I've taken like...4 classes on peatland restoration now, which isn't enough that they'll let me restore any peatland but IS enough that i can see when a peatland is damaged and needs restoration. Maximum distress minimum autonomy. Caught in the valley of despair. The learner's hellcrotch.

Today at work we learned we have to take all our holiday days by the end of May instead of the end of June and an INSANE little pantomime broke out where all my coworkers had to make a show of how little they wanted to take holiday days and how much they wanted to work. How they don't want to let the company down during a busy time and they're so bored when they aren't at work anyway. There weren't even any managers there it's insane.

So .... communities. Right. Once upon a time a guy was so personally offended by the concept of divorce that he hand-wrote my mother a letter to tell her not to divorce my father. Insane. 22 years after this, I had to teach this guy in a class. We had to co-occupy a space both in full awareness that he was the busy-body freak who tried to tell my mother not to get a divorce she absolutely needed to get (And did get! three cheers for divorce!🥳🥳🥳). And. We did co-occupy. The course went great. It was fine.
Life is long and life is weird and I still don't like that guy very much but living in a community means accepting that the guy who gets involved in other people's divorces still has something to offer the world. Or something.

The other day my coworker was like "you know, I don't have a problem with catholics even a little bit. Even my parents are ok with catholics. It's amazing how far we've come in the last few generations" and I was like. "well. Thanks man. I appreciate it."

You have to separate your ego from your work. You have to you have to. PLEASE.
I was invited to facilitate a Project with a group of teenagers in a Very Small Town. They pick a challenge in their community, I help them design a solution for that challenge. They picked: what if we had a youth space to hang out in after school?
I said: like a youth café?
They said: no we have a youth café and it sucks. No one goes to it because it sucks.
I said: hmm. ok, what if you guys work on designing an ideal youth café, according to the teens of the town? and I will ask the people who run the actual youth café to hear your suggestions.
So these teenagers survey their whole school, they find out what teenagers want in a youth café. What facilties would make them want to go. When they would go. How much they would pay to attend. They made a bunch of little charts :-)
And I contact the committee of volunteers who have been doing the admirable and thankless job of maintaining a youth facilitiy in a tiny, declining rural town.
I said: Hey. You know how you can’t get young people to use your expensive and difficult to maintian facilities? Well, these kids are willing to tell you exactly what to do to attract them. Will you hear them out?
and this local volunteer says, disgusted and offended: Oh. OH. they have SUGGESTIONS, do they??? WELL. Suggestions. And they never even USE the facilities. Are you trying to say that WE have been doing something WRONG?!?!
Girl....... apologies to ur ego. but the answer to ur question is literally yes.
