Last night SNL had a skit in which Timothee Chalamet (of the orientalist franchise Dune fame) made a Hamas "joke".

Last year, when the attacks on Ukraine began, SNL brought on a Ukrainian choir to sing over a candlelight vigil.

The West does not see Palestinians, and their suffering, as human. Fuck SNL and fuck all the people who are comfortable and involved in the ongoing dehumanization of Palestinians. Their suffering is not a punchline.

Hope people use this time to check themselves on their learned Islamophobia and anti-Arab racism— especially if you’re American or European. It is not “normal” for the Middle East to be “constantly at war”. Muslims are not more inclined to violence and “barbarism”.

The state of the region is the product of decades of colonialism, exploitation, and racism in play. The word “Middle East” itself stems from those very same things.

"Wyll is boring" he is the personification of daddy issues. he hides away at a beach TWICE and leaving the tav to go find him because he's not used to having people around who care abt him. he's been running around the sword coast for seven years just killing things and saving people because he got EXILED and chose to prove himself to his father and just help others. he spends his time training kids how to defend themselves. you find out his dad is the ARCHDUKE of Baldur's Gate. he almost drowned once trying to find mermaids. he has a literal devil haunting him that watches his every move. He managed to stop an entire cult of Tiamat AT AGE 17!!!!!!! he loves clowns.

Wyll isn't boring, ppl just haven't taken the time to explore his story and it SHOWS

Looking at Stephanie Chafe's Artstation it seems like the design for Wyll's scars are meant to "be a physical, intimate sign of the contract between him and his patron."

I just find it really frustrating and exhausting how openly racist fandoms can be with little to no repercussions. Nonwhite characters are straight up ignored and have their stories/character arcs replanted onto white characters and no one bats an eye. Nonwhite characters (especially black ones) are held to incredibly high standards that white characters don't have to meet, and if they fail they're villified, if they pass they're labeled as boring.

white fans will reblog one post calling out fandom racism and then do 0 inward reflection about their own behavior and how they perpetuate racism in fandom.

Going absolutely crazy over what you find in Duke Ravengards vault. You have a weapon titled Ravengard's Scourger and it's description that states Ulder's own father was distant and Ulder had sworn to himself that he'd be better than his own father, but that once Wyll is born he ultimately fails and becomes distant from him.

And then of course, the only other item in the vault is a 'worn and much-handled' journal that Ulder has recorded all his favourite memories of his son inside.

Once again, the game hands you another cycle that isn't broken and all you're left with is heartbreak and pain.

another patch another day in which Wyll is set aside to prop up the white male characters. another patch in which he is reduced an even smaller role despite arguably being one of the most important characters central to the plot. another patch in which pleas from fans are ignored in favor of giving more content to the white male characters.

disappointed but not surprised. if you haven't already, please reach out to larian and voice your disappointment and concern. so many of us already have but the more the (hopefully) bigger the impact.

sorry but it really is telling that Larian chose to make a joke about Wyll's abuser and not Gale or Astarion's. The backlash would've been too big but because it's Wyll and Mizora's hot, suddenly it's okay.
