners have a legal obligation to maintain safe premises for visitors. When hazardous conditions such as wet floors, uneven surfaces, or inadequate lighting lead to slip and fall accidents, victims may be entitled to compensation. An accident lawyer can assess the circumstances of your case and hold negligent property owners accountable for their actions.
Workplace Accidents: From construction sites to oil refineries, Corpus Christi's economy relies heavily on industrial activities. Unfortunately, workplace accidents are not uncommon in these high-risk environments. An accident lawyer with experience in handling workplace injury claims can help you pursue compensation through workers' compensation benefits or third-party liability claims.
The Benefits of Hiring an Accident Lawyer: Navigating the legal process can be daunting, especially when you're recovering from injuries and dealing with the aftermath of an accident. Here are some key benefits of hiring an accident lawyer in Corpus Christi:
Legal Expertise: Accident lawyers have a deep understanding of personal injury law and know how to apply it to your case. They can assess the strength of your claim, identify liable parties, and develop a strategic legal strategy to maximize your compensation.
Negotiation Skills: Insurance companies are notorious for offering lowball settlements to accident victims in an attempt to minimize their financial liability. An experienced accident lawyer knows how to negotiate with insurance adjusters and fight for a fair settlement that reflects the true value of your damages.
Courtroom Experience: While many personal injury claims are resolved through settlement negotiations, some cases may require litigation. If your case goes to trial, you'll want an accident lawyer who is comfortable presenting evidence, cross-examining witnesses, and arguing on your behalf in court.
Peace of Mind: Dealing with the aftermath of an accident can be overwhelming, especially when you're trying to focus on your recovery. By hiring an accident lawyer, you can rest assured knowing that a skilled legal professional is handling all aspects of your case, allowing you to focus on getting back on your feet.
Finding the Right Accident Lawyer in Corpus Christi: When searching for an accident lawyer in Corpus Christi, it's important to do your due diligence and find a reputable attorney who has the experience and resources to handle your case effectively. Here are some tips to help you find the right legal representation:
Research Online: Start by researching accident lawyers in Corpus Christi online. Visit their websites, read client testimonials, and review their case results to get a sense of their track record and reputation.
Ask for Referrals: Reach out to friends, family members, and colleagues who may have experience working with accident lawyers in the area. Personal recommendations can be invaluable in finding a trustworthy attorney.
Schedule Consultations: Once you've narrowed down your list of potential candidates, schedule consultations with each lawyer to discuss your case. Use this opportunity to ask questions about their experience, fee structure, and approach to handling personal injury claims.
Evaluate Communication: Pay attention to how the lawyer communicates with you during the consultation. Are they attentive to your concerns? Do they explain legal concepts in a way that you can understand? Effective communication is essential for a successful attorney-client relationship.
Consider Experience: Look for an accident lawyer who has experience handling cases similar to yours. Whether you were injured in a car accident, a slip and fall incident, or a workplace injury, you'll want an attorney who understands the nuances of your specific type of case.
Conclusion: Hiring the right accident lawyer can make all the difference in the outcome of your personal injury claim. By choosing a skilled and experienced attorney who is committed to advocating for your rights, you can increase your chances of obtaining the compensation you deserve for your injuries and losses. If you've been injured in an accident in Corpus Christi, don't hesitate to seek legal representation and protect your legal rights.

Aggies reignite bonfire..

Texas A&M University regent explores on-campus Aggie Bonfire
Members of Walton Hall watch the off-campus Aggie Bonfire, Tuesday, Nov. 24, 2009, north of Bryan, Texas.
Walton Hall is responsible for loading the lumber that is cut and following the tradition of bringing the flame from Austin to light the fire.
In 1999, the wedding cake-like bonfire structure collapsed while students were building it.
The accident ended the bonfire as an annual tradition before the Texas A&M-Texas football game, although students and alumni still hold the event without university support, away from campus.
The accident left 12 students dead and dozens more were injured.
The conversations come as part of the Texas A&M University Rivalry Committee, which the system’s Board of Regents created in October to study and recommend ways to “appropriately commemorate” the renewed rivalry with the University of Texas this fall.
Until the tragedy, students had embarked on the massive building project for decades, drawing crowds when they annually burned the pile ahead of the A&M-UT football game.
“The members of the committee and I are extremely sensitive to your loss,” Regent John Bellinger wrote in a letter to a victim’s family, which was first obtained by the Texas Tribune. “I do not want to reopen the many wounds that you have but it is important for me to have your opinion.”
Texas A&M discontinued Aggie Bonfire after 1999, when the pile of 500 logs fell during construction and trapped the builders underneath.
After a pause, students began holding an unsanctioned bonfire off campus in 2002, and Bellinger appealed in his letter to the victim's families as the father of a student who participated in the unsanctioned building.
"The bonfire has minimal oversight for safety measures and there is a concern that even though this is not a university sanctioned event, it still involves several hundred TAMU students who could potentially be at risk," he wrote.
Bellinger did not return requests for comment.
Nothing has been decided out of the many recommendations from the rivalry committee, and President Mark A. Welsh is not expected to see a report until May or June, university officials said.
Tumblr media
“President Welsh charged the Rivalry Committee to explore options and recommend activities as we welcome UT into the SEC,” said Susan Ballabina, Welsh’s chief of staff. “The committee will bring those ideas to President Welsh in May. After the president is briefed, he will share his decisions on ideas that will be implemented.”
Article continues below this ad
Aggie bonfire was among the most famous of A&M’s many traditions, beginning in 1909 and continuing for nine decades under the tutelage of student construction workers who prepared year-round for the event.
They amassed huge crowds ahead of the rivalry football game, and with much to-do, lit the stack to symbolize Aggies’ “burning desire” to beat the Longhorns.
The 1999 bonfire lighting never occurred, and the collapse still leaves a major mark at Texas A&M.
The university opened a memorial at the site of the wreckage five years later, and the university settled the last of the lawsuits surrounding the deaths in 2014.
That agreement included a provision that any return of the tradition to campus would come with external oversight from architectural and engineering professionals, Fort Worth attorney Darrell Keith told the Fort Worth Star-Telegram at the time.
Keith, who represented some of the victims’ family members, said that he has not talked to any of his clients about the potential of resuming the tradition on campus.
But at the time of the settlement, some were “adamantly” opposed and others were more open.
“My personal view was, from the beginning, not against bonfire at A&M, but was against fatally defective bonfire at A&M,” Keith said Tuesday.
Bellinger, the regent, requested a meeting in one letter to a victim’s family, dated Jan. 11.
He was in the preliminary stages of considering how to provide oversight of the bonfire and potentially move the unsanctioned event to West Campus or the RELLIS property, he said.
Students might welcome professional input but have at least been adamant about constructing the off-campus bonfire themselves, said Dion McInnis, an alumnus and member of the A&M Student Bonfire Board of Directors, which supports the yearly event. That preference will continue no matter where the bonfire is held, he said.
“What I’m always going to believe in is a bonfire that is built and led by students – however that looks, wherever it is, bonfire is where the students who are building it are,” he said.
Since the 1999 tragedy, the students have changed their construction technique: The pile still looks like its original wedding cake design, but every log on the inside now touches the ground, McInnis said. The new system of internal supports also includes four poles tied with steel to a center pole.
Much of the old tradition continues through the off-campus bonfire, however, including with the leadership of students known as "red pots," named for the Vietnam-era helmets they wear during the build. And the process of building remains more important than the burn, said Mason Taylor, a senior red pot.
A regent approached the leadership team in January for a meeting, although it is difficult to say what will make it past the various subcommittees and committees involved, Taylor said.
"They did state that they didn’t want two competing fires, which I think is the thing we’re most concerned about," Taylor said. "Unless we really get the deal we want, which is students building the fire … we would continue to build the fire (off campus)."

Bonfire still burning
Re: “Bonfire wrong memorial,” by Don Powell, Monday Letters.
The tradition of Bonfire at Texas A&M University has already been reinstated — by the students, working together to learn from the past, plan, prepare, support each other, follow traditions and make them better.
The Student Bonfire has continued off campus for over 20 years with no recognition from the university, understandably, but with support from current and former students who will never forget the horrific tragedy that happened that night in 1999 or the sacrifice of those who died or were injured.
They also remember and honor the eight decades of tradition that came before the collapse. Outside of their academic commitments, the leaders and grunts of Student Bonfire have taken care of each other, planning throughout the year to recruit, raise funds and coordinate all of the moving parts of their project, handing down their knowledge to the next group.
They worked with their blistered hands and tired muscles, always remembering, It isn’t disrespect for the memories of the students who died, but a desire to always remember them and share their stories with future students, that are among the motivators for bringing Bonfire back to campus.

The Laws Governing Liability and Recovery in Car Accidents in Texas
Most motor vehicle accident lawsuits in Texas, including car accident claims, are based on the legal principle of negligence, which can be found in the legal opinions of judges. To successfully establish negligence and recover damages (financial compensation), you must show that the defendant, at the time of the accident, was not acting as a reasonable person would (speeding or tailgating, for example). You must further prove that the defendant’s failure to act reasonably caused the accident and that you suffered actual losses as a result.
What Are the Common Causes of Most Fort Worth Car Accidents?
The vast majority of car accidents are caused by the wrongful acts of other drivers, such as:
Violation of traffic laws—use of excessive speed, illegal lane changes, failure to maintain proper distance, or running a traffic signal or sign
Driving while impaired—Operating a car under the influence of alcohol or drugs
Driving while distracted—Paying attention to handheld devices, other passengers, the car stereo, personal grooming or other roadside attractions while behind the wheel
Aggressive driving—Makin rolling stops, unsafe lane changes and tailgating
Driving without proper rest
Causes unrelated to the actions of other drivers include
Mechanical problems—Dangerous or defective vehicle components (such as tires or brakes) or failure to properly maintain vehicle
Weather or road conditions—Failing to change driving habits in response to rain, ice, sleet or snow, or failing to slow down or make adjustments around road construction or roadway defects
What Are the Most Common Types of Fort Worth Auto Collisions?
The kinds of crashes most often reported in Texas include:
Rear-end collisions, typically caused by tailgating or aggressive driving, or by failing to pay attention to other vehicles on the road
T-bones, commonly caused by failing to stop at a traffic sign or red light, or failing to yield to the right of way of another vehicle
Head-on collisions, common at left-turn lanes or in cases of driver fatigue
Sideswipes due to improper lane changes or aggressive driving
What Should You Do in the Immediate Aftermath of a Fort Worth Car Crash?
After any type of motor vehicle accident, your first priority should always be your health. If you can safely stay right where you are until the EMTs arrive, that’s what you want to do. Let the professionals determine whether you need to go to the hospital, or if you just need a little bit of time to gather yourself. Even if you are able to get up and walk away from the accident, get a full medical examination as soon as possible, whether it’s at a hospital emergency room, an urgent care facility or in the offices of your primary care physician.
When getting medical care, be sure to tell doctors and nurses about everything that seems out of the ordinary. Too many injured people focus on the obvious injuries and forget to mention other concerns, such as a stiff neck or back, or balance issues. Often, the injuries that will be most debilitating in the long run may not start to cause significant pain or discomfort for a few days.
How Long Do You Have to File a Fort Worth Car Accident Lawsuit?
The time period for filing a legal claim for damages is governed by a law known as the “statute of limitations.” In Texas, that period is two years. Accordingly, you must file a lawsuit for damages sustained in a car accident within 24 months of the date of the accident, or within 24 months of your reasonable discovery of any injuries suffered in the accident.
How Is Liability Determined in a Fort Worth Car Accident?
Legal responsibility for injury or loss suffered in any Texas car accident will typically be based on a legal theory of negligence. To prove negligence, you must show that the at-fault party failed to act as a reasonable person would under the circumstances, causing the accident and resulting in your injury and/or loss.
What Kind of Evidence Should You Collect at the Scene of a Car Accident?
If possible, you should get contact information from anyone else involved in the accident, as well as anyone who observed what happened. It can also help your attorney if you get pictures of things that may have a bearing on your case, such as your injuries, the damage to all the vehicles, any unusual road conditions and any weather issues that may have contributed to the crash.
What Loss or Injury Can You Typically Recover in a Fort Worth Car Accident Lawsuit?
The law allows you to pursue full and fair compensation for any injury or loss caused by the accident, including:
Lost wages and income
Loss of companionship or consortium
Loss of enjoyment of life
Any physical or mental pain and suffering resulting from the accident
Any unreimbursed medical expenses
Any property damage or loss
What Can You Reasonably Expect from Your Insurance Company after a Car Accident?
In the aftermath of a car crash, don’t be surprised if your insurance company takes its time responding to you or offers you far less than you need to cover your losses. That’s because insurance companies are for-profit entities whose primary objective is to maximize shareholder value. They do that by minimizing payouts on claims.
What Do Insurance Settlements Typically Cover?
Auto insurance policies generally provide coverage for damage to or loss of a vehicle, as well as some coverage for injuries to other motorists. They may also include payment of medical bills for you and/or your passengers, including circumstances where the other driver had little or no insurance.
Why Should You Hire a Car Accident Attorney in Fort Worth?
A knowledgeable and experienced lawyer will take all the steps necessary to help you pursue full and fair compensation for all your losses. Your attorney should:
Evaluate your case and help you make a good decision about pursuing a settlement or taking your case to trial
Fully investigate of the causes of your accident
Hire and prepare expert witnesses, if necessary, to present the strongest case for your full financial recovery

Defense Base Act (DBA) Coverage For Foreign Contractors
Tumblr media
The Defense Base Act (DBA) extends the federal workers’ compensation program that covers longshoremen and harbor workers, the Longshore and Harbor Workers’ Compensation Act 33 U.S.C. 901–950, to persons employed overseas. Any civilian contractor who performs work on any overseas military or other government facility is covered by the DBA. This includes the contractors’ employees, whether they are third country nationals hired from another nation to work abroad or local nationals working on a contract for the United States government. It also includes the contractors’ subcontractors and anyone else paid by the contractor under a DBA-covered contract.
DBA insurance typically does not have deductibles like workers’ compensation insurance. This makes DBA policies particularly appealing to employers and contractors who need the coverage to help protect their workers while they are in countries around the world where injuries can be very serious.
When a person is injured on a DBA-covered project, the injury must be deemed to be “schedule.” A scheduled injury means that the injury is expected to result in permanent loss of use of one or more body parts. Scheduled injuries include losses of limbs, hearing loss and certain brain damage.
