I hate stupid people in my class. Just so freaking annoying like bro. This isn't high-school where you can make surface level blanket statements without any backing and then act offended when someone corrects you!?!?!? Final year human rights, criminology and politics class means you can't make the same unsupported or brief statements anymore.
For clarification when I say stupid people I mean kids who show up to class without studying the material, make statements that are blatantly false or half true half and present them as facts.
Here I was. Logged onto this online class and preparing to nap it away. When I hear someone say something so stupid that I literally jolted 💀
"People need to their oppressors to tell them why they(british in this case) committed crimes against them to allow the people to understand what happened"
Ok first off. No. Second off no. Third off there's a reason why historians have a job. Studies. Documentaries. Records. Political philosophers and theories. And the very clear aspect of the results show what they wanted in terms of colonization, genocide And crimes against humanity. The colonized don't need the British to waltz in and talk about why they colonized entire countries when we know why💀
And then when you're criticised about that standpoint you weaponise your identity? Like ok but that doesn't shield you from being wrong? Just that blanket statement is insane. And to say to the PROFESSOR who responded to you "oh I think you misunderstood" and then say the exact same thing you said before is so ???! Bro just take the criticism and expand your knowledge base?
Like why show up to class without reading the assigned reading? Or prior knowledge?. I quick google stuff before saying anything just to make sure I don't make wrong statements, it's possible to do that in class and even more so online. I did that before correcting this person. To which in reply they turned this into a "I wanna know, as many victims do" like. Bro. Your personal opinion is your personal opinion. Don't frame it as a fact of the situation then? Start off with "in my opinion" or "i feel that"???
