Halstead Celebrates International Women’s Day by Recognizing its Women Leaders
On March 8, we celebrated International Women's Day, which recognizes and honors the many achievements of women, globally and throughout history. This year's theme for the annual celebration is Balance for Better, in the effort to build a gender-balanced world.
We're proud to have balanced leadership at Halstead, with women making up over 50% of our executive team. In honor of International Women's Day, we asked our women leaders two simple questions: "What moves you professionally?" and "Which female leader inspires you?" Here's what they said:
Diane Ramirez, Chairman & CEO 35 Years at Halstead
What moves you professionally?
My connection with our agents and executives. Their passion moves me.
Which female leader inspires you?
Princess Diana
Kimberly Barkoff, Executive Director of Global Services Division 11 Years at Halstead
What moves you professionally?
Surrounding myself with people I can learn from, feel connected to, and...who are nice.
Which female leader inspires you?
Pam O’Connor, the first woman exec to head a major real estate network (LeadingRE)
Robyn Kammerer, Executive Director of Sales, Darien and Rowayton 13 Years at Halstead
What moves you professionally?
The incredible people I work with, and solving the real estate puzzle (finding the right house for a buyer or uncovering a great story to promote a home or meeting amazing people in the process!). And setting a great example for my kids.
Which female leader inspires you?
This is a tough one! My mom or my very first boss in California who runs her own PR agency and taught me so much, or one of my dearest friends from college featured on the cover of a recent SD Business Journal for successfully running a top construction company. That’s a tough thing to do in a male-dominated industry and she’s rocking it (while raising two boys too!).
Maya Kriet, Executive Director of Communications 2.5 Years at Halstead
What moves you professionally?
Our team at Halstead inspires me every day. The best feeling is to help our agents succeed.
Which female leader inspires you?
Ruth Bader Ginsburg
Leslie Winkler, President, Halstead Management Company 9 Years at Halstead
What moves you professionally?
Sharing my experience and knowledge with others.
Which female leader inspires you?
Eleanor Roosevelt
Sara Rotter, Executive Director of Sales, Downtown 8 Years at Halstead
What moves you professionally?
Caring, love, and passion for what I do and who I work with/for. Seeing the impact of the care that I have for my team and their professional (and therefore personal) growth is what excites me to get out of bed each day.
Which female leader inspires you?
My mom. She was a mostly single mom to my large family and her love and exemplification of leadership have inspired me each day of my life. I often impart her wise words and famous quotes when coaching my team members. She is the finest example that optimism, hard work, tenacity, kindness, compassion, and FUN leads to a gratifying life and career.
Itzy Garay, Executive Director of Sales, Park Avenue 2 Years at Halstead
What moves you professionally?
Watching agents’ hard work pay off and the joy they get from making a difference in someone’s life.
Which female leader inspires you?
Ruth Bader Ginsburg
Trish Martin, Managing Director of Sales, Brooklyn 7.5 Years at Halstead
What moves you professionally?
Nothing moves me more than watching the people around me achieve success – professionally and personally.
Which female leader inspires you?
Rosa Parks, who once said, “Memories of our lives, of our works, and our deeds will continue in others.” Although not of this generation, Rosa Parks continues to inspire and remind me that it is often one small step taken by one brave person that can change the course of history. Those small steps still need to be taken and likely will need to be for generations to come. I hope that in some small way I have been able to take a small step and positively change the course for someone with whom I have crossed paths.
Sandy Wilson, Executive Director of Sales, Harlem 5 Years at Halstead
What moves you professionally?
Working with an incredible team of knowledgeable and professional directors. Plus, I am grateful for a very talented group of real estate agents!
Which female leader inspires you?
Michelle Obama
Juliet Clapp, Executive Director of Sales, West Side 9 Months at Halstead
What moves you professionally?
Impacting people to help them succeed and making a difference in someone’s career/life.
Which female leader inspires you?
Stephanie Sanborn, owner of Voyant
Tammy Felenstein, Executive Director of Sales, Stamford 10 Years at Halstead
What moves you professionally?
When I first started in this business, my mentor June Rosenthal told me, “Don’t ever be driven by making a commission. Be driven by helping people through this complicated and emotional process.”
Which female leader inspires you?
June Rosenthal. She’s the original owner of Juner Properties. She still sells real estate at the age of 95.
