Tried Giving G3 Clawdeen an Afro
Tumblr media
I finally finished weaving her hair around wire, using the method @clowndollys on not-Twitter mentioned how to do back in March of last year (when I could actually look at Twitter without needed an account). It took me about a month or two of off and on again work. I’m thinking that the floral wire that I used was not actually strong enough to do this correctly because I fought with it, EVERY SINGLE PART OF THE WAY. I would rather micro braid or give a doll twists than try this again….at least that’s what I was thinking at this stage before I saw the results.
Tumblr media
Here she was with all of the wires removed after I gave her a hot water rinse and let her dry. There were SO many, as is I tried doing one for every four hair plugs (or every two down her part line).
Tumblr media
And this is how she looked after I gently split every one of her hair pieces in half. Her poly hair really holds the style well (blissfully ignoring that it will get more fuzzy and then it will all break off in another ten years or so). Now to style it!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Tada! I’m still kinda fussing with it, but otherwise, she is trimmed and styled how I would like. I just need to round out her pupils and paint her claws and then I have another poly G3 Clawdeen to my collection. I really liked her face-up on this one and was disappointed to see that she and all of her ghoul friends had poly in this line, so I was just going to turn around and resell her along with all of the other naked dolls with their coffins, but after all this work, I’m going to keep her (and Cleo and Frankie….because they are just so darn cute…despite the sucky hair quality).

More WIP, this time G3 Deuce
Tumblr media
I’m still working on him (I really haven’t found an outfit I like on him yet). But I have repainted his snake hair, added scales “tattoos” inspired by his G1 version, gave him little fangs, painted his nails black, and gave him an earring and snake bite piercings.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
More pictures of his repaints.

I also repainted the second G3 Perseus to looo like his G1 version (I still need to make him a little earring), and painted the inside of G3 Perseus’s ears. I am just going to head cannon that G3 Deuce has had pet rats his whole life and always names them Perseus.

WIP of a G1 Werewolf, using my Creepover Clawdeen.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
First things first: choppy, choppy! I didn’t bother to keep her hair because it was poly (even if it did feel a bit better because I had already heavily conditioned and straightened it- thinking I was going to just take her stock and resell the doll- whoops).
Honestly Clawdeen wouldn’t look bad with a flocked head…she could show off her cute ears more.
Tumblr media
Wiped her face off with pure acetone and a cotton pad. I love seeing blank Monster High heads; they look so detailed (the sculpted eyelids and all of the sculpted ear tuffs on her ears).
Tumblr media
Off with her head! I dunked her head in some hot water, until it was soft, and pulled the head head parallel with the neck (using some tweezers to get around the barbs on her neck peg- the G3 doll heads are MUCH more difficult to try and remove). I then removed her bits of hair by scraping a screw driver inside her scalp and pulling out the hair bits with tweezers. I cleaned off most of the paint on her scalp with pure acetone, and then I dunked her back into hot water to close her hair plug holes.
Her pointy ears make Clawdeen look more like a werefox more than a werewolf. Haha.
Tumblr media
I painted her scalp with acrylic paint (I know that I don’t need to do it, but I still like to). While that was drying, I took my multicolored orange yarn skein, unwound it, cut out the separate oranges I wanted, bagged the extra colors (the two other oranges in the skein were waaaay to bright), cut these into manageable lengths, and unwound them to make lovely waves.
Hopefully I’ll get her re-haired before June is done!

I’ve been admiring the VIP Cats/Rainbow High hybrids on Reddit for awhile aaaaaand I happened to find a I <3 VIP Pets’ Cats’ Selena and a Mara at Marshals the other day, and it was just mean to be. Sooooo off with Mara’s and Selena’s head! I soaked them in a plastic baggy in hot water for several minutes until they were both soft. Surprisingly they were not too difficult to remove (compared to some Barbie/Monster High/Ever After High doll heads). Their neck holes are actually a perfect fit.
I was reminded that Mara has a really lovely face-up and she is one of my favorite Shadow High dolls.
Tumblr media
And the whole switcharoo completed. Both dolls have REALLY soft hair. But, Selena has much more of a yellow undertone to her vinyl than the cool, lighter pink of Mara, but I think I could make it work after I repaint, restyle, and redress.
…..Selena also has very wonky eyes.
Tumblr media
Aw well, she’s charming in her own way. I’m not really a fan of her makeup.
Tumblr media
Well, I have most of her makeup off…..and that pink stained her vinyl….phooey
Tumblr media
MEOW! I kept her whiskers, but I’m hoping to repaint her ears, nails, and face later. ….maybe I’ll try to un-stain her first.
